Oops. Sorry for the late post.

The next chapter will be posted tomorrow. So be prepared.

The next morning, numerous trainers and teachers gathered around the sign-up booth. Excitement filled the air, and a few nervously bounced on the spot or chatted loudly.

"Get a load of this," gasped Louis. "I've never seen people this excited about a tournament."

"Then again, I've never been to a tournament before," the boy added.

Three familiar heads talked amongst themselves toward the perimeter of the gathering.

Recognising the differing hairstyles, Louis approached from behind.

"Where is he?" Violet questioned.

– "Probably slept-in," jibed Roy, while Suzuki scanned the hopeful, excited entrants.

"Hey!" called Louis.

The boy approached his friends.

"Well..." Suzuki began, "We're all here, shall we go sign up"?

The words warmed Louis. We're all here. He had only been here a couple of days, and yet, these people were now as close to him as any he'd consider family. He smiled and responded.

"Yes."

Each applied their signatures to the registration form and gathered the necessary paperwork to transfer.

As the group left the crowd, so excited to be in a new tournament, they failed to notice another applicant signing his name.

Simon Varnett.

The quartet gathered at the field. Louis released his Pokémon team, showing them all of the details.

It was then that Suzuki, Violet and Roy decided to bring out their Pokémon as well.

Suzuki brought out his Jigglypuff, Roy brought out his Lycanroc, and Violet decided to bring out her Ludicolo.

Louis could've sworn that he had seen Violet's Pokémon from somewhere. Then, a memory flashed before his mind.

'Oh yeah! It's the Pokémon that Dad drew," he thought.

Roy flicked through the registration papers, reading the printed words aloud on occasion.

"Looks like I'll need to think of a name for my team," he said.

"Name for your team?" inquired Louis.

"Yeah, every trainer gets to name their team when competing in this tournament," Suzuki explained.

"Heh, sounds cool."

"Team Awesome!" Shouted Roy, punching his fist skyward, before realising his friends were staring.

"Wasn't your team called that before?" questioned Violet.

"No way. Before, we were Team Incredible!"

Suzuki's face shifted to something akin to a muffled laugh.

"Okay... Roy, how about a new name this year?"

As his friends spoke, a word formed in Louis' mind.

"Team Supernova?" suggested Louis.

Lycanroc shifted its eyesight to the boy from Johto.

"That sounds pretty cool," it said.

Louis replied with a thumbs-up.

"What do you think, Roy?" he asked.

As Roy decided, Louis felt a word beginning to form for his own team.

Something stirred within the boy.

Once again, Riolu sensed that the boy's aura was beginning to darken.

"Uh, Louis?" it said. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah," the boy replied. "I think I've figured out the name of our team."

Eavesdropping on the conversation between human and Pokémon, Violet spoke up.

"You have?" she questioned.

Memories welled within Louis as he revealed his team's name to his friends.

"I was thinking of...Team Venus," he said.

"Team Venus?" questioned Suzuki.

"Yeah," replied Louis. "It was the first thing that came to mind."

"That sounds stupid," blurted Torracat.

Louis glared at the cat Pokémon with fiery eyes.

"Don't you DARE say that!" he growled.

Louis stopped, realising what he had just done.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he apologised. "...I've got my reasons for the name."

"Really?" asked Roy. "Like what?"

The memories came flooding into the boy's train of thought. His main reasons for choosing the name of his team. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"...there was a Venusaur I met back in Johto," he began.

"My friends and I found her sleeping in a forest. She helped us in finding something that we needed, and..."

Louis paused for a brief moment.

"...she told me the stuff about my Dad. His backstory, his fall, and his connection as to why I have the ability to talk to Pokémon in the first place."

The trio of Roy, Violet and Suzuki looked at each other, surprised. None of them were expecting a Venusaur to be so important to the boy.

"If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have known about my family's history or more about my Dad," continued Louis.

Violet gazed upon the boy. The story warmed her mind and soul.

"She must've been really great, huh?" she voiced.

"Believe me, she was," the boy replied.

Before Louis could continue, he grew sad.

"However..." he hesitated.

"During the night, she..."

"...she passed away."

Immediately, the air grew silent. The party's eyes widened. Suzuki slowly smiled at the boy.

"I think that's the perfect name for your team," he suggested.

Louis turned his attention to the top student.

"You think so?" he questioned.

– "Of course. What better way to honour a fallen Pokémon than to use part of its name as a tribute."

Louis mustered up a smile, thankful for Suzuki's kind words.

"Not just that, but I've noticed a bit of a theme," added Suzuki.

Each of Suzuki's acquaintances turned their attention to him, confused at what he said.

"What do you mean?" asked Roy.

"Team Supernova? Team Venus?" Suzuki began. "I'm sensing a space theme in this group."

– "And I like it!" he finished.

"As for my team..." pondered Suzuki. "...I'll call ourselves Team Rocket."

"NO!" shouted Louis.

All members of the party looked at the boy, startled.

"Any name but that!" grumbled Louis.

Aww. What a good name, Louis.
