Hey, y'all! Here's chapter fifteen!
Last chapter Marla was kidnapped and everyone is working on trying to find her before it's too late.
I do not own CW's Flash or any character or places mentioned.
Chapter Fifteen
Send in the Troops
Barry
After I dropped off Cisco, I ran Snart to Star City, stopping just before we got close to Oliver's base.
"What are you doing? Get me to the Arrow!" Snart demanded.
"I can't just bring you into his base!"
"For God's sake, Scarlet, I know that Queen is the Arrow! Take me to him now!"
I was at war with myself on what to do until a thought hit me harder than it did before. Marla had been missing for fourteen hours. I couldn't protect her. If something happened-
I couldn't bring myself to finish that thought, so I just nodded to Snart and ran into the Arrowcave.
"Barry!" Felicity shrieked before hugging me tightly, "Iris said that you were missing. Are you okay?"
"For now." I gulped when I realized that Oliver was going to kill me.
"What the hell is going on, Barry?" He asked.
"Good question, Mister Queen." Snart strolled up to where Felicity and I were, "Miss Smoak, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. Thank you for figuring out the bullet."
"Barry!" Oliver roared, "What is he doing here?!"
"I didn't have time to call ahead!"
"Quite frankly, we don't have time for this!" Snart approached Oliver, "Tell me everything you know about the Dubháin Crime Family."
"No offense, but why should we tell you anything?" Dig said, crossing his arms behind Oliver.
"Because, Mister Diggle, Marla's missing. Odds are that whoever was trying to kill her is behind it." Snart stated, "Now, tell me what you know."
"Why don't you leave this to the police? This is kinda their job." Felicity looked back and forth between me and Snart.
I groaned, "Because there's not enough time!" I shouted, causing her to take a few steps back. I walked up to the railing and slumped forward against it, "She's been gone for fourteen hours. Please, Oliver, help us find her."
Oliver sighed, "Not until you explain to me why it's weighing so harshly on you. I get that you feel somewhat responsible given that it's your city but-"
I interrupted him with a shake of my head, "If something happens to her, that's on me. I was the last one with her last night. They were in her apartment, waiting for her, and I couldn't protect her. I'm the fastest man alive, but they still managed to knock me out. The hell kind of hero am I if I can't protect someone standing right next to me?!"
Felicity placed a comforting hand on my shoulder, "We'll help you find her." She looked back at Snart, "Both of you."
Snart nodded, eyes downcast, "Thank you."
Marla
I grimaced as the man in front of me gripped my chin, turning my head left and right, "I can see why Snart keeps you around. Even with the messed-up eye, any man can see how pretty you are."
I practically ripped my face away from him, "Don't touch me, you ass."
He smirked, "Is that why he keeps you around, Marla? Are you just a pretty little thing to keep his bed warm while he's out playing gangster."
"You have no idea what you're talking about."
He scoffed, "Whatever he's paying you, I could give you double that." He leaned in close, "How does that sound?"
I spat in his face as a response, causing him to backhand me again.
"Little bitch." He regained his composure, "If not his whore, then what are you to him, hmm?"
"I'm just one of his Rogues."
He tsked, "See, I have a hard time believing you. Especially when he puts a protection detail on you." I gulped when he pulled out a knife, "Let's try this again, shall we?"
"I… I swear! I'm just a Rogue! I… I… I don't know why he cares so much about what happens to me."
He sighed, "Wrong answer." I sucked in my yelp as he cut across my thigh, deep enough to warrant stitches, but not deep enough for me to bleed out instantly.
Barry
Snart and I left Star City after we got Oliver on board with helping us. I dropped him off in my lab at CCPD.
"Stay here, all right? I'm going to get Singh to get him on board. Felicity's right, the cops should be involved."
"I think you forget, Scarlet, I'm wanted by the police, regardless of you erasing my criminal history."
"I'm 95% sure that Singh knows I'm the Flash, I'll explain the situation and hope that he helps us."
Snart was silent for a moment before he sighed, "All right." He pointed at me accusingly, "If we save her only for her to get arrested for being Siren, I'll reveal just what you're hiding, Flash."
I rolled my eyes, "Whatever. I'll be right back, just duck out of sight if you're worried about being caught."
I walked downstairs and up to Singh's office when I got caught by Joe.
"Barry!" He pulled me into a tight hug, "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I'm fine, Joe, seriously. But, right now, Marla's not." I pushed past him into Singh's office, "Captain, I need to talk to you about something?"
"Does it have anything to do with you being here on your day off?"
"Actually, yes."
I watched as his eyes grew concerned when he saw just how serious I was as I sat down, "What's going on, Allen?"
I thought about how to phrase my question properly, "Do you know about my… second job?"
He raised an eyebrow, "You mean, what you do out of S.T.A.R. Labs…" he lowered his voice, "Flash?" He cleared his throat.
"Yeah! That!" I cleared my throat, "So, it's kind of a long story, but long story short, Leonard Snart found out and he cut a deal with me that I wouldn't put him in prison if he didn't hurt or kill anyone and, in exchange, he wouldn't tell anyone my secret."
"What does that have to do with you being here?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat, "That new bank-robbing meta, Siren? She, uh, she was recruited by Snart for his Rogue's and she has the same deal."
Singh sat up straighter, "Does she know?"
I nodded, "She figured it out on her own." I rubbed my face, "Here's the thing, when she became a Rogue, she became a target for the Dubháin Crime Family, to the point where someone put a hit on her. Now, she's missing."
"So you want the help of the CCPD." Singh stated.
I nodded, "I've already got the Arrow and his team working on it too since the Dubháin's typically operate out of Star City. Maybe, if it gets to the point of necessity, we get the SCPD involved. But, for right now, I need your help."
Captain Singh was quiet, absorbing all of this information, "I want to talk to Snart."
I smiled sheepishly, "Perfect, he's in my lab."
Singh's face dropped, "You brought him here?!"
I raised my hands in peace, "The only thing he cares about right now, the only thing, is getting her back. Seriously, it may not seem like it on the outside, but he's a wreck right now."
He sighed, "All right." We walked up to my lab, followed closely by Joe and Cisco, who Captain Singh then asked, "Did you two know about this Snart deal? And then again with Siren?"
Joe nodded, "Yeah, we did. But, I've met the kid, David, she's a good one. She's just in a situation in which she thought she had no other option."
We walked into my lab where Snart was perched on my desk, "Hello, Captain, Ramon, Detective."
I scoffed, "Thought you didn't want to get caught?"
He shrugged, "What are they going to do? Arrest me?"
Singh sighed, "Look, Snart, I want to help you find your Rogue, I do. But, first, I need to know why the hell she became a target for abduction."
Snart took the messed up Rubix cube off my desk and began fixing it, "I took down the Santini Crime Family and took over their areas. The Dubháin's feel like they should have that, not me. Because they couldn't go after me, they went after her. Odds are they didn't go after the others because they are known metas, they didn't realize she was Siren. After the failed hit, I put Barry and the other Rogues on as her protection detail of sorts. I may have drawn more attention to her by doing that, making them think that she's extremely important to me." He put down the, now completed, cube.
"Is she?" Joe asked.
Snart was quiet, so I decided to share what I knew, "You did say that she reminds you of Lisa. And, to be honest, I don't know anyone more important to you than your sister."
I saw Captain Singh's shoulders drop slightly, "Get me a picture of this girl, enough to be passed around the precinct."
After doing as he asked, he called a meeting of the detectives.
"All right, listen up." Singh stood in his office, "Allen and Ramon are handing out photos of a missing person. Her name is Marla McKinnon, age 25, 5'3", and last seen wearing jeans, brown boots, and a green blouse. As of now, she has been missing for fifteen hours. It is believed that a friend of hers has some kind of connection to the Dubháin Crime Family and it is also believed that they are using Miss McKinnon as a way to get to this friend."
"What makes you think there's a connection?" Patterson asked.
"Because I have been informed that there was already an attempt on this girl's life. As I said, she has been missing for fifteen hours. I will also be contacting the SCPD as the Dubháin Crime Family typically operates out of Star City. Let's get to work." As the crowd dispersed, Singh placed a hand on my shoulder, "We'll find her, Barry."
I nodded unconvincingly, "I know, it's just a matter of when."
Okay! Oliver and Team Arrow are on the case as well as the CCPD. Next chapter there will be more Barry guilt and Mark Mardon will make another appearance! Here's a sneak peek into chapter sixteen.
"Allen's a CSI with the CCPD." I gave Hartley a bewildered look and he shrugged, "Not my problem."
"So you're a badge?" Mardon growled, gathering the hail once again, "What? Were you just hanging out with her to get us?!"
I shook my head, "No! I was there because I wanted to be there! I wanted to help in whatever way I could!"
Mardon was about to throw the basketball-sized hail when the sound of the Cold gun powering up entered the room.
"That's enough, Mardon! Put the hail down or I'll put you down." Snart warned.
As always, reviews are welcome and constructive criticism is appreciated.
See you next time!
