Chapter 7- The Reunion

A/N: As promised!

Happy Reading!

Mellie was livid after receiving a phone from her father in regard to Sam being discovered. Mellie

needed to do something. She needed to get what she wanted. She needed get ahead of this divorce. She snatches up her purse and keys and makes her way to the media headquarters.

Once she arrives, she heads straight for Ashley Peterson's office. Without knocking she walks right in. Ashley looks up. "Mrs. Grant? What brings you here?" Her puzzled look doesn't go unnoticed by Mellie.

"Well, I have an exclusive I like only you to report."

Ashley readjusts herself in her seat. "An exclusive huh, I'm listening."

Mellie begins to rundown her version of events. How she felt Fitz was cheating on her and left her and his newborn son for his mistress. How he just up and left only hours after she delivered their child, soon after filing for a divorce leaving her and their child with nothing but a house and car. How he abandoned her and their son without an explanation or so much as a goodbye. How she had to lean on the help of others to deal with the stress of it all, and how he had forced her hand to expose him and the Grant family. She was sure to leave out the fact Teddy was not Fitz's child, and her infidelity.

Ashley was eating it up. She took notes and wrote down everything word for word. This would be big. This would be her big story of the year. She was elated from just the thought. What she and Mellie didn't know was that Kimberly Mitchell had overheard the entire conversation, and to be quit frank, it didn't sit well with her. The Grant family were good people. Governor Grant was a legion and a good man. She heard stories of his only son Fitzgerald and word around town was that he may even tip his hat in the political ring. Now if that was true why would he leave his wife and child?

Had it not been for Governor Grant she would not be where she was today. She was doing a story on him when he opened the Grant Suites there in Washington and how he donated the first years proceeds to college funds for all the employees that were in or went to college and got a degree. She was impressed. That was a big story, and he asks her to keep him in the loop on the graduates. She did, and he gave her all the exclusives that came down the pipeline in Washington. Which boosted her career and made her one of the many #1 reporters nationwide.

Seeing that her office was right next to Ashley's she was able to hear everything while standing jus outside of her door pretending to be looking through some paperwork. "Well Ashly what do you think? Will you have a sit down with me?"

Ashley smiles as she thinks to herself this is big. "Yes Mrs. Grant I will have a sit-down interview with you this Friday. I have a little family trip planned with my husband this week, but I promise I will be working on this. I want to prep you for the question's so say we meet over lunch at Michell's Place at noon Friday?"

"Perfect." Mellie answers standing from her seat handing Ashley her contact information before leaving. Kimberly quickly backs into her office and watches Mellie as she departs. She closes her door and makes a phone call.

….

Gerry was having lunch with his wife when his phone rang. He sees the number and smiles. "Excuse me dear, this is Kimberly Mitchell calling. I think I should take this." Mrs. Grant nods and continues eating. "Hello Kimberly, I'm having lunch with my beautiful wife so make this quick."

"Hi Gerry, your daughter-in-law just left a meeting with Ashley Peterson. I think you may want to know what they spoke about." It was more of a statement than question

Gerry looked at his wife as his expression turned serious…she noticed and stop eating. "Okay. You've got my attention."

Kimberly begins explaining what she overheard ending her revelation with a question "So, my question to you is-how can I help. I'm not sure your son knows what's she up to but I'm here for you if you need me."

"Well Kimberly let me start by saying, that baby she had is not my sons, and she is trying to extort money from him using that beautiful brown baby as leverage. She has been having an affair with a man she works with and he is indeed the father of the child. Not only is another man the father but the baby is half African American. As you can imagine this left my son broken. He was left with no choice but to leave. He may be a good man but he's no fool."

Kimberly is shocked but happy she went with her gut. She knew there was more to this story. She offers her advice. "Gerry, I think you and your son need to get ahead of this. She's about to start a scandal that could really hurt the Grant name and brand."

"I'm already ahead of you Kimberly. I know the perfect person to call. She has become a big dog here in Washington. Her name is ringing in all the political circuits. She just got President Reston out of a jam."

"Ahh, you're talking about Olivia Pope-King."

"Yeah, but I think she just goes by Pope in certain circles. She will correct you every time if you call her that. I hear she's a beast and can fix anything for anyone."

"Yes, word is she's the best in DC."

"Thank you, Kimberly, for contacting me about this. I am forever grateful and if a story comes out of this, you will be my first call." The call ends and Gerry turns back to his wife. "That huzzy is at it again. She has planned a sit down with a reporter to put our son in a bad light."

Anna looks at Gerry "Humf, she'll never get away with it."

"No dear she won't." He taps his phone and calls his son.

Fitz answers "Hey dad, I thought you were taking mom out why are you calling me. You only left a little bit ago. Is mom okay?"

Gerry places the phone next to Anna. "Say hi to your son dear so he can stop worrying."

"Hi son I love baby,"

"I love you too mom." Gerry continues his reason for calling. "We have a problem son, that hussy of a wife of yours is planning a sit down with the DC times to spread her version of events and we need to get ahead of this."

"Oh really? What do you have in mind?" Fitz questions knowing his dad is already ten steps ahead.

"You need a fixer. Someone who specializes in media scandals…"

His mom pipes in "Her names is Olivia Pope dear. She's a DC fixer."

Gerry smiles at his wife's eagerness "Yes son what you mother said. She has a firm on K-street. She's the best in DC."

Fitz sits forward in his seat. Could this be the same Olivia he had fallen in love with? What are the chances. "Would she happen to be the same Olivia Pope as in Pope-King?"

"Yes that's her. She goes by Pope in the political circles. She's made a serious name for herself her in DC. Her name is traveling quickly to other cities. She's the best son. I think you should take that thumb drive with you when you go see her and you need to do it today."

"Dad if she's so high profile wouldn't I need an appointment?"

"Son our name alone will get you in without one. Just go."

"Okay dad I'm on it…and dad?"

"Yeah son."

"Thanks. For everything."

"You're my son no need to thank me. Just do what's necessary to stop that hussy. She needs to feel the pain she's caused all of us. We were so excited to become grandparents and that bitch ruined everything."

"Don't worry dad, I'll make her pay and one day give you and mom a lot of grandkids. I have my eye on someone very special. I just need to see if she feels the same way, in which I'm sure she does."

"Let's get rid of all things Mellie first. We don't need her ruining your future relationships before they can get started but we do look forward to meeting this young lady one day if things work out. I'm sure it will if she's already special. With the Grant charm you can't lose son. Just don't make the same mistakes I did. Had your mother not forgiven me I'd be lost right now without her."

"I hear you dad. I'll call you later and update you. Bye dad."

"Bye son."

….

Max is beyond himself without Liv. Not enough to leave Angela though. He wanted both his women and needed Olivia to get on board. Angela already knew her place and played her part. As long as she doesn't know Liv knows about her, she will continue to do as he wants. He just needed to get Liv on the same page. He needed to get her to trust him again. Looking at the divorce papers he finds the perfect reason to pay her a visit at her office.

…...

Fitz is a nervous wreck as he pulls up in front of Oliva's firm. He is also excited. He would see her today. Would she be as glad to see him as he would her? He was sure she was still beautiful. Marriage be damn. He needed her in his life. Max didn't appreciate or treat her the way she deserved. If she used her maidan name for business, then things were not as good as they appeared with her marriage…at lest that's what Fitz told himself. He took a deep breath to calm himself down before exiting his car and heading inside.

….

Olivia was sitting at her desk going over some of the cases to ensure payment was made. She was dressed in a soft cotton red dress that hugged her figure showing her now present baby bump. She was over the moon to be pregnant and had no problem showing it. To finally see a baby bump made her giddy. She loved everything about being pregnant. She couldn't wait to meet the beautiful life she and Fitz created together. She even still was able to wear hills. Her hair was so thick and long, as it draped around her oval now full face. He wavey curls bounce with each movement.

She hated that she had to keep Fitz's identity a secret, but until her divorce was final it had to be this way. She only hoped Max would not contest the divorce. She didn't ask for anything from him. She just wanted to be free of him and his name. She needed to cut off all ties with him so that she and Fitz could leave any chance of drama behind. He had enough drama in his life.

She understood what they did was wrong and had resulted in her getting pregnant. She just couldn't handle Max finding out right now. He would turn it into a weapon to degrade her even more with. He would use it to destroy her and her name she had created for herself. It would definitely give him something to gloat about and make her look like the bad guy even though he has a long-term relationship with another woman that produced a child. He'd still find a way to make her infidelity look worse than his. She only cheated once, but he had a whole other family for over two years maybe more and would somehow turn her onetime affair into the biggest deception in the world. That's the mind set of a narcissist and Max's personality was the true definition of the word. If only she had seen it before marrying him.

Liv team consisted of all men, Jay Paris, Stephen Finch, Harrison Wright, and Diego Munoz aka Huck. She was in the process of looking to hire two more people on the team preferably women to balance out the testosterone. It all depended on their interview.

Things had been winding down for the day. It was almost 2 o'clock pm when the elevator dings. Jay was actually on his way out and standing waiting for it to arrive. As the doors slid open, he looked up in total surprise. "Mr. Fitzgerald Grant."

Fitz steps off the elevator "Yes that's me. I recognize you as well, but I'm here on business. Is Mrs. Pope available. I have a time sensitive matter and need her help." Jay was aware of Fitz personal situation and figure it had something to do with that. He was also thankful that the universe was working on his and Liv's behalf. Now there was no need for him to push things along in helping Fitz find out about Liv's pregnancy-nope the universe just did that for him. "Well today is your lucky day Mr. Grant. "

"Fitz. Please call me Fitz." Placing his hands in his pockets as his stomach does summersaults at the thought of just seeing her.

"Okay Fitz right this way." Jay turns and walks back into the conference area as the other men watch. "Please give me a moment Fitz." He knocks and opens Liv's door as she sits behind her desk still looking over the cases. "Ah Liv, you have a client."

Olivia looks up "No jay, I'm done for the day. Take down the information and well get back with them tomorrow." She states

"Liv? I think you want to see this client." Jay turns and motions for Fitz to come forward. He does and walks into Olivia's office with a smile. "Hi."

Liv eyes immediately widen with surprise "H..,Hi."

Jay pulls the door shut and turns to the rest of the crew. "Nobody enters that office unless Liv calls for you. Understood?"

Everyone nonchalantly agrees and continue doing what they were doing. Jay decides to stay and see how things go and heads for his office which connects with Liv and waits. Withing minutes everyone is inside of their offices as well.

Liv still sitting behind her desk not yet ready to reveal her secret begins to somewhat tremble. She's not sure if it her stomach muscles or the baby but she becomes a nervous wreck inside. "Fitz…What are you doing here?"

Fitz loses his smile and takes a seat on her sofa across the room. He to is nervous and needed to calm himself down. He decided to just be himself and not try to hide behind his fears. "I need your help. I hear you're the best fixer in DC. A big dog sort to speak who's really made a name for one's self. It's my soon to be ex-wife. She's trying to blackmail me and is planning a sit down with a major media outlet this Friday here in DC to dishonor my name. Can you help me?' His smile returns

Liv smiles a soft smile "So she's fighting the divorce?"

"Yes, unless I give her 10 million two cars, two of my homes and a trust fund for a child of another man, but I'm not willing to do that. Can you make sure I don't have to do that, Olivia?"

"Nothings impossible." Liv answers as she watches Fitz stand and walk towards her. She leans forward to hide her bump crossing her fingers together leaning on her elbows.

"I think this will help. Just take a look at it and you'll understand." He stretches out his hand now standing in front of her desk. Oh, how he wanted to kiss her. She separates her hands and grips the thumb drive when their fingers touch. They both become stuck in the moment. The fire is back, the feeling is back, the desire is back and it's overwhelming to them both. Just as Liv is about to speak a small commotion is heard outside her door. It's Max.

She looks up and sees Max trying to push his way past Jay and Stephen. She can't make out what they are saying and without thinking she leaps from her seat and walk out into the conference area. Fitz was looking back when she stood and still had not yet seen her stomach and was concentrating on Max instead.

"Max what are you doing here." She questions once she opens her office door.

"I just need a minute Liv. I brought the divorce pap…." He pauses when he sees her stomach. "Liv you're pregnant?" He half asks half states. Liv looks down at her stomach nervously running her hand through her hair before crossing her arms over her chest.
