Chapter 22: In Their Own Quirky Ways
"Careful now, I froze them while they were off balance, on purpose." Said Todoroki , as the ice surrounding the zero pointer started to shatter due to the robots overwhelming weight.
The zero pointer started to fall towards the students, parts of its body breaking from the ice as it finally met the ground.
Creating a dusty but misty fog but slowly fading away just as the smaller pointers approached the students.
"WHAT A SHOWING, SHOTO TODOROKI HAS TAKEN THE LEAD!" Yelled Present Mic
"Hey wait a minute they're are students trapped under that robot!" Yelled one of the students.
"Should we help them?" Asked one student.
"Are we seriously gonna die?" Asked another student in fear.
A girl with green hair in the form of vines noticed that one of the metal layers of the zero pointer was starting to open from the inside.
"I'm alive!" Yelled Kirishima as the metal layer gave out, finally getting free as he got out of the robot.
"Todoroki, can't belive you'd pull something like that, sheesh, anyone other than me would've been killed." Said Kirishima.
The metal beside Kirishima broke free as well, seeing Tetsutetsu break free and even noticing his entire body covered in steel.
"Class 1-A really is full of jerks!" Yelled Tetsutetsu.
"I'll smash that ice guy when I get my hands on him!" Yelled Tetsutetsu, both him and Kirishima realized both their quirks were almost the same as the two started to run but were frustrated about standing out.
"Our quirks are the same, how i'm suppised to stand out now?" Asked Kirishima as he crying.
Looking forward they saw a shadowy figure leaping above him.
The two boys and even the students behind them watched as Michiru had jumped from the robot, getting further ahead of the crowd as she focused on the path ahead.
Sheesh Michiru is fast! Yelled Kirishima.
"What is she doing?" Asked Kirishima as she noticed where Michiru was headed.
"Is she crazy she's heading straight for the zero pointer!" Yelled Tetsutetsu.
"That things gonna crush her!" Yelled Tetsutetsu.
Shirou got nervous, starting to realize what he believed Michiru might do was actually happening.
He knew she was stubborn but for her to do something this reckless was making him worried.
Even Tokoyami was taken by surprise with the risky move Michiru is doing.
Michiru what are you doing? Asked Tokoyami.
"Target acquired." Said the zero pointer as it raised its arm as Michiru charged full speed ahead, the moment she landed she was running towards its right leg.
However before she could, suddenly flashed right through them.
They looked ahead to see Will completely covered in lightning and moving at break neck pace, she could even give super speed a run for their money.
She completely destroyed the robot and made her way to Todoroki.
Michiru looked in shock before she looked back as the other students were trying to get past the robots, seeing a few of her classmates getting over the zero pointers as they were trying to catch up.
"WHAT'S THIS, WILL VANDOM OF CLASS 1-A MAKES A DARING CALL AS SHE'S NOW IN SECOND PLACE!" Yelled Present Mic.
Everyone was surprised to see what Will did, even taking notice about how bold she's being trying to win the race.
Michiru was powerful, but so far just like most of the class she's proven her strength over most of them and she wanted to do so as well.
'She's so fast and agile, no wonder she's in second place, I need to catch up. Thought Michiru.
Tch, she's my friend but if I wanna win this I need to prove myself. Thought Michiru.
Tokoyami hitched a ride on Dark Shadow climbing the zero pointer just behind Sero and Bakugo.
At the teacher's seats, All Might and the other faculty members were already expecting that the first students that will pass through the obstacle were Class 1-A
"As expected, The first class that can get pass through were the Class 1-A." Said the cowboy hero.
"Yeah, but the other courses aren't bad either, it's just." Said All Might.
"Class 1-A doesn't have any time to sit around either." Said Aizawa as he seemingly continue as the screen shows that the majority of Class 1-A were already overcome the first obstacle
Jiro use her earlobes to short-circuit a couple of them, Uraraka use her Zero Gravity to make them float and unable to reach her, Kaminari use his electricity to short-circuit it just like Jiro's method, and Ojiro use his strong tail to smash some of them.
Midoriya then ran.
I can't rely on One for All this early in the competition. Thought Midoriya as he dodged one of the one pointers arms.
He noticed something up ahead.
A piece of the arm Todoroki knocked down. Thought Midoriya.
He picked up while struggling to hold it.
This thing won't let up, it's like it's targeting me. Thought Midoriya as the robot chased after him.
With quick thinking he was able to use the piece of metal to strike the robot and short circuiting it.
Run, keep going! Yelled Midoriya as he ran on ahead while still carrying the piece of metal.
Then several zero-point robots were going down at the shot of her cannon each, then another one was taken down until all of the robots were gone.
He looked back to see Yaoyorozu with a cannon beside her.
"Piece of cake." Said Yaoyorozu as she ran, leaving the cannon behind
She took down those giant robots by herself, no wonder she got in through recommendation Thought Midoriya as he continue running along with the other students.
Soon, everyone was running and proceeding to the second obstacle now that the robots were gone
"Dammit, There's no way in hell I'm gonna let Red Hair, Icy-Hot and that Raccoon beat me!" Yelled Bakugo as he was now over the zero pointer trying to get ahead, blasting against the zero pointer as he propelled himself farther ahead.
His determination and drive to beat all those around him pushed him forward, wanting to prove how worthy he was to win this festival and be a hero. But even with all that confidence, it was his greatest weakness, as well as his temper.
He yelled once more, continuing to fly in the air as he and other U.A. students were catching up to Will, Todoroki and Michiru, only for all of them to soon get to the second obstacle of the race.
Michiru wasn't too far behind Will , but the distance she had between her and the rest of U.A. was only getting shorter when she heard the rumbling of the robots further behind her falling to the ground.
She realized that if the students were now getting past the first obstacle she would need to increase her speed now to get ahead, she needed to keep going so she could get first, she had gotten this far and she didn't want to give up now.
She tiredly thought to herself, pausing between breaths as she continued to run.
I can't give up now, I need to win this, I need to prove I can hold my own! Yelled Michiru
Will wasn't too far behind Todoroki as she continued to run, the track they ran on was smooth with concrete fences on both sides.
Since the first obstacle was trees all around them, it was rather peaceful and quiet but would only get louder once those further behind her including her fellow classmates as they heard the shouts and noises of those running further behind slowly catch up.
Will had a head start from the swarm of robots from the first obstacle but she couldn't get too comfortable despite being in second place, she needed to be ready for what was next to come.
By the time she finally saw Todoroki he was already crossing through the second obstacle, and it was a very deep drop.
The second obstacle was a canyon that stretched far ahead across the track, with only long tightropes to cross through above the fall.
But the canyon was almost cut up, with portions of earth connecting to others only by rope.
Compared to the first obstacle, this one would take time to cross on the ropes without falling, for most of the students at least.
Michiru, when she caught up, looked down, surprised about how deep of a fall it was and the fact she couldn't even see the bottom.
She couldn't believe what she's seen so far, first the robots most of the students faced in the entrance exam and now what looked like a bottomless canyon left her speechless.
That is definitely an unpleasant fall… Yelled Michiru.
Michiru looked back ahead, seeing ropes covered in ice knowing well Todoroki slid across them with his quirk.
She had to admit his dual quirk was good, especially at times like this.
She looked back to check their lead, seeing her classmates almost to the second obstacle as she turned back ahead knowing what she had to do.
But she was nervous, it was gonna be either breathtaking or terrifying if she made a mistake but she knew what she was doing as she shook off her worries.
By the time most of the students arrived at the second obstacle Present Mic made the second announcement for this obstacle while the students looked across the landscape.
The students had a similar reaction to what Michiru had, surprised to see such an obstacle after hoping that facing a horde of robots was enough.
Some people were hesitant at first, with a few even investigating the drop.
"When did they even have time to build something like this?" Asked Uraraka, speechless about the size of the canyon when Asui was the first to move, leaping forward and landing onto a rope.
"This is my chance to show what I can do, Ribbit!" Yelled Asui as she walked on the rope looking ahead while Yoarashi flew past.
"Yahoo!" Yelled Yoarashi with glee now finally able to show what he can do as he flew across the canyon.
A girl with pink hair started to hover as she laughed maniacally, flying herself off the edge and eventually swinging over to the platform she was attached to.
Using her hover soles and recoiling wire arrows, she flung herself in the air and fired out her wire arrows once more to move forward.
"Ok ok, here goes nothing!" Yelled Michiru as she walked back a bit, getting a bit of distance as she ran forward when her arms started to morph her arms into wings and started to fly.
Befoe anyone else made a move, everyone heard footsteps.
Everyone turn to Will's direction, it seems that she was ready to face the second challenge, then.
She motioned her hands in punching position and then to everyone's surprise, a pillar of ground appear horizontally from them and then it happened the same over and over again on the vertical pillars until she manage to create a makeshift bridge and then he simply cross through it, ignoring the fact that he just make the other students a path too
"Wow!" Yelled one of the students.
"She just literally make a bridge using earth, what kind of quirk she just had?" Asked another student.
"Who cares, she did us a huge favor so let's go!" Yelled
Then everyone cross Will's makeshift bridge with ease.
All the teachers were amazed by what they saw, clearly Will was going all out.
All Might chuckled a bit having to admit back in U.A. he would always rush in head first even in the Sports Festival.
"I guess I'm in for a treat being a U.A. teacher aren't I?" Asked Shirou.
"Oh honey you haven't seen anything yet." Replied Midnight in a flirty tone that made him slightly uncomfortable.
Cybersix was looking at Will, with interest in her.
As Todoroki slid across the last rope from the second obstacle, using his ice to help balance himself and move forward, finally jumping off as he ran up the steps to continue on the track he saw Michiru flying behind him as she eventually landed, while Bakugo was already catching up.
Now angry and ready to blow up anyone in his way.
"GET YOUR ASSES BACK HERE!" Yelled Bakugo at the two students running as he blasted behind them, firing more explosions in the air that shot him forward.
I'm surprised it took Bakugo this long to get fired up. Thought Todoroki.
Kagemori on the other hand has kept her pace on me this entire time, she's good I'll give her that. Thought Todoroki as he knew Michiru was a good student, mainly due to her experience with her quirk.
But she was nothing compared to him, he's already so far ahead and had only used his right side, and he would continue to do so to prove how strong he was.
While the race continued, most of the crowd all around the stadium talked to one another about the ongoing events, even about the students who participated.
Several minutes earlier
All people could hear was talk about the Hero Course students, the fact they survived the U.S.J. and how few of them were already leading in the race so far.
It was all one particular pro hero could hear all around her, it was annoying but she was stuck with it since her long white rabbit ears were part of her quirk.
Ever since she first heard about the Hero Course students that survived the U.S.J. incident she needed to see for herself who they were, all she saw were children despite a handful that had some fire and determination, but she was never the one to take in student interns.
For her it was always hero work alone, things were more interesting and better that way.
Miruko thought having sidekicks or other heroes working with her would only slow her down in the field.
She almost thought it was just a waste of time just to be here but she couldn't help but watch what was happening in the first obstacle.
Those kids looked like they were gonna pee their pants, I can take those robots on easy. Thought Miruko as she she continued to watch and see how Endeavor's son completely frozen one of the zero pointers as he took first place, eventually she watched the machine fall to the ground while the machines continued to block the path for the students.
She continued to boringly watch with her head down against her arms, resting both on the railing that separated the lower stands from the arena.
That was when she first noticed something that caught her eye, raising her head to better focus one of the large jumbo screens, watching a student running from the crowd as they jumped from the frozen but damaged zero pointer and making a sprint towards another.
One of the cameras changed its angle trying to get a better view, Miruko finally got a good glimpse of what was a female brown animal looking girl that was running as fast as a cheetah on all fours.
Hm, this kid's got some guts to be pulling these kinds of moves, I like this one. Thought Miruku.
She stood up a bit more, still leaning against the railing in her skintight white leotard, but watched more closely at the TVs that recorded the race just outside the stadium.
Despite being focused she couldn't help but overhear some small talk further behind her as her ears twitched, trying to focus on the voices of those speaking about her.
Michiru started to pant, slowing down when she finally saw the last obstacle giving her a chance to breathe.
She was about to continue her pace after just seeing Todoroki slowly moving when she noticed countless little hills all across the track, she looked over at a large sign just beside her with writing and a skull.
She read it and realized what this obstacle was, the sign was a warning, and the final obstacle was a minefield.
From what it looked like the mines were planted all across the track, giving only enough room for easy but small movements in between each one which meant she needed to watch her step.
But she thought about this for a moment realizing what this really was, and what she was about to do.
Wait a minute, this is a freaking minefield since when mines are allowed in sports?! Yelled Michiru in disbelief, she even saw Todoroki actually struggling with this but she had no choice to do this herself.
God this better be worth it. Thought Michiru as she started.
While Michiru and Todoroki spent time trying to cross the minefield, some of the other students finally caught up, but what came next was the sound of explosions and screaming left and right.
Said by Present Mic just a few moments ago, the mines were specially designed to be flashy and loud but still not strong enough to hurt someone, just enough to propel or shoot them in the air if they were to trigger them.
Students panicked and struggled, some tried to use their quirks to cross while others tried to rush it, with most suffering the same fate as others around them as explosions flew some people back or in the air.
It was complete chaos, practically like dominos, they were one by one getting hit by the mines and it was only a matter of time until the next one would go off.
Michiru tried to get to Todoroki as fast as possible, from what it looked like Todoroki couldn't use his ice during this obstacle which gave her a chance. But the fact that she couldn't rush through this obstacle made it challenging too.
Damn, I should've thought this through before getting into this. Thought Michiru.
If I just cross these mines without triggering them they won't go off which means, maybe I can use one of my abilities. Thought Michiru to herself, if she was gonna shuffle through these mines faster than Todoroki she needed to use an ability specifically for maneuvering, something fast but that can help her move quickly in any direction.
She came up with the best one, trying to morph her legs but was stopped midway by familiar shouts of anger and annoyance just behind her.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY RACOON!" Yelled Bakugo, blasting forward as he aimed his right arm at Michiru, prepared to fire an explosion.
Michiru ducked, crouching to avoid the blast but was forced to stop her legs from morphing due to being caught off guard.
Bakugo tried to fire another blast, forcing Michiru to put her arms in front of her giving her no choice but to take the blast as she felt pain across the fur on her arms.
Michiru cried out, falling to her knees from Bakugo's blast while trying to avoid the mines.
She couldn't get her mind off the burns she had on her arms but managed to hear Bakugo yell before he rushed Todoroki.
"I TOLD YOU RACCOON, YOU WERE GONNA REGRET COMING TO THIS SCHOOL, YOU SHOULD'VE STAYED BACK IN THE TRASH WHERE YOU BELONG!" Yelled Bakugo.
Will then look around to see every students was struggling to get past the third and last obstacle, however, she had a different plan on this one
"Let's see how this one will work on my favor." Said Will with a smirk.
Then she motion his arms upward and then, a circular platform made of earth was raised with her on the center, then she quickly sway her arms back and forth like a pendulum (her left arm on the back while her right arm on the front and then vice-versa) and as she do that, the platform she was stepping on was moving forward for him and gaining speed, it hit some mines but that didn't slow her down.
Guess fighting alongside Benders paid off. Thought Will.
"What!" Yelled Ida.
"Move it!" Yelled Midoriya.
The other students was forced to move out of the way as Will was plowing through the minefield effortlessly using this method
Todoroki, Michiru and Bakugo were in complete shock.
What Will was doing made Michiru go completely silent, it had been so long since she was discriminated against like that.
But the fact how Bakugo has been treating not only her but her classmates terribly pissed her off, and now she was almost at her breaking point.
All she did was stare at the ground she was kneeling on, completely lost from reality while Todoroki and Bakugo fought it out for first place.
The three leading students was slowly hearing a rumble behind them, normally they'll just ignore it but this rumble was becoming more and more closer to them, then when the two finally turn to see what is that, they were stunned to see Will was on the platform made out of earth and it was moving really fast, it trigger some mines to explode but that didn't slow him down as he continue all the way to their position
"What!" Yelled Michiru in shock.
The two was forced to move away from each other and this give Midoriya the way to reach the finish line of the minefield in a very easy way, jumping off it, he continue to ran all the way through the end
"Damn it!" Yelled Todoroki.
"DAMN YOU!" Yelled Bakugo.
Bakugo was forced to use his explosion into maximum power to catch up to her while Todoroki was forced to freeze the minefield in order to create a path for him and unfortunately, for the others too
Michiru didn't even hear the commotion around her, or the large explosions that occurred back at the beginning of the minefield, only to not realize that Midoriya was on his way to first place midair thanks to both the explosion and the metal plate he carried.
Todoroki, Midoriya, Will and Bakugo were so focused on first place they didn't even pay attention to Michiru.
Students behind her and the crowd watched as they had no clue what was going on with her, even Shirou was concerned.
But for some reason she just laid there, completely zoned out thinking about the people that mocked her and threw her down in the past to present day.
She was sick, and tired, of all of their crap.
Michiru clenched ground, grasping the dirt in her hands as she looked back forward.
She was so full of emotions she didn't even know what she exactly felt, anger, determination, sadness, it was all hitting her at once.
Michiru didn't know what happened, but she knew for a fact she wanted to prove everyone that pushed her down that they were wrong, she wanted to prove that she was strong.
No one else could see her teal eyes flash bright blue, but people could see her body emit flashes of blue light across her body.
"Wait what's going on with her?" Yelled Jiro.
"What's her deal, is this part of her quirk?" Asked Sato.
"No way." Said Tokoyami.
Wait, this is? Asked Shirou as he knew what this could've meant, but all he could do was watch while no one else knew what Michiru was experiencing, he had seen this a couple times before back home when she was undergoing serious emotional or stressful situations.
It had been awhile since he'd seen this but he took note of it, even All Might was rather surprised by this.
The crowd watched the girl stand back up, some losing their attention from the quartet racing for first and onto the girl that stood there.
Michiru's legs morphed into her rabbit legs, what she originally planned on using, her ears stretched upwards and tail shrunk slightly to fit her appearance.
After doing so that was when she started to cross the mines like a rabbit.
She felt so light, so agile, so alive, she'd never felt this way before as she maneuvered through the mines with such speed eventually catching up to Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki.
The three students were trying to catch up to Will, who was now in the lead.
They didn't even realize their classmate was right behind them until Present Mic shouted once more.
"I DON'T BELIEVE IT MICHIRU KAGEMORI IS MAKING A COMEBACK FOR FIRST PLACE, IT LOOKS LIKE SHE REALLY IS MOVING LIKE A RABBIT!"
Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki looked back to see the girl they were beating was gaining on them rapidly, their eyes widened to see Michiru pass by them before they had any chance to react.
Where did this come from? Asked Midoriya in shock.
She's maneuvering through those mines quicker than they can go off. Thought Todoroki.
He needed to try and catch up to first place, but he had no choice but to use his quirk in order to do so.
Was she holding back this entire time? Asked Bakugo in shock.
That damn animal won't make a fool out of me! Yelled Bakugo, clenching his teeth knowing he needed to keep his placement by any means, using more powerful blasts than he usually used to shoot himself forward.
"DAMMIT, I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU ASSHOLES BEAT ME!" Yelled Bakugo.
Everyone was on the edge of their seats, it was down to Will and Michiru as they were almost toe to toe for first place.
Will had used both her Quintessence from earlier and Air, making an all out sprint and not looking back despite hearing Present Mic's announcement of Michiru's comeback.
Michiru on the other hand was still filled with adrenaline, already using her cheetah legs following her completion of the minefield.
She was already gaining on Will while being followed behind Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki, all five now finally entering the dark hallway that led to the finish line.
All people could do now was wait and see who would win as they stared impatiently at the hallway while cameras turned towards the exit to reveal the winner, even Present Mic paused just before finishing his declaration.
"AND THE WINNER OF THE OBSTACLE COURSE IS..." Yelled Present Mic, making everyone tense.
"WHY IT'S A TIE, BOTH MICHIRU KAGEMORI AND WILL VANDOM OF CLASS 1-A!" Yelled Present Mic.
The stadium roared with cheer and music that could be heard just outside the stadium itself.
Both heroes and civilians alike that watched the race finally got to see who won, even those that watched outside of the stadium or from their homes.
Both Will and Michiru were the first to make it out seconds before, finally at a complete stop as they looked around to see not just the cameras towards them but also the audience cheering.
This was the next step that Michiru finally overcame, she was so relieved.
Shigaraki was watching the event and regonized the two ladies.
"It's two of those three brats." Said Shigaraki as he began scratching his neck.
Despite having the desire to celebrate, she fell to her knees on the ground taking a minute to breathe while Midoriya arrived in second place.
By the time he came out he saw Will and Michiru just ahead of him, despite everything he'd done to try and win the first round he almost cried.
He wanted to prove he could win this to All Might but he still had a chance, even so he couldn't help but be happy for his friend.
"Will, Kagemori!" Yelled Midoriya.
The two grils looked over at Midoriya jogging over, noticing disappointment in his green eyes but also a small smile that tried to bring reassurance.
"You did a good…good job." Said Midoriya , his tone of voice was a bit quiet this time as he was disappointed in himself, Michiru stood up while Will was walking over to Midoriya.
Midoriya's cheeks become red when Will briefly hugged the boy, tiredly smiling back at him.
"Hey, All Might is proud to don't forget that." Said Will as reassurance brought some relief to Midoriya, making him feel better until they heard a couple people call their names.
"Deku, Vandom, Kagemori!" Yelled Uraraka, slowly jogging over while she breathed heavily.
The trio noticed how some of their peers started to arrive through the dark hallway, seeing Uraraka as one of the few.
"That was so amazing, escpialy Vandom and Kagemori, I can't believe you two got tied for first place, and you Deku for getting second place, I'm so jealous!" Yelled Uraraka.
Midoriya covered his face with his own arms, trying to cover his face as it turned red to Uraraka's compliments.
"But Kagemori, what was that anyway, you were all glowing and then speeding through those mines so quickly!" Yelled Uraraka.
Michiru realized what she meant when sweat dropped.
"Well what can I say I'm full of surprises hehe." Said Michiru as she nervously laughed, tapping her fingers together when she tried to dodge the question.
While Midoriya spoke with some of his peers, All Might watched over the boy from his seat pondering about the recent turn of events.
Shirou looked over to see the Symbol of Peace smiling but curious to what he was thinking about.
"What are you smiling about?" Asked Shirou, startling All Might at first for he was lost in his train of thought.
"Ah well you know, these kids work so hard to be here." Replied All Might.
"I just can't believe how much they've grown already." Said All Might as he looked back at the arriving students in the stadium, Shirou knew he wasn't just talking about the students but his successor Midoriya.
But he had to admit Michiru also surprised him, he didn't expect what had happened to her during the final obstacle.
Some of the faculty and even the audience thought it was a special ability from Michiru's quirk but he knew something happened mentally for her, but his questions had to wait.
Shirou rubbed his eyes, a yawn broke out of his mouth.
He got up and stretched his arms, even turning into his Beastman form to help him stretch.
"I think I'm gonna go for a walk to stretch my legs, anyone wanna join?" Asked Shirou.
Hound Dog stood up and tried to answer normally what came out was a doglike grunt, taking Shirou's request while the two left the room, leaving the other faculty remaining there.
"My-my first years are certainly better than the previous ones." Said Nezu positively, sitting himself back in his seat.
All Might looked over to see he almost looked like a toddler in a car seat.
"Ah well it seems like so far only the hero course students have managed to make it through." Said All Might.
"Of course we know that'll mean for the next round." Said All Might as he started to notice more students arriving into the stadium, both him and some of the faculty took note that only those from the hero course have so far made it which did not surprise them.
Even so that means the next two rounds will be a showdown between them.
Time passed for only a few more minutes as the arena started to fill up with U.A.'s students, soon Midnight would declare those from first to 42nd place would go on to the next round, finally displaying them on the hologram projector.
All of those from Class 1-A and Class 1-B made it in, including Mei Hatsume of the Support Course.
"To those that made it to the top 42 congratulations!" Yelled Midnight.
"But for those that didn't make the cut don't worry, there are still other activities that'll you'll wanna take part in!" Yelled Midnight towards the remaining participants.
"This next round will give you your chance to step in the light, be prepared to give your all!" Yelled Midnight.
Let's see what our next little game shall be, ooh the waiting is torture!" Yelled Midnight as she swung her whip at the projector, as the randomizer started to change rapidly.
"Prepare yourselves for." Said Midnight in suspense.
Midnight paused, then pointed her arm at the screen as it finally stopped at a particular game called the Cavalry Battle.
"The Cavalry Battle!" Yelled Midnight.
"Cavalry battle, I'm terrible at those." Said Kaminari as he groaned, a couple had to admit that particular game relied on teamwork which could be difficult.
"Hey this means we can work together, don't sweat it!" Yelled Yoarashi as he smiled at Kaminari, trying to stay positive.
Some people realized this type of game was one where teams were chosen, which meant they'll be split up into groups.
"Allow me to explain, teams may be made between two to four people." Said Midnight.
"But here's the catch, each player is assigned a point value based on the placement they made from the obstacle course." Said Midnight.
"Oh so it's just like the entrance exam where our placements were based off the points we made, sounds pretty simple." Said Sato as he was starting to catch on to Midnight's explanation, even Uraraka and Ashido started to figure it out themselves.
"That means the point values will be different for each team depending on whose on it." Said Ashido in agreement to Uraraka's explanation, but was then silenced by Midnight as she yelled from the stage, swinging her whip at them after feeling her spotlight to be stolen.
"Maybe you should shut up and let your teacher explain things to you!" Yelled Midnight.
Once Uraraka and Ashido became silent, embarrassed but ready to listen, Midnight continued.
"Now where I was, oh yes, the points for each placement go up in increments of five points starting from the bottom." Said Midnight.
"So 42nd place starts at five points, 41st is worth ten and so on." Said Midnight.
Both Will and Michiru got curious about their point value since they were tied in first place, her, Jiro and Tokoyami would've guessed what hers was if Midnight hadn't said what the top placement was.
"And the point value for the first place contestant, even in a tie, is, ten million points!" Yelled Midnight.
Some people gasped, surprised but also realized what this meant for a particular person as they looked in her direction, even Tokoyami and Jiro stood by silently staring at her.
Will and Michiru went completely silent, frozen in place when they heard those last words.
Had Michiru been in her human form people would've seen how pale she looked just after hearing those words.
Michiru couldn't even bear herself to speak when eyes surrounded her.
It was almost like a pack of hungry predators were prepared to strike their prey, and all she could feel now was a cold but dark presence around her.
Really? Thought Shinso.
So in other words if you take down either team and get her points. Thought Hatsume.
Then you'll win the cavalry battle… Thought Everyone in the The crowd almost all together, this meant anyone not on Will or Michiru's team would have a chance to steal either points go win, even if it meant risking their own.
"That's right, it's survival of the fittest, with those at the bottom now having a chance to overthrow the top!" Yelled Midnight.
A/N: I was originally planning to have Will win solely the course, but i was afraid people would anticipate this so i switched it up with a time.
The next two chapters will be told from different points of view, one from Michiru's team and the second on Will's team, the story will progress at the end on the second one.
