Secrets Chapter 23- Baby…Maybe?

A/N: Hi everyone. Here's another chapter. Things are heating up. You will probably be shocked and somewhat pissed off at me with this chapter. Then again, maybe not. You all are used to my type of writing. For those who are not, well get ready I'm about to take you for a ride over the next couple of chapters starting with this one. I feel awesome to be back on FB. I hope these new rules don't infringe on us writers. We post a lot of OLITZ pics, Tony G. pics, and KW pics. We share information in the writer's group etc. Well, we'll have to wait and see. Let's get back to the story.

Happy Reading!

Abby and Liv continued to talk late into the evening when Fitz returned home with the twins. As he makes his way over to the couch where Liv and Abby were seated; he smiled. He was truly happy to see Abby back on her feet and feeling better, not to mention seeing his Livvie happily enjoying herself once again with her best friend.

Leaning down after placing both babies down in front of their mother before placing a kiss upon her lips. "Hey baby, Hi Abby looks like you're feeling better."

"Yes, I am, and now I get to meet these two beauties."

Standing back to his straitened height "I'm take a quick shower baby."

"Okay love. I'll get these two settled. Dinner is in the microwave."

"Cool." He states turning to Abby "Abby don't be kissing on my babies. I know this is your first time meeting them but, keep your lips off."

Abby laughs "Shut up Fitz, I can kiss them if I want to."

He playfully reaches for the twin's carriers "I'm taking my babies with me. Nope. See, now you have to wait to meet them."

"Stop it you two. Hand kisses will be allowed only." Liv comments knowing that her husband was being playful but meant every word as she lifts Elijah from his seat before doing the same with Miya. Satisfied Fitz makes his way upstairs to shower.

"Wow Liv, I can't believe you had twins. Can I please hold them? I promise I won't kiss'em."

Liv chuckles "Yeah of course, come sit next to me." Abby does and she hands her Elijah first "Abby, meet our little king, Elijah Fitzgerald Grant." Abby holds her arms in a cradling position and Liv places Elijah in her arms "Hi Elijah. Oh my god Liv he is so handsome. He looks like a mini-Fitz."

"Thanks Abs." She answers as she places Miya in the other arm "And this little ray of sunshine is Miya Anna Rose Grant."

"Hi little Ms. Miya. Liv she is such a beautiful baby girl. My goodness, look at those eyes. Both of them have big, beautiful eyes like you but deep set like Fitz."

"Yeah, I know. They were both born with blueish tented eyes, Eli's just got bluer and Miya well as you can see have turned greyish blue. Weird right?"

"Girl if I didn't know any better, I'd say you had a baby by both your ex and your current. Not only do Miya look like Max but she has his eye color. You must have had Max and Fitz on the brain." She spirts out without thinking

"What?! Abby! How could you say something like that?" Liv angrily states as she removes her children from Abby

"What? Oh shit! Liv I'm sorry I didn't mean any harm. I was…I just meant…Sorry I spoke without thinking."

Liv places her children back in their carriers "That's just it, Abby, you never think before you speak. You should be more concerned with whether or not you're carrying your ex-husband's baby, instead of bringing up my ex-husband."

"Liv, I swear I'm sorry. Please forgive me, they're both beautiful children. I didn't mean to insinuate otherwise."

"Forget it, Abby. I need to give them their bath. Jay brought your things from the hotel. They're in the closet. I'll see you in the morning." Liv walks away taking her children with her leaving Abby filled with regret and uncertainty

Liv would never admit it to herself or anyone else that there was some truth in Abby's statement. Yes, she noticed over the 3/12 weeks of her children's lives that her daughter indeed did have a strong resemblance to her ex-husband, but did Abby have to say the quiet part out load.

Max was indeed heavy on Olivia's mind during her pregnancy with all the hell he put her through. She had no control over who her children looked like. Her love for them both was beyond anything she ever felt, and the same went for their father…Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III. She pushed the thought out of her mind and focused on her babies and her husband.

….

The next two weeks was busy for everyone. Fitz was the most stressed he'd ever been in his entire life. After looking into Cyrus Beene, he found that he was representing Max in a wrongful conviction case against him and charging him with a federal crime, when it was clearly a simple assault charge. He was accusing Fitz's firm of a bias and misrepresentation of the courts. Stating Fitz used his family ties to insure a speedy conviction of his client. He was also accusing him of sleeping with and impregnating his client before and during the trial, siting he should have recused himself from the case for this reason because this was a clear violation of the code of ethics. Fitz was possibly facing disbarment and severe fines to his law office. He was to prove his defense he would also have to provide a DNA sample of himself and the twins to not only prove paternity, but prove what Cyrus was claiming whether or not Cyrus's claim was true.

Fitz greatest fear was now a possibility. Could his children not be his children biologically? He also noticed but never voice his daughter's resemblance to Max, but he too brushed it off, because Miya was his daughter just as Elijah was his son. He figured with all the shit that Max had put them through was the reason for this. He remembered always hearing older people say, if you hated a person during a pregnancy your child will end of looking like that person. In his mind this is why his daughter shared a resemblance.

Liv was also consumed with worry after receiving a phone call from Fitz firm that Angela was wishing to speak with her only to find out that Angela claimed to truly be pregnant and Max according to her was indeed the father. Liv didn't know whether or not to believe her, because that meant he just may be the father to her twins as well. She was so confused right now because each twin resembled one or the other men past and present in her life. Maybe what Abby stated was true. She could only pray that the results were in her and Fitz's favor.

Another reason for this prayer was because since Fitz shared with her what Cyrus and Max were up to, she couldn't get what Abby said off of her mind and began to google questions concerning conception of twins. She learned something that made her damn near shit her pants. After typing in the question Can twins be conceived by two different fathers? The answer was Yes. She continues reading the explanation for this phenomenon and it read Fraternal twins are the result of hyperovulation, the release of multiple eggs in a single cycle. Superfecundation describes a situation in which each of the eggs are fertilized by sperm from different men, leading them to have different biological fathers (making the twins half-siblings). The appropriate term to describe this situation is heteropaternal superfecundation.

Of course, it said much more breaking the possibility down with such simplicity even a 3rd grader could comprehend. As she thought back to when she and Fitz came together for the first time, she also remembers that earlier that morning she was also with Max. Could the reproductive doctor have been wrong? Was there a chance Max fathered one or both of her twins? She knew now there was a slight possibility. She was conflicted on whether or not to share her findings with Fitz. She quickly decided she would because the courts where now requesting DNA testing of their twins. They both needed to be prepared for whatever the results revealed.

Because Cyrus was naming both Fitz and Liv in his case, OPA with both of their consent could represent her and Fitz. Liv had thought it over long and hard before deciding to speak with Fitz about this because she would need Abby back on the team. Abby may have been a bad friend, but she was an excellent lawyer. With Abby leading their defense and Fitz law firm collaborating on the case, she was sure they could get Fitz out of this predicament even if her husband was not so sure.

After putting the twins down for a nap, she made her way into Fitz's home office. He looks up and smile after setting eyes on her. "Hi."

"Hi." She answers walking around his desk planting herself on his lap "Can we talk?" She questions

"Sure love." He decides to pull her leg over his lap after moving his computer and papers further onto the desk. "What's on your beautiful mind?"

She inhales a deep breath before beginning "You know I love you right?" He raises a brow to her question but nods "I want to show you something." She turns and changes her position on his lap pulling his computer towards her. After retyping what she had been researching she showed it to Fitz. He slowly began to read the information and without even finishing the entire article he rubs his hand over his face as he slowly throws his head back against his leather chair.

"I never told you this but, when we met that morning, I was also with Max hours prior." She whispers dropping her eyes in shame "I don't know if you've ever really took a good look at our da…"

"I have." Cutting her off "I figured the old saying was true about hating someone so much, blah, blah, blah."

"I'm scared babe." She pauses "What if…" He cuts her off again "It doesn't matter…she's, our daughter."

"What if, DNA shows she's his and he gets out and tries to gain some sort of custody?"

Fitz pulls her back around, so she is facing him after placing the laptop back on the desk "I don't care about DNA. Our babies are our babies and nothing and no one can change that. We are married, the law is in favor of the husband not the biological. Legally the twins are my children. He will have a hell of a fight on his hands to gain anything concerning our children. I will do whatever it takes to keep my family safe and in tacked. I promise you Livvie."

"Well, I was thinking of bringing Abby back on as lead. She's a damn good lawyer. I taught her everything she knows. With her leading our defense and your firm consulting we can beat this. We can beat Cyrus."

"Okay. If you trust Abby, just do me a favor?"

"Sure, what?"

"Have someone keep an eye on her. I know you want to believe she's truly sorry, and I do as well, but we can't trust her past behaviors. The first sign of betrayal she's gone out of our lives for good."

"Consider it handled."

He smirks "I've heard that before Livvie, promise me she will be gone for good if she fucks this up. This is our family were talking about here."

"Oh, I promise baby. If she crosses us again, she will be handled." She stops and looks him directly in the eyes "Permanently!" She emphasizes with a look of seriousness "I too will do whatever it takes to protect our family." Fitz nods at her declaration

"So, we're in this together?" He asked with the same seriousness

"We're in this together."

"Even if I have to kill someone to protect us?" He presses with a look in his eyes she's never seen before

She doesn't blink nor hesitate before responding "Even if we have to kill someone to protect us." She answers before attacking his mouth with her own before making her way to Abby's room to speak with her

…..

Abby agreed to come back to OPA and be first chair. This was her chance to prove to Liv and Fitz that she was on their team. She meant it when she apologized. She was giving another chance to prove her loyalty to them and also pay Liv back for saving her life. It would never be enough, but it would be something. She pushed her concerns for herself on the back burner and pressed forward.

Abby hit the ground running once Liv informed the team that she was back. Jay would be second chair. This made Jay happy. It was easier to keep an eye on her even though Huck was doing the same but from a distance. She wasted no time collecting evidence to debunk Cyrus accusations. She also had no problem playing dirty. She always had a team member with her at all times per Liv and Fitz's request. Tom put two security men on her as well. She was to use them to drive her around at all times per Fitz's request.

She found that Cyrus was a dirty lawyer with a grip with the Grants. He hated Gerry even more than he hated Fitz. Gerry was able to monopolize off of his political career and Cyrus was always two steps behind. Then when Fitz stepped into his career, Cyrus became a nobody, a has been, an unworthy opponent. She was able to get the recorded phone call of Cyrus calling the prison offering payment to a prison employee to be put on Maxwell's visitors list and to pass along his contact information so he and Max could chat. It amazed Jay how a little flirting from a redhead could turn a man into puddy. She learned that this is how he became Max's lawyer.

Tom was not willing to take any chances with the courts. He needed all of this to go away. While everyone ran around like chickens with their heads chopped off. He was making his own plans. He just needed to decide who needed to go first, Charles, Max, or Cyrus. He decided on Charles since he had political power. So, he waited for the perfect moment to make his move. Today would be the day. He sat alone in his stolen car inside of the parking structure of the Grand Hotel downtown until Charlie appeared from the elevator after spending the night with a prostitute. He was currently on vacation. A perfect time for Tom to put his plan is play. Charles strutted along with a smile on his face without a care in the world when his world went black.

After placing Charles phone under the seat of his car knowing that Huck was tracking him. He tossed him into the trunk of his stolen car and drove off. For the next five days Tom would visit Charles in an undisclosed location. He eventually told Huck that he had him after Huck called him about the tracker not moving from the hotel. Huck simply nodded his head in understanding. Day five of Charles capture Tom walked into the room wearing a face mask. He doesn't speak, but Charles can't seem to shut up. He begs and pleads with Tom not knowing who he was for one more fix. His expensive suit was now dirty and soiled. He smelled horrible, but it didn't bother Tom.

"Please man, whoever you are, you got me addicted to this shit?! I just need a fix. My stomach is killing me. Please did you bring more?"

Staring at him with killer eyes Tom watches him squirm. His mission is just about complete. A junkie would lose all since of reality. The most important thing to them would be getting more drugs. In two more days. He Charles would need to return to work. He knew what he needed to do. He steps forward and grabs Charles by the arm. Even with it tied behind his back he could see the track marks now present where he had been shooting him up in the arm with. With one quick motion he cuts his hands loose but leaves his feet tied. He steps back and tosses the small bag of heroin next to the exposed needle, lighter and spoon on the floor.

Charles snatches it up and for the first time in his life he mimics what he saw Tom do to cook up the powerful dangerous drug; preps and injects the drug into his sore arm. Tom watches and waits. Within minutes Charles begins to convulse and foam at the mouth from taking too much of the drug. Tom continues to wait until Charles stop moving. He checks for a pulse and then unties his feet, leaving him, taking any and all traces of him being held with him. He walks back to his car and looks around before removing another unconscious junkie from his trunk. He takes him inside placing him in another room with two small bags of heroin at his feet before leaving for good. He called Huck and shared that Charles would no longer be a problem and to watch the news for a breaking story.
