Getting lost in your head can be dangerous.
Take Care Where You Wander
"Kagome?"
Tired eyes blink slowly and she rubs at one while looking up to see Cerlia standing over her. "Sorry, did someone need me?" She goes to get up but a hand stops her, gently keeping her where she sits. "Hm?"
"Everyone's stable, you're fine," Cerlia says with a tired smile. "I ask because you've been staring at the wall for a good few minutes, without blinking."
"Oh," Shrugging a little helplessly, she says, "just really tired, is all. It's so quiet right now."
When the last of the cannons stopped firing, Kagome remembered waiting to hear more for hours afterwards. At some point, a ringing had started in her ears and there's still a bit of it lingering even now but no one else has mentioned anything so neither has she.
"I understand, I really really do, but," Kagome tilts her head up at Cerlia as she continues speaking, "if you ever feel like you're a little stuck in your head, come talk to me. It would be best if we didn't…"
Didn't have another mental breakdown like with Prince Dimitri, is what Cerlia hesitates to say.
The silence stretches awkwardly for a second before Kagome smiles stiltedly and pats her hand. "I will, promise."
"Good, now come inside. Food's ready."
End.
As always, if you see any mistakes let me know. Hope you enjoyed!
