Froakie and Louis looked at each other for a few moments.

"Um, what's wrong?" asked Froakie.

Louis scratched his head.

"About what you told us earlier today," he started.

"Y-...you said that you have a sister, right?" he inquired.

Uh, yeah," responded Froakie. "Why?"

"Is she at the academy too?" the boy added.

"Yeah," the frog Pokémon answered.

"After our trainer had to retire, he brought us to the academy so that we could continue our journey with someone else."

Louis felt a sudden pang of sadness about having separated them.

"I see," he said. "I'm sorry."

"Huh? For what?" asked Froakie.

"For you not being together with your sister," the boy clarified.

Froakie gave a reassuring smile.

"You don't have to apologise," it said. "With a place this big, I was kinda expecting it."

"...oh," blurted Louis.

Then, another idea popped into the boy's subconscious.

"Actually, that gives me an idea," he mentioned.

Froakie looked on, confused.

"What?" it said.

"I might give you a little name," suggested Louis.

Froakie became surprised at Louis' idea.

"A name?" it questioned. "Why?"

"Well, let's say that you and your sister see each other again..." the boy began.

"And I happen to pass by and bring you along with me to the field. I might accidentally end up picking up your sister instead without realising it."

Froakie chortled.

"Not the reason I was expecting," it chuckled.

The boy began contemplating a number of names he could give to the frog Pokémon.

'Maybe...Bouncer?' he thought. 'Eh...wouldn't fit.'

'Oh! Maybe...Ribbity! ...no, that sounds too cliche. What about...Bubbles? ...no, that's stupid.'

Louis then stared at the form and colour of Froakie.

'Blue?' he internally said. 'Maybe. ...but what's another word for blue?'

After giving it much thought, Louis finally decided on a name.

"Ah! I got it!" proclaimed Louis.

Louis returned his attention to Froakie, grinning.

"How about...'Azul'?" he offered.

Froakie seemed quite surprised at the name Louis spoke.

"Azul?" it replied.

"Yeah, it's Spanish for Blue," clarified Louis.

"...why not just call me 'Blue'?" inquired Froakie.

Louis chuckled.

"Honestly, Azul sounds cooler," he responded.

Froakie thought for a brief moment about the name suggestion. Soon, it began to smile.

"Ok, Azul it is," it said.

Louis smiled, pleased at how accepting Froakie...or Azul was about his new name. Then, Louis recalled another event from earlier in the day.

'Oh! The tournament!' he thought.

One by one, Louis popped his team from their Pokéball homes, and each landed and took in the new surroundings. After he'd gathered them all, the boy spoke.

"Hey everyone," he greeted.

"I've got a few things I need to talk to you all about."

"Oh really? Like what?" asked Staravia.

Louis turned his attention to Azul and grinned before returning his focus to the others.

"First..." the boy paused. "I've decided to give Froakie a little name."

The rest of the Pokémon became surprised, while Azul proudly smiled.

"You can call him...Azul," revealed Louis.

A series of noises filled the room, as each Pokémon committed the new name to memory.

"Why do you get to have a nickname?!" snarled Torracat.

"Whoa whoa!" interrupted Louis.

"I'll give you a nickname too. What about...Firecat?"

Torracat slightly blushed in embarrassment.

"On second thought, Torracat is fine," it said.

Many sets of eyes focused on the boy.

"Are you aware of the academy holding tournaments every year?" questioned Louis.

"Of course we are," answered Cubone. "Everybody talks about it."

"Why do you ask?" added Riolu.

Louis rubbed the back of his head before speaking again. "Well, we saw a poster about it earlier today."

"We kinda had this big discussion about it. I learned that Suzuki and this other kid, Simon, have won it a number of times already."

"So?" said Torracat.

"So, Suzuki tried to encourage us to sign up for it and-"

"You're gonna do it?" interrupted Azul, excitedly.

The gang looked at Azul, not expecting the sudden exuberance beaming from the little Pokémon.

"Uh...I don't know," answered Louis.

"Aw, you really should!" smiled Azul. "I think it'd be great for you."

The others turned in shock. Louis pondered for a second before smiling.

"It'll be great for all of us," he said.
