BEEP BEEP BEEP
Ugh... whoever decided kids should wake up at 6AM should rot in hell. Why would you make kids get up early to go somewhere they don't even-
Wait, I said this literally last week. Let's not have a repeat of that rant. Luckily, I will actually have food to eat unlike last week. I get out of my bed and do my daily morning routine.
What should I have for breakfast? Let's keep it simple and have a PB&J sandwich. I'll also make an extra one for Sayori.
Speaking of Sayori, I need to go to her house. She said she would help me carry the flyers and posters to school. Lemme just call Sayori to make sure she's awake. The call goes through and...
Sayori: "H-hello...?"
Looks like I just woke her up.
Aki: "Sayori, hey! Just calling to ask if you'd help take some stuff to the school."
Sayori: "S-sure... I'll get out of bed now... goddammit..."
She says that last part softly, but I still heard it. Unlike humans, phones are actually really good at picking up whispers.
Aki: "What's this? The cleaner than soap Sayori swearing? This is a sight to see! Or hear in this case."
Sayori: "Yeah yeah whatever, shut up. I'll be at your house in fifteen minutes."
Aki: "Alright! See ya then!"
I eat my sandwich and get the stuff from my room. Now to just wait for Sayori. I could probably carry all these to school, but I still want to spend time with Sayori.
DING DONG
Oh that must be her! I walk up to the door and open it.
Aki: "Hey Sayori!"
Sayori: "Hey Aki! You ready to go?"
Aki: "Yep! Here, take this."
I hand her the flyers so I can carry the posters.
Sayori: "Alright, let's go!"
We head out and start our walk towards school.
Sayori: "Sooo, what're you planning to do today?"
Aki: "Confessing."
WHAT THE HELL AKI?! WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! NO ONE'S SUPPOSED TO KNOW!
Sayori: "What?"
Aki: "Uhh, nothing! I didn't say anything!"
Sayori: "Okay..."
I need to divert this conversation, now.
Aki: "What do you plan on doing?"
Sayori: "I'm going to go to all the food stalls!"
Aki: "Why did I expect anything different…"
Sayori: "Hey! I'll also check out the games too!"
Aki: "Alright alright, you made your point."
We shortly reach the school, and we head straight for the clubroom. When we arrive, I see that we're the last ones.
Sayori: "Hey guys! We're here!"
Monika: "Hey, you're here! I was starting to think you were gonna leave us hanging!"
Sayori: "I'd never do that! I really wanna experience the festival!"
Aki: "I think she's excited for the festival guys."
Natsuki: "No shit Sherlock!"
Yuri: "Natsuki! That's very rude of you!"
Aki: "Y'know, there's this thing called sarcasm, dunno if you've ever heard of it."
Natsuki: "Of course I've heard of sarcasm dummy!"
At this point, everyone is trying to hold back their laughter.
Aki: "...Y'know you're like an airport."
Natsuki: "How?!"
Aki: "Because a lot of my jokes are flying over your head."
Natsuki: "WHY YOU LITTLE-"
Monika: "Okay everyone! Let's set up for the festival!"
Monika chimes in just in time before Natsuki blows up. That's too bad, I kinda wanted to have a joke argument with her. Oh well, the festival is the main focus for now.
Natsuki: "I'll get you back dummy..."
I guess I should do my thing now, the thing I accidentally told Sayori. Confessing to... Monika. I wrote a confession letter last night, hopefully, she likes it. I walk up to Monika and-
Monika: "Aki, hey! You mind helping me with putting up the posters?"
Dammit, I gotta confess later. I'll be a good guy and help her.
Aki: "Yeah, I'll help."
We walk around the school to put up posters. Monika would hold up the posters while I tape them to the wall. We put up about ten of them around the school.
Monika: "Alright that should be enough. Let's head back."
Let's try confessing now.
Aki: "Hey Monika, can I ask you something?"
Monika: "Uhh, can it wait until after we recite our poems? Sorry, it's just that I'm trying to focus on all of this."
Aki: "Sure..."
Alright, at least I know I don't have to keep trying. We head back to the classroom in silence, since there's nothing else to talk about.
I don't even know if she'll say yes. What if she's already dating someone? It'll just be embarrassing for me. We walk the rest of the distance in silence, and we eventually reach the classroom.
Monika: "Okay everyone! We finished putting up the posters! It's just about time for our recital, so for now you guys can prepare."
Everyone gets their poems from their backpacks. I have nothing to do, so I go talk to Sayori. Monika's probably busy, so I don't want to disturb her.
Aki: "Hey Sayori!"
Sayori: "Hey Aki! You ready for the recital?"
Aki: "I guess so, I mean I don't really have a choice, do I?"
Sayori: "C'mon Aki, don't think like that! It's going to be fine, just believe in yourself. You'll get through it with ease."
Aki: "Wow, I never expected such wisdom from you Sayori."
Sayori: "Ehe, don't expect it too often."
Slowly people start to come in and take their seats. Sure enough, we end up with a full house. It's no surprise, Monika's in this club and people are probably here just for her. The classroom itself is small, it can maybe fit around thirty to forty people. All of the club members gather up at the front. Monika walks up to the podium and starts the recital with a welcoming speech.
Monika: "Hello everyone, welcome to the Literature Club! Thank you for taking the time to come here. Today we will be reciting poems, and if you guys want to recite some poems, you can! Without further ado, let's get started! Up first we have our vice president, Sayori!"
Sayori walks up to the podium. Wow, she doesn't look like she's nervous at all. She introduces herself and recites her poem with confidence. Once she's done, everyone gives a round of applause, and Sayori walks off.
Monika: "Up next, we have Yuri!"
Yuri timidly walks to the podium. She nervously introduces herself, with some stutters, and begins to recite her poem. At first she sounds nervous, but as reads more she sounds more confident. Once she's finished everyone applauds again, and Yuri walks off.
Monika: "Next we have Natsuki!"
Natsuki walks to the podium in a similar style to Yuri. She doesn't introduce herself and just recites the poem. She tries to speed through it, I guess she's just really nervous. Once she's done, there's a small applause and Natsuki basically runs off the podium and back to us.
Monika: "And now for our newest member, Aki!"
I walk up to the podium, and look around the room. Wow, there is a lot of people here. I introduce myself and recite my poem. After I'm done, there's a big round of applause. I bow to say thank you, and walk off the podium.
Monika: "Last but not least, yours truly. The club president!"
Even before Monika can introduce herself people are cheering. Goes to show she's really popular. Man, I'm really about to confess to the popular girl. The pressure just keeps on building.
Monika: "I guess you guys already know me, ahaha. Here's my poem."
She recites her poem with the most confidence I've ever heard. Once she finishes, everyone is cheering, probably the loudest out of the whole day. Once everyone calms down, Monika finishes everything with a closing statement.
Monika: "Thank you everyone for coming! If you're interested in the club, make sure to sign up!"
Everyone gets up to leave the room. When everyone leaves, all the club members meet up at the center of the room.
Monika: "We did it guys! I'm so proud of everyone here!"
We all have a small celebration, we deserve it after all. This was the first time any of us did something like this. We all begin to clean up the room and throw away the trash. After that, Natsuki and Yuri go together to tour the festival. Sayori also leaves right after them.
Only Monika and I are left in the clubroom. Monika is packing up her bag, and notices me still in the clubroom.
Monika: "You're not gonna see the festival, Aki?"
It's my time to shine.
