Over the course of a decade, there were several instances where Sideshow Bob could have easily snapped and done away with Krusty. And yet, somehow, Bob was able to control himself. Usually, it was because Bob had to focus on preserving what remained of himself following a brutal show.

There was this one time when, as the "grand finale" for that afternoon's show, Bob had to balance on a ball, like a lowly circus animal. If that was all Bob had been forced to do, that wouldn't have been so humiliating. But Bob also had to juggle bananas while Mr. Teeny and his vicious cousins tried to snatch them from his hands. The monstrous little apes climbed all over Bob, as if he was the tree he so resembled. The chimpanzees' strong hands grabbed almost every part of Bob in their scramble for the bananas, and he sustained a few bites. The pain was enough to make Bob lose his balance, and he toppled off the ball. The bananas splattered all over Bob, and he found himself getting swarmed by the chimps, while the children in the audience laughed and laughed. Bob hoped they weren't amused by his pain. He hoped desperately that the children simply didn't understand how excruciating this experience was.

The show finally ended, the chimps called off at last. What remained of Bob staggered off the stage, and the battered sidekick glared at Krusty, who was smoking a Cuban cigar and taking no notice of him, or anyone else. Bob very much wanted to shove that cigar straight down Krusty's tobacco-ravaged throat, but he decided it was best to sort out his priorities. Bob checked out his bruised, bleeding arms and figured he ought to hurry and get vaccinated for rabies.
