Chapter 28: Bakugo vs. Uraraka
"Is anyone else worried about this match?" Asked Asui.
"I'm really tempted to walk out and not watch." Replied Jiro as even she had to admit Bakugo was aggressive and unpredictable, and with him facing Uraraka there was no telling what he'll do.
"I have to admit, I just hope Uraraka will be okay." Said Yoarashi as he was scratching his head unsure but prayed hoping the match would go smoothly for her, until a bold voice caught people off guard.
"No guys." Said Michiru, keeping her eyes directly at Uraraka.
Some of her classmates noticed a determined smile similar to Uraraka's.
"She can do this, I know she can." Said Michiru with hope.
"But we need to be here to cheer her on, because she's our classmate, and we'll be here to make sure she gives her all." Said Michiru as she looked back at her classmates, watching as some of their worried looks faded away; they never knew why but it felt like Michiru was the leader in some aspects, next to Midoriya or Will of course, as if she knew exactly how to react.
"FROM THE HERO COURSE OF CLASS 1-A, KATSUKI BAKUGO!" Yelled Present Mic.
"AMD HIS OPPONENT, ALSO FROM CLASS 1-A, OCHACO URARAKA!" Yelled Present Mic.
The crowed cheered at this.
"Your the one who screws with gravity, right pink cheeks?" Asked Bakugo.
"Pink cheeks?" Asked Uraraka, wondering why he was calling her that, not noticing that her cheeks were pink at the moment..
"Well if your gonna give up, do it now, cause i'm not gonna hold back." Said Bakugo in a warning tone.
Uraraka glared at him, letting that be her answer.
"Midoriya." Said Ida as they were watching as well as the rest of their classmates.
Midoriya looked to see what he wanted.
Ida held up his hands.
"I'm curious, what was that strategy you came up with to give Uraraka an advantage against Bakugo?" Asked Ida.
He held up his notebook, the one Bakugo burned up.
"Honestly, it wasn't really much of a plan, Katchan's so strong, when it comes to close combat he almost never has any openings." Replied Midoriya as he was thinking back on the close combat training.
"And the more he moves, the more he sweats, which makes him more powerful." Said Midoriya.
"He's gotten really good at using his explosions to move around in the air, but if Uraraka is able to touch him, she can use her quirk to make him float." Said Midoriya.
"She can send him out of bonds, that's why it's obvious as that's what Uraraka needs to do to gain the upper hand." Said Midoriya.
Then, Midnight raise her flag
"Are you both ready?" Asked Midnight.
"YEAH!" Yelled Bakugo.
"Yeah." Said Uraraka simply with a blank voice.
"Then, BEGIN!" Yelled Midnight as she put her flag down.
They fight was commenced, she then dash forward in attempt to strike him first.
"Giving up isn't an option for me!" Yelled Uraraka.
"Wow, look at her go!" Yelled Will in amazement.
"That has to be a good start at the very least." Said Michiru in agreement.
"Yeah, all she has to do is touch him!" Yelled Midoriya in excitement.
"It won't be easy though, you know Bakugo's not gonna let Uraraka get near him." Said Ida.
"And that's why he isn't dodging." Said Midoriya, starting to fear the outcome.
"He'll focus his energy on counterattacks." Said Midoriya.
Bakugo snickered when he saw this.
What a plain move. Thought Bakugo.
He thought back to when he fought Midoriya at the Training Exercise.
"Then, DIE you pathetic extra!" Yelled Bakugo.
Bakugo ignite his palms, and then, he raise it towards Uraraka and a large explosion occurred on the arena.
Uraraka wasn't able to dodge the attack due to the wide area it covers, smoke from the explosion was covering their line of sight.
Some of class 1-A gasped, worried over what Bakugo may do to Uraraka with his quirk during this match.
"He blasted her head on." Said Yoarashi, growing more nervous as sweat dropped down his head.
"Uraraka!" Yelled Michiru in great worry.
Jiro and Asui were freaking out.
"I guess Bakugo isn't planning on showing her any mercy." Said Asui with great worry.
"He's never shown anyone mercy." Said Will with great worry in her voice as well.
Stupid, i should have known that was going to happen. Thought Uraraka in her head.
"You should have dropped out of the match, cause there's no way you can beat me." Said Bakugo.
Bakugo saw a silhouette from the smoke, thinking that it was her, he ignite his palms again and trigger another explosion on that direction, but to his surprise, all he can see was a U.A. jacket.
Uraraka suddenly appear behind him with an attempt to touch him so she can make him float, but Bakugo use his quick reflexes to sharply raise his right hand directly on her face without looking at her.
Shirou's eyes widened, surprised but impressed with her quick thinking.
She knew her opponent would overwhelm her with another attack, by predicting so she used her shirt to catch him off guard, giving her the chance to make a move while he was distracted.
But despite her best efforts, Shirou knew well of Bakugo's quick reaction time.
When she reached her hand forward towards Bakugo's back, he turned with barely enough time, swinging his arm just above the ground, emitting his explosions towards Uraraka that blew her backwards with the rubble around her.
"That boy's got a hell of a reaction time, she can't get the drop on him." Said the cowboy hero.
"I'm worried for Uraraka, she can only float him if she touches him, that being said she's at a major disadvantage." Said Thirteen, concerned over Uraraka's wellbeing during this match, meanwhile All Might agreed, but he believed that Uraraka had more in mind than just constant charges.
When he looked over, he noticed how focused Shirou was into the match, with his elbows resting on his knees, he had one of his hands covering his mouth.
He seemed interested in this match, his sharp teal eyes didn't even move a bit from where they looked.
Bakugo's aggressive but powerful attacks surely can catch anyone's eye, even his combat skills. Thought All Might.
But that's not what you're focused on is it? Thought All Might, realizing it was perhaps the other stubborn competitor in the arena that continued to struggle in the fight.
"Look at that reaction time." Said Sero with worry.
"Seriously, the dude's insane, you can't get the drop on him." Said Kaminari in agreement.
"And since Uraraka can't use her Quirk unless she touches him, his lighting reflexes put her at a huge disadvantage." Said Kaminari.
Then Bakugo set another explosion from that hand, Uraraka gasp as she was blown away for good, she panted lightly at the damage she had taken so far, she was about to make her move, but...
"Too slow!" Yelled Bakugo.
Bakugo was already in front of her, and then, using both of his palms, he trigger a continuous explosion towards her.
Uraraka was left no choice but to cross her arms in front and withstand the attack, the explosion was so powerful that it causes the debris and rubble from the arena to be blown away.
"Is she okay?!" Yelled Asui in great distress.
"I can't watch this!" Yelled Jiro as she had to cover her eyes to avoid watching more.
"Man Bakugo, how much of a sadist are you?" Asked Michiru as Shirou was never that sadistic when he was beating up criminals.
"Uraraka." Said Midoriya as his eyes widened in worry as well.
"I got you!" Yelled Uraraka, running out of the smoke towards Bakugo's side.
Bakugo turned towards Uraraka, using the same move as before.
Creating more rubble as Uraraka flew back from another powerful blast.
The fight made the audience get goosebumps, some couldn't even watch this devastating battle.
It was almost too terrifying to see, no one was even cheering over this battle.
Despite Uraraka's fighting spirit, Bakugo kept blowing her back with constant powerful explosions as if he attempted to swat away an annoying fly that kept coming back.
"This isn't over yet!" Yelled Uraraka tiredly, not even taking a chance to catch her breath during her next charge towards Bakugo, only to suffer from another large blast.
The smoke made it too difficult to see the surroundings for both of them, and yet Uraraka kept charging towards the boy regardless.
"Uraraka isn't even taking a minute to catch her breath, this poor girl is gonna push herself too hard if this keeps up." Said Present Mic worriedly.
"Her decoy didn't work earlier, her attacks aren't strategized or planned, she's getting desperate." Said One hero, sweat dripping down his forehead.
Uraraka was starting to run on fumes, panting as she continued her charges towards Bakugo, ending with the same result.
More rubble blown up and Uraraka being blasted back from the untouched Bakugo.
"I don't know if I can watch this anymore." Said Will as she looked away.
"Shouldn't the teachers step in, this is getting too far!" Yelled another hero.
"Listen kid, If you wanna win, at least show some respect for your opponent, get her out of bounds and stop pushing her around!" Yelled a third hero towards Bakugo.
"Yeah stop acting like a bully and just finish the match!" Yelled The hero beside him, soon instigating others to join in.
Eventually, the match stopped for a brief moment as the crowd started to yell for not to cheer, but to boo at Bakugo for his actions in the match.
It soon spreaded like wildfire all across the stadium, heroes and audience members alike yelled in frustration towards Bakugo.
Will still sat among the seats while glaring hateful towards Bakugo.
You deserved this treatment, Baka. Thought Will as she knew that Bakugo was never going to be liked with an attitude like this.
"THE CROWD IS NOW BOOING BAKUGO, I HATE TO ADMIT IT, BUT I AGREE WITH THE-" Before Present Mic could even speak he was elbowed in the face by Aizawa's cast while the teacher took the mic away from him.
He yelled in disbelief towards his friend but did nothing for him when Aizawa spoke on the mic.
"Where is the man that started this uproar?" Asked Aizawa in anger.
"Are you a pro hero, because you can just go home right now and find another career path." Said Aizawa boldly, silencing the uproar as he continued.
"Bakugo is well aware of how strong Uraraka is, she deserves to be here just like him and the rest of the students." Said Aizawa.
He doesn't. Thought Will as she glared daggers into Bakugo.
"That's why he's doing whatever it takes to come out on top, even if it means wearing her out." Said Aizawa.
Bakugo knew well enough that she had the same desire to win just like everyone, that meant she would do whatever it took to win.
Bakugo looked across at the wounded girl, covered in scratches, bruises and rubble.
Her clothes were torn and dirty from all the attacks he hit her with, and yet after everyone he threw at her, she was still standing.
How is she still standing? Asked Bakugo in surprise.
This girl wasn't kidding about giving her all, she looks so worn down and yet she's still willing to fight. Thought Bakugo.
Why won't she just go down already, the damn extra. Thought Bakugo.
Even as Uraraka breathed heavily, exhausted and almost trembling with sweat dripping down her clothes she still had that same determined look on her face since the match.
"I think, it's time to finish this." Said Uraraka said between breaths.
Bakugo exhaled while adjusting his body up from his squatted battle stance.
There was no way she could go on any further, if she made even one more charge she would be finished.
But she stood up straight, raising her open but shaking hands to face one another as she continued to look at him.
"Thank you Bakugo, for this fight. and for keeping your eyes on me." Said Uraraka as she smirked.
"What?" Asked Bakugo as he confused about what she was talking about while people in the stands began to realize something big was about to happen.
Wait a minute, she's about to touch her hands together. Thought Shirou, raising his eyebrows upwards after realizing Uraraka's plan.
She kept herself low during the match, making Bakugo destroy the ground and create rubble. Thought Shirou.
But at the same time she kept charging at him repetitively to keep him focused on her, but with that he created weapons for her to float. Thought Shirou.
Which means, her final move is. Thought Shirou as he looked up with his eyes widened and he gasped, finally fitting the pieces to Uraraka's plan when he saw the countless floating debris that remained still just above the stadium.
"Release!" Yelled Uraraka, finally touching her fingers together and began her final move.
Rubble that floated above the stadium began to fall at a increasing rate, people started to look up in shock and amazement, even Bakugo looked up in shock.
"Wait a minute she did have a plan all along!" Yelled Midoriya, surprised about Uraraka's plan just as much as the rest of his class was.
"This could be her chance now!" Yelled Will.
Michiru smiled, but also shocked over seeing Uraraka's incredible plan.
With Bakugo distracted, Uraraka made one last sprint towards her opponent.
She was slower than before, but she still had her sights set on winning this match.
She wasn't finished yet, every step she took towards Bakugo was one step closer to victory she thought.
With this much debris, Bakugo won't be able to destroy or avoid all of them at once! Yelled Uraraka in her mind.
That'll be my opening, that'll be my chance to win this match! Yelled Uraraka.
This is my last chance, this will be my shot to win! Yelled Uraraka as she was only a few feet away from Bakugo, reaching out towards him, with that final moment where her hopes were filled with joy and satisfaction, until it all became shattered in the blink of an eye.
She was too focused to even pay attention until afterwards, but Bakugo had his arm aimed as if he held a gun upwards towards the falling rubble and made one powerful blast that engulfed nearly every last bit of rubble into nothing.
The blast was so powerful, even larger than the ones he shot at Uraraka that it shot her all the way back to the other side of the arena, meanwhile the shockwave of air blew all across the stadium and affected the surrounding crowd, yelping and struggling to hold against the strong winds.
There were no words for what people were seeing, no one even thinking for a second that this was possible.
As Uraraka grunted and struggled to get up from the ground, looking up at Bakugo.
Smoke and dust surrounded him, his strong appearance was intimidating enough, but what he had just done set the tone of the match.
"He did it in one shot." Said Uraraka as she was now struggling to speak as it is, overwhelmed from exhaustion and intimidation over Bakugo.
"I figured you had some stupid plan, that damn nerd must've helped you." Said Bakugo.
Everyone in the stands looked in disbelief over what had just happened.
That was too close, dammit. Thought Bakugo as he exhaled, gripping the same arm he used as it already tightened and shook from the blast he made.
It hurt like hell, but no pain no gain he thought.
He had no choice, he needed to destroy the rubble otherwise the girl would've had an opening, but it was still a close call, the second time already in this festival.
"BAKUGO SHOWS AN OVERWHELMING DEMONSTRATION OF POWER, HE BLASTED AWAY URARAKA'S FINISHING MOVE AND REMAINS UNTOUCHED!" Yelled Present Mic.
He's power is something, but let's see how it compares to mine. Thought Will.
I put everything i had into that, but i wasn't good enough. Thought Uraraka as she looked down at the ground with tears in her eyes.
Oh man. Thought Midoriya as he then gasped when Uraraka stood back up.
"Are you finished yet?" Asked Bakugo in annoyance.
Only to receive no reply while Uraraka slowly got up and turned towards him.
"All right then Uraraka, let's finish this!" Yelled Bakugo as he smiled, this girl had a lot of fight in her, and if she wanted to fight then so be it.
He ran towards her.
If Deku were here, he wouldn't give up yet! Yelled Uraraka as she turned around to face him one last time.
It only took two steps for Uraraka to take until she fell back to the ground, Bakugo grunted and stopped immediately, still weary but unsure if she could even fight.
"URARAKA IS DOWN!" Yelled Present Mic.
"Oh no she's down!" Yelled Yoarashi in great worry, most of the class was shaking in their seats, some couldn't even speak
"She's pushed herself too far past her limit." Said Ida as he covered his face, he was too worried as it was and he wasn't even sure what to think, as did Midoriya.
"Uraraka." Said Midoriya.
She put everything into that move, but even after that failed she's still trying to keep going. Thought Shirou.
She has a fighting spirit, if she could just build up her physical skills, perhaps. Thought Shirou as he stopped thinking mid sentence, making his decision as he would leave the room following the match.
Only to soon return with a well chosen task in mind.
Uraraka couldn't even get up anymore, her legs had given up on her from exhaustion and her upper body would soon follow.
No get up, i have to get up. Thought Uraraka.
She grunted and struggled to breathe when she moved.
She was trying so desperately to get up and keep fighting her opponent that only steps away, but her body couldn't do it.
She looked up at him, trying to keep consciousness as she thought to herself about the promise she made so many years ago.
Flashback
"I'll do it daddy, when I get big and strong just like you guys I'll help you as much as I can!" Yelled The little Uraraka as she cried, despite being a child all she wanted was to help her parents.
But the two smiled at their child, when the dad set his hand on the little girl's forehead and spoke, that's what set her goal.
"What we want more than anything is for you to be happy, we want you to achieve your own dreams and if you really want to help us you can always take us on vacation." Said her father.
Daddy…I'll…Be…a hero… Thought Uraraka as her mind and eyes turned dark soon after, Midnight approached halting Bakugo from any confrontation.
Midnight checked and examined Uraraka, realizing she was far from exhausted, she had passed out.
"Uraraka is KO'd, Bakugo advances into the second round!" Yelled Midnight
The robots were escorting Uraraka away.
"Take her to Recovery Girl." Said Midnight.
Bakugo walked away.
"AND THIS CONCLUDES THE FIRST ROUND!" Yelled Present Mic.
He turned away as so no one could hear him.
"I was really rooting for that poor girl, oh yeah i guess Bakugo did okay too." Said Present Mic as he waved his arm like he didn't care.
"Your supposed to be unbiased you know." Said Aizawa as he glared at him.
"LET'S TRY AND FORGET THAT DEPRESSING OUTCOME!" Yelled Present Mic.
"Or not." Said Aizawa as he let out a sigh.
"WITH THAT, THE FIRST ROUND IS COMPLETE, WE'RE TAKING A QUICK BREAK AND BE BACK WITH MORE MATCHES!" Yelled Present Mic.
"AND WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, HERE ARE OUR NEXT MATCHES!" Yelled Present Mic.
As the hologram pulled back up, revealing the starting brackets of each battle, with some interesting turnouts that could lead to unexpected challenges.
Bracket 1:
Izuku Midoriya vs. Shoto Todoroki
Bracket 2:
Will Vandom vs. Katsuki Bakugo
Bracket 3:
Inasa Yoarashi vs. Michiru Kagemori
Bracket 4:
Fumikage Tokoyami vs. Eijiro Kirishima
So i was right, i'm fighting Todoroki next, and he won't be as easy to beat as Shinso was. Thought Midoriya.
So i'm now up against Bakugo now? Thought Will.
She put her finger on her chin.
I'll have to be careful with him, he's proven not to be underestimated, but now i can get back at him for everything he's done, to Midoriya, Uraraka. Thought Will with a smirk.
"Oh boy, i get the guy with the Wind Quirk?" Asked Michiru in nervousness.
"I'm sure you'll do fine, my main concern is how i'm going to beat Kirishima, since the last we fought it was at a stalemate." Said Tokoyami.
Michiru nodded in agreement.
So i'm up against red hair this time, good, now i can beat her for everything she said and did to me and i'll show her no kindness like i did to gravity girl. Thought Bakugo with slasher smile on his face.
Will and Midoriya was walking their way towards the waiting room where she rested.
She tried her best, so hard with hopes of facing even Midoriya in the finals but she couldn't win.
He felt so guilty, and he couldn't imagine what she's feeling now after her recovery.
But his worries were shut away temporarily when he ran into a familiar but angry friend.
Midoriya yelped at the sight of Bakugo, taken off guard while already getting chills down his spine.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Asked Bakugo boldly, already exhibiting signs of annoyance towards Midoriya.
"Oh well um you see uh, my match is up next so I was heading to the waiting room so bye!" Said Midoriya as he awkwardly laughed, trying to get away from Bakugo until what he said stopped him in his tracks.
"You helped her, didn't you?" Asked Bakugo.
"That plan must've come from you if it was that annoying, I swear-" Said Bakugo before he was cut off.
"Just shut up you fake hero, i don't wanna hear another word out of your mouth until this festival is over and by the way, she was offered the opportunity to get help but she didn't, meaning that stunt she pulled out there was on her own." Said Will in anger over Bakugo brutality over Uraraka before walking away to meet with Uraraka.
Bakugo was in shock at what she said and then growled, scoffing at Will and turned the other way silently.
Midoriya sighed, feeling the heaviness in his body slip away while he continued to walk towards the waiting room.
Please be okay Uraraka, please be okay. Thought Midoriya to himself the moment they arrived in front of the room, but when he opened the door, they didn't expect to see their friend in the way they witnessed.
"Oh man I lost, that sucks, I was so close!" Yelled Uraraka with a smile on her face, rubbing her head.
Will and Midoriya was completely silent, the responses and expressions he anticipated weren't even there to begin with, Uraraka was herself.
"Guess i got carried away at the end, thinking i had it in the bag, dang it." Said Uraraka as she laughed.
"But, Uraraka, weren't you injured, are you okay?" Asked Midoriya, walking up to Uraraka.
How can she be so happy and energetic after that battle, by technicality she should have been scarred. Thought Will, not understanding her behavior.
"Of course, other than a couple scratches and bruises I'm doing better thanks to Recovery Girl!" Yelled Uraraka as she pointed to her bandage.
"Jeez I didn't realize how strong Bakugo was, he wiped the floor with me!" Yelled Uraraka as she clenched her fist.
"Now I realize just how much more training i have to do!" Yelled Uraraka.
When Uraraka looked up Midoriya had such a troubled look on his face he couldn't stop staring weirdly at her.
Will gave her a raised an eyebrow as she crossed her arms.
"Are you really sure you're okay?" Asked Midoriya in fear.
Uraraka gently smiled, looking down to see her phone was ringing by a familiar caller, holding her phone up to her chest.
"Yeah, to be honest I feel so much better after that match, i look forward towards the future, not the past." Said Uraraka.
Will was surprised, but she sighed in relief to hear she was okay after all.
He later heard the announcement that it was time for his match.
Now he would have to leave and head down for his match with Todoroki.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Deku, I hogged this room the whole time and didn't give you a chance to prepare!" Yelled Uraraka as she apologized, feeling guilty until Midoriya smiled and reassured her.
"Nah, this was perfect." Said Midoriya.
Uraraka smiled back, waving goodbye.
"I'll be watching, good luck out there." Said Uraraka.
Midoriya looked surprised before smiling and nodded.
"Thanks." Said Midroiya before leaving, closing the door behind him with Will behind him.
When they left Uraraka redialed the missed call she had.
It only took a few seconds for the phone to ring till it was answered.
"Hey daddy, sorry for not picking you earlier." Said Uraraka as she apologized, listening to her father respond on the other end of the call.
"No, no, it's fine honey, if I was disturbing you if you were just busy, sorry about that." Said her father.
"Your mom and I watched your match on tv, you almost won, that was incredible!" Yelled her father in joy.
When she answered back Uraraka's joyful voice Midoriya had heard moments before faded, she was hiding the disappointment in herself the whole time hoping not to worry him.
"It wasn't that close and i wasn't very good." Said Uraraka as her voice started to drop.
"I rushed things to much at the end and i have a backup plan." Said Uraraka as she clenched her fist into a ball.
"I…I Failed…" Said Uraraka as the heaviness in her body returned to her, she felt almost depressed over her loss.
And yet her father was still positive after it all.
"You lost but it doesn't mean you can't still be a Pro Hero." Said her father.
"I know i don't have the best understanding of how all this works but there's always next year right?" Asked her father.
"This is not the end for you." Said her father.
"I know but i just wish I was able to got further in the festival so i would I had more chances to show what i'm made of, the scouts didn't even saw me doing anything this time around." Said Uraraka as her voice was slowly breaking, her sadness only became more obvious on the phone when she finally admitted why she felt upset.
"What are you in such a hurry for?" Asked her father with a chuckle.
"It's just, i-i want to help you guys out as soon as I can." Said Uraraka as tears began to hit the table as she cried, no longer speaking as her father finished for her.
"Ochaco, there's no need for you to rush, the very fact that you feel that way which makes me think that you'll be a kind and caring hero one day." Said her father.
"I'm so proud of you." Said her father.
Uraraka's tears began to worsen like a waterfall, all she wanted was to help her parents but they were right, she had such a kind heart.
She wiped away the tears with her other arm, trying her best to stop crying and answered back on the phone.
"I love you daddy." Said Uraraka in a somber tone.
"I love you too Ochaco." Said her father calmly, he didn't know but she smiled on the other end of that call, still crying but she couldn't help it.
But when she heard the door open again behind her she couldn't help but feel embarrassed, with her face turning red.
"Ah Deku Im sorry I promise I'm fine I-" Said Uraraka as her face turned red face slowly turned back to normal color, seeing to her surprise Shirou and his wife Luna Ordeis there to greet her.
"Mr. and Mrs. Ogami, what are you doing here?" Asked Uraraka as she trying to wipe off the tears and calm herself down.
"I can talk to you later if this is a bad ti-" Said Shirou as he was about to leave before he immediately was cut off by Uraraka trying to keep him from leaving.
"No, it's ok, i'm alright I promise!" Yelled Uraraka.
She immediately hung up her phone, sending a text that she'll explain later after her talk.
Shirou looked at Uraraka clearly, even in his human form he could smell tears across her face, but it didn't take a genius to figure that out since she tried to cover it up the moment he came in.
"Your tears say otherwise." Said Luna as she pointed to her cheeks, she rubbed her cheek realizing she missed a tear and looked away in embarrassment, walking back to her chair.
"It's just, I was talking to my dad and I don't know, I just feel bad, even after what he told me I just wished I could do better and show more of what I could do." Said Uraraka.
Shirou pulled up a chair beside her while he listened with Luna behind him.
"But you did do your best didn't you?" Asked Shirou.
Uraraka looked up seeing Shirou's surprisingly calm but natural expression, answering back honestly while she looked down pressing her two fingers together repetitively.
"Well yeah but Bakugo was way too strong, there was a lot of stuff I could've done better, I doubt any of those pro heroes would scout me out." Said Uraraka as she looked away sadly.
"I wouldn't be sure, people were impressed by your determination, so i say you have a good chance of getting scouted." Said Luna.
"You sure of that?" Asked Uraraka as she looked back with hope.
"I wouldn't be here to begin with if that were the case." Shirou replied for Luna.
Uraraka gasped, looking up immediately in confusion.
"When I saw you compete, I saw a spark igniting a strong and powerful fire in your soul." Said Shirou.
"But once it's lit, that fire has to grow and be tended to otherwise it will die out." Said Shirou and his figurative but complementive expressions were touching, but somehow she couldn't help but feel like he was speaking of someone else.
"Wait, do you mean?" Asked Uraraka with hope
"After the festival, internships will soon begin, I want you to intern with me." Said Shirou in a blank voice.
Uraraka gasped as she was already on the verge of tears.
Shirou became startled immediately and grew worried.
Immediately tearing open the plastic bag that contained her spare shirt.
He wasn't the very best at this kind of teacher student relationships, but he was still learning it anyway.
"Shit I'm sorry don't cry, I didn't think this would happen." Said Shirou.
Luna let out a silent chuckle.
"Sensitivity's never been strong suit, has it?" Asked Luna.
Shirou gave Luna a glare before handing Uraraka her shirt, she wiped it with her face while taking in this processed information.
Shirou sighed in relief seeing her calm down, but her face looked troubled.
"You…really think I have potential?" Asked Uraraka with fear in her voice.
"I know you do, just like everyone else in your class, all you need is guidance." Said Shirou.
"I'll teach you what I know, how to fight, how to adapt, and many more things to come, that's if you want to intern with me, it's completely up to you." Said Shirou.
His offer was something Uraraka could use, but this was all so new to her, but she couldn't believe it.
And he was Michiru's care taker after all but he could teach her how to be better, and maybe what her dad said was really coming true after all.
She looked at her hands thinking about everything she promised herself, even to Midoriya and Will, she wanted to be stronger and learn how to be better so someday, she could help not just her parents but those around her.
This was her chance to take that step, no matter how hard it will be, tightening her hands into fists, she looked determined, looking directly at Shirou.
The sad crying girl that was there before was gone, as Uraraka wanted to move forward and focus on her goal.
"Mr. and Mrs. Ogami, I am honored to accept your offer!" Yelled Uraraka.
Shirou smiled, standing up and placing his hand on her shoulder.
"I'm glad kid, so keep in mind once the festival is over, you and your classmates will choose your internships." Said Shirou.
"I'll send you an offer, along with one more person in your class." Said Shirou as he continued down and reached for the doorknob.
"And it's Mrs. Ordeis, i never took his name." Said Luna with a smirk.
"I'll see you on the field soon Uraraka, and until then, Plus Ultra." Said Shirou as he smiled, looking back at Uraraka who gave a thumbs up, smiling back.
By the time he left the room he looked both ways down the hallway, he got chills saying those two words.
Luna let out a chuckle while covering her mouth.
"I cannot believe you said that, Shirou." Said Luna as she was struggling not to laugh out loud.
She's never gonna let me live this down. Thought Shirou as he walked down the hall with Luna behind him.
"By the way Shirou, who's the other classmate your gonna invite to the internships?" Asked Luna.
"It's the one who's close friends with Michiru, he has potential, but like Uraraka he mustn't rely on his quirk for everything." Said Shirou.
"I'll have to watch him once it comes his time at the festival." Said Shirou as Luna gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Meanwhile, back in the waiting room, Uraraka couldn't help but think to herself about one of the last few things Shirou had said to er.
But at the same time, she was excited for this, no, she felt ready for this.
Another classmate but who will I be interning alongside with? Thought Uraraka.
I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thought Uraraka as she was already getting goosebumps, the mood changed from depressing to as if it was her birthday, it was exciting to hear this offer from Shirou.
Should i tell my classmates about this? Asked Uraraka in her head.
She shook her head.
No i probably shouldn't, i'll wait until after the Sports Festival to reveal. Thought Uraraka.
She took the moment to breathe deeply like before, calming her excitement down until she remembered Midoriya's fight, looking back at the door.
She smiled to herself, her dad, Shirou and his wife, they were right, she lost but it doesn't mean she was out of the game yet.
"Don't worry Deku, I'll be just like you, I won't give up, and I'll keep fighting to get stronger just like you." Said Uraraka as she made her fist clench with determination.
Will already walked off the stands to join her classmates so Midoriya was alone when walking towards his next match.
Uraraka must be so upset, i thought i could help her in some way, but in the end i didn't do anything for her, instead she's cheering me on. Thought Midoriya.
He started to get upset over how he's being a useless friend as he remembered how Uraraka said she'll be cheering him on.
He began to wipe away his tears as he was crying.
She's the one encouraging me again. Thought Midoriya.
He pulled his arm away from his face and looked on ahead with determination.
However unknown to him that one of the Pro Hero's just came through a corridor around the same time he was.
Endeavor.
"Endeavor?!" Yelled Midoriya in fear.
Endeavor noticed Midoriya and turned around.
"Ah, i've been looking for you." Said Endeavor.
"O-Oh hi, s-so um, what are you doing back here?" Asked Midoriya as he stepped back in fear as Endeavor approached him as he was nervous as to what the Number 2 Hero could want with him.
Endeavor pointed towards Midoriya.
"I watched your against the brainwashing guy." Said Endeavor as he started.
"Your powers pretty impressive, to create so much wind pressure just by flicking your fingers." Said Endeavor.
"It reminds me of another Quirk, you seem to have much in common with All Might." Said Endeavor as he narrowed his eyes at Midoriya.
Midoriya got scared and looked away.
"Oh well i uh, i guess i never thought about it that way." Said Midoriya nervously.
"Sorry, but i should get going." Said Midoriya as he started walking towards his match.
Is it possible that Endeavor knows about One for All? Asked Midoriya in his head.
He shook his head.
No he would've mentioned it otherwise. Thought Midoriya as he looked back at Endeavor while still walking.
He's the one person i can't let find out about All Might's secret. Thought Midoriya as he looked away.
"It's my Shoto's duty to surpass that idiot and just recently that new bastard of a Pro Hero, Silver Wolf as the Number 1 Hero." Said Endeavor suddenly without even turning his head.
Midoriya stopped as he heard this.
"And his match with you will be a good testing ground for how much training he has left." Said Endeavor.
"So hit him hard." Said Endeavor.
"Don't disgrace yourself or him by holding back." Said Endeavor.
Midoriya then remembered his conversation with Todoroki, of why he refuses to use his right side.
"That's all i wanted to say, i apologize for bothering you." Said Endeavor as he started to walk away while Midoriya was frozen.
"Endeavor." Said Midoriya suddenly.
Endeavor stopped as Midoriya stopped talking.
"I am not All Might." Said Midoriya.
Endeavor turned around to look at Midoriya.
"And the same goes for Todoroki too." Said Midoriya as he turned his head to look back at Endeavor.
"He may be your son, but he isn't you." Said Midoriya.
They glare at each other for a few second before Midoriya walked away.
Everyone in the stalls were getting antsy about this match.
"So the match hasn't started yet?" Asked Uraraka as she finally came over to them.
Ida, Will, Tokoyami and Michiru looked and gasped to see her eyes puffy and red.
"Oh good." Said Uraraka.
"Something horrible happened to your eyes, you need to go see Recovery Girl!" Yelled Ida.
Uraraka began rubbing her eyes as she walked over to them.
"I already did, this is from something else." Said Uraraka as she sat down next to both Tokoyami and Ida.
"Ah of course." Said Ida.
"Oh Michiru, if you see Mr. Ogami, tell him i said thank you." Said Uraraka as she looked towards the two girls.
"Uh, okay i will." Said Michiru in confusion.
She looked at Will, who only shrugged in confusion.
"Well anyway Uraraka, if your still bummed about your match, just watch Midoriya's as a way to get inspiration." Said Tokoyami, his eyes not leaving the match.
"Got it." Said Uraraka as she nodded.
"Your so wise." Said Ida in shock.
Don't tell me that killed him? Asked Will as she noticed Ida was pale as a ghost.
The four corners of the match ring began to lit up at the same time, which got the crowd excited.
"THE TIME'S FINALLY ARRIVED Y'ALL, THE FIRST MATCH OF THE SECOND ROUND, FROM THE HERO COURSE OF CLASS 1-A, WHO WON BY A LANDSLIDE, AND THE SON OF THE NUMBER 2 HERO, SHOTO TODOROKI!" Yelled Present Mic as Todoroki walked up to the ring.
"AND THIS KID ALMOST WALKED OUT OF HIS MATCH UP BUT PULLED A STUNNING COMEBACK BY SHOWING US SOME IMPRESSIVE MOVES, ALSO FROM THE HERO COURSE OF CLASS 1-A, IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Yelled Present Mic.
The two heroes in training were glaring at each other.
"So here we are." Said Todoroki blankly.
"And only one of us can win." Said Midoriya.
Tokoyami, Michiru, Ida and Uraraka glanced at Will.
"Vandom, how do you think this match will turn out?" Asked Ida as he knew she knew Midoriya the longest, next the Bakugo of course.
"It'll depend on wherever Midoriya is able to get in close." Replied Will.
"Yeah, that's the problem." Said Michiru as the others looked back at the match.
"How's Deku going to avoid the ice?" Asked Uraraka.
Meanwhile in another location.
"Pay close attention, Tomura Shigaraki, these two could be formidable objects to one day, like those two girls from the U.S.J." Said a man's voice.
Shigaraki began scratching his neck while watching the match and let out a scoff.
"I'm not afraid of a few kids." Replied Shigaraki.
Midoriya's mother Inko, was crying her eyes out as their living room was filled with tissues.
Many Pro Heroes, including Shirou and Luna were watching this match, hoping to see how this plays out.
"Oh right, those two students tried to save you back at the U.S.J., didn't they?" Asked Thirteen, who was sitting next to All Might in his skeletal form.
"Yeah." Said All Might as he nodded his head.
"They may have more in common then they realize." Said All Might.
"They both have such an intense vibe around them." Said All Might.
Endeavor was watching from the sidelines.
"PREPARE FOR MIDORIYA VS. TODOROKI!" Yelled Present Mic as the two got into a fighting pose.
"Ready, BEGIN!" Yelled Midnight as she waved her flag.
A/N: Sorry this one took so long, i had a rough few months, working on new fanfictions, writing books so i can have a career and having my internet cut off for a week.
And that recent accusation of my "plagiarism" didn't help either.
