Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Twin Terrors. Enjoy the 1500-word chapter. I don't own Metroid; Nintendo and a few others do.

Spectre collected more information on Samus the more he observed the bounty hunter. The pirate soldiers? The majority hung back, something Spectre began to understand the longer he understood her. They were no match for the bounty hunter who ripped through beast and pirate with equal ruthlessness.

He watched every footstep she took through the dark narrow caves of Zebes. He saw every single path Samus took deeper into the planet, it was almost enough to make him feel like another hunter stalking more dangerous prey.

"Where is the soldier?" Spectre heard from over his comm as his visor flashed with dozens of alerts. "With Kraid? Why does he not protect the commander?" A pirate questioned to which Spectre was silent for a minute.

He knew for a fact that there would be no way he could help Kraid. The commander's bulk meant he would simply get in the way of his attacks, plus he knew if Kraid couldn't handle Samus? Then there was no way he'd be able to offer anymore assistance currently. Spectre could only ponder what happened in this battle at the moment. He knew something was going to occur sooner or later. This battle continued to rage. The more Spectre observed Kraid continue to be pushed onto the back foot.

Samus ducked under a claw before firing her cannon at the massive lizard like pirate. He watched blasts fly at Kraid, smashing into his skin over and over, burning him dozens of times. Samus fired more blasts, her cannon singing across the rest of the room. Kraid took far more hits then Samus did, Spectre could only continue to watch as Kraid burned under the assault.

"Hmm…" Spectre stated while he crossed his arms, continuing to observe as he contemplated at least attempting an attack. "No, I shouldn't, Kraid won't be the only commander Samus attacks." Spectre said as started to think of the possibilities at the moment.

"SCREE!" Kraid roared out in agony as Samus continued to nimbly dodge his claws and stabs. "SCREEM!" Kraid bellowed as more plasma blasts slammed into his thick skin.

Kraid started to hiss and roar as he started to slump forward, pain racking his body while he weakly tried to attack Samus. Samus was hit slightly by a stray shot from the monster, knocking her from her perch. Samus rushed forward as Kraid raised his arm, a final swing at the bounty hunter, a desperate attack to finish her. Kraid put the majority of his bulk into the attack, hoping to smash Samus under the weight of his strike. It missed, Samus fired a shot into Kraid's throat once more, burning him and finishing off the monster who collapsed, his skin detonating in a conflagration as the gases that made up his body inside burst. Kraid vanished in a massive fire ball to which Spectre's visor automatically darkened as the cavern was lit up like an exploding star, Spectre wouldn't have been surprised if the intensity was similar to some degree, actually.

"Total data of conflict collected." Spectre's onboard computer stated as it started to analyze the data. "Data incomplete, please continue to the next set of analyzing." Spectre's computer added to which Spectre pressed a switch on his armor, curious as he knew this conflict was happening.

"Then it's time to turn to the next battle." Spectre stated while he cracked his fingers. "I should report Kraid's failure." Spectre added as he dusted his hands off a moment later.

Spectre's radar picked up movement. Spectre turned to see Samus gazing at him, her canon at the ready as she held a shot, the barrel spinning as it did so. Spectre contemplated engaging Samus at the time, she had little in the way of gear, and he was well armed.

"Hmm…" Spectre stated, his visor locked onto the bounty hunter. "No, she's too unknown at the time for a proper engagement." Spectre added to himself.

He turned and slowly started to retreat into the shadows of the cavern. Spectre cast a gaze at Samus which was returned. She was powerful if Kraid fell before her might. That meant the next commander was in trouble, but if Spectre was correct? The final challenge before her would be Ridley, Spectre planned to observe each battle before the winged commander. He'd join in at the fight with Ridley, he believed. Any time before then would mean he wouldn't know what Samus was capable of at full power.

"He failed; she's advancing lower into the caverns." Spectre reported, his armor the only source of light. "Be ready for when she comes, otherwise? She will kill you." Spectre said, raising his arm in the meantime.

Spectre turned to look over his shoulder before raising an arm to fire a single rocket which smashed into the ceiling a moment later. Spectre watched as rock and metal rained down upon the passage behind him.

Spectre hummed, clicking his fingers together at the moment. He marched further into the cavern while he started to think of how to counter the bounty hunter. If Kraid could not defeat her? Then she was far stronger than he believed, if Kraid alone could not stop her? Then Spectre believed she would almost impossible to fight at the end of the day.

Still? If he needed to think about the next encounter, if she was skilled like this? Then it would take a large effort on their behalf to overcome. Spectre sighed and shook his head as he crossed his arms.

"The hunter will continue back deeper underground." Spectre stated as he paused for an instant.

He pondered what would happen to the others if she was allowed to progress further into the planet. His orders were to stop Samus, but he didn't have a viable plan of attack. Spectre had watched various creatures of Zebes run at her, attempting to crush her under their weight. It had failed, proving the tactic didn't have the merit he thought it did. Spectre crossed off simply attempting to overpower Samus, Kraid's sheer size and power proved that was not a strategy he could try.

"Knowing her? She will be forced to head to Phantoon's territory, they made it one of the guardians." Spectre reasoned as he began to alter his path. "Commander Ridley will be last on her list of targets. He'll ambush her just before the gate itself." Spectre stated, rolling his eyes at this.

Phantoon was more of a creature then a leader. He knew well enough he'd be watching that fight unfold just like this one.

"Ridley won't even allow others to help, the commander is too arrogant in his own power." Spectre said, his visor lighting up the small narrow damp path he had taken to walking. "And Phantoon isn't sentient enough to allow people like me to coordinate a strategy with him. It seems I'll be facing her alone." Spectre added, running a hand over his armor.

"Great, that will be interesting." Spectre muttered, already content to face the hunter. "If that is to be the case? The best idea is to continue to study Samus. She must have a weakness I can exploit, a hidden blind spot she won't see coming, a flaw in her weapons." Spectre added, sighing to himself.

He leaned on a spiky wall, his armor causing the wall to crack slightly under its weight. Spectre almost considered the idea he'd be buried under the weight of the mountain this base had been built into. It was worth a chuckle at the second.

"Ok then, let's see where Samus is now." Spectre stated, bringing up the holographic display he had before.

He tapped several keys on the vibrant green interface, placing the code he had been given in like clockwork. He was rewarded with a small beep as the machine accepted this and showed Samus continuing inwards towards her objective. It was time he got to his if she was so focused, anymore waiting and he'd be losing time he needed to make up.

"Hmm." Spectre said before breaking into a run as he rushed towards his objective. "Phantoon will die, or whatever the proper term is for him." Spectre added before sighing as he turned and looked down the tunnel.

"There is not time and resources in the galaxy enough to make sense." Spectre said as he shook his head to himself. "I have to make it to Phantoon, find out the plan." Spectre stated as he hummed to himself.
