(Tuesday, 4:00PM; School; Akihito's PoV)
Another day of school finished, now to go to the clubroom. Hopefully I remember where it was. After reaching the 3rd floor I freeze. I forgot the room number. That's okay, I can just look through the windows to see if one of the other club members are there.
Looking through the windows of all the rooms, one of them catches my eye. In it, is Monika sitting at the teacher's desk typing away at her laptop. Taking note of the room number, I open the door. I walk in and say hello to make my presence noticed.
Monika: "Hey Aki! Glad to see you haven't ditched us after the first day!"
Aki: "I would never. The club seemed pretty cool and I feel like I'm gonna have fun here."
Monika: "That's good to hear! By the way, have you seen Sayori? She hasn't come to the club yet."
Oh no. That's not good. I have no idea where Sayori could be. We don't share any classes so she has no way of telling me if she isn't coming to the club. My mind is racing with a million thoughts when Sayori bursts into the room like she's conducting a raid.
Sayori: "GUYS I CAN'T FIND AKI DO YOU KNOW WHERE HE IS-"
Aki: "Hey."
Sayori: "AKI YOU HAD ME SO WORRIED I WAS GOING TO YOUR CLASS AND I DIDN'T FIND YOU SO I THOUGHT YOU GOT LOST AND-"
Aki: "Sayori, calm down! I can't understand a single word you're saying!"
She takes a moment to catch her breath and continues talking.
Sayori: "Sorry sorry, lemme restart. I went to your class to pick you up and go to the club. But once I got there I didn't find you. That's when I realized you went to the club on your own. I was worried that you would go to the wrong classroom and get lost, but it looks like you made it."
Aki: "Yeah sorry 'bout that. Forgot to tell you I would go to the club on my own. I guess from now on you don't need to pick me up anymore."
Monika: "Well now that that scenario is dealt with, we can all relax for some time before sharing poems."
Dang she's really good at coming in at the best moments.
After that everyone goes to their normal locations. Natsuki goes to the closet and Yuri goes to her seat in the back corner of the room. Sayori sits somewhere in the front and starts doodling. Everyone's doing something productive and then there's me. Standing around not doing a single damn thing. I take a seat and fidget around in my backpack to look like I'm searching for something.
Shortly after I feel a tap on my shoulder.
Aki: "Oh hey Sayo- Oh! Yuri, hi! Surprised to see you here!"
I thought it was Sayori, but in reality it was actually Yuri. She seems to be holding something behind her back.
Yuri: "O-oh um, hello Akihito. I just w-wanted to give you something. T-Think of it as a welcome gift."
Behind her back she pulls out a book. Taking the book gently from her hands, I inspect it. The cover seems very ominous with an eye. The book is apparently called 'Portrait of Markov'.
Yuri: "I j-just thought you'd like this book. I-It's one of my favorite books."
Aki: "Aw, that's really kind of you Yuri, thanks! If you say it's good then I'll have to give it a read!"
Upon hearing my compliment Yuri blushes and hides her face behind her hair.
Yuri: "T-Thank you, Akihito."
Aki: "Oh, call me Aki. We're friends after all, right?"
Yuri: "O-Okay then. T-Thank you Aki."
With that she quickly retreats back to her desk and resumes reading her book. Wait, that book has the same cover as the one she gave me! Maybe she's reading the same book as me? No, she said it was her favorite so that must mean she's already read it. Maybe she's re-reading it again? Ah I shouldn't look too much into this.
Thanks to Yuri, I now have something to do. I open the book and begin to read. After a while, Monika calls out to the club.
Monika: "Okay everyone! It's time to share our poems! Everyone get your poems and share them with a partner!"
Everyone slowly gets out their poem. I guess they're all as nervous as me. Well, everyone besides Sayori and Monika, they're the only ones who seem excited. Since I don't know anyone here, I walk up to Sayori to start.
Sayori: "Hey Aki! Wanna share poems first?"
Aki: "Yeah sure… you're the only one I know here so yeah… let's share."
We trade poems and I begin to read her poem. Reading over it, it just seems like a classic Sayori poem. After she reads my poem she gives some feedback.
Sayori: "Wow, this is really good, Aki! Is this the first time you wrote a poem?"
Aki: "Thanks Sayori, and yes. This is the first time I've written a poem."
Sayori: "Pretty neat for a beginner! Anyways, what do you think of my poem?"
Aki: "Well, I can tell you wrote it, and that last line cracks me up."
Sayori: "Hey I didn't have time this morning to-"
She was about to say something, but she immediately stops.
Aki: "This morning? You mean you forgot to write it yesterday?"
Sayori: "Uhh, maybe?"
Aki: "Sayori…"
Sayori: "I know I know! I'm sorry, I was overloaded with homework yesterday, and I didn't remember until this morning!"
Aki: "Fine, I'll leave you be this time. Other than that it's a really good poem."
Sayori: "Thanks, Aki!"
And with that Sayori walks off to find another partner. Since I'm not ready for Yuri or Natsuki to read my poem, I walk up to Monika.
Monika: "Hey Aki! Before we share poems, I just want to ask you something."
Oh no, what did I do this time?
Monika: "Are you enjoying the club so far?"
Phew, I thought it was gonna be something serious. Better answer instead of just standing there.
Aki: "Y-yeah, it's a nice place so far. The environment is pretty relaxing and it feels like a place I can cool down after school."
Monika: "Hehe, that's what I was going for! School can be really stressful, so I just wanted to create a place for people to wind down and relieve some stress."
Aki: "Well I'll let you know, it's working quite well."
Monika: "Thanks, Aki. Shall we share poems now?"
Aki: "Sure."
We trade poems and I look over her poem. The poem seems pretty straight-forward, although I'm wondering if there's a hidden meaning to it. I'll ask her about it. After she reads my poem she hands it back.
Monika: "That was a nice poem, Aki! Is this your first time?"
Aki: "Yeah it was. I was kinda scared it wouldn't be that good."
Monika: "No need to fear! None of us are talented at writing, but we still do it just for fun!"
Aki: "I guess you could look at it that way."
Monika: "Yep, so what do you think of my poem?"
Aki: "About that, can I ask a question?"
Monika: "Sure!"
Aki: "Is there some hidden meaning to this poem?"
Monika: "Well I'll tell you what I was going for and you can be the judge on how it is. Basically, we are all constantly being watched over by god. We don't see them, but they see every single one of our actions."
Aki: "Wow, that's pretty deep. Thanks for the explanation Monika!"
Monika: "No problem Aki!"
After that we separated. Now was the tough choice. Who should I share with next?
Author's Notes: Sooo... this is gonna be awkward...
It's about Monika's poems. In the original game Monika's poems referenced her self-awareness. And as you know, she's not self aware in this FanFic. So basically I made up some shit to cover up the self awareness. That's all I wanted to say, onto Chapter 5!
