Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Twin Terrors. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Metroid; Nintendo and a few others do.

Mother Brain had named the creature Spectre, after all? He was created simply made to destroy Samus from the shadows, what better then to name the creature after silence?

One of the pirates slammed against the wall, Mother Brain allowed him to spar with the less obedient pirates within her ranks. They were after all made simply to serve her, what good were soldiers that could not carry out her vision, after all?

Another of the pirates leapt at him only to be greeted with the arm mounted blades that his armor was equipped with. It screeched and slid off the blades to the ground. He turned and quickly moved the duo gun barrels on his right forearm to the remaining pirate who simply slunk away.

Mother Brain watched in displeasure as he allowed the soldier to live. He watched the beast with an interest that could only be considered quite childlike when it came down to her. Still? He was quite curious, the mere lapse in judgement could be slightly forgiven when it came down to it. It wasn't as if he knew better then to judge enemy from friend.

The soldier looked different than any space pirate, wearing blueish green armor with shades of black. His helmet consisted a pair of lenses where his eyes sat and a glass glow like grin on a skull like helmet. Clawed fingers, designed for climbing sat at the ends of his hands, the armor held missiles within his shoulders. And a flight pack for mobility.

Spectre stood within the cavern, interested as to what was happening. He didn't understand the massive army of creatures behind him. Then again? He didn't exactly care, none of them tried to kill him, which was as much a show of restraint on their end as it was on his.

"Why does she call the hunter here?" One of the pirates questioned, his tone suggesting the same resigned voice most did.

Bringing the hunter here was stupid, most of them were smart enough to understand death would arrive soon… You DIDN'T bring the butcher of all your kind with you without some insurance, nor did you pretend to assume you could outmatch them.

The only reason none of them brought up this glaring flaw in plans with Mother Brain or Ridley? They didn't much CARE about the wellbeing of their subordinates.

"She thinks the soldier will kill her." Another pirate stated, knowing better than this. "I do not understand their lines of thinking." Another pirate pointed out to which they were mostly silent.

"And yet she believes the hunter will be killed by the soldier." Another pirate stated while crossing his arms. "This warrior is not beyond her. She should know this." Another pirate added as he looked at Spectre.

None of them dared deny that their master did have a plan, but none of them wanted to point out the plan was insane. The first time they had clashed with the accursed hunter? It had been one of few times they had tasted true defeat. However? TO them? As long as their master approved of said plan?

"And do you think it will indeed be different when it comes down to it?" Another pirate questioned, drawing the attention of the other.

"Why would it not be like this?" The pirate questioned, earning a hum as they turned to look at one another.

They turned to see Spectre simply waiting, curious as to what would come next. if someone knew what the hunter was? They would most certainly slowly but surely sustain a loss of courage the more he sustained upon this very idea.

"How long until the general returns?" They asked, slowly filling the chamber with their bodies.

They would get their answer soon enough. Ridley's return signaled the countdown until their demise. For when his return announced the arrival of a fate none of them wanted to encounter.

"Hour." Another pirate chimed in as the stared around the chamber with interest. "He will hunt her, they said." Another pirate stated as both turned to look at Spectre who turned to look at them.

The super soldier was silent, quite curious as to what they had believed in. Did their entire battle plan hinge upon him engaging Samus in combat? He could not assume, but he was almost sure that this would not end well.

From what little the super soldier knew about Samus? She was a skilled bounty hunter who could easily lay waste to armies, it did NOT seem tactically feasible to lure her back to this base where she would inevitably destroy thousands of pirates.

But then again? He doubted anyone would listen, one of the pirate commanders had already departed to try and secure an asset for a project they were interested in.

"What is the strategy for when the hunter arrives?" Spectre questioned, pausing only to raise a eyebrow at the duo. "Well? Is there a plan for when she arrives?" Spectre asked, gaining no answer as he sighed under his helmet.

The super soldier vanished further into the tunnels, making him question what the pirates wished to do with the small Metroid. There had to be some stratagem to be derived from this plan, he probably just wasn't seeing it the way they expected him to… Still? It wasn't like he'd be waiting here and doing nothing while others waited for their deaths.

He looked up the long tunnel, curious as to what this bounty hunter would be like. They expected her to come, to kill and hunt them all. Spectre guessed they and this hunter had some history he probably didn't know or fathom yet. Still? He could not wait to confront said hunter.

"If she is as dangerous as they say?" Spectre muttered to himself aloud. "Then this seems to be a rather interesting battle sure to come. I still question why they wish to draw the hunter here if she is so dangerous." Spectre stated as he crossed his arms.

The sound of wings drew his attention back above to which Spectre shook his head. Ridley was still given command over the super soldier, yet it was clear neither had a very strong bond or form of camaraderie yet.

Not surprising when said commander didn't seem to understand why Spectre found his choice foolish, stupid even. Spectre withdrew inside the caverns to await the hunter's arrival.

If she would come? He would stop her before she reached the pirate leader, no matter what? She would fall by his hand, and his hand alone.

He paused to think for a moment before finally withdrawing into the darkness around him for good.

Author Notes

Phew. I want to apologize for the short chapter. I plan to make another that is longer. Next chapter will end up being in 2-10 months and will show Spectre observing and watching Samus as well as start to set up the showdown between them, until then? Lighting Wolf out!

P.S: Next chapter will be 900-1500 words at the moment, sorry for now.
