Red Rain - Peter Gabriel

Present

Milly frowned looking at the calendar, which seemed to revolve completely around Eric and her trying to have this baby. She had been on hormone injections for a little over a month now, and her emotions had certainly been a complete rollercoaster. She had bought a few pregnancy tests, but had saved them under the sink. She felt as if she was too chicken to try them out yet. Glancing out the window, she saw Eric working on her car in the driveway and she smiled. He had been so wonderful through all of this.

Looking at him, she honestly didn't know how somebody could love someone this much? Absently, she played with her wedding band.

June 1988

Milly had taken the bus to head up to the mall while Eric went to therapy. The night at the pond had shaken him clearly, and Milly knew he was in a pretty fragile state. He hadn't wanted to let Milly go home his first night back, on the verge of tears, and tightly holding onto her arm. Milly had to carefully pry his fingers off, before softly kissing his cheek and promising that she would see him first thing in the morning. Eric cried silently, but Milly promised to keep her bedroom window open, and her light on, so he knew where she was the whole night. After climbing into bed that night, her chest and ribs still felt sore from the CPR. When she showered, she saw the tiny bruises on her and sighed, knowing it would probably be a very long time before she went over her head again in the water. After drying her hair, she brushed her teeth, changed into her PJs, and crawled into bed. Moments later she heard the windchimes jingle, and felt a gust of wind, before she opened her eyes and wasn't the slightest bit surprised to see Eric in a white T-shirt and boxers, hair messy, and eyes worried. She gave him a look, but couldn't stay upset. She perfectly understood why he had come. In all honesty if it was the other way around, she knew she probably would have found a way to get over to see him too.

"Eric, I told you I was okay."

Eric just sat on her windowsill and stared at her. Sighing, Milly silently got up, locked her bedroom door, before clicking off her light. She made sure to whisper.

"You can stay, but you gotta leave before sunrise okay?"

They had done this dozens of times before, and Eric was always careful. Nodding, he slid off the sill, and walked with her to her bed. She crawled in first, lifting the sheet up, before Eric crawled in next. The two snuggled in together, before Milly rested her head on his chest and took a deep breath, already mentally noting what she needed to pick up at the mall to get ready for her birthday. She had a million thoughts racing through her mind, but for tonight she was too tired. Instead she just wanted to fall asleep in Eric's arms, and tune everything else out. She felt Eric gently rub her back, before kissing the top of her head. Smiling, she closed her eyes, sighed and slowly let sleep take over.

The next day, she walked Eric to Mrs. Sherman's car who had offered to take him to therapy since she might have an easier time getting him into the car than his uncle. At first Eric stayed planted on the sidewalk, but Milly promised she would be right here when he got out. Eric stared down at her worried, not looking so sure, before she smiled, and undid her hair. She held out her blue hair band.

"Here..."

She slid it onto his wrist.

"You keep this as a reminder you'll see me soon."

Eric stared down at the blue hair tie on his wrist before he smiled softly, lifted his eyes and nodded at her. Milly made sure he locked eyes with her, before she smiled.

"Have a good session, and remember I'll be standing right here when you get back. I promise."

Eric gave a sad smile, before he leaned down, and gently kissed her cheek. Standing back, she nodded, to show him it was okay, and Eric gave her one last look, before climbing into Mrs. Sherman's car. Milly closed the door for him, and looked in through the window as Mrs. Sherman smiled up at her. Eric pulled his safety belt over him and clicked it closed.

"I'll take good care of him, Milly. We'll see you around noon."

"Sounds good Mrs. Sherman. Thanks again."

Eric looked up at Milly with wide eyes, desperate, as if he didn't want to go, but Milly motioned to her own wrist to show him he had the hair tie on. He looked at it, nodded, before Mrs. Sherman started the engine, and pulled away. Eric the entire time kept looking at her like a soldier ready to go off to war and be separated by his love. It broke Milly's heart even seeing his head turn, watching her until they took a right, and disappeared out of sight. Milly hated leaving him alone, especially now. Still, she knew she had things to do before her birthday she needed to do alone, and him going to these sessions without her would help him. Sighing, hating that she already missed him, she rubbed her palms against her jean shorts, before going inside and telling her mom she was going out to hang with a few friends while Eric was at his appointment. She saw the happy look of relief on her mother's face, and hated to think that a big part of that had something to do with the fact she was hanging out with somebody else besides Eric for once. In the backyard Garry and constructing a tree house with Luis, their summer project. Running upstairs, Milly grabbed her purse, before heading out and down the street, before waiting for the bus. She rode it straight to the mall, where she got off, and was thankful today was a super hot day and that everyone would most likely go to the park to go swimming, or the public pool. The very thought of going back into the water scared her to death, but she decided to push those thoughts aside.

The A.C of the mall felt wonderful since it was already starting to warm up. Walking through, she was thankful she didn't see anybody she knew from school. Biting down on her bottom lip she knew her first stop. She entered the main department store, and knew she couldn't go too crazy. She just wanted something pretty... She walked through the different areas, before finding the right department. She hated that she felt her cheeks burn, as she looked around, before looking and smiling. There was a pretty teal set of bra and panties, partly laced, with little peach flowers on the straps. She looked them over, feeling the smooth material, and it dawned on her that she never owned anything this nice before. The price was right, and she figured if she was really intending on doing this, it was more for her than it was for Eric, since she figured as much as she guessed he would like this, he really didn't care about such things. No, she wanted to do this herself. Make her own choice in the matter, and make herself feel beautiful. She smiled, before taking them and bringing them up to the sales woman, unable to help herself from truly believing that this woman who looked more bored than anything knew what she was buying this for.

She checked out, impressed that the bra and panties were wrapped up in tissue paper, and then placed in a bag with the store's logo on it. She knew she had one other stop, and she dreaded it. Sighing, she went to the drug store built into the mall, and went straight to the back. She looked around as if anyone was watching, and felt overwhelmed as well as embarrassed. She sighed, before a sales woman, older, but friendly smiled while walking by stocking the shelves.

"Can I help you honey?"

Milly nearly jumped, clutching her bags, before blushing and dropping her eyes.

"Um...no...thank you."

The woman poilety smiled and continued on with her work, when she knew she had to stop being so embarrassed. She didn't want her mother here, or Geneva. No, she had to be an adult and ask for help now if she truly intended on doing this. Taking a deep breath, she looked at the sales woman.

"Um, actually, could you help me with something?"

The woman putting boxes of perfume up on the shelf, paused, before looking unfazed, and turned towards her, hands on her hips. Milly saw her nametag, said Carrie. Milly smirked, knowing she was still blushing, but decided to keep staring ahead.

"So, what's the difference with these?"

"Latex and lambskin? Well latex is more like rubber..."

She looked down at Milly's stunned face, before she smirked and reached forward and took out a different box.

"This has assorted kinds in it. Maybe you and your boyfriend can decide?"

Milly looked over the box and nodded.

"Um yeah...I'm on the pill already but..."

"Just trying to be safe?"

"Yeah?"

"Smart. Plus, these aren't just for pregnancy. It's good to be safe in other ways."

Milly was sure she didn't have to worry about Eric having any S. , seeing that the both were virgins. Still, she was beyond nervous about accidentally getting pregnant even though she had been on the pill for nearly six months now. Her greatest fear was to have to tell her mother that Eric, the shy special boy next door had done what she was afraid he would always end up doing to her only daughter. Sighing, she looked up at the other boxes.

"What's that?"

"Spermicide gel. It's just another percussion you can take."

Milly shrugged and took it as well.

"Can't hurt."

The woman smiled, and patted her on the back.

"Good girl. Any questions feel free to ask for me, Carrie. Trust me, I know it can be overwhelming."

Milly nodded gratefully, when another sales lady came over, calling Carrie over.

"Carrie? Can you help me unload those boxes in the back?"

Carrie nodded, before smiling at Milly one last time and softly saying as she passed her.

"Good luck."

Smiling back, Milly still felt pretty embarrassed, but a little bit better she had actually asked for help. Holding her items, she prayed whoever checked her out wouldn't be a guy, or judge her. She nodded to herself, knowing she could do this. In fact, she honestly didn't think she would even be able to go out and do this if it was with any other guy besides Eric. Instead, as absolutely terrified as she was, after what happened at the pond, she knew life was too short, and she wanted to do this with him, and experience their first time together. Eric clearly wasn't like any guy.

No, he was better. He was magic.

She smiled, before eyeing some Debbie Gibson perfume that was on sale, and knew she had enough. Smiling, she plucked it off the shelf, before checking out. Lucky for her, the sales woman checking her out was more interested in reading a Rolling Stone magazine, than to fully pay attention to what she was buying. Putting her drug store bag into her bigger bag, she knew she would have to hide these things in the back of her closet until it was time. Catching the bus, she rode back and actually started feeling the small beginnings of giddy excitement. She didn't even realize it...but she was smiling.

Later...

Milly was waiting on the sidewalk as promised when Mrs. Sherman's car pulled up around noon. Milly chuckled to herself when Eric forgot he had his safety belt on, and nearly strangled himself getting out, full of excitement seeing Milly. Scrambling to get out, he threw the door open, before running straight out, and nearly tackling Milly, who he wrapped his arms around tightly. Milly laughed, her eyes widening, ignoring how badly her chest hurt, before Mrs. Sherman called out through the window at them.

"Easy Eric. Remember, be gentle. I told you she would be waiting here for you."

Milly smiled, pulling back from Eric, looking up into his happy big brown eyes, before she looked over at Mrs. Sherman.

"How did he do?"

"Very well. I caught the doctor up on everything, and we're working on ways for Eric to communicate. Dr. Miller said he would love to meet you Milly. Maybe next week?"

Milly smiled looking up at Eric.

"I think we can do that."

"Make sure his uncle knows he needs to have lunch with his medication. You relax too Milly."

"Will do Mrs. Sherman. Thank you!"

Mrs. Sherman waved, before pulling down the street. Smiling, Milly stood there, before turning and looking at him.

"Your uncle is out shopping. How does a PBJ sound?"

Eric smiled and nodded, before he let go of her. Milly went to hold his hand, when Eric smiled, shook his head and motioned to her. Milly raised an eyebrow confused.

"What?"

Eric turned, and motioned to his back before hunching down. Milly laughed.

"You want to give me a piggyback ride?"

Eric looked over his shoulder and nodded, causing her to crack up completely.

"Eric you are really too much."

He motioned again, before Milly rolled her eyes.

"Okay, okay. Hold on."

She climbed up, as he hooked his arms around her legs, and started running towards his yard. Milly squealed with delight, laughing as the June sunshine continued to beat down on them.

A few days later

Milly's mother's car pulled up in front of the houses, as a thrilled Milly jumped out, waving a piece of paper, and running down the driveway towards the back where Garry and Luis were currently in the middle of constructing the treehouse, which at the moment just had a ladder screwed into the tree, and a platform. Eric sat in the grass, sorting out the tiny screws that Garry needed, and the second he saw Milly run into the yard, his face lit up, as he scrambled to stand up and run to her. Milly was thrilled as she waved the paper around, her mother following, fixing the strap of her purse as she walked over. Milly ran and hugged Eric tightly.

"I did it! I did it Eric! I passed!"

Garry grinned, walking over, as Luis cracked them both open pops from the cooler and strolled over.

"You passed it?"

Milly turned, still in Eric's arms as she held up the piece of paper proudly.

"Yep! Piece of cake!"

Garry laughed and ruffled Milly's hair.

"How does it feel now to have your learner's permit?"

Milly smiled.

"Amazing!"

Luis looked unimpressed and shrugged.

"Can you like drive now?"

Before Milly could answer, her mother shook her head.

"Not unless Garry or me are in the car. You need lots of practice Milly. Remember that."

Milly sighed and nodded, before Garry smiled taking a sip of his soda.

"Well, I think that's great. On Sunday if you want a driver's lesson we'll head to the mall parking-lot. Towards the back there's nobody for you to run over."

Milly laughed, as Luis went back to grab a hammer Max had tried carrying away. Her mother sighed, shaking her head before looking at Milly.

"Your friends are going to be at Skips later, remember to start getting ready on time so you're not late."

Garry then snapped his fingers and smiled.

"Ah yes, the big sixteen. Man, to be that age again, right honey?"

Her mother rolled her eyes smiling, before Garry reached over on his table saw he had wheeled out, connected by extension cords to cut wood, and held up a birthday card.

"Happy birthday kiddo."

Milly lit up.

"Garry, you didn't have to do that!"

Garry shrugged.

"It's from your mother, brother, and I. We know you're celebrating with your friends and sleeping over Geneva's tonight, but we're gonna get a cake later this week and do the whole nine yards."

Milly raised an eyebrow confused, before she opened the envelope, and took the card out. Smiling, she opened it, when she saw the check lying inside. Picking it up, she stared at it, before her eyes widened. Instantly she looked up at her mother and Garry in total shock.

"Are you serious?"

Garry grinned, as her mother sighed and stood beside her.

"I want half of that going into your bank account young lady...more than half."

Garry rolled his eyes, before he waved his hand.

"Oh honey, let her have a little fun. She can go shopping, or take Eric to that amusement park down the highway."

"Or start saving for a new car?"

Her mother added. Garry laughed.

"Oh honey, it's about time we face facts. That thing won't be making it that long."

He motioned to her mother's used car in the driveway, which was starting to pop up with endless problems. Lucky for her, Garry knew his way around a car, and did most of the repairs himself. One thing she noticed was sometimes if they were outside and Garry was working on her mom's car, Eric would sit and watch him. Her mother shot Garry a look, but was smiling as he laughed. Milly let go of Eric and hugged both of them tightly.

"Thank you so much."

"Just have fun kiddo."

"Thanks Garry."

Her mother sighed, before looking at her.

"Sixteen. Dear Lord. Where does the time go?"

She then smirked before motioning to the house.

"I'm gonna put lunch on."

She left them, walking towards the house, before Garry smirked, and handed Milly a twenty dollar bill.

"For tonight. Have fun."

Milly made a face.

"No Garry!"

He motioned with his finger for her to hush, before she smiled and hugged him again. Faintly feeling sad that her father wasn't here for yet another birthday, but happy that her mother had found such a decent guy. She knew Garry could never replace her father, but at least he treated them all well, and never acted like Eric was weird, which went a long way for Milly. Standing back, she smiled and looked up at Eric.

"How are you guys doing? Ready to build Luis a mansion up there?"

Garry laughed.

"We're going slow, but it's coming together. Your boyfriend has been a big help with sorting my nails and screws. He doesn't like whenever I fire up the saw, but I give him plenty of warning so he can make plenty of distance between himself and the noise. He watches a lot, and I can tell he's taking it all in."

Milly smiled proudly up at Eric, who had developed a nice golden tan from being outside for so much these last few weeks. Staring up at him, she suddenly then felt that same fluttering of butterflies jump in her stomach as she stared up at him, and thought to herself...

"Tonight, I'm going all the way with Eric Gibb."

Even though Garry had alerted his attention over to Luis who was chasing Max now around with the hammer, she couldn't help but feel her cheeks burn as if she had actually just said this thought aloud. She knew Uncle Hugo was probably going to spend tonight with his war buddy down the street watching the game since his television had cable. That meant he probably wouldn't be home until two, maybe three in the morning. Which meant Milly's plan would work out perfectly. She had lied to her mother saying she was spending the night with Geneva, when in reality she planned on spending the entire night with Eric.

First they would go flying...then head up to the attic, where she had been earlier, dropping a few things off earlier. She was honestly surprised when she learned she had actually passed her permit since a million other thoughts were buzzing through her mind. Still, after finding out she passed, she honestly believed this might turn out to be the best birthday of her life.

That evening...

Milly decided to simply double with Geneva, and Alex. While she went upstairs to shower, Uncle Hugo called Eric over, and Milly told him she would come get him before heading towards Skip's. Once upstairs, she took a nice long shower, shaving her legs, and triple checking that she hadn't missed any spots. She dried her hair, tied it up in a ponytail with a blue bandana, she tried on jeans, and a blue, and white blouse. When she went downstairs, she was stunned to see Eric waiting for her, petting Max on the stairs, his hair damp from a fresh shower, which she was sure he probably gave Uncle Hugo a hard time about, and was dressed in a fresh white T-shirt, and light jeans. She froze, walking down mid-flight, before pausing, and cocking her head to the side.

"Eric?" Eric looked up, and smiled up at her. Milly laughed and she reached the bottom, before she grinned.

"Let me take a look at you!"

Eric got up as Max ran into the kitchen for something to eat. Milly smiled, eyebrows raised as she took him completely in. His tanned skin, his wavy damp brown hair, his clean clothes. Staring at him she smiled, before leaning in close, and standing on her tiptoes, kissing his cheek. Eric blushed, smirking, before her mother walked out with her camera.

"Milly? Eric? Say cheese!"

Milly rolled her eyes.

"Oh mom..."

"Don't oh mom me. Come on, pose! You two look great. Like a couple of grown up teenagers."

Milly laughed, before she got an idea. She directed Eric who stood at the bottom of the stairs, before she climbed a few behind him, and reached her arms down. Somehow Eric got what she was going for, and gently held onto her wrists and actually smiled this time towards the camera as Milly rested her chin on the top of his head. Her mother snapped one, before Milly laughed, before seeing if Eric could hold her in his arms. He scooped her up no problem, and held her bridal style, swinging her around. Milly playfully kicked her feet as her mother laughed, shaking her head and snapped two more, one of which Milly was kissing Eric's cheek.

Once her mother had enough photos, she told Milly to have a good time. Milly said she had her stuff already at Geneva's, and would see her in the morning. Her mother kissed her cheek once Eric sat her back down, and wished her a happy birthday. Hugging her mother tight, and truly missing these few fare moments with her, she hugged her as tight as she could, before her mother glanced up at the clock.

"Okay, have a good time you two. Be safe."

Taking Eric's hand, Milly promised, before the two went out through the front door, and down the porch steps. It was sunset, and faintly they could hear the power lines humming. Neighbors down the street were either letting their children play in the sprinklers, or were grilling out. Milly held onto Eric's hand as they made their way down the sidewalk. Glancing at him, she smiled. "You look very handsome." Eric smirked, dropping his eyes as they walked. Milly smiled, listening to the sounds of their sneakers hit the pavement as they continued towards Skip's.

Later...

Eric and Milly sat at a booth across from Geneva and Alex. They had all shared a pizza, and two rounds of root beer floats. Geneva had toasted to Milly, and for not going into the light, and staying here on Earth to party with. Everyone laughed, but Milly caught the confused look in Eric's eyes as they all clinked glasses. Geneva and Alex had both chipped in, getting her a Polaroid camera with film. During dinner, they all took turns posing, and laughing, even asking the waitress to take several group shots of all of them together. Milly absolutely loved it. After dinner, Geneva asked if they wanted to join them at the drive-in. Knowing what they had planned next, Milly poilety said no thanks, that she was going to take a walk with Eric. Geneva and her had their own system worked out. Whenever Geneva told her mother she was at Milly's, almost 99% of the time she was off with Alex, usually parking. When Milly said she was sleeping over Geneva's, she was usually with Eric. They knew to cover each other in case their mother's talked, and lucky for Milly, Geneva's parents didn't keep super close tabs on her, so as everyone was concerned, she really was having a sleepover with her tonight. Geneva somehow didn't seem to expect anything, which Milly was grateful for. Her nerves were already shot enough. By the time they all left Skip's it was dark out. Several hours had passed since they arrived, and Milly carried her camera with her free hand, while the other held Eric's. They decided to go around the block to avoid anybody seeing them, and had slipped in through the side door to Eric's, and found Uncle Hugo had already left for the evening. Milly smiled, before she looked at him.

"Wanna walk to the edge of town, I just wanna be a little careful and make sure it's dark enough. You know, maybe we can go over Mystic's woods?"

Eric nodded, before Milly set her camera down, before she offered her hand. He took it, and they slipped out again. Walking out of the neighborhood, looking at all of the different houses, as they became further and further apart. They passed a few of the farms on the outside of town, and town Route 9 towards Mystic's Woods. They held hands, walking first on the sidewalks, then on the side of the road, before they reached the fields, and the beginning of the woods. Milly held onto Eric's hand, before they walked together off into a field, and further and further away from the main road. Of course Milly was paranoid that somebody might see them, but she figured it was dark enough now, and they were so far out of town the chances of anyone seeing them if they stuck to this area were low. Standing there in the field, a warm wind blew, causing the tall milk grass to gently shake around them. Milly smiled, watching Eric as he looked around in wonder.

Finally, she took a deep breath and offered her hand. Eric looked down, saw it and smiled before taking it. Very slowly, they began to lift off the ground.

Later...

They flew for almost two straight hours over the woods. It was hands down the most beautiful night Milly had ever seen. Eric flew her over lakes, and valleys, mountains, and forests that seemed to go on forever. The wind was cool, yet relaxing, and by the time they landed in Uncle Hugo's side yard, their feet softly touching the grass below, Milly truly felt the most alive she had ever felt. This was different from the first time she went flying with Eric. Somehow she wasn't scared, or nervous she might fall. Instead, anytime she glanced over at him, he would look over, lock eyes with her and nod, and everything felt safe.

Milly laughed with excitement, before they stood in the darkness together. Milly had noticed the streetlamps all near Eric's house were blown out. Somehow she had a feeling he had something to do with this so nobody could see. The two of them went inside, finding the house still and empty. Milly took her camera off the kitchen table, before motioning for Eric to follow her. His hair windblown, and cheeks slightly red and chapped from the wind. She figured her face probably looked the same way. They went upstairs, before Milly grabbed her bag she had stored up there. Nervously playing with her bag, she looked over at Eric, who was waiting by the stairs.

"I'm...gonna get ready. How about you turn the lights on?"

Eric nodded, passing her, before Milly watched him start clicking on the Christmas lights, casting a warm cozy glow about the attic. Milly told Eric she wouldn't be long, before heading to the bathroom downstairs at the end of the hall. She freshened up, using a fresh face cloth, before unzipping her bag. She double checked with the razor she brought, before knowing she was being silly, before taking out the bra and panties she had bought at the mall. She changed carefully, before fixing the bra straps, and looking at her reflection. She smiled at how nice her breasts looked cupped in this bra, and liked the way the lace felt against her skin. She knew if she put on too much makeup Eric might be confused, so instead she put on some quick eyeliner, and mascara. She blinked a few times, before taking out her new perfume, dabbing some on her wrists, neck, and then between her breasts. She had brought one of her oversized shirts to wear over this, and slipped it on. She slowly put her hair up, taking it off her neck, before using a bobby pin to secure it. She stared at herself and couldn't believe it.

This was really her.

Smiling, she packed her other clothes and belongings back into her bag, before taking a deep breath and left the bathroom, and climbed the steps to the attic. She knew from this side of the attic, the glow of the lights was nearly impossible to see from all the junk piled up. Walking, listening to her bare feet press against the wooden floorboards, she turned, and saw Eric sitting on the pile of old blankets and pillows waiting for her. Milly smiled, before walking over to him. Setting her bag down in an old rocking chair, she smiled nervously. Eric was watching her every move. Setting everything down, she then looked in the side pocket of her bag. All she had brought along tonight was the condoms, which just by looking down she felt her ears burn. She dug out the box of condoms, before turning towards him. Her eyes dropped.

"Um, I'm on the pill, like I told you. It's something a woman takes so she...won't get pregnant. I bought these just to be extra safe. There was other stuff too, but I figured this might be a good start..."

She walked over, before seeing he dragged over the small radio she had gotten for Christmas. She brought it over here months ago, along with several of her favorite cassettes. Usually, whenever they came up here to makeout, they would softly play music. Milly quickly learned Eric didn't like any heavy metal, but his favorites seemed to be Peter Gabriel, the Miami Vice soundtrack, U2, and Genesis. They usually listened to these three tapes on repeat whenever they were up here. She smiled seeing he had brought it over as if it was any other regular night. Milly then slowly knelt on the blanket, before crawling over. She saw Eric's eyes go to her thighs and legs, which were showing as her shirt slowly rode up as she got closer to him.

"So, I'm sure you've never put any of these on before, but I casually asked Geneve once, and she said the latex is the best. She said Alex said they pinch kinda, but I can help you put it on. Mrs. Sherman brought you downstairs when we had our Sex ED class. God were you lucky, I was so embarrassed!"

She saw Eric was staring at her. Milly took a deep breath, before she smiled.

"I heard it sorta hurts, but that's normal. Sometimes girls even bleed a little. Not like how I told you girls bleed, but it still happens. I swear I should be scared...but I gotta be honest Eric, I'm sorta excited. Maybe because it's with you. Do you...still wanna do this?"

Eric looked at her, before eagerly nodding which made Milly smile. Looking down at herself, she set down the box of condoms, before she unbuttoned the first few buttons of her shirt, and slowly slid it off her shoulders. Eric's eyes widened, as she knelt there in just her panties and bra. She took a deep breath.

"I bought this special. Do you like it?"

Eric nodded, eyes huge before Milly smiled. Leaning over, she popped in the Peter Gabriel tape, and fastforward it until it landed on Red Rain. Personally, her favorite song to kiss Eric too, since it sounded so exotic and romantic. Smiling, she looked at him.

"Take your shirt off Eric."

Eric continued staring at her breasts, before he blinked, taking a second, and pulled his T-shirt off. Milly had seen Eric shirtless millions of times, but she still never quite got used to it. There wasn't any hair on his chest really, besides a little trailing below his belly button, and what was growing under his arms. Milly then knew they would have to start with him first. She smiled, before reaching out and touching his chest. Something she had done constantly, but somehow this felt different. She could feel his warm skin, and heart pounding beneath her hand. Smiling, she then motioned to his jeans.

"Your jeans, then boxers. We'll try to put the condom on, then I'll finish undressing."

Eric took a second, and Milly could tell his eyes were fixated on her breasts. She smiled.

"Go on."

Eric nodded, sitting up against the wall before unbuttoning his jeans, then lowering the fly, and slowly sliding his jeans down. He had already kicked off his sneakers, and pulled them off, before his hands went to his lap, and Milly had a pretty idea why. Smiling, she sat there, before reaching and gently touching his leg. Eric looked flushed, before she motioned to show him it was okay.

"It's okay, nice and slow."

Eric nodded, before he hooked his thumbs into the waistband of his boxers, and pulled them down, before pulling them off completely. Milly smiled, before her eyes dropped down to his lap, before quickly looking away. Her cheeks were burning, but she knew she had to stop being such a chicken. She looked back down, and saw Eric was covering himself. Her eyes looked at his thighs, the light golden hair growing on them, and his hands covering himself. Her mind went back to that night before Thanksgiving all those years ago, now she had seen him naked for the first time ever, and how polite he was, covering himself. Milly knew he had already done enough, before she reached behind herself, and unclasped her bra. Slowly, she slid them off her arms, and let it drop. Eric's eyes widened as he stared at her. Milly smirked nervously.

"Do...you wanna touch them?"

Eric looked at her unsure, before she smiled.

"It's okay Eric. You can, it's alright."

Gently she reached towards his lap, gently took him by the wrist, still refusing to look down, before she placed his right hand completely on her breast. She felt her nipple grow hard beneath his warm palm, before she saw Eric looking at her breasts. His eyes were big, and she saw his breathing had gotten heavier. Slowly his fingers began to touch the soft flesh, as if he was experimenting, as his hand fully cupped it, feeling the small weight in his hand. Eric's hands just recently had really discovered her breasts, but always over the clothes. This was the first time he was really feeling them. Milly took deep breaths, before she looked down, and saw his penis sticking straight up. Eric must have seen where she was looking, and quickly he dropped his hand, yanking it away as if her breast had suddenly turned into a snake, before he covered himself embarrassed, and looked slightly ashamed. He bowed his head, covering himself, before Milly sighed, and reached forward, touching his face gently.

"Eric, it's okay. That's normal." Eric looked up, blushing, before she smiled.

"We have all the time in the world to figure our bodies out. It's okay. I know that's what happens to guys. It's totally normal. I'm flattered in fact that I'm the one causing it to do that."

She smirked, before she reached into the box, and pulled out one of the tiny foil packets.

"Are you ready to put this one?"

Eric looked flushed, and very overwhelmed, but nodded. Milly ripped it open, instantly frowning at how slimy it felt between her fingers. She then scooted closer to him.

"Eric, you need to lift your hands. It's okay..."

Eric took a second, before slowly moving his hands. Milly gulped, before she sat as close as she could, and tried to think of the bananas back at school, and not feel Eric's eyes closely watching her as she leaned over, and went to roll it on him. Her fingers just barely grazed his penis, when Eric's eyes widened, and he quickly turned over, and made a low moan.

Instantly Milly knew what had happened.

Eric kept his back to her for just a second, his shoulders sagged, before Milly felt terrible. She waited a minute or so, before her eyes drifted to Eric's bare ass, his back, his spine, and the back of his head. Sighing, she shook her head.

"Eric, I'm sorry..."

Eric looked over his shoulder, his face flushed, before Milly chewed on her lip.

"I heard that's normal. We've never done anything like this before. Maybe we can..."

Before she could answer, Eric sat back up, and he gently took her by the arms, no longer embarrassed, but struggling to speak. He was sweating lightly, and looked straight into her eyes.

"M...M...Milly?"

Milly smiled, staring at him.

"That's right Eric."

He stared at her, before moving forward, and pressing his lips right up against hers. Their mouths opened and closed, as she felt his tongue slip into her mouth. Milly slowly began to respond, kissing him back, before she felt his clumsy hands back on her breasts, gently rubbing, and squeezing. That's when she felt within just a few minutes him starting to respond again against her bare thigh. Milly pulled back slightly, out of breath and suddenly very warm. She looked down, before lightly laughing.

"I guess the girls from the locker room are right. It really doesn't take long for a guy again."

Eric smiled, but seemed confused, before she plucked another condom from the box, ready to rip the foil. Just then though, Eric took the tiny package from her, before Milly nodded.

"Good thinking. If you need help let me know, I'm just gonna lay back..."

She slowly laid herself back against the musty smelling blankets, before looking up at the lights. She suddenly felt as if she was going to be embarrassed, and might ask Eric to snap the Christmas lights off. Still, she wanted to see him, and decided this was good enough. She laid back, before very slowly slipping her panties off. Once they were off, she kept her knees together, laying back against the old pillows and rolled up blankets, as Eric's back faced her as he looked down at himself. Finally, he nervously glanced over her shoulder. Milly took a deep breath. "You okay?" Eric nodded, before he turned over, and slowly crawled on top of her as Milly laid her legs down, and slowly spread them. She looked down only once to see his penis now with the condom on, looking even odder than it did before, and surprised it could stick up that high, nearly touching his stomach. Milly listened to the soft music, before she laid herself down and tried her hardest to relax.

"Um, do you..."

She didn't finish as she felt his penis graze the inside of her thigh. She leaned up, and kissed Eric as he hovered over her, before she knew he didn't need any help. Pure instinct was taking over, and he gently kissed her lips, before he laid on top of her. She felt his thighs push her legs further apart, before he reached down, helping himself, before he entered her. Milly snapped her eyes shut at the sharp hot pain that ripped up through her stomach. She hissed out softly, before Eric froze, and stared down at her uncertain and worried. Milly laid back, before her hands slipped over his arched shoulders, and pulled him closer down towards her.

"No it's okay Eric, keep pushing down, keep going...it's okay."

Eric looked down at her, his lip slightly pouting, before Milly tried not to show the discomfort in her face as she forced a smile.

"Don't stop. Put it all the way in. It's okay."

Eric waited another second, before he stared straight ahead, and she bit down on her bottom lip as he laid his full weight down on her. He laid there not moving for a second, before Milly tried to tune out the waves of sharp cramps that were flowing through her. This was worse than putting a tampon in, or even her own fingers. Eric was much bigger, and it stung. Laying there, she gripped onto his bare back, before she whispered to him to keep moving, but slow. Eric took a second, staring down at her worried, before she felt him start to move, in and out slowly. He stared down at her, not taking his eyes off hers, before he slowly began to silently thrust in and out of her. Milly laid there silent, feeling him move, before it dawned on her... This was really happening. Eric and her were having sex, and they had done this their own way.

The music continued to play, but Milly didn't hear it. Instead she laid there, holding onto Eric's back, before after a minute or so, his pace began to quicken. His breathing got heavy again, and suddenly he snapped his eyes shut, and he moaned, and stiffened. Milly knew from Geneva, and the girls at school that this was what you called when a guy came. She knew stuff came out of their penis, and this felt wonderful for them since they had an orgasm. She had also called this having a climax. Milly laid there silent, before Eric collapsed against her, breathing heavy against her shoulder, his warm breath touching her skin. Milly laid there silent, several feelings hitting her all at once.

She laid there stunned, before Eric lifted his face, flushed, and sweaty. His hair hanging down. He looked at her.

"MmMmMilly? A...A...Are...You...o..o...o...o.."

She knew what he was trying to say. Gently cupping the side of his face she smiled and nodded.

"I'm fine."

Eric smiled, looking absolutely exhausted, before Milly tilted her head up, and softly kissed him.

Later...

They tried two more times, one of them being successful. Finally Milly's cramps were hurting too much, and she checked the time, and still hadn't heard Uncle Hugo come home. She knew it was taking a big chance, but she wanted to freshen up, since she did see a little evidence that she had in fact bled a little bit. Slipping the shirt over herself, she watched Eric slip his boxers back on, and together they went down to the bathroom. Milly knew Eric hated showers, but she knew they wouldn't have time for a bath.

"Go get your ear plugs."

Eric left for just a second, before returning, in the middle of putting them in, before frowning when he saw the shower going. Milly shrugged as she shed her shirt, and stepped underneath the showerhead. She motioned to him. "Come on." Eric shifted from one foot to another, before finally peeling his boxers off, and stepping into the shower with her. Milly pulled the curtain back, before she closed her eyes, and tilted her head back, feeling the cool refreshing water pour over her.

Then... She felt hands on her hips. Turning, she saw Eric looking at her, his hair wet and plastered down. Smiling, she turned, before loosely putting her arms around his neck, and softly kissing him. She could feel him getting hard again against her leg, but she honestly was exhausted, and just wanted to wash up, and go lay down with him.

The shower was brief, but they stepped out, and helped towel each other off together. Milly helped Eric take his earplugs off, before she slipped back into her shirt, and he got back into his boxers. They went back up to the attic, where Milly changed into shorts, a sports bra, and baggy T-shirt. She hadn't brought a blowdryer over here, so she simply put her hair up again to dry, before deciding on hiding the condoms up here beneath some old boxes. Taking the used one, she remembered what Geneva said and picked them up with tissues, before taking them down to the kitchen tash, and burying them deep, before getting two cans of pop out of the fridge, and climbing back to the attic where Eric was waiting for her. She made sure all of her stuff was packed up, before she handed him a coke, and saw he had put the U2 album on next.

Climbing up beside him, she snuggled in close, and both silently sipped their Cokes, while listening to the music. Finally Milly turned towards him.

"Thank you...for being my first. I'll never forget it. This was the best birthday ever."

Eric smirked, before Milly put her can of Coke down.

"We can keep trying, and do different stuff. I'll fully admit I'm really sure what I'm doing, or if I'm any good...but if we're patient with each other I think it can always be like this."

Eric gently petted her hair, before she kissed his jawline, starting to feel some stubble come in. She still felt sore down below, and from what she heard it would take awhile before she got used to it. She wondered how Eric felt, but judging from how he looked, he seemed really happy. She just hoped it was as special for him as it had been for her. Laying her head against his chest, she listened to his heartbeat, before slowly drifting off to the soft music, and sounds of Eric breathing.

Slowly, she drifted off to sleep. It would be a night she would never forget for the rest of her life.
