Maylu opens her eyes as the sun is beaming down on her. She rubs her eyes as she notices that she is lying on something warm. She looks up to see that she is still lying on Lan. Trying not to wake him, Maylu slid out of Lan's arm and went back to Yai's room to grab some new clothes to change in to. She hears the sound of someone moving and turns to see Yai kneeling next to her. Yai pulls out a white dress from Maylu's suitcase and hands it to her.
"May I ask why this dress you want me to wear?" Maylu asks.
"We are going outside to eat today to take our minds off of everything," Yai answers.
"But it's only noon and your backyard?"
"Brunch time Maylu. Now get dressed and meet us out back in 30 minutes."
"And how do you plan on waking up Chaud?"
Yai smiles as she turns around and skips happily to the bed. With a grip on Chaud's arm, she yanks him out of bed, startling him from his happy slumber.
"Why?"
"Brunch in 30. I will come back if you're not dressed, and ready" Yai says as she skips out to their assumption, wakes up, Lan.
"If I weren't in fear for her next tactic, I would roll over and go back to sleep," Chaud says as Maylu hums in agreement.
30 minutes later, everyone is sitting underneath an umbrella as they are finishing up brunch. There was some chatter, but it quiets down when Lan's phone starts to ring. He checks to see who is calling as he had a feeling about who it is, Princess Pride. On the first ring, he is hesitant to answer as Yai violently shakes her head no. On the second ring, Chaud nods his head as Lan looks at Maylu. Maylu nods her head as he answers the phone on the third ring:
"Hey Lan"
"Hey"
"I know you're at Yai's place right now, but my parents called me today saying they're on their way to your house and your door is locked."
"How long until they get there?"
"A couple of hours, but it's going to take some time to pack my things."
"I should be back in an hour."
"Okay, see you then."
"Bye"
Lan ends the call as he resumes back to eating fruit. He knows all the three of them are staring at him, but he smirks at them as he continues to eat.
"I'm not going to beg, but if you want to use my car back, you better tell me why she called," Chaud says as Lan shakes his head.
"Her parents are taking her home today, and I have to let her in my house so she can get her stuff," Lan says as he shrugs.
"You didn't make her a key?" Yai asks as Lan shakes his head no.
"Yai, no one has a key to my house. When I'm there, I usually leave the door unlocked because I know who a) stops by and b) not everyone will check to see if it's already unlocked. There have been times you came over, and the door was already unlocked." Lan says as he finishes his orange juice and stands up. "Is that good enough to use your car back?"
"I guess this time it will. I don't know about next time," Chaud jokes at him as he gets up as well.
"Do you plan on coming back today?" Yai asks as Chaud shrug his shoulders.
"I have a dinner meeting, so it all depends. I'll text you."
"Okay," Yai says as Chaud kisses her on the cheek. Lan and Maylu 'oooos' at them at Chaud chases Lan out to the front of the mansion. Yai playfully pushes at Maylu as she laughs.
"Stop it, Maylu."
"But it's cute when you two show any affection to each other"
"We're private people. Besides, you're one to talk. Did you know I had to spy on you and Lan to see any action?"
"I know now," Maylu says as Yai takes off running back to her room. Maylu rolls her eyes and follows her.
At Lan's house
Chaud drops Lan off at his house with a finger pointing at him, signaling that he better gets a call later. Lan unlocks the door and texts Princess Pride that the door is unlocked.
"This has been an interesting 3 months."
"You're telling me, Hub. I don't know what Maylu is going to do now that she knows what Dex did."
"She always knows that she will have her friends supporting her decisions."
"I'm going to support her no matter. She is my best friend."
"Lan, it's just you and me talking. Do you still have feelings for her?"
"I do, but I'm not going to try and rush anything. I don't think I'm even going to tell her"
"Why not?"
"It's too soon, brother."
Before Megaman can respond, they both hear the doorknob turn and turns to see Princess Pride entering. She gives Lan a small smile before heading into her room to start packing up her things.
A couple of hours later, Princess Pride is at the door, double-checking she has everything. She looks at Lan as he opens the door for her as a bunch of men in suits starts to grab all her things.
"Lan"
He looks at Princess Pride but remains silent.
"I'm so sorry for everything that happened. Not the marriage proposal, but between you and Maylu. I hope that we could be friends again."
Lan places his hand on her shoulder and smile, "One day."
Princess Pride smiles back before saying, "I just hope I didn't ruin your chance at a relationship."
"With Dex? I'm pretty sure I can forgive him one day, and we can go back to being friends."
"Not with Dex, I'm talking about with Maylu."
"What do you mean?"
"I know you were scared to start anything because you will be apart, but you won't be apart now. Both of you established careers here, and I feel like you could make it work."
"I value my friendship with Maylu. I'm not going to pursue a relationship with her, especially when she's hurting now."
"But you will help heal her through this. She is going to need you, Lan. Second chances are hard to come by. Don't miss yours over fear."
Princess Prides hugs him as she walks up to her limo, but not before turning around and say, "I'll be keeping an eye out for the mail"
"Why?"
"Because I definitely want physical proof when you two get married."
Lan smiles as he shakes his head and waves her off as she waves back. Lan re-enters the house as he lays down on the couch. As if on cue, his phone vibrates. He answers, already knowing who it is.
"So, how it went?"
"It was fine, Chaud. She's going back home, and I told her one day we could be friends again."
"Well, that's good, no awkwardness. So what are you going to do now?"
"What do you mean?"
"Are you going to pursue Maylu or not?"
"You're like, the third person who asked me this, and my answer hasn't changed. She is still down about Dex, and I don't think now is the time to start unraveling past feelings. Besides, it's not reciprocated."
"What do you mean? We all know Maylu likes you."
"As her best friend. She's been married to Dex and learning how to love him. She's not going to change overnight and start thinking about our relationship. It's way too soon for her to put her heart all out there."
"I understand. I'm going back to Yai's later if you want to tag along."
"Sure, just let me know when you're outside."
"I will, later."
"Bye"
Lan hangs up the phone and sighs. Just what is he going to do about his feelings for Maylu?
Later that night
Lan, Chaud, Maylu, and Yai are sitting on the couch, watching a movie.
"So Maylu, have you thought about what you're going to do next?" Chaud asks as Maylu nods her head.
"I told Dex I would talk to him tomorrow to sort out everything."
"Everything as in?" Yai asks
"I'm divorcing him. Our relationship started on a lie that even over time, I won't be completely over it. Staying in this relationship will bring on more pain than healing."
"Just say the magic words, and I will hire people to move his stuff out," Yai says as Maylu laughs.
"He can move his own stuff out. Good thing I never moved away after college and got to keep the house."
"Even if you didn't, say the magic word, and it'll be done," Yai says as she looks at Lan. "So you don't have a comment to make?"
"I'm just curious on are these the same people you're going to use if Chaud takes too long in suggesting for you two to live together because I would like to see that."
"I'll send you the e-vite," Yai says as they both laugh. Maylu rubs Chaud's back in comfort. "So it wasn't awkward when she left?"
"Not really. She asked if we could be friends again one day, and I said yeah. Other than that, nothing," Lan answers as Yai puts on another movie.
"Well, that's good. She might be okay one day."
"One day, huh?" Lan says as he and Chaud share a laugh. They look at the screen and sigh. "Pride & Prejudice, really Yai?"
"It's a great movie, and I promise you, this is the last one," Yai says as everyone turns their attention to the movie.
As the credits start to roll, Lan opens his eyes to see that everyone has fallen asleep, but he feels some weight on his shoulder. He looks over to see that Maylu is sleeping on his shoulder. He smiles as he looks at Chaud to see that he is also awake. They both carry the girls in Yai's room to sleep as they walk to the guest room to fall asleep.
