The Space Princess and the Green Lantern
Chapter 3: The Manhunters attack
The next morning, Dimitri, Mandie, Bellatrix, and Charon are in a open area of the woods near the submarine base. Earlier, the four woke up before having breakfast. After the meal, Dimitri had agreed to put himself to the test against Princess Mandie.
The Princess and the young Russian state at each other while Bellatrix and Charon watch on.
"Alright, Dimitri. If you want to help me return home, you will have to prove to me as a warrior." Mandie said.
"As the grandson of a Red Army soldier, I will fight for Mother Russia." Dimitri said.
"I see." Mandie said before drawing out her iconic weapon, her flaming sword, "Ready?"
Dimitri uses his ring to transform into his Green Lantern uniform. Once changed, he opens up a small portal and pulls out his lantern battery. He inserts his ring in and says the oath.
"In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light." He said before his ring is fully charged.
The three alien girls were amazed about the glowing light from Dimitri's lantern.
"What was that?" Charon asks.
"It's my battery. I'll keep my ring fully charged before going into battle." Dimitri replied as he puts the lantern away.
"I see. Anyway, are you ready?" Mandie asked.
"Ready when you are, my lady." The Russian replied.
"What a gentleman." The princess spoke.
Dimitri creates a Circassian Sword and a shield. With that, the two warriors charged at each other, clashing their weapons. Mandie does some horizontal slashes, but Dimitri parries with his sword construct. He swings his sword vertical, but the alien princess dodges them. She then shoots plasma from her sword. Somehow, the Russian used his shield to stop the beam, before Mandie stops.
"Not bad, Dimitri. Let's see if you can fight while off the ground." She said before she uses her rocket boots to take off in the air.
Dimitri smirks before hovering above. The two fly and they clash once more. Bellatrix and Charon watch the fight in amazement.
"Wow. Dimitri sure knows how to give Mandie a run for her money." Charon commented.
"Damn straight. This guy can also be our playmate." Bellatrix said.
All of a sudden, a laser appears from the sky and nearly hits Dimitri. It then strikes near Charon and Bellatrix.
"What was that?!" Charon asks.
"Eyes up top!" Bellatrix shouted.
Dimitri and Mandie look up to see a swarm of machines flying in. The machines see them before opening fire on them. Dimitri quickly creates a shield in front of him and Mandie.
From below,
"What are those?!" Bellatrix asked.
"Whatever they are, they're attacking Mandie and Dimitri! We got to help them!" Charon replied.
The two alien girls activate their rocket boots before taking off to help. In the skies, Dimitri struggles as two more machines fire on the green shield. It begins to crack as the Russian struggles to hold off. Mandie sees the enemies before charging in and cuts them down with her flame sword. Then a machine in a fighter flies in and attacks the alien princess.
"There is no hope." It said to her before shooting rockets at her.
Mandie dodges the rockets before cutting the ship and the robot in half. Dimitri meanwhile is holding off before his shield is broken. He is then surrounded by several of the machines that had their cannons aimed at him.
"No man escapes the Manhunters." One said.
That is when several lasers flew past Dimitri and destroy the now named Manhunters. Dimitri turns to see Charon and Bellatrix arrive.
"What were those things?" Bellatrix asks.
"Manhunters." Dimitri replied.
Mandie sees the three before approaching, "Manhunters?"
"Alert! Manhunter warship firing!" Dimitri's ring alert the four.
Dimitri, Mandie, Bellatrix, and Charon look up to see a bright light.
"Shit! Move!" Dimitri shouted.
The four warriors dodge as the giant light strikes the ground, causing a massive explosion, scaring most of the animals away. Dimitri looks and sees the destruction in the aftermath.
"That thing's gonna cause a mass panic to the public if we don't stop it," Dimitri said.
"Then let's get up there and blast that junk heap!" Charon said.
The human and the three female aliens flew up to take down the Manhunter warship. Once they reach space, they see the vessel.
"Let's get in there and destroy the reactor. It would cause a chain reaction which will destroy the ship." Dimitri said.
The group begins flying toward the warship before they encounter several platoons of Manhunters.
"More Manhunters!" Bellatrix shouted.
"Mandie! Bellatrix, and I will deal with these tin cans. You and Dimitri go and destroy the ship!" Charon said.
"Right!" Mandie said.
"Let's go, Mandie!" Dimitri said.
He leads the alien princess to destroy the Manhunter Warship. They run into a handful of Manhunters.
"I got this, sweetie!" Mandie said, before shooting her sword, destroying them in seconds. Dimitri was amazed by Mandie's weaponry.
"By Mother Russia." Dimitri muttered.
The two approach the ship. Once arrived, Dimitri creates a hole, big enough for him and Mandie to enter.
"Alert, Manhunter warship charging up. Target: St. Petersberg, Russia." The ring informed.
"We got to destroy the reactor. Is in the back of the ship." Dimitri said.
"Then let's go!" Mandie said, activating her rocket boots.
The two make their way through the interior of the warship towards the stern to destroy the reactor. They encounter Manhunter resistance who defend the ship. They reach a large hallway that is full of Manhunters. Dimitri flies in front of Mandie, creating three MIG-29s. The fighters fly in and shoot through the waves of the machines. Mandie is amazed at what Dimitri had created.
"I knew I would pick him to be my husband." Mandie said.
After the Manhunters were destroyed, the constructs vanish and Dimitri and Mandie reach the reactor guarded by a large Manhunter called the Ultra.
"Your power is nothing compared to the Manhunters. Surrender and die." The Ultra said before firing a large beam at Dimitri and Mandie who dodge it at the last second.
"Mandie, go and destroy the reactor." Dimitri said to her before looking at the Manhunter Ultra, "He's mine."
"Be careful, sweetie." Mandie said before heading off to destroy the reactor.
"Warning! Manhunter warship cannon charge at fifteen percent." The ring alerted.
Dimitri flies in but the Ultra fires rockets from its hands at him. The Russian dodges before shooting his ring at the head of the Ultra. The large machine manages to seat Dimitri back a few feet.
Mandie on the other hand sees the reactor which is split into 3 sections. Plus a few auto turrets on each of the cores are placed to guard them.
"Hmph. This is child's play." She said before readying her flame sword.
She flies in to attack the first core. The auto-turrets see her before opening fire. She dodges through the barrage before blasting the first core like it is nothing. Soon red lights flash and an alarm blares out.
"Warning! Reactor core overloading. Five percent." The male announcer said.
Mandie goes for the second core and does the same thing.
"Warning! Reactor core overloading at 45 percent!"
"Just one more to go." Mandie said.
Meanwhile Dimitri was sucked by a blue vortex before it explodes knocking him away. He recovers before attacking the Ultra Manhunter. Dimitri creates robotic hands and flies in before punching the large robot like a boxer. The Ultra Manhunter is on its last legs. Dimitri finishes it off by creating a large ax before slamming down into the shoulder of the machine and ending it by decapitating its head off. The body collapses off the platform before landing on the ground.
Then an explosion occurs and Dimitri turns to see Mandie who destroyed the last core.
"Danger! Reactor core overloading!" The computer said.
Soon various explosions rock the warship.
"It's gonna blow!" Mandie shouted.
"Let's get out of here!" Dimitri said and the two make their way out of the ship.
Back outside, Charon and Bellatrix were destroying the Manhunters left and right when a series of explosions caught their attention. They turn to see the warship falling apart and exploding.
"Mandie! Dimitri!" Bellatrix shouted.
"Get out of there!" Charon shouted.
They waited until a green trail is seen exiting the exploding ship. It is Dimitri and Mandie. They made it out just in time for the Manhunter warship to explode into a huge fireball. The four look as the warship begins burning up in the atmosphere. It is a bittersweet moment.
"You guys alright?" Bellatrix asks Dimitri and Mandie.
"We're fine, Bella, but it is amazing. We wipe out those Manhunters like they were nothing." Mandie said before turning to Dimitri, "And those powers you created. It is amazing. I would love to see more of that."
"Thanks, Mandie." Dimitri replied.
"Dimitri, could you tell us about those Manhunters?" Charon asks.
"Of course, but first, we need to get your ship fully repaired."
The four head back to Earth to retrieve Mandie's wrecked ship for repairs.
