Chapter 10

Cara POV

2 months later…

We arrived in the town long past dawn. I moved out first, examining the farmland around us. It was clearly the start of a new season, the ground was covered in little green shoots, and there were several figures working in the fields. Karga approached behind me looking around at this new world.

" Oops. I guess we just destroyed about a month's worth of crops."

He commented. Ignoring him completely, I surveyed the land for a sign of intelligent life. A farmer was approaching our field slowly, pure shock written on his face.

" The Heck! What are you doing here?! More importantly, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING DOING ON THE RADISHES?"

Something flickered in his eyes but quickly faded before I could tell what it was. Karga approached slowly,

" Sorry my friend, but we're here looking for an old… Accomplice, he's been missing for a few years and we thought we'd find him somewhere here."

Calmer, the farmer nodded and opened his mouth to speak only to be cut off by a shrill shriek. Looking in the direction of the noise, I tensed as I saw a 5'2'' child running in our direction. source of the shriek and he had a panicked look on his face. I was confused until I saw another child running, she was blindfolded and masked, her dark hair whirling around her face. The air around her seemed to radiate fury, that was until she saw me and Karga. I could practically feel the furious glower she gave Karga and I. The boy stopped running when he spotted us and basically fell flat on his face from the sudden stop of momentum.

" Oi, Dad, who're the wierdly dressed people?"

He asked after standing back up. Before he could hear his father's answer, his sister arrived just in time to send him flying 15 feet with a powerful blow. The girl ignored the twitching heap of her brother, and turned to the farmer.

" Why is there a hunk of metal on top of the radishes? And who are the clowns standing over there?"

I shuddered inwardly, at the girl's voice. I could feel the razor sharp claws of hatred along with the sense of cold indifference - no - not indifference, disdain directed at her father. Despite this, her father smoothly answered, it almost reminded me of someone…

" - ANYWAY,"

I snapped out of my thoughts as Karga gave me a pointed look.

" We're looking for someone, his name's Din Djarins, 'bout 6' 5'', quiet, kinda grouchy at times, strong fighter… you know him?"

The farmer tensed a flash of recognition in his eyes. I narrowed my eyes grabbing hold of that emotion,

" You know him don't you."

I said tersely. The girl, Aiko, looked at me darkly and I froze. That look, that familiar stone-cold gaze, the same look that Mando constantly had had on his face. I looked at the man again. Studying his face carefully, I could make out the familiar shape of the brief glance I had of Mando's face.

" You don't just know him… You are him, aren't you."
