By the time they make it to the Curtis house, the lights were still on. Bexley didn't know it though; her mind was in a different space. She felt somebody touch her and she let out a scream and fought escape from the hand that touched her.
"Bexley, it's me!" Two-Bit exclaimed, reeling his hand back. She hurriedly turned her head around with her eyes popped out of her head, her mouth agap. "It's me," Two-Bit said softly.
She shakily sighed before turning back around, curling into a ball. "We're here," Two-Bit said, "You need help walking in?" She nodded, not saying a word.
From the porch, Sodapop had come running out of the screen door along with his other two brothers after hearing her scream. They watched as Two-Bit got Bexley out of the car, using his back to shut it.
"Oh god.. Soda gasped just as Two-Bit revealed just how bad she looked. Darny
jogged down the steps with Soda going down a step. Ponyboy covered his mouth, his eyes widening in horror.
"Here, let me have her." Darry said tearfully. Two-Bit carefully handed the youngest Curtis over to the eldest Curtis. At first, Bexley didn't recognize her big brother, and placed her hands against Darry's muscular chest.
She began fighting him to get loose while sobbing hysterically. "Sshh... it's mne, hon... it's alright," Darry said in a comforting voice, which was rare for him. He wasn't ever like this with either her or Ponyboy.
However, Bexley registered his voice and started sobbing, grabbing his black t-shirt
tightly. She buried her face in his shirt as she cried her heart out. "Go on home, Two. We'll take it from here. Thanks for finding her," Darry said, looking up at him.
"You're welcome. I'll see you guys tomorrow," the rusty-haired greaser said, giving a gentle rub to Bexley's head. This time, she didn't freak out. Afterward, he left the Curtis Residence.
Darry carries Bexley inside the house with Soda and Ponyboy behind him. Darry sat down on the couch with Bexley in his arms, who was still crying her eyes out. Soda and Ponyboy didn't hesitate to join him.
"What happened to her?" Ponyboy asked, tears filling his eyes. "Those socs got ahold of her again. Let's take care of her before we talk more of this," Darry answered, holding her close to him so she could get all of her tears.Darry picked her up and carried her into her room that she shared with Soda and Pony and laid her down in her own bed, covering her up. She felt her lower body throbbing as well as her head. She was pretty sure that she had a concussion.
After pretending to be asleep, she heard her brother's walking out of the room. They didn't shut the door on the way out. That was fine with her'since she didn't want to talk to anybody right now. Soon enough, she ended up falling asleep into a fitful sleep.
Sorry this chapter is so short.
