The Wingull sat quietly at first, preening the night from its feathers as it basked in the sunrise of the deck. A series of crew footsteps moved too close, and the bird launched, loudly squawking past Louis' port window.
"What a night," he yawned.
Before he could leave his cabin, Louis changed out of his pyjamas, grabbed a hairbrush and tidied up his messy bed-hair. Afterwards, he picked up his pendant and placed it around his neck.
"There. All better," he said to himself.
The 'boy that can talk to Wailords' emerged from his cabin and rubbed his eyes.
Again, the smell of hot, crispy potato floated the ship's corridors.
Louis was nearly inside the galley, as the intercom ruptured to life.
"All hands on deck! Now approaching Poké Island!"
With that, Louis bypassed the galley and dashed toward the ship's deck. The cool breeze was welcomed by the travelling boy, while the heat from the sun warmed his soul.
Excitement again filled him.
However, the light from the sun partially obscured his view. So, he used his right hand to shield the glare from his eyes. What Louis saw made his jaw drop.
"Whoa!" he exclaimed.
In the distance, a vast island approached. The tropical trees that mostly took inheritance on the land shone in the light of the sun. As the vessel got closer, the boy viewed several rooftops of what had to be the academy.
In a matter of moments, the Lapras Express was already nearing the port.
The port in question appeared to have been freshly refurbished with new planks of wood. There was a sign nailed to it that read;
"Lapras Express, dock here."
Before the boat port was a large set of stairs leading up to the academy, which prevented Louis from getting a good view of the entire building.
The place was alive. Numerous people went about their day, and many, many Pokémon, some of which the boy had never seen, followed their trainers about the campus dock.
On the stairs, two individuals observed the ship. They saw Louis heading back into his cabin and grabbing his bag of supplies.
Then, the female noticed that the ship had some damage done to it.
"Roy...why has the Lapras Express got a big dent in it?" she asked.
The female in question had purple hair and green eyes while wearing a pink top and long-legged jeans.
The other individual, Roy, had black hair, brown skin and eyes. He wore eye-glasses, a red headband, an orange shirt, with a black singlet over it and long track pants.
"Must've hit something," said Roy.
Louis took his first step onto the gangplank. He bid the captain and his crew farewell. The boy trotted onto the dock and proceeded toward the campus.
"Hey kid!" a voice met Louis as he bounded up the stairs.
Louis spun around to Roy sitting next to the female individual.
"Dude, what happened to the Lapras?" said Roy, pointing.
Louis turned and finally saw the damage to the vessel.
A huge dent, like a half-shell, pushed in the side of the ship. It looked expensive to fix.
"Oooooh" Louis relinquished.
'That's why it was so apologetic,' he thought.
He returned his attention to the two students before speaking.
"Uh...a Wailord accidentally bumped into it," he explained. "It appeared to be lost."
Roy and the girl blinked twice.
"Oh..." the female spoke.
"Yeah," replied Louis, who continued on his way up the stairs.
Soon...after Louis was out of earshot, Roy spoke.
"How did he know it was lost?"
