(Sunday, 8PM; House; Akihito's PoV)
We both head to my house to prepare dinner. I suggest we cut up some vegetables and make a frozen pizza. Sayori doesn't need to know I had one literally yesterday. Sayori agrees, and I get the stuff needed.
I grab each of us a knife and cutting board, and I also get some vegetables. Onions, tomatoes, olives, the usual stuff. But not pineapple, pineapple on pizza is the biggest sin possible.
After we cut the toppings, I pull out a pizza from the freezer. We both put the toppings on the pizza, and slide the pizza in the oven.
Sayori: "So, pizza's in the oven. What now?"
Aki: "Well, I was thinking-"
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
I'm interrupted by someone knocking on the door. Who could be here at this time?
Aki: "I'll get the door, you watch over the pizza."
Sayori: "Okay. Be careful, it's kinda late."
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Aki: "Coming!"
I walk up to the door, and open prepare myself for whoever may be there. I open the door to see...
Aki: "Monika? What are you doing here this late?"
Monika: "Hey Aki, I want to talk to you about something. I-"
Sayori: "Aki? Who is it?"
Monika: "Oh, Sayori! I didn't expect you here!"
Sayori: "Oh, hey, Monika! I should say the same!"
Aki: "Uh, would you like to come in? It seems a little cold outside."
Monika: "Thank you, Aki."
She walks in, and I direct her to the living room. Me and Sayori take a seat on a couch, and Monika sits opposite to us on another couch.
Aki: "Quick question, if you don't mind."
Monika: "Sure!"
Aki: "How exactly did you know where I live?"
Monika: "Well, Sayori told me that you two were neighbors, and I already knew where Sayori lived. Once I came here, I had to choose which was your house. I went to the house on the other side and... let's just say the lady there wasn't too happy to have visitors."
Aki: "Heh, you're not wrong about that. The grandma there is super rude to visitors, so I try to stay away from her as much as possible."
Sayori: "You got that right. One time, one of her letters came into my mailbox, so I went to give it to her. She made a big fuss about why I had her mail in the first place and said that I stole from her mailbox."
Monika: "What happened after that?"
Sayori: "She called the cops and accused me of theft. Obviously she exaggerated the story and twisted it so that she came out as the victim. I told the officer what really happened, and thankfully he took my side."
Aki: "Wait, is that why there was a cop car here like 2 weeks ago?"
Sayori: "Yep."
Aki: "What?! Oh my god that's hilarious!"
Sayori: "Needless to say, I don't want to start a weekend like that ever again."
We all have a little bit of laughter. Once it dies down, I'm reminded of why Monika came here.
Aki: "Oh yeah, you said you wanted to ask me something Monika?"
Monika visibly freezes and tenses up. She clearly didn't expect that question from me.
Monika: "Well I uh... I just wanted to know how the flyers are coming along! Yeah, that's it."
Something tells me that's not what she originally wanted to say. I let it slide for now, in case if she wanted to ask me one-on-one.
Sayori: "Oh, we finished the flyers and posters yesterday!"
Monika: "Wow, that's great to hear! Can I see them?"
Aki: "Sure, let me get them."
I get up and head to my bedroom, that's where the flyers and posters are. I grab them and head back downstairs. On my way down I hear Monika and Sayori talking, but I can't make out what they're saying. It's probably not that important.
Aki: "Here's the flyers and posters. In case if it's not obvious, the small ones are the flyers."
Monika: "Ahaha, I would have never known, thanks Aki."
Good to know she can understand sarcasm and take it as a joke.
Monika: "These look really good guys! How'd you make it?"
Sayori: "Well, originally I was going to just draw it out. But then Aki told me he's really good at Photoshop. So I told him how I wanted the flyers to work, and he'd design it on his computer!"
Aki: "She'd also tell me to make small changes here and there. Same story for the posters. We went to a store nearby to get paper, and we printed all these out."
Monika: "Well, I am very grateful that you both put a lot of effort into this."
Sayori: "Of course! We're both super excited about the festival!"
Aki: "Well uh-"
Sayori: "I said, we're both super excited for the festival. Right, Aki?"
How the hell can she be this menacing?!
Aki: "Y-yep! Super duper excited!"
Monika: "How excited would you say you are?"
Aki: "You're not helping, Monika!"
We all burst into laughter once again.
DING
Sayori: "Oh! The pizza's ready! I'll get it!"
Aki: "Don't burn yourself!"
Sayori: "I won't!"
Sayori leaves the kitchen, and I see Monika looking out the window.
Aki: "Hey, Monika?"
Monika: "Hm?"
Aki: "Would you like to join us for dinner? We have enough for another person."
Monika: "No it's okay, I wouldn't want to intrude."
Aki: "No no please, join us. We'd be glad to have you join."
Monika: "Aki it's okay, plus I have a different diet than you guys."
Aki: "You're a vegetarian?"
Monika: "Basically, but I also eat fish."
Aki: "That's no problem! We only put vegetables on the pizza."
Monika: "But-"
Sayori: "Please join us Monika! Dinner is always fun with friends!"
Monika contemplates for a moment, thinking about staying over.
Monika: "Okay, I'll stay."
Sayori: "Yay! Thanks Monika!"
Aki: "Yeah, thank you."
I direct Monika to the dinner table. We both take a seat and Sayori brings in the pizza. Looks like she cut it as well, and cut it well. Nine equal slices-
WHAT?!
Aki: "What the fuck?!"
Monika and Sayori are shocked at my sudden outburst.
Sayori: "Is something wrong?"
Aki: "Monika, do me a favor and count the number of slices in the pizza."
Monika: "Uhh... okay... one, two, three... nine?"
Sayori: "What's the problem?"
Aki: "There's nine slices!"
Sayori: "And?"
Aki: "It's supposed to be eight!"
Monika: "Yeah, how come it's not eight?"
Sayori: "Well, there's three of us here, and eight doesn't split evenly into three. But nine does, so we each get three slices!"
Monika: "That's... reasonable."
Aki: "...fine. I'll let it slide."
We all eat the pizza, and talk about the festival. And by we all, I mean Monika and Sayori. I barely talked throughout the whole dinner, mainly because I didn't know what to say. Once we finish eating, I take the plates and put them in the sink.
Monika: "Thank you both for having me here, I had a wonderful night."
Sayori: "No problem, Monika!"
Aki: "Yeah, you're welcome here anytime. Just make sure not to knock on the old lady's door."
We all chuckle, and I walk both Monika and Sayori to the door. Sayori steps out first, and Monika follows behind.
Sayori: "You need any help with cleaning up?"
Aki: "Nah it's only 3 plates, I can take care of it."
Sayori: "Okay then, see you guys tomorrow!"
Monika: "Bye!"
Aki: "Bye guys. Oh, Sayori?"
Sayori: "Yeah?"
Aki: "Do you mind helping me out tomorrow? You know, with the flyers?"
Sayori: "Sure!"
Monika and Sayori leave, and go opposite directions. I close my door and head inside. I wonder what Monika wanted to talk about? I know for a fact that she was going to say something different, before Sayori came. Maybe she'll tell me tomorrow.
I wash the dishes and head to bed. Tomorrow is the festival, and I hope it goes well. The only thing I hope to do is not mess up reciting my poem. But there's something else that I have planned.
