Onto the story, I don't own anything!
The following month
Everything was fine for everyone, well except Dex and Princess Pride. Ever since Lan and Maylu made up and are best friends again, whatever time that wasn't dedicated to working or already planned dates, went to each other. It wasn't that the pair wasn't happy for them, but they had enough and just didn't know how to tell them. Though Princess Pride knew that pressuring Lan into talking would damage their relationship, Dex decides that since he's married, he doesn't have much to fear...or so he thought
Dex POV
I sat in our bedroom waiting for my wife Maylu to return home from yet, another outing with Hikari. He's happy that his wife is happy to have his best friend back, but now it feels like time went back to the past when they were younger. Every time I came back to visit, Lan and Maylu were so close I thought they were dating but was confused when they answer that they weren't. A couple of minutes, I hear Maylu entering the house. She calls my name as I reply saying that I'm in the bedroom. She lightly runs upstairs and opens the door, but her face expression slightly change.
"Hey, what's up?"
"It's just...you and Lan have been hanging around each other a lot lately, not that I'm happy that you two are on good terms, but don't you think that you are spending a little bit too much time with him?"
"We're just catching up, is that a crime?"
"No, it's not...it's just that-"
"You're jealous over the amount of time I spend with Lan because you rather have me spend it with you. Is that right?"
"..."
"I can't hear you Dex. You're going to have to speak up a little bit louder"
"Yes, I'm jealous happy! I want you all to myself"
"I get that, I really do, but don't you think to rekindle a relationship, one would have to spend time with another?"
"Relationship?"
"Friendship is a type of relationship, is it not?"
"It is"
"Glad we on the same page. Don't think too much about this. I'll go start making dinner" Maylu said as she kissed me on the cheek and went downstairs. I rub my head as he thinks to himself, 'Maybe I'm thinking too hard. Even when we were kids, they swore up and down that they weren't together, but they acted like they weren't'.
My phone vibrates as he checks to see that it is a text from that strange random number again. It reads: Time's running out. Keep what it is yours before it is gone forever. Confusion still runs through my head as to who and why I'm receiving these messages, but I will get to the bottom of it no matter what.
Normal POV - Lan's House
Princess Pride and Lan are enjoying dinner, but there is an unknown presence in the air. Lan stares at Princess Pride as she pokes at her food.
"Hey, Princess Pride is there something on your mind that's bothering you?"
"It's nothing Lan"
"You sure? You've been silent since I been home"
"Well, besides my parents constantly checking in on me to see how I'm doing, it's just, I know I may be overstepping, but you always be out the house now"
"What are you talking about?"
"I mean, you are always out with...her"
Lan stays silent as he is now the one poking at his food. He stares down at his plate before he looks back at her and he responds, "Every time I leave, that doesn't mean I'm always with Maylu. Sometimes I go to hang with Chaud or visit my dad at work"
"But you always end up hanging with Maylu in the end. I hear you two every time you come back"
"We don't live that far apart. Besides, there are times when I run into Maylu and offer to walk home even though I know she's more than capable enough to make the walk by herself"
"I get the many coincidences that lead to you two crossing paths, but even outside of that, she just always gravitate towards you"
"Maylu does not gravitate towards me. Wouldn't you speak to someone that you know if you see them while you're out?"
"Not every time I see them -mumbles- but I should have guessed that"
"What is wrong?"
"I'm jealous okay! Whatever you and May got going on seems like you two are dating even though she's married, and I feel like I'm in the middle, though I'm your girlfriend and Dex is her husband! She should be spending all her spare time with him, not you!"
Lan stays silent for a couple of minutes before he stands up from the table. Princess Pride knows that she crossed a line that should have never been crossed and try to speak, but Lan beats her to the punch,
"First, her name is Maylu, not May. Second, friends hang out with each other when they make plans, which is something we did. You've been busy doing something with your parents, so I don't ask you if I need to make an errand or want to go on a walk somewhere to clear my head. How many times do I have to tell you that there is nothing to be jealous of? She's married and I'm with you so I don't see what you have to be jealous of. I don't like having this conversation with you because it just going to end the same way"
"So why don't you tell me why you two never dated?"
"That's none of your concern"
"I'm pretty sure it is. It will make me understand better if I just knew what y'all relationship is truly like"
"We just became best friends again so not much has changed"
"I mean the real relationship. You're going to convince me that you never liked her in that way in the slightest?"
"Why does it matter?"
"Because I want to know"
"Well, its information that you don't need to know"
"Or want. Just say that you don't want to tell me because you liked her"
"Fine, you want to hear me say it so bad, fine I'll say it...I LIKE MAYLU" Lan yells as he walks to his room and slams the door. Princess Pride slowly walks to the guest room and falls into bed. Tears begin to form in her eyes as she realizes that she did overstep, and what makes it worse, Lan said like, not liked.
Well, that's the end of this chapter. Until next time R&R!
