Weekend Hangout
[First completely original chapter, sorry if the characters seem OOC, I'm still new to writing fan fiction, also to anyone who might've noticed, I've removed the option to vote for who you want to be the romantic interest for Revati, the reason being partly because no one really seemed to vote other than my friend and 2 people on , and also because I feel that I've decided who I want, in particular the interests I've decided on are characters who I've found have little in the ways of romance stories dedicated to them in general, but you'll have to wait until later to find out, now, without further ado, the story continues.]
In Beacon cafeteria early in the morning, there are few people present, among those present though, are Ruby, Ren, Nora, Pyrrha, Blake, and Revati. Jaune and Weiss were still sleeping in their respective beds, and Yang had told the others to go on ahead without her as getting her hair the way she liked would take some time.
At the table, Nora and Ruby were chatting nonstop with each other about what ever came to mind, their own boundless energy being the only thing that allowed them to so easily converse with one another. Pyrrha and Blake were talking about the classes they had during the week. And Ren and Revati were sitting silently just eating their breakfasts.
"Hey guys, did I miss anything?" Yang says, showing up with her own tray of food and sitting down. "Not really sis, just talking," Ruby answers her sister's question, "By the way, is Weiss up yet?" she asks her sister, "Nope. Still asleep, you'd think she'd get up and hang out with us just so she could prove she's not a total snooze-fest, am I right?" Yang fires off with a cheesy grin on her face. Her response is groans from Ruby and Nora, Blake and Ren simply shaking their heads at her, a pained smile from Pyrrha, and from Revati, "Kkkk," he chokes out, managing to suppress his laughter.
Yang's face suddenly lights up at his reaction and she exclaims, "I knew I was forgetting something! You actually like my puns, you laughed at the one just before initiation! How could I have forgotten that?" "No! I was hoping you wouldn't remember! Now we're all doomed!" Ruby says dramatically. "Come on, sis, my puns aren't that bad," Yang retorts to her sister's reaction, "You're right, they're worse, I just didn't yell because I didn't want to disturb everyone else in the cafeteria," Ruby says back with a deadpan. "Alright, geez, tough crowd. At least I know someone appreciates my humour, ain't that right, Rev?" Yang asks looking over at the timid boy, "R-Rev? Oh! Th-That's me, isn't it?" "You sure are," "W-Well then, I-I suppose I do like
y-your puns, also, th-thanks for the nickname, I-I've never had one before," Revati says while poking the tips of his index fingers together, looking away with a small smile and a slight blush.
"Awww, now aren't you cute?" Yang says while softly hip-bumping the boy, this only causes Revati to break out in a bigger blush. "Come on, Yang, you're teasing him too much," Ruby tells off her sister, "Even if he was being kinda cute," she whispers to herself. "Ffffiiiinnne. Well back to what I was trying to get at earlier, this is our first weekend off school, so why don't we all do something together, just hangout as friends, have fun, get to know one another better, that sorta thing," Yang proposes to the others, "I'm in!" "I see no reason to object," "That sounds lovely," "Depends on what we do," "I-I guess we
c-could," "Good idea sis!" Nora, Ren, Pyrrha, Blake, Revati, and Ruby each answer respectively. "Alright! Now we just need to wake up Ice Queen and Jaune and we're all set to go!" "But what is the plan? I said I would go depending on what you wanted to do," Blake asks.
"Well, I was thinking that we could split up into groups, 'cause I know that some of us like completely different things, I was thinking that Ruby, Nora, and Jaune could go to the arcade, you, Ren, and Rev could go to the library, and that Pyrrha, Weiss, and I could just go shopping for whatever catches our attention, and then we all meet up for lunch," Yang throughly explains to her partner. "What's this about shopping?" Weiss says walking up to the table, "Also, I appreciate the fact that none of you woke me up early, I really needed the sleep." After Weiss sits down, Yang proceeds to retell the plan for the day. "Hmm... yes, I would actually find that quite lovely, besides, I haven't yet been down to Vale, at least getting to know the area would be nice," Weiss says after hearing Yang's plan, "Honestly, I'm a little impressed at how solid of a plan it is, I truly didn't expect that from you, Yang," Weiss says offhandedly. "Hey! You just called me stupid, didn't you?! Well, I'll have you know I was top of my year graduating from Signal!" Yang yells in defence of herself at the insult, before crossing her arms over her chest and looking away from Weiss.
"If it isn't too much of a problem, I'd like to go to the arcade," Pyrrha interrupts the small kerfuffle, "Really? Huh, wouldn't have pegged you for a someone who likes video games," Ruby says to Pyrrha. "Honestly, I've never played one before, what with all the training, school work, and general lack of friends, there just never was enough time nor reason to try them. However, I have been fascinated by them for a little while now, so I thought this could be an opportune time to try some out," Pyrrha rattles off before again saying, "Unless of course that throws off your plan, Yang, then just pretend I didn't say anything." "No, it's fine. It may leave me and Weiss by ourselves, but we haven't gotten to know each other all that much more than the rest of you guys," Yang simply says.
With this decided, Teams RWBY and JNPR went to their dorms to bring whatever they wanted with them and to wake Jaune up from his slumber. After this was done, the two teams made their way to the Bullheads, where Revati was already waiting for them, getting the attention of one of the pilots, and boarding the ship to Vale. "Okay, so what's going on exactly? You guys just woke me up and told me we were all going into Vale," Jaune tiredly asks, still not fully awake. At this, Yang again explains the plan, revised due to Pyrrha's preference. "Sounds nice, buuuut, would it be okay if I came shopping with you and Weiss? I didn't bring much with me from home, so I was looking to maybe get something," Jaune says casually, attempting to hide his true plan, meanwhile Pyrrha turns her head to hide the small frown that has appeared on her face.
"Sure, I don't have an issue with that. How about you Weiss?" Yang asks her teammate, "Ugh, I suppose it's alright, just don't push your luck," Weiss says to the blond boy. "Not a problem, Snow Angel," Jaune says to Weiss which simply elicits, "Uhhh, I'm already regretting this."
As the Bullhead lands, the group of friends disembark and split into their respective groups and make way to their destinations. At the library, Ren is reading through cook books, Blake is looking for any books that might have what she is interested in, and Revati is looking through several books about nature, from plants and animals, to weather and natural geography. At the arcade, Nora and Ruby are going head-to-head in an intense fighting game, meanwhile Pyrrha is looking at the various machines and sees a shooting gallery game, to which she approaches and inserts one of her coins into the machine and picks up the gun, understanding the gist of it, she readies herself for what's to come, and lets loose her fury on the digital Grimm. And finally at the mall, Yang has bought herself a new pair of Aviator glasses, as she had lost her previous pair during initiation, Weiss has bought a small assortment of material to help with her studies, and Jaune hasn't bought anything, largely because of his lack of funds, instead simply attempting to get Weiss to notice him.
Eventually, noon rolls around, everyone begins to wrap everything up and make their way to the restaurant for lunch. Ren, Revati, and Blake are checking out the books they wish to read more of, Ruby and Nora finish their match with Ruby coming out victorious by only a small sliver of health and Pyrrha doing amazing at the shooting gallery doing so well as to set a new high score, while Yang, Weiss, and Jaune simply checked they had everything before heading off to the restaurant they all decided to meet up at.
At the restaurant, everyone is enjoying their meals as they talk about their days, "And then I was like WHAM and KAPOW! And they went AGGGGHHH!" Ruby describes her and Nora's one vs one match to the others as they listen to her explanation, "Ya, it was super fun!" Nora agrees then continues with a pout, "...Until I lost," "Don't worry Nora, you'll win next time," Ren comforts his lifelong friend. "Ya, I didn't think video games would be as fun as I found them, I'm glad I got to enjoy that experience," Pyrrha adds on as well, "Honestly makes sense that the "Invincible Girl" would do amazing at a shooting gallery game, I wonder how well you'd do at a fighting game or rhythm game, I'll have you know I'm amazing at both," Yang smugly informs the others which causes Ruby to roll her eyes at her.
"The library was quite fun too, there were a few books that I checked out there that I hadn't heard of before but seemed good from the first chapter," Blake adds her input of her day, "A-Absolutely, I found some great b-books on nature there as well, like did you know that frogs become nosier just before it rains," Revati enthusiastically says before noticing everyone is staring at him, to which he blushes and looks at his lap and simply says, "S-Sorry if that d-doesn't interest you." "No it's not that, it's just that we've never heard you say so much without stuttering before," Jaune tells him.
"Y-Ya, I stutter less wh-when I'm excited, probably because I-I forget that other people a-are around," Revati explains, "A-As time goes on, a-and I get to know you g-guys, I'll probably s-stutter less," he further explains. "It's nice to know you'll become more comfortable with us, let's us know that we really are friends," Pyrrha says, to which everyone smiles in their own way and nods. The group continue to chat and eat their meals until finally they finish and decide to head back to Beacon for the day, everyone satisfied in one way or another about the day they had all experienced, and after boarding the Bulkhead and flying back to the academy they leave for their respective rooms, "We should do this again sometime," Jaune says as they part, "I'm sure we can arrange it," Yang replies back before they all enter their rooms.
Revati walks over to and enters his room and closes the door, he smiles fondly to himself before sighing loudly and gaining a steely visage. "I wish these good times could continue, unfortunately for everyone, the world is changing like never before, and I can only interfere so much, Teams RWBY and JNPR, I hope you're ready for the trials ahead, lest the worst come to pass."
