THE VAMPIRE MIRACLE
A/N: I DON'T OWN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES OR THE CHARACTERS. THIS IS A LONG CHAPTER. IT IS BASICALLY THE WHOLE EPISODE(5X15) ANYWAY THAT'S ALL. ENJOY!
2. SHE IS THE CURE
"Hang on here.. Katherine's still alive? How is that possible?" Matt asked as everyone was settled in the library of the Salvatore residence except for Bonnie and Jeremy.
"Remember that time Nadia's ex, Gregor, hitched a ride in your head?" Caroline asked before Matt nodded. "Yeah, well, it's kind of the same thing. Katherine is a passenger in Elena, except it's worse, because none of us seemed to notice!"
"She was at my house... How did none of us figure it out?" Tyler asked.
"Because it's Katherine and she's smart, and conniving, and sneaky... and we're the worst friends ever." Caroline said.
"This makes no sense. She saved my life. She gave me CPR when Enzo tried to kill me. Katherine would never do that." Jeremy said on the phone.
"That's what made her so believable. She played Elena to a tee. If she let you die, her cover was blown." Bonnie told him.
"I was sleeping three feet away from her! She picked out my Bitter Ball dress. And I let her use my toothpaste!" Caroline said.
"Well, did she lure you into a hotel room to make out with you?" Stefan asked as he came into the room.
"She's the reason I found out about you and Klaus." Tyler said looking at Caroline.
"Of course! Oh my god!" Caroline gasped.
Klaus. Who may or may not be the father of her "miracle" child.
"So, how do we kill the bitch?" Tyler asked angrily.
"Well, passengers can be expelled from the host. We saw it happen with Matt. Gregor died, and Matt lived. All we have to do is stab her with the Traveller knife." Stefan told them.
"I still have the knife Nadia gave me." Matt said.
"Perfect! Go get it." Stefan told him.
"Wait, you guys! This is Katherine we're talking about. She's going to see a sneak attack from a mile away. We've got to get her to come to us. Get her guard down, corner her." Caroline told them.
"Fat chance you'll be seeing her today. I'm pretty sure I bit Nadia." Tyler admitted.
"What do you mean, you bit her?" Matt asked the Hybrid.
"I mean, she was attacking Caroline, and I might've nipped her a little." Tyler replied.
"And you're just mentioning this now?" Matt asked.
"Hey guys! Focus. Tyler's right. Katherine's not going to leave Nadia's side, unless not leaving compromises her identity." Caroline told them.
"Which means...?" Matt looked at the blonde.
"We've got to invite her to something that Elena can't say no to." Caroline told them.
~WHITMORE CAMPUS~
Bonnie and Jeremy sit on a bench on campus while they talk to Caroline on speaker phone
"A surprise party? Seriously? I wanted a spa day." Bonnie whiled as her boyfriend eyes her. "You try feeling the death of every supernatural creature who passes through you on their way to the Other Side."
"I'm not saying you don't deserve it. Besides, her birthday isn't until next week." Jeremy said.
"That's what makes it a surprise!" Caroline said, on the phone.
~ABANDONED BUILDING/SALVATORE HOUSE~
Caroline calls Katherine to put the gang's scheme in motion.
"Yeah, I don't think Bonnie would want a big party for her birthday." Katherine, pretending to be Elena, said.
"Of course she does! So when can you get over to Stefan's to help us set up?" Caroline asked her 'friend'
"I can't." Katherine sighed.
"You can't?" Caroline asked.
"I would love to, but I just... I can't?" Katherine draws a blank for a plausible lie. "Um...I'm making arrangements for Aaron Whitmore's funeral. The only reason Damon killed him was because we broke up, so I kinda feel like I owe it to Aaron. You understand right?" She asked.
"Of course! No, that's really nice of you!" Caroline, clearly upset, but fake smiles before hanging up. "Ugh." She groaned as she rubbed her head.
She had been feeling weak these last couple of days. She hadn't had blood for a while because she can't hurt the baby and Bonnie hasn't found any new information on the "miracle" curse that is slowly but surely growing inside of her.
'Come on Bonnie. Please find something.' Caroline thought to herself.
Just then her phone rang. She looked at the ID. Speak of the devil.
"Bonnie." She answered.
"Hey Care, I managed to get away from Jeremy for a while. Are you alone?" The former Bennett witch asked.
"Mhmm yep. Thankfully or I would have bitten Matt's head off." Caroline told her friend. "Bonnie. Please tell me you found something. I—I don't know how long I can hold off before I attack someone." She plead
"I'm sorry Care. I haven't found anything yet. I searched the whole grimoire and it came out blank. There's nothing about vampires bearing some miracle child."
"Ha, miracle right." Caroline scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
"Care. Believe it not-" Bonnie started.
"It's a miracle." Caroline interrupted her. "See Bonnie, I don't think it is. I mean, besides not being sure who the father is, I can't even take a sip of blood without it coming back up.
And I don't feel good. I have this huge headache and I am starving." She complained before hanging up, groaning.
~SALVATORE CELLAR~
Stefan bites his wrist and dribbles his blood in a glass.
"What are you doing?" Damon asked.
Stefan offers the cup to Damon.
"Here you go. Drink." Stefan told him.
Damon chugs the glass in one gulp.
"I need more." Damon told his brother.
"Too bad." Stefan said.
"That was nothing!" Damon told him.
"That was exactly four ounces. When you were out killing vampires, you said one vampire kept you good for eight hours. So, our friend Caroline did a little bit of math." Stefan said.
"Caroline?" Damon asked, looking at his brother.
"Relax, she had a calculator. So: four ounces, three times a day should be just enough to help you manage the hunger." Stefan explained.
"Manage me?" Damon asked.
"So you don't rip anyone's head off. We'll deal with your crisis once we get Elena back." He explained.
"I'll deal with my own crisis. Listen, you just let me out of here, I'll find Wes, I'll get the antidote." Damon told his brother.
"And then what? Huh? You skip town, leave it to me to tell Elena everything you did after you thought she broke up with you? No." Stefan said before taking out his phone and starts to dial a number.
"Who are you calling there, buddy?" Damon asked his brother.
"Katherine's been making a lot of excuses, and I have a feeling she won't be able to say no to me." Stefan told him.
Just then Damon's phone rings
"It's your phone. "Elena" is calling. Answer it." Stefan told him.
"Elena, hey." Damon answered the phone.
"Hey, um, how are you?" She asked him.
"Oh you know, strung up, hungry, same old same old." Damon told her.
"Now that the dust has settled, I was hoping that, I don't know, maybe... we can talk about what happened at the farm house. Can I see you?" She asked him.
"Okay. Sure. Why don't you just come to the house and we'll just talk about it here?" Damon asked.
"Perfect. I'll see you soon." She fake smiled.
"Okay, bye." Damon told her.
They hang up the phone, Katherine turns to Nadia.
"Damon knows that he tried to kill me less than 24 hours ago. There isn't a single vampire-craving bone in his body that would risk putting his precious "Elena" back in that kind of danger again." Katherine looked at her daughter.
"And yet, he is desperate to see her. Just like her other friends." Nadia told her.
"They know." Katherine said.
~SALVATORE CELLAR~
"That doesn't make any sense. She's dodged anyone's attempt to try to get her over here, and now she voluntarily wants to come over?" Stefan asked, confused.
"Unless…" Damon looks up at his brother.
"Unless…" Stefan looks at his brother.
"She was testing me. She knows." Damon said.
~COLLEGE DORM ROOM~
Liv is setting up the materials needed for the locator spell in Bonnie, Caroline and Elena's room, while Jeremy and Bonnie watch.
"Spill it." Liv said.
"What?" Bonnie asked.
"You look like you really want to ask me something. So ask away." Liv told her.
"It's just — I'm just worried about a friend." Bonnie said.
"Elena?" Liv asked.
"No. I mean yes but no." Bonnie told her.
Jeremy and Liv looked at the former witch.
"It's nothing, I swear. Can we-?" Bonnie looked at Liv.
"Ok. Elena's necklace, candle, and map…" Liv said.
Liv looks at Jeremy, then gestures for him to come toward her.
"Give me your hand." Liv told the young Gilbert boy.
Jeremy and Bonnie look confused.
"You're Elena's brother. That makes you blood. So, hand it over." Liv said to Jeremy.
"Actually, he's her cousin. It's a long story." Bonnie said.
Jeremy walks over and kneels by the table, and Liv grabs his hand.
"Whatever, close enough." Liv said.
Liv runs her finger across Jeremy's palm.
"That's...That's not how I taught you." Bonnie told Liv.
"Relax Mr? I'm feeling my way through it, okay? Now, what do I say again?" Liv asked Bonnie.
"Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Sequitas Sanguinem." Bonnie told her.
"Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Sequitas Sanguinem." Liv repeated.
Liv closes her eyes for a moment, but nothing happens. She opens them again, and looks at Jeremy.
"Does Elena look anything like you?" Liz asked Jeremy.
"Umm, same colored hair…" Jeremy replied.
"What about her eyes? Are they as pretty as yours?" Liv asked Jeremy, flirtatiously.
"Is this necessary?" Bonnie asked, slightly jealous.
"I'm sorry, I'm searching for his sister/cousin doppelgänger in my mind. I'll take all the help I can get." Liv told her.
"Phasmatus tribum, nox es veras, sequitas sanguinum…" Bonnie said annoyed.
"Phasmatos tribum, nox es veras, sequitas sanguinum…
Does your sister spend a lot of time in church?" Liv asked.
~SALVATORE CELLAR~
Sometime later, Caroline walks into the cellar just as Tyler is starting to wake up.
"Hey ready for the changing of the...Oh my God!" She notices Tyler on the floor.
"I'm okay!" Tyler groans as he sits up.
"He fed on you!?" Caroline kneels by Tyler's side and examines the blood on his shirt.
"I said, I'm fine!" Tyler told her, getting away from the blonde. "I don't think I am." The blonde said as she eyed the blood.
She could feel her veins coming out underneath her eyes.
Tyler looked at the blonde confused and shocked. The blondes fangs extracted and she immediately attacked the Hybrid. Stefan walks in and is surprised to see the blonde attacking the Hybrid, with Damon nowhere to be found. As soon as the blood went down the blonde's throat, she gagged and coughed it up as she stepped away from the Hybrid.
"Caroline." Stefan yelled as he went to the blonde's side.
"What the hell happened?" He asked Tyler.
"I don't know. She just attacked me." Tyler told him. "Do you think she is infected?" He asked Stefan.
"No! God, no!" The blonde got away from the younger Salvatore brother. "I uh I—I need to talk to Bonnie." She took out her phone and started walking out of the cellar.
"Hold on Care…what if you're infected. We need—" Stefan stopped the blonde from leaving.
"I'm not infected, Stefan." The blonde said facing him. "I'm not. Just...trust me...I'm not infected." She said to both of the boys.
"You don't know that Care—" Tyler started.
"Yes, I do." Caroline raises her voice.
"Uh guys they found them." Matt came down and told them. "Care?" He looked at the blonde.
"I'm fine." She said. "I'm just— I'm going to go clean up." She told them before vamps speeding away.
"Where's Damon?" Matt asked noticing the older Salvatore is nowhere to be found in the cellar.
"I uh—I think Damon went to go find Wes…" Tyler said, making Stefan sigh.
~CHURCH~
A person in the shadows is seen moving around the pew where Nadia is resting.
~BOARDING HOUSE~
Matt sits on the couch next to a hallucinating Nadia.
"Your hands are like ice." Matt said.
"Gregor…" Nadia said, confused.
"No, it's Matt, I'm not…" Matt told her.
"Gregor, I'm sorry I betrayed you. I did it for my mother. I did everything for her." Nadia apologized.
"I know you did." Matt told her.
"Forgive me?" Nadia weakly asked.
"Yes, I forgive you." Matt pretends to be Gregor by adopting his accent as Nadia whimpers. "Hey, shh, it's okay. It's okay, shh."
"I don't wanna die." Nadia said.
Bonnie, Jeremy, Caroline, Stefan, and Tyler enter the room to check on Nadia. Bonnie sits next to her and holds her hand.
"What's gonna happen when I die?" Nadia asked her.
"I'll take your hand, and you'll go to the Other Side. Just like that." Bonnie told her.
"Will it hurt?" She asked.
"You won't feel any pain."
Bonnie forces herself to smile.
Katherine enters the house.
"I'm here to see my daughter." She said making her way to her daughter.
She sits next to Nadia.
"Nadia…" She said as She held her hand.
"You came back for me." Nadia said weakly.
"I won't leave you again." Katherine told her.
"Did you find a way to save me?" Nadia asked. "Klaus's blood would have saved you...If I had asked for it." She admitted.
You would have outed yourself." Nadia said.
"But you would have been alive. And now it's too late." Katherine told her.
"My mother's name is Katherine. I'm looking for her." Nadia begins to hallucinate again.
"You found me. Nadia, I'm right here." Katherine told her.
"She's a liar and a murderer. She manipulates, she betrays...She'll do anything to survive." Nadia said.
"Nadia, no. I'm right here. Nadia, look at me. Look at me. I'm here, I'm right here." Katherine told her.
"I'm looking for my mother." Nadia said.
"This is not what your life should have been. 500 years searching for a mother who ended up being me." Katherine touches her daughter's face and sighs. "Let me show you what your life should have been. What a perfect day would look like." She gives Nadia a happy dream in which Katherine puts young Nadia to sleep. "You and I had a little cottage. It was an ordinary summer day. You were playing outside, you were tired and it was time for bed. You told me about the fort that you'd built out in the woods by the river. So I asked if I could visit, and you said when the sun came out in the morning. And I said, goodnight Nadia." In the vision, Katherine kisses young Nadia's forehead before she falls asleep. "Sleep well."
In reality, Katherine is crying as Nadia dies in front of her.
"Your mother loves you."
Nadia's ghost appears in the living room, and starts to cry when she hears Katherine say that. Then, she smiles as she looks at Bonnie. Then she looked at Caroline, who of course, couldn't see her.
"She's going to be one of the most powerful creatures in the world." Nadia told Bonnie.
"What?" Bonnie asked, confused.
The groups look at Bonnie, confused with what's going on.
"Bonnie?" Stefan asked.
"She needs vampire blood to survive. Both of them." Nadia told Bonnie.
Bonnie turned to Caroline. Caroline was confused. Were they talking about her? The baby? Does Nadia know something?
"What else do you know about it?" Bonnie asked Nadia as the group watched Bonnie have a conversation with a dead Nadia, who they couldn't see or hear.
"He would come for her. They want her for evil. Do not let them take her. She's not a curse. She's impulsive like her father but she is pure like her mother. She is the cure of all, she will save all." Nadia told her.
"How do you know—" Bonnie began to ask.
"Don't let them take her." Was the last thing Nadia told her before she holds out her hand, and touches Bonnie to cross over to the Other Side.
"Wait-Ahhhh!" Bonnie screamed in pain.
Katherine closes her daughter's eyes and covers her dead body as everyone wonders what Bonnie's conversation was about.
"So. This is it." Katherine tries to escape through the door with her vamp speed, but Damon appears in the doorway and blocks her.
"Hello, Katherine. You didn't think I'd miss this, did you?" Damon
smiles.
Damon walks in, forcing Katherine to go into the foyer.
"Okay. So...who's got the knife? Which one of you is gonna get to kill the elusive Katherine Pierce once and for all?" She waits for someone to speak, but everyone is silent. "What? Suddenly everyone's speechless? When I was on my deathbed you all had plenty to say." She approaches Tyler. "Is it you, Tyler? Because I triggered the werewolf curse? Gave you an identity and made you matter?" She asked him.
"You've done nothing for me." Tyler told her.
"Oh please, Tyler. If I hadn't walked into your life you just be a wasted nobody with a boozy mom and a temper problem." Katherine told him.
Tyler takes a step towards Katherine, but Caroline stops him.
"Hey, don't, don't." Caroline told him.
"And you. I'm not worried about you offing me. Because we both know I made you better by making you a vampire." Katherine said to Caroline.
"Goodbye Katherine." Caroline smiled.
"Bye, bye Caroline. She really is a miracle." Katherine smirked.
"What?" Caroline asked as Katherine walked to Matt.
"The one girl here who actually appreciates how beautiful you are. You wouldn't stab me in the heart, would you, Matty Blue? No, I don't think so. You will definitely go down as the best night I never had. Oh, well…" Katherine said.
"Oh, well…" Matt mimicked her.
Katherine walks over to Jeremy.
"Well, little Gilbert, it was nice to have a brother for a second there...when you weren't being so damn annoying." She told him before walking to Bonnie.
"Bon Bon, no need for goodbyes. I'll see you on the flip side." She told her.
Katherine walks over to Damon.
"Damon. How you would love nothing more than to drive that blade right through me." Katherine said. "We've already done that, Kitty Kat. I've said all I needed to say." Damon told her.
"I know but I never got to say what I needed to say to you. I'm sorry. You blame me for who you are. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I turned you. I'm sorry that you didn't get to die as a forgotten nobody on a bloody battlefield, and your father didn't get to live another day to be disgraced by you. Damon, I'm sorry that I gave you a life purpose. Passion, drive, desire. I'm sorry that you are who you are, because I'm the one that taught you how to love." Katherine told him.
"I'll see you in hell, Katherine." Damon smirked.
"You know, you would really make a fantastic father. She's gonna be really lucky to have you." Katherine winks at him and turns to Stefan leaving a confused Damon.
"Elena's pregnant?" Damon asked her, getting everyone's attention, especially the blonde's.
"Oh god no!" Katherine faced Damon again. "Can you imagine my little Doppelgänger trying to be a mother while being a vampire?
Poor child." Katherine said before turning back to face the love of her life, Stefan Salvatore.
"Stefan. You know, I've always wondered how it would be like to be loved by you. You've gotta admit, for that one fleeting moment...your feelings were real. It's truly has been the role of a lifetime. Stefan, I love you. And I've always loved you." Katherine told him.
Stefan stabs Katherine with the Traveller's knife.
"Then I guess this is how...our love story ends." Katherine falls down, Matt catches her, then Katherine sinks to the ground, leaning against the couch.
Everyone's watching Katherine, Katherine closes her eyes. When she opens them they're black. She closes them and opens them again.
~DAMON'S ROOM~
Elena is still unconscious on Damon's bed, while Damon and Stefan wait anxiously by her bedside.
"Why is she not waking up?" Damon asked.
"When Gregor left Matt's body, it took him a while to wake up, too. Which gives us a little bit of time to talk about what the hell you did." Stefan told his brother.
"Relax. Thanks to Tyler's friendly donation I'll be fine for a couple of hours." Damon told him.
"A few hours, huh? And then what? What's the plan?" Stefan asked.
"Tell her everything I did." Damon replied.
"Optimistic." Stefan said.
"I don't wanna be another Katherine Pierce. Katherine spent her whole life running from her problems only to die here. All alone." Damon said.
~OUTSIDE THE HOUSE~
Caroline and Tyler lean on Damon's car.
"Is it wrong that I feel…" Caroline started.
"Victorious?" Tyler asked.
"Sad. I know that Katherine is a horrible person but…" Caroline said.
"But, you see the good in people." Tyler said.
"You mean Klaus. Because I saw the good in Klaus." Caroline told him.
"Your words. Not mine." Tyler told her.
Your hybrid bite just killed someone and no one even batted an eye. I sleep with the wrong guy weeks ago and I don't hear the end of it. How is that fair?" Caroline asked.
"I don't know, Care. Maybe people just expect more from you." Tyler told her.
"Why? Because "being good" comes so easy to me? Well guess what, Tyler, it doesn't! I am a vampire. I have the same impulses as you. So I'm allowed to make some mistakes along the way. Yes, I slept with Klaus. But after you walked away from me. That was my choice and I'm living with it, and I don't need to be hearing about it every five seconds. So, just get over it or get out of my life, but I'm done feeling guilty." Caroline walks back inside.
~DAMON'S ROOM~
Elena slowly wakes up
"Hey!" Stefan said.
"Elena?" Damon asked.
Elena opens her eyes and looks up at Damon
"Hi!" She said.
"Are you...you?" Damon asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, it's me. I'm here." Elena replied.
Elena looks at Stefan and Damon, but then notices something under her jacket. It's the syringe that Katherine used on her earlier.
"Elena! Oh my god! Thank god you're ok." Caroline hugged her best friend.
"Hey Care." Elena hugged her friend back.
Caroline's smile turned into a frown. She let go of her best friend and looked at her worried.
"Something's wrong. I can feel it." Caroline said looking between her friends before pulling up Elena's sleeves, revealing a mark.
"Wha-what is that?" Elena asked, panicking.
"The ripper virus." Stefan said.
"The what?" Elena asked.
"It's a venom that the good old Dr. Wes Maxfield created." Damon told her.
"It makes you have the urge to feed on vampires." Caroline said. "What? Please tell me there is a cure." Elena said.
Caroline and Stefan looked at each other while Damon eyed Elena.
"There maybe is someone." They heard.
"Bonnie." Elena said.
"Hey!" Bonnie hugged the brunette.
"If I heard right, you said there may be someone who can cure the virus?" Damon asked as the two friends let go of each other.
"Well she doesn't exist yet...she's not physically here." Bonnie told them.
"What? That doesn't make any sense. How is she the cure if she doesn't exist yet?" Elena asked.
"Are you sure you have the information right?" Damon said.
"Yes Damon. I think." Bonnie said before turning to her blonde friend.
Caroline looked at her confused so did the others.
"What's going on?" Elena asked.
"That's what we want to know as well." Damon said.
"Nadia...uh...before she...crossed over, she told me something." Bonnie said to Caroline.
"What?" Caroline said.
"She said: He would come for her. Don't let them take her." Bonnie repeated.
"Her?" Damon asked.
"Wha-what else did she say?" Caroline asked as she sat down on the bed.
Bonnie just looked at her friend.
"Bonnie?" Caroline asked.
"Wait. What's going on?" Elena asked.
It was silent for a while. She knows she can't keep this from them forever. They would find out soon.
"I'm pregnant." Caroline blurted out.
"What?" Elena asked as Stefan and Damon stared at them. "Care that's-" Elena started.
"Impossible? A miracle? A good thing? Cuz it's really not. I can't drink blood. And if I do, it comes back up. I haven't fed in weeks. I don't know how long I can go on. I am tired and starving. It's a fucking curse." She told them as she got up from the bed facing the four of them.
"That's it Care, it's not a curse. Nadia said…" Bonnie started.
"Yeah, someone is after it. I don't know about you, Bonnie, but that sounds more like a curse to me." Caroline told her friend. "I'm sorry. I—I can't—I—I'm glad you're back Elena. I'm sorry. I got to go." The blonde said before vamp-speeding away.
"So about this cure." Damon said.
"Hmm, the baby is the cure." Bonnie said walking out.
