Narrator's POV:
"That's right, push Lady Elizabeth! Mey-Rin, more hot water and towels! Move!" Caterina ordered as Lizzy screamed bloody murder. Meanwhile Ciel and Sebastian were waiting in the drawing room.
"How could this be taking so bloody long!?" Ciel paced back and forth as Sebastian stood in the corner of the room.
"Young Master, I wouldn't recommend continuing to pace about like a madman." Sebastian tried to reassure Ciel.
"Sebastian, you're not helping." Ciel snapped as Sebastian opened his mouth when Mey-Rin walked in.
"It's twins!" Mey-Rin hopped up and down as Ciel sat in a chair, holding his head as he smiled broadly.
"How's Lizzy?" Ciel asked as Mey-Rin stood up straight.
"She's, a little weak, but she'll recover in a couple of weeks. The doctor said you can go see her if you'd like." Mey-RIn gave a small smile as Ciel flew up the stairs to see Lizzy laying down in the bed, her face somewhat pale and covered in sweat, and here eyes fluttering.
"Ciel, did you see them?" She asked in a weak voice as his heart stopped.
"Lizzy, what's wrong?" Ciel looked at the doctor.
"Lord Phantomhive, she's tired. She needs to rest; thus I wouldn't recommend her to get out of bed for two weeks at least." The doctor closed his bag as he walked away.
"Lord Phantomhive, would you like to meet your son and daughter?" Caterina walked in holding the twins as Ciel smiled brilliantly. Catalina carefully handed him the twins. Ciel braced himself and was sure to mind their heads.
"Aren't they beautiful? They're perfect." Lizzy breathed as she slowly sat up.
"They are indeed, they take after their mother." Ciel gently sat down as Lizzy took up one of the twins.
"They have your eyes and your sweet smile." Lizzy looked up at Ciel as he blushed.
"Hmm. What should we name them?" Ciel asked as Lizzy smiled brilliantly.
"Josephina and Jasper."
"Oh, those names are appropriate." Ciel nodded as Lizzy leaned forward and kissed his cheek as Ciel felt a tear come to his eye.
"Oh Ciel, what's this?" Lizzy cupped his face with one hand.
"Nothing, I just . . . never thought I could be this happy. And I never imagined myself, being a father."
"You're amazing Ciel, you'll be a great father. I just hope I'll be a good mother." Lizzy cradled Josephina as she drifted off to sleep.
"You'll be an amazing mother Lizzy." Ciel kissed her cheek as he laid down next to her as they watched the twins sleep while they too drifted off.
"They're just adorable." Catalina giggled as Sebastian came up from behind her and whispered in her ear.
"We should put the twins to bed."
"Hmm." Catalina nodded as the managed to carefully put the twins to sleep. Everyone slept peacefully that night.
A few months passed by and everyone was adjusting to the new, sleepless schedule.
"Dammit all!" Ciel rolled around in bed as Lizzy mumbled in her sleep.
"Your turn." Lizzy grumbled. Ciel rolled out of bed and walked into the nursery adjacent to their room.
It had gone on like this for days, which turned into weeks, which turned into months. Lizzy insisted that she and Ciel be the ones to care for the children, thus they were taking turns to check on them throughout the night. Slowly but surely the twins were growing and showing a mixture of both their parents' characteristics. They had light blond hair with dazzling peacock-blue eyes and delicate features. They were the cherubs of both the Phantomhive and Midford families. The in-laws couldn't get enough of them and were constantly visiting, which allowed Lizzy to rest and Ciel to manage to take a breath. Both Sebastian and Caterina were entrusting the Phantomhive Manor to the servants as they continued investigating, but to no end. The kidnappings only became more gruesome as threatening notes were sent to homes with young children and more often than not, toys were found in abandoned alleys as well as small shoes and articles of clothing. Caterina was seething with frustration and anger. Sebastian also felt rather perplexed.
"I've asked every damned grim reaper, demon, and angel I know about this and they all simply lead to a dead end. Not even the Undertaker has any leads. There are no bodies found. Nothing but these blasted notes!? What kind of sick twisted game are they playing at!?" Caterina paced about in her kitchen. Sebastian sat in the living room with his left thumb playing with his bottom lip as he used his right hand to pet one of Caterina's cats.
"This is the most mystifying case I've ever worked on. And I have worked on several rather baffling ones. What I don't understand is where the children disappear to and how there are no leads." Sebastian stood up. He walked over towards Caterina.
"They must either be paid to keep quiet or they simply don't want to be found and thus no one's uttered a word about this." Caterina finally sat down at her small dining table and sighed.
"You keep saying 'they,' are you assuming it's a group of demons or angels? Or grim reapers?" Sebastian sat down next to her. Caterina nodded.
"The only reason why I can't think it's just one person is because something would have lead us to the individual by now. Sebs, it's been nearly a year now! So if it's not a person, then perhaps a person and a demon or a person and an angel."
"Or a person and a grim reaper."
"Precisely, I don't see any other way for these children to disappear like they have been. Huhhh, I just wish things went back to normal." Caterina placed her head on her folded arms, her ears went flat and her tail drooped.
"And what exactly is 'normal' for us?" Sebastian raised a brow. Caterina turned to look up at him and pouted.
"We haven't had sex in forever! And I miss being around the twins. They're growing up without us being there. And I never thought I'd be a kid person, but they're so precious!" Caterina ran her fingers threw her hair in frustration. Sebastian patted her on the back gently.
"I know, things have been keeping us rather busy and unable to allow for certain pleasurable opportunities, but I'm sure we'll figure out who's behind all this. And I also miss those two, rather adorable, children. I actually rather envy Lord and Lady Phantomhive. I wouldn't mind being a father one day." Sebastian smiled to himself. Caterina blushed at the thought of miniature Sebastians running around with cat ears and tails.
"Oh, well um . . . I . . . I have to tell you something." Caterina sighed as her door slammed open suddenly.
"There's been another kidnapping!" Their newest recruit barged in. Sebastian's brows furrowed.
"What is it Angel?" Sebastian asked. Caterina stood up, ears and tail perking up.
"Well, it's a boy, and a girl, but this time they're eleven and twelve." Angel came in, he had snowy white hair with crystal blue eyes, long white lashes, pale skin, and usually wore all black. He was actually an angel disguised as a person, sent down in order to help investigate. True, at first Sebastian and Caterina were completely against the idea, but after some time, Angel proved to be worth his weight in gold (which maybe wasn't entirely substantial, but he was still a valued member of the team).
"I just finished making my mail deliveries when Scotland Yard appeared at a house I had just delivered a letter to. Apparently it was from the kidnapper. By the time the parents were able to look for their children, who usually play outside in the streets, they'd already gone missing. The only thing left behind was the girl's shoe, and the boy's hat. I think I detected a bit of evidence, but I can't be too sure. Look at this." Angel walked in, closing the door behind him. He walked over to the kitchen table and put down a rather small ring with a crest on it. "It didn't look all too familiar to me, and it looks like it's made of silver."
"Hmm, now it seems we have a lead." Caterina grinned as her sharp canine teeth showed as Sebastian's eyes glowed.
"Good work Angel, now, let's go visit a friend shall we?" Sebastian put the ring in his pocket, the crest with a cross surrounded by eagle wings was facedown.
