(Monday, 4:00PM; School; Akihito's PoV)

Another boring day of school (or as it's more commonly known, hell) is finished. I can't wait to get out of this place. The final bell rings and everyone is rapidly packing up. Looks like everyone has the same idea, get the hell out of here as fast as possible. Just as I finish packing up, I feel a tap on my shoulder. Who the hell is annoying me right now-

Sayori: "Aki? We're going to the Literature Club, remember?"

Ah shit, I forgot about the club.

Aki: "Yeah! Let's go!"

I need to act like I didn't forget or else I'd never hear the end of it.

Sayori: "You didn't forget, did you?"

Aki: "Nope! Not at all!"

Sayori: "Okay... if you say so. Alright let's get going!"

Aki: "Yeah let's get going!"

The walk to the club is longer than I expected, it's on the third floor of the school which I never go to. All my classes are on the second floor.

Aki: "Why is it so high up?"

Sayori: "Well a lot of the clubs took up the classes on the first two floors, so we had to take one on the third floor. On the plus side, we have an amazing view!"

Aki: "I guess that's something to look forward to."

Shortly after we reach the clubroom. The door in front will decide the rest of my school life. There can be anything behind those doors, and whatever it may be I am not prepared for it.

I gently open the door...

As soon as I open the door I don't even have a chance to look around before Sayori yells to the whole club. Unfortunately she's right next to me, so my ears are taking a lot of damage.

Sayori: "Hey everyone! I brought a new club member!"

As soon as Sayori makes the announcement, a short girl with pink hair and a tall girl with purple hair turns around.

?: "Ugh, you had to bring a boy?"

What does this tiny girl have against me? I literally just walked in and she's already dissing me.

?: "Welcome to the club. We hope you enjoy your time here."

The girl with purple hair seems more mature than the pink-haired girl, and she's only a little bit taller than me. Maybe two or three inches more.

?: "Akihito, what a surprise! Never thought I'd see you again!"

Oh no. shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshitsh-

WHY IS SHE HERE?!

Aki: "Heyyy there Monika... funny seeing you here..."

Monika is the most popular girl in school. Might I also add the most attractive girl in our grade as well? What the hell is she doing here?

Monika: "I should be saying the same too! Never in a million years would I have thought I'd see you again Akihito!"

SHE EVEN REMEMBERS MY NAME! This can't possibly get more awkward. I can already feel myself heating up a lot. I mean, I'm in the same room as the popular girl! And she just so happens to be my crush.

Sayori: "Whaaaa?! You guys know each other?!"

I don't blame her. A guy like me knowing Monika is unreal.

Aki: "Yeah uh... we had the same class together last year... that's all..."

Come on, don't embarrass yourself Aki!

Monika: "Yep! He was always really shy and quiet in class though. I don't really know why, but everyone's different I guess."

Wait, why would she remember those details about me? Ok that doesn't matter right now. How come Monika is here? I thought she was the president of the Debate Club.

Aki: "H-hey Monika, quick question i-if you don't mind me asking."

Monika: "Hm? What is it?"

Aki: "W-weren't you in the debate club? W-what happened?"

Monika: "Oh! I quit the debate club, the politics were too much for me so I just left. After that I just wanted a club that can be a calm space for people, so I created the Literature Club!"

Aki: "Wait so that means... you're the president?"

Monika: "Hehe, yup! Monika the president, at your service!"

Aki: "That's cool I guess-"

Sayori: "Anyways let me introduce you to the others!"

Guess she got annoyed at me for not wanting to meet the others.

Sayori: "That girl there is Yuri, she's the smartest one in the whole club!"

Yuri: "D-don't say things like that, S-Sayori!"

Sayori: "Oh come on Yuri, you know it's true! Anyways, that's Natsuki, she might seem tough at first, but she's really a sweetheart."

Natsuki: "You don't mess with me and I won't mess with you, capisce?"

Aki: "U-uh sure. W-whatever you say."

She already scares me.

Sayori: "Alrighty, time for cupcakes!"

Natsuki: "Sayori shut your mouth! You don't need to scream!"

Sayori: "Ehe- sorry I just got really excited."

Natsuki: "Whatever just sit down at the table or something."

Yuri: "I'll go prepare some tea then."

Wait, how can they make tea? Oh that doesn't matter right now. I notice there are a few desks pushed together to make one big table. Everyone has already taken a seat besides Yuri, who has gone to get water for the tea. I take a seat next to Sayori, who is practically jumping in her seat.

Sayori: "Come on, when can we have cupcakes?"

Sayori attempts to grab a cupcake, only to have her hand slapped by Natsuki.

Natsuki: "Don't touch my cupcakes!"

Sayori: "Uwaaa! Meanie! Why can't I have one?"

Natsuki: "We gotta wait for Yuri, dummy!"

Sayori: "Hmph, okay..."

An awkward moment of silence ensues. Luckily Monika saves the moment.

Monika: "So, Akihito. Tell us a little bit about yourself!"

What is this, kindergarten? Better answer instead of just sitting here like a dumbass.

Aki: "Well uh, my name is Akihito Yamada, but my friends call me Aki for short. Think of it as a nickname."

Monika: "When did your whole nickname thing start?"

Aki: "Uh, I think at the beginning of high school."

Monika: "What? How did I not know of this?"

Aki: "Well only my friends use it, whenever it comes to classes I use my actual name."

Monika: "Ohh that makes sense, thanks for explaining Akihito! Or would you prefer Aki?"

Aki: "Well, do you consider me a friend?"

Monika: "Yeah I'd say that, why do you ask?"

Aki: "There's your answer."

Natsuki: "You could've just said yes, dummy. You didn't have to beat around the bush."

Aki: "Well, I-"

Yuri: "I've got the tea everyone!"

Just before I can make a rebuttal Yuri walks in the room with tea prepared. She then passes out some tea cups for everyone and pours some tea in each cup.

Yuri: "I hope everyone is fine with Oolong tea, as that is all I have at the moment."

Everyone just gave a general nod of agreement, which seemed to satisfy Yuri. Once she takes her seat, Natsuki stands up and reaches for the tray covered in foil wrap.

Natsuki: "Are you guys ready?"

She takes off the cover to reveal... cupcakes! They're chocolate cupcakes with white frosting on top. There's also some small icing in the design of a cat.

Sayori: "Woahhh! They're so cute, just like you Natsuki!"

Sayori was probably just trying to be kind, but Natsuki's reaction was not one that I expected. She quickly became angry as if someone just smacked the shit out of her.

Natsuki: "I'M NOT CUTE!"

Jeez, is she always like this?

Once again, Monika saves the moment before it gets too heated.

Monika: "Okay everyone! I have an idea!"

Finally something interesting to talk about.

Monika: "Since we have a new member, I thought we could all have a club activity! That way we can all get to know each other a little more!"

Aki: "Sounds cool, but what's the idea?"

Monika: "Oh! We're gonna write poems and share with each other!"
