Ok, so... well, It's been a long while. I'm really sorry, I've been incredibly busy that last few months and just haven't been able to do much of anything outside of academics.

I hope y'all like this. I don't know when I'll get to Chapter 6 but hopefully it'll be sooner than it took to get to this chapter.

"Alright, I've got you hooked to a blood & heart monitor, brain monitor and a tachyon enhancer." Caitlin listed as she entered the dorm-like room. She was now clothed in matching top and bottoms pajamas, grey with white dots sprinkles as the night dress's design. Barry sat on a cot next to two machines, more vertical than horizontal. There were wires and cords hooked up to his head, chest and arms, intricately placed by Caitlin's hand.

"Thanks... but... I this really all necessary? All I had was a power fizzle, that's all." Barry tried to reassure her, she gave one stern look back at him and he went quite. "It's not exactly the most comfortable." Barry commented on the array of technology about him.

"Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to go on not knowing what's going on." Caitlin apologized as she sat in the other bed across the room from her speedster patient. Barry lay back, setting on arm leisurely behind his head. Caitlin swung her legs up onto the soft grey velvet of the bed. "Comfortable?"

"Do you really want an answer?" Barry quipped back at her.

"Barry... I am sorry... though, if you can get almost killed by an evil genius from the future, tortured by a psychopath from another earth, and practically pooped on by an evil emo version of yourself... I think you can handle a night of monitors." Caitlin almost laughed.

"Yeah. I just don't think It's a big deal. And we did miss the get together."

"I know. I know you were looking forward to Joe's meal... I was too. But your health is the most important thing right now." Caitlin was serious again, she stared across the open expanse of about eight feet of room between her and Barry. The overhead light was dim, but they could still see each other clearly.

Barry sighed, "If you think it's for the best... alright." Caitlin breathed out in relief. She knew by Barry's tone that he wouldn't try to sneak out in the middle of the night.

A few minutes went by in silence. The light grew dimmer and dimmer, the dull concrete walls did little to help illuminate the room. "Cait..."

"Yes, Barry?"

Barry paused before he could say the next words he dared utter, "Nevermind."

"What is it Barry?" Caitlin was curious now, she sat up slightly to get a better view of Barry's face, which was still aimed up at the ceiling.

"Why did you put a tachyon enhancer on me? I'm not going to be running anywhere."

"The enhancer will make your readings easier to track. Without it, the monitor would have a very weak feedback. With the enhancer, I can get a stable feed on your tachyon percentage and then I can just reduce it by the enhancer's ratio." Caitlin explained patiently, she lay her head back again.

After several more minutes of silence, Caitlin turned her body to face Barry, her back now against the cold cement wall. "Barry..."

"Yeah?"

"What's it like to have superspeed?"

"You mean... running with superspeed? Well, It's like everything is slowed down around you, you're... you're the only one awake even. And you can see the small things better than ever before. You can see the tiny ripples that appear for a millisecond on the asphalt as you race over it. You can see the water droplets stilled in mid air. And the feeling inside... it's of pure energy, like I could run for days and never stop." Barry spoke, remembering his motions, running through a frozen world.

"It sounds amazing."

"Yeah, it-" Barry stopped mid sentence, a disturbing gasp arose from his mouth and one of the machines began beeping incessantly. Caitlin leapt up, scrambling over, the overhead light blasted on again as Caitlin monitor screen, Barry's heart had stopped it's rhythm, Caitlin's stomach lurched as she read the readings.

"No, Barry, No, Barry. Stay with me." She was now frantic, she began chest compressions, trying resuscitate her fading patient. "Barry, stay with me!" She gave a rescue breath, more chest compressions. "Barry!" Two minutes, five minutes, eight minutes passed, Caitlin worked tirelessly trying to bring her friend back. "Barry, no, please, I can't lose you!" She practically screamed as she slammed on his chest. "Barry. No!" Tears streamed down her cheeks, her vision was blurry as she continued, relentlessly trying to get him to breath. She leaned down, setting her lips on his, breathing into him, trying desperately to get some air back into him. He was growing pailer by the minute. "Barry!" Caitlin really did scream, she sucked a breath in, blowing into him despairingly. "Barry... I love you." She heard herself say into him, she didn't know why, she didn't even know how, it just came out. She knelt beside his lost body, burying her head in his chest. She'd failed, she'd failed to save the one person her entire career, her entire life revolved around. She'd lost.

As she knelt their, sobbing in grief, Barry shot upright, an incredible gasp shooting from his throat. His eyes opened wide as nearly fell onto Caitlin. Caitlin nearly passed out right their, surprise and shock catching her by surprise. She launched herself into Barry, holding him tight in a deep embrace.

"What happened!" Barry's voice was gasping and throaty as he recovered, his color was already nearly normal.

"You... You..." Caitlin found herself at a loss for words, she was an experienced medical professional, but nothing had hit her like seeing Barry die like that. "You..." She broke into sobs again.

Seeing her distraught so, Barry reached again for her, pulling her into another embrace, "Hey... it's alright. It's alright." Barry comforted her, still not quite sure what had just happened. "Shh, shh, shh. It's alright, I'm alright." He repeated over and over, he stroked Caitlin's head and hair, calming her down.

"I'm sorry, Barry. I shouldn't be so.." Caitlin pulled away from him again, he was still sitting stock upright.

"Hey, hey. No. It's ok, Cait." He held her shoulder and side comfortingly. "You're alright, I'm alright." Caitlin took a deep breath, then was back to her professional self, standing to recalibrate the machines, her mind was back to figuring out what was happening to Barry. "Hey," Barry pulled her back toward him again, "Hey, Look at me." She reluctantly looked into his emerald eyes, "Are.. you alright?"

"Barry, I just watched you die." Caitlin almost choked up again. "I.. I can't lose you, Barry."

"Hey, You're not. You're not." Barry tried to reassure her, stroking her arm.

"Really? Because you almost killed yourself running and now I can't save you when you flatline!" She exclaimed. Barry could see that she wasn't really mad at him, but he knew she was scared.

"Come here." He pulled her into him again. He pressed at the control panel in the wall and the lights dimmed again. He sat their, holding Caitlin for the night. "I love you." He whispered after she had fallen asleep.

That night did not go as planned or expected. Barry knew something new had come out of the events which had unfolded then. But he didn't know what or how.

Alright, I was kinda hoping that I could extend on this scene but I liked it where it was.

You can see how this is kind a burner story. It's gonna take a while probably. I also want to explain the scene a bit more. I know Caitlin in the show is very professional usually with Barry and his health, but she literally watched him die. So her nerves are a bit shaken and it can be traumatizing for anyone to go through that anyway.

Anyway, if you liked this, leave a comment for suggestions, ideas, or just your thoughts. Thanks.
