Night
Everyone is returning to their prospective households for the day, but there was something strange in the air. Dex was contemplating talking to Maylu about Lan and vice versa with Princess Pride talking to Lan about Maylu. But the worst tension was between the two net navis who haven't spoken a word to each other. Roll decided that if Maylu can fix her friendship with Lan and they have been friends since forever, she could do the same with Megaman. After looking in a mirror trying to raise her self-confidence, she made the first move and transport herself to Megaman's door. Before she could even knock on the door, Megaman opens the door.
"Hey" Roll shyly said.
"Hey, what brings you here?" Megaman asks.
"I actually want to talk, about you and me"
"What do you mean?"
"I want to move past this awkwardness and be friends again. It feels weird not being around you anymore like we used to be"
Megaman steps aside to allow Roll to step in. She looks around as she eventually takes a seat in the chair. Megaman sits next to her.
"Well, you can start explaining from the beginning I guess. I assume you two got close the same way that Maylu and Dex did?" Megaman asks as Roll shakes her head no.
"It actually took longer. Even when Maylu eventually told Dex yes to going out with him, I still wasn't around Guts that much. I stayed to my home more and I only came out when Maylu convinces me otherwise. It wasn't until they were engaged when I decided to give him a chance. It took many months, but I started to develop feelings for him" Roll explains as Megaman nods his head. Megaman grabs her left and looks at the ring.
"When was yall wedding?"
"That's the thing I wanted to explain to everyone at the reunion. This is a promise ring, not a wedding or engagement ring. I was terrified at first when I first saw the ring because it was only two years, but he promised to only love me"
"I haven't seen him wore one"
"Well, he knew I couldn't make the same commitment as he could."
"What about now?"
"I still have my doubts, but I'll be okay"
"Alright," Megaman answers as he realizes that he is still holding Roll's hand. Thoughts ran through his head about the tingling sensation running through his hand, but he slowly let go.
"What about you and Knightman?"
"Testing the waters, but nothing serious"
"Alright"
It is an awkward silence between the two before Roll starts to laugh.
"What's funny?" Megaman asks.
"The prank Lan and Maylu pulled on Dex. I was trying not to laugh so hard"
"Me either. I question what goes through their heads to come up with that idea"
"So, are we cool then?" Roll hesitantly asks. She wants to be sure that she got her best friend back and things can go back to normal, or similar to what normal used to be.
"Yes, I would like that. It's been strange only talking to Protoman. I actually miss you" Megaman confesses as Roll slightly blushes.
"I miss you two Mega"
"Mega? I haven't heard that nickname in years"
"Does it bother you? Because I can call you Megaman"
"No! I mean you can continue calling me that. It doesn't bother me at all"
"Alright, good! Well it is getting late; I should be getting back to Maylu before she worries"
"Yeah, tell her I said hi"
"I will"
They both stand from their chairs and stare at each other. Roll decides to make the first move and wrap her arms around Megaman's neck initiating a hug. Megaman freezes up for a little bit before returning the hug. They hug, for what feels like a couple of hours but actually a couple of seconds, as Roll leaves. Megaman smiles as he got his best friend back, for now, and hopefully, forever.
Well, that's the end of this chapter. Sorry for it being this short, I didn't have a lot planned out for their reunion compared to Lan and Maylu, but I wanted to address this in its own chapter and not a part of a side story. Until next time, R&R
