Imagine Me Without You

Summary: Her voice could do many things, so long as she accompanied her "will" with a lyrical melody. Kagome was an orphan who was lucky enough to be found by Aizawa back when he was actively pursuing criminals at night as Eraserhead. She owes everything that she is to the man who gave her a home and a family.

Chapter Six

-x-x-x-

~Here's to you,
every missing tooth and every bedtime story.
Here's to barbie cars, light saber wars, sleeping in on Sundays.
Had to crawl before you walked, before you ran,
before I knew it, you were teaching me the only thing love can.
Hold hands through it, when it's scary,
you've got me...~

Shota listened to the softly sung song. He had to step out earlier when sirens and screams had torn through his window and disrupted their dinner. "Kagome,"

The seven-year-old was now looking much healthier after seven months of eating healthy and sleeping comfortably. She turned away from the window where she'd been looking down at the street below. "Oh!" Her eyes widened, "what happened?!"

He sighed, "as I said before, the Symbol of Exhaustion."

"...wait, that's All Might?" She watched her dad carry the unconscious man over to their couch.

"Can you grab a wet cloth?"

She nodded, walking into the kitchen and pulling a clean cloth from the drawer before soaking it beneath the faucet and some cool water. "What happened?"

"Nothing; he just doesn't know when to stop. Pushes himself too far." Shota took the cloth and pressed it to the blonde's forehead. "Make sure the blinds are closed,"

Kagome went around the apartment and closed all the windows and blinds, locking the front door before returning to her dad's side. Sitting down beside him, she stared curiously at the blonde. "He looks a bit...deflated."

"Heh, yeah, he gets like this when he's tired. His All Might form takes a lot out of him."

"Oh."

"Mmn,"

"Is he waking?"

"He won't be waking up for a while. Let him rest."

She nodded, watching the worn-out hero sleep for a while before she found something to distract herself in the way of Shota's hair. Smiling to herself, Kagome pulled some of his hair into a pigtail. She brushed it while he read the book on his lap. "So, what happened earlier in the streets?"

"It was a group of Villains. Three fledglings with too much time on their hands and no control over their quirks. They caused more trouble than they should have been able to just by their vigor alone."

"You mean...you're old, and they're young?"

"Sigh..." he nodded, "old, is that what twenty-two has become?"

"No, no! It just sounded like the excuse you were using,"

"Excuse? Ouch...it just gets better and better." He glanced over at their couch, "I just showed up in time to help this guy out."

"Well, hopefully, he'll rest well here. Does All Might not need a doctor?"

"...hm. No, but I bet he could use another friend." He looked up at Kagome. In the months that had passed, he'd fallen into a comfortable rhythm with the little girl. He was accustomed to her playing with his hair and didn't mind the braids and pigtails as long as he remembered to take them out before leaving the house. He was used to setting the table for two, and when he was out shopping, he tended to think about things that she'd like just as much as he thought of things he needed.

"Mrow~"

"Ah, Soba..." he lay his hand on the cat's black fur beside him, "do you want to be his friend too?"

"Mrow~"

Kagome laughed, "that's cat for "yes"."

"You speak feline fluently now?"

"Oh, do you think that's a Quirk?"

Shota thought about it, "it would be quite the interesting Quirk. Communicating with animals? I'm sure someone can. Oh, term starts next week. Are you ready?"

Kagome pointed to her room; a uniform hung on the doorknob neatly. "I'm ready,"

"Mng, ah. Where am I?"

Kagome skirted to her feet and moved over to All Might's side, "you're here!"

"..." watching his daughter, Shota didn't move to get up or check on his longtime friend.

"Who are you?"

"Aizawa, Kagome!"

"...Aizawa? Eraserhead's kid?" A loud groan echoed in the room, and the blonde sat up. "Oh, so you are here,"

Shota lifted his hand in a half-wave, "nice of you to join us. How are you feeling?"

"Tired,"

"The Symbol of Exhaustion!" Kagome grinned, "that's what Shota calls you,"

"Of course, he does," All Might sighed, "Listen, kid, don't go telling any of your friends about...you know..."

Kagome frowned, "I don't have anyone to tell. It's me and Shota...oh, and you!"

The look he gave Shota didn't go ignored as Shota stood up and walked into the kitchen. He returned with a water bottle in hand and tossed it towards All Might, who caught it while waiting for the man to talk.

"Kagome, go take a bath and get ready for bed. All Might will still be here," he interrupted her before she could complain.

Pouting, she bowed and excused herself from the living room before making her way to the bathroom connected to her bedroom.

"When did you have a kid? She's cute...but she's not…well, is she?"

"I adopted her around seven months ago, so no, she's not mine from birth. Her name is Kagome; feel free to come by and visit with her from time to time."

All Might frowned, "do I look like a little girl?"

"...you're about the same size,"

"Shut up," All Might took a drink from the water bottle. "I let myself stay in my All Might form for too long; my body hates me."

"Well, you could take a break from the Hero scene and teach. Haven't they been trying to pull you into U.A?"

"Not interested,"

"Of course not,"

"What about you? I heard the same thing: they wanted Eraserhead to teach at U.A."

"...and Midnight, Present Mic, Cementoss and Ectoplasm...I don't care to be a teacher. I'm not sure I'd make for a very good one anyway. Isn't Gran Torino still teaching there?"

All Might looked down at the water, "I think he's retiring soon."

"Might be why they are looking for new Heroes to fill the roles."

"...so...you're daughter. What kind of Quirk does the little tyke have?"

Shota smiled, taking a seat next to the worn-out blonde and talking about the girl he'd taken in off the streets. The two continued talking about her upcoming schooling and her Quirk, what kind of school he'd have her in during her later years, and if she'd be trying her luck at U.A or a normal High School. He had no answer for the future, but he looked forward to seeing what would come of her choices. When Kagome came out dressed in flannel pj's, she curled up on the couch beside him and rested against his side. The conversation didn't stop, and he ran his fingers gently through her hair as she fell into a lulling sleep listening to the two adults converse.

"Oh..."

Shota looked up, "what is it?"

"Pigtails, you should wear them more often." A chuckle sounded throughout the room, followed by a heavily heaved sigh.

Me: Here is chapter Six. Each chapter moving forward will have a time skip of some kind. Not always by a year, sometimes by a few months, but I will make them noticeable as she's growing up with Aizawa-Sensei. Send Love Through~ Review!
