"I've just remembered…" Julia remarked sweetly as she suddenly came back and headed to David with a smile, "Would you be so kind to look around is there anything for breakfast in? I'm so hungry, but I wouldn't go out if I don't have to."
"Sure, just leave it on me," nodded David kindly.
"I think there's a few eggs and some bacon in the fridge, but I'm not really sure."
"No problem. I'll manage everything, don't worry."
"Thanks, that's so sweet of you…" she smiled and in the next moment, she just leant over and kissed him as if it would have been the most natural thing in the world… and everything slowed down again… although he knew it'll be hopefully part of the game, he was still surprised, in the best possible way of course… while Rob was literally freaked out and murmured a quiet 'what the fuck' as he was watching them…
"…What did you just say?" grinned David triumphantly as they remained alone, it was such a pleasure to watch that bastard as he tried to calm down.
"Never mind…" he mumbled angrily, "But if you have so much time, then you should rather make a coffee for me."
"You really want a coffee, huh?"
"Yeah, it's not that a difficult thing as you may think."
"Oh, really? Then why don't you go down and get one for yourself, hm?" David replied firmly, then turned around and opened the fridge, but instead of looking for something to eat, he was just staring at the food inside, "Oh, shit…" he sweared as he realized the more kisses he wants from her, the more time he has to spend with that bastard and he just couldn't do that…
"What is it? Just not the fridge's door hit your little finger?" asked Rob mockingly,
"If something would be hit, that surely wouldn't be my finger!"
"Oh, so I should be scared now?"
"I would say you should… but it seems I don't have to, because your hands are already shaking!" he replied as Rob suddenly tried to hide his nervousness with not much success… David just rolled his eyes contemptuously then turned back to find something to eat and took out a few things… some eggs, cherry tomatoes, bacon and a pack of pre-grated cheese, but when he wanted to start making their breakfast, Julia'd just finished with dressing and was ready to start the work with Rob…
"I've already prepared everything, so come on and sit down…" smiled Rob jovially as he patted the sofa next to him. He was quite a trigger, because he placed every document the way she had to sit right next to him as always, but now fortunately David was there and he perfectly knew what Rob was doing… so instead of cooking, he rather sat down in front of them with a newspaper and a coffee in his hand,
"I hope you don't mind if I take a quick break from cooking," he grinned. "I'm just running through the news…"
"Well, uhm…"
"No, not at all!" she cut in happily, "You know, how much I love when you're near me…" she added sweetly, feeling relieved and grateful, because she didn't have to prepare to block Rob's approaches this time, so it was such a relief to sit next to him like that.
"I know…" he winked, "And I won't say a word, I promise. Just do the work, at least the sooner you finish, the sooner I get you back." he just lost himself in her eyes for a moment, before turning to Rob, who was pissed off as hell.
"Then we should really start the real work now, okay?…" he asked frustrated, trying to ignore David, but it wasn't an easy thing, because he kept an eye on Rob's movements. It was so nerve-racking, that he could barely concentrate… he always felt David's eyes on him… and it was not a paranoid thing, because David really watched him all the time… so only half an hour had passed when Rob gave up,
"Sorry, but I… I think I don't feel well, we should continue this at another time, if it's okay."
"Are you sure?" asked Julia innocently, perfectly knowing what's going on.
"Yeah, I still has a little hangover from yesterday, so I think it's better to go. No problem?"
"No, of course not. Just go… I've already promised Saturday would be David's anyway." she added with a smile, what was rather a slap in his face.
"Fine, then… then see you on Monday," he murmured and finally left her apartment…
"Wow, it was quite a morning!" sighed Julia with relief as they remained alone.
"Yeah, first round is over… and I really hope he will never come back."
"I wouldn't bet on that, but you know there's always hope!" she chuckled, then added, "What do you think, did he believe us?"
"Well, actually I'm not really sure…" answered David with his boyish smile.
"That's why I thought a kiss would be a good idea, you know making things more believable. I hope you don't mind…"
"No, of course not!" protested David immediately, "I've just wanted to suggest it."
"Great," she smiled happily, when she spotted Rob on the street. "What on earth…"
"It seems he's heading to that coffee shop over there," added David, peeping out of the window too.
"Yeah, because you denied that coffee from him." she chuckled.
"Or rather because he doesn't believe us, and… yes, he sat down at the window, just to keep an eye on the house."
"You mean he wants to know you leave or not?"
"Uh-huh, if we are together, I'll stay and if we're not, then I'll leave, so…" he turned to face her with a cheeky smile, "I think it would be better for me to stay… but just if you have nothing else to do."
"Actually I haven't, but…"
"…"
"I don't want you to waste your day off."
"Don't worry, there's really no place I would rather be." he added and their eyes locked for a moment.
"I think I'm glad to hear that…" she smiled, feeling those butterflies again. "So what would you say for breakfast? I'm pretty hungry."
"Sure, I've just wanted to say that I found quite a few things in your fridge."
"Well, that would be a miracle, but show me…" she chuckled as they went to the kitchen and opened the fridge, "Hey, there's still a box of fish and chips from yesterday. Why didn't you eat it, wasn't it so good?"
"No, on the contrary, it was really the best, but… I just wanted you to have some food if you would wake up at night."
"Oh, that's…" she just looked at him with a grateful smile, "That's just so thoughtful, thank you." she whispered, feeling she loved him even more,
"And we should throw it away now…" he took it out from her hand.
"But why?"
"Well, maybe it's only my thing, but I think fish is a bit dangerous to eat the next day, so…"
"Oh okay," she nodded and let him to throw it out. "Then look what's more inside here… uhm, these are not bad for an omelette, but unfortunately we don't have any bread in."
"And what about that baguette over there?"
"That's hard like a stone, so I think it doesn't really count."
"Just leave it on me," he winked and took it out. "I will slice it, adding some butter and cheese and put it into the oven for a few minutes."
"Wow, that's a great idea… so tell me, what can I help?"
"Uhm, could just chop those tomatoes while I prepare the bread?"
"Yeah, sure…" she agreed and they started cooking, both doing their part in silence, when she had to admit something, "You know, I… I still haven't say thank you."
"Thank you for what?" he turned to her with a smile.
"For staying with me last night…"
"You don't have to say that, I just didn't want anything bad happen to you… hey, you're smiling like that again."
"Yeah, because I think I could really get used to this."
"Having me here every single day?" he flirted, but then he suddenly stopped.
"…"
"Sorry, have I said something wrong?"
"No, not at all. I just remembered what was it like to be married." she sighed sadly, "Oh, please don't misunderstand me, I don't miss Roger, just it was good to come home to someone."
"Yeah, I know that feeling very well."
"You'll probably think I'm mad, but…"
"Just tell me…"
"When I have to pop down for something, I usually leave the TV and the lights on… so when I get back I can feel like I'm coming home to someone." she didn't know why she told him, it was quite embarrassing. "It's a stupid thing, I know…"
"No, absolutely not. Going home to the quiet and empty flat is one the most depressing things, so believe me I know what you're talking about."
"…You're missing your kids, right?"
"Yeah, awfully." he nodded with a sigh. "They fill the house with life and laughter… but there's another thing what makes a house a real home… the woman you love."
"Oh, yes… yes, of course." she agreed, but her mood changed in a flash, "Well, I think I should really start to set the table…" she murmured and left him in the kitchen at a loss. He didn't know what was wrong, just he said something what upset her…
While Julia was setting the table, she felt so stupid… she knew what has happened recently proved the opposite of it and she felt the chemistry between them more than ever before, but she still couldn't get rid of the thought that probably he's missing his wife… missing the kids, missing Vicky and their old life together. Maybe he's just trying to find some solace in another woman's company… another woman, who pulls him into a doorway and just kiss him right there, gosh…
"Hey, you okay?" asked David softly as he stepped next to her, putting down two glasses.
"Yeah… yeah, of course."
"No, I think you're not." he added, what made her look at him. "I know I said something wrong, but I don't know what it was."
"No, you said nothing wrong just…" she didn't know how to tell him, "I was just thinking on family life, what it can be like if you miss your kids and… your wife." she shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, but realization hit him like a brick.
"Oh, no… I'm not missing Vicky!" he added quickly. "It's already over, we're just friends now!… I just wanted to say that it's a great thing to go home to a woman you love, in general."
"In general, really?…" she asked and he just watched her for a few moments, then he started smiling suspiciously… suspiciously, because he realized she's jealous.
"…"
"What?"
"Nothing." he shook his head with a chuckle, "Just something popped into my head…"
"Really? Then you should rather watch the oven…" she pointed behind him, "Other way all the food will be ruined soon."
"Oh, shit!" he turned around as a flash, while she just felt an incredible relief what mixed with a little worry, hoping she didn't reveal that she's maybe… probably… just a tiny little bit… jealous.
Breakfast was nice and tasty, while they 'accidentally' touched each other quite a few times… sending those pleasurable vibes to the other, what they both enjoyed so much…
"So how was it?"
"Uhm, very delicious…" answered Julia, when she realized that he was watching her with that suspicious smile again,
"Yeah, I can see it."
"…"
"You're still hungry, right?"
"Why…" she cleared her throat, trying to be nonchalant, "Why do you think that?"
"Are you kidding with me?"
"No, it's just a simple question." she kept her poker smile.
"Because…"
"Yes?"
"Because you eat every little morsel on your plate?" he chuckled and she finally gave up.
"Right…" she admitted it, "Maybe I'm a bit hungry."
"Then why did you let me eat most of the omelette, hm?" he asked her lovingly. "I asked if you wanted it or not…"
"I know, but…"
"…"
"Okay…" she gestured, "I just saw how much you can eat and I didn't want you to remain hungry, if you already stuck here for the day."
"First of all, I love being with you…" butterflies came to life in her stomach again, "And second, I think that's the sweetest thing I've ever heard." he just smiled and before she could realize what's happening, he just took her hand and kissed her palm lovingly. "I guess that's what they say 'a match made in heaven'."
"How you mean that?" she asked sweetly, still holding her breath a bit from the touch of his lips.
"You know, yesterday the fish, and now this… we're really like in that movie Curly Sue, where the father and daughter want the other to have food."
"That's the movie where they're homeless, right?"
"Yeah, this scene always makes me so touched."
"I didn't know you watch this kind of girly movies, it's quite a rare thing." she smiled warmly.
"I grew up with two sisters, so what should I say?" he chuckled, "But now tell me, what would you like to eat?"
"Knowing the content of my kitchen, I think there's not much choice remained for me."
"Don't bother with it, I'll pop down and bring whatever you want."
"Whatever I want?" she flirted.
"Yes, anything."
"But…"
"Yeah?" he leant a bit closer, hoping for… whatever,
"But then Rob will see you…" she finished with a chuckle, biting her lip.
"Right, then I'll use the backdoor."
"Uhm, actually… he can see both doors from the coffee shop, so…"
"Then we should order something."
"Of course, why haven't I thought about this before?"
"So what do you want?" he asked and took out his mobile, opening the food ordering app. "Something traditional or burgers, or Chinese food? I know you love Chinese…"
"Yeah, but this time I should eat something different. Just give it to me…" she asked and grabbed his mobile, "Let's see what you usually order…" she smiled and checked the ordering history. "Wow, it seems you really like pizza, right?"
"Yeah, it's a great kind of food… and you can put it into the fridge for later," he winked.
"Very funny…. right, then we should order some pizza, this 'Memphis' you usually order seems nice… BBQ sauce, cheddar, roasted chicken, bacon and onions."
"Cool, then I'm ordering it," he took back his mobile, "Do you want some soft drinks?"
"Yes, a light coke please… hey, what are you laughing at?"
"Looks like you're one of those girls…"
"Which girls?"
"Who orders a family sized pizza with tones of cheese, a cake with ice cream… and a light coke."
"Hey, it's totally normal!" she chuckled and slapped him playfully. "And speaking about pizzas, I have an idea… what would you say if we would make some popcorn and would watch a movie together?"
"Of course, I'm totally in! But in that case, we should also order some ice cream…"
"You can order ice cream too?"
"But of course, you do not order regularly right?"
"No, I just buy it on my way home or…" she didn't want to say it aloud, "Or Rob brings food."
"I see…" he nodded with a sigh, "But now, we're gonna order it, so what kind of ice-cream would you like?"
"Is there a coffee flavored?"
"Yeah sure, and what would you say for a little raspberry and vanilla to it?"
"I'm already loving it…" she agreed happily.
"Great, then I'm just adding your address…" he flashed a cheeky smile, "And it's done… it says 60 minutes."
"That's okay, and you can find some cash at the door." she added, but he just chuckled.
"I've already paid by sending the order."
"Ah, but…"
"We're starting this again?" he smiled, finding her independence cute and funny.
"Yesterday was a date, so it was okay that you paid, but…"
"So it seems you can remember what happened yesterday," he grinned and she just blushed, adding quickly,
"Just a little bit…"
"Uh-huh," he grinned. "So yesterday was a date, so I paid… but now, it's more than okay for me to pay, because we already moved a level up."
"Moved a level up?"
"Yes, because we're in a relationship now."
"We're in a… in a what?!"
To be continued…
