Maylu's phone constantly rings as she tries to enjoy her meal with Lan, Chaud, and Yai. Yai takes the phone and finally answers.
"Would you stop calling my best friend? It's obvious that she doesn't want to talk"
"I would rather hear it from her than from you Yai"
"Well I rather hear the truth on why you did this to my best friend, but we all can't get what we want now can we"
Chaud, Lan, and Maylu laugh at their sassy friend, knowing she can make anything difficult. After a couple of minutes of hearing them go back and forth, Yai ends the call and puts the phone up so she can return back to eating and the conversation at hand.
"Yai, I just really want to thank you for taking me in. You could've put me in a hotel room or something else"
"And why would I put my best friend in a hotel? I would rather have you here than anywhere else"
"Really, thank you"
"Now that we hope that he doesn't call back, what is your next move?"
Maylu shrugs her shoulders, "I feel like there is something else that is missing from this, like a second person, but I don't know who could have possibly helped him"
"Okay, let's think about it. Who could have gained something from this besides Dex finally getting with you?" Yai asks as Chaud faces change. Everyone looks at him as he holds his hand up.
"This is just a suggestion, but what are the chances that the day you come back that Princess Pride magically came back to tell you her situation. Like we don't know her life, but this just sounds planned out that the only other guy that she knows that she could be somewhat interested is is you" Chaud said as everyone contemplates this idea.
"That could also explain the technology aspect. She's royalty and probably had someone from her board do it. All it took was one trip over it while you were away to make the change" Yai adds as Lan rubs his temples.
"On the off chance that I didn't start liking someone else either. This just sounds so messed up" Lan says as he lays back on Yai's bed. The fact that someone who looks so innocent could plot something this big like this?
"The only way to prove this is for you to ask her yourself, which means you can't avoid her like the plague," Chaud says as they both chuckle.
"You saw the size of my house, you can't avoid anyone in there. Besides, I eventually would have to talk to her, just"
"Not about this. You know you don't have to make this one big conversation, you can make it separate if that will make you feel better" Maylu says as Lan looks at her. A phone buzzes as this time it wasn't Maylu's, it was Lan's. Lan checks to see that it is Princess Pride as Chaud motions him to answer it. He answers as he motions Yai to not say anything:
"Hey Lan"
"Hey, what's up?"
"Are you still with Chaud? I thought you were only dropping him off and coming back?"
"That was the plan until he challenged me to a match. We actually just finish before you called"
"Oh, well did you win?"
"It was a tie, but we already talking about scheduling a rematch later on in the week"
"Well, that's good. So are you on your way back?"
"Yeah (Chaud motions him to ask) and I think we should talk when I get back"
"Oh, about what?"
"You already know. I'll see you later"
Lan hangs up the phone as Chaud pulls him out of bed.
"You rushing like you are about to watch"
"Oh I am watching, just from afar so don't try to take the conversation away from the living room"
Lan shakes his head as he lets Chaud drag him off the bed. The girls laugh at him as Lan gives them a small wave goodbye. Yai stops laughing when she realizes that Chaud didn't even say goodbye or give a wave, which made Maylu laugh even more.
Back at Lan's house, Chaud sneaks into the bushes as Lan enters his house. He takes a deep breath as he hears Megaman cheering him on from his pocket. Princess Pride is sitting on the couch talking to someone on her phone, but as soon as she looks up to see Lan, she hangs up the call.
"Hey"
"Hey"
"What was it that you wanted to talk about that you couldn't say over the phone?"
"Well, I finally found the words I wanted to tell you about the whole arranged marriage thing"
"And?" Princess Pride says with the biggest smile on her face, but Lan knew that he will be slowly breaking that.
"These past almost 3 months been nice, but I can't see marriage with you. You are a really great girl who is talented, funny, smart, but not for me. I'm not that type of person to marry someone only after 3 months of dating. I'm really sorry" Lan says as Princess Pride looks away. "Are you sure you won't be happy if you marry the suitor?"
"I only hear about him from my advisory, but I haven't met him yet"
"Then who knows if he will be the better guy for you than me. You might actually like this guy, but is blinded by the fact that you didn't choose him. Give him a chance"
"And what if I give him a chance and in the end, I don't like him?"
"I don't know how your country works, but if in the end, you don't like him, that's something you have to work out with him or your parents. I do like you, but not enough to marry you"
"So why can't we work on it. Just get married and don't have to like each other"
"It may be your responsibility, but not mine. I wish I could help you more to the point of finding a suitor, but I don't want to marry with no love if I have the choice too. Talk with your mom, you told me she married into the family. Figure out how she did it"
Princess Pride stayed silent as Lan takes another breath. He might as well rip off the bandage about the other issue before she stops talking to him altogether.
"Princess Pride, how did you know that I would be there for my school reunion?"
Princess Pride takes gasp and tries to move, but Lan grabs her elbow and uses his other hand to have her face him and ask again.
"I took a chance to see that you were home and I was glad that you were"
"But what would you do if I wasn't? Would you really wait for me?"
Princess Pride nods her head as Lan scratches the back of his head. He decides to continue ripping off the bandage
"It's strange though that you had so much faith that I'll be there. Like you had someone else told you that I was heading home"
"Are you trying to accuse me of spying?"
"I'm not accusing you of spying. It's just strange that you somehow knew I was home. I also tend to notice that whenever you and Dex are in the same room together, you try not to look at him"
"Because I don't know him. I shouldn't look at someone that I don't know"
"I understand that, but it's like you never try to speak to him or if he tries to say something to you, you brush him off. Almost like he knows something about you that you don't want to talk about"
"Is that what he told you?"
"You know I haven't been talking to Dex. All I'm saying is that it's strange that you came back here around the time I was coming back and yet you hit me with this marriage arrangement. What if I was dating someone already?"
"I knew that you weren't"
"What made you think that?"
"Maylu is the only girl you're interested in. That Jasmine girl you were never interested in her"
"Funny that you mention her since I never told you about her"
Lan knew he was onto something when she starts to fidget a little. He wonders why can't she come out and say it. He realizes that he has no choice.
"Why did you help Dex in blocking communication between me and Maylu?"
