Whoops. I was late in posting a chapter again. sorry about that
With Suzuki's long and exciting battle now over, the veteran trainer took his fallen comrades to the Pokémon Centre.
Now it was time for Simon's battle.
As he stepped into position on the field, with his opponent joining from the other side, both trainers brought out their first Pokéballs.
"BEGIN!" announced the referee.
Simon's first Pokémon to call out was a Houndoom, while his opponent brought out a Chandelure to the field.
From the stands, Louis, Violet and Roy grew nervous.
"Something tells me that Simon's gonna go all out," said Roy.
"What do you mean?" asked Louis.
"Simon has never been known to give other trainers a chance."
"He'll do whatever is necessary to win," clarified Violet.
Louis gulped.
"Chandelure, use Shadow Ball!" ordered its trainer.
The Chandelure created a shadowy blob-like shape and launched it at Simon's Pokémon.
"Houndoom, dodge!" called Simon.
The Houndoom leapt out of the way before the Shadow Ball could impact. The fiery beast snarled.
"Use Bite!" Simon ordered.
The four-legged creature bared its fangs, bolted toward the levitating Ghost Pokémon and clamped down on its body. The amount of pressure from the bite was strong enough to deal a lot of damage. The Chandelure couldn't take the pain and fainted.
"Chandelude is unable to battle. Houndoom Wins!" the referee called.
There was no cheering this time. A fact that Simon had learned previously. No one would cheer for him, and a mixture of sadness and anger began to build within, just as it always did.
His opponent returned the fallen Pokémon and brought out a Pelipper. Simon followed his opponent's example and switched out his Houndoom with his Luxio.
"What's that other kid doing?!" groaned Violet. "Doesn't he know that Electric types are super effective on Water and Flying types?!"
The flying Pokémon hurtled straight toward the electric type beast and dealt a good strike. Unfortunately, it wasn't powerful enough to take it down. Simon smirked.
"Luxio, take it down with Spark!" he said.
The Luxio created electric sparks all over its body and charged at the Pelipper. It jumped up and collided with the opposing Pokémon.
The electricity travelled through the Pelipper's body and knocked it out of the air and onto the ground.
Roy groaned.
"I knew that was gonna happen," he said.
"Pelipper is unable to battle. Luxio wins!" announced the referee.
As the opposing trainer returned his second fallen Pokémon and prepared to bring out his third monster. Simon switched out his Luxio with...a Garchomp. At that moment, something inside the other trainer switched off. He placed the Pokéball back into his pocket and said;
"This has been a complete waste of time!"
He turned and walked away from the field.
"Now what's he doing?" said Louis.
The referee raised both arms to signal the end of the battle.
"Keith Gryphon has forfeited the match!" he called.
"The winner is Simon Varnett!"
A tremendous amount of jeers engulfed the area, not just for Simon's victory, but for Keith giving up so easily.
"Seriously?!" growled Simon. "You're not even gonna finish the battle?!"
"I can't believe he quit!" groaned Violet.
"That's just as pathetic as that Totodile I left in Johto!" yelled Simon.
The words spoken, sharply-hooked and vicious, buried themselves deep within Louis' being. Without thought, the boy stood up and began walking off the stands.
"Louis?" said Violet, catching a glimpse of the boy exiting.
"Where's he going?" Roy wondered.
Louis, with a fire growing in his belly, approached the red-haired boy, with Roy and Violet trailing behind.
"Wait a minute," the boy said, getting Simon's attention.
"What did you just say?!"
The crowd began to stir.
"Err...what's happening?" some asked.
"What? That he was as pathetic as the Totodile I abandoned back in Johto?" said Simon. "What's it to you?"
At that moment, Louis envisioned Totodile, before she had evolved into a Crocanaw, being abandoned by Simon in a dark gloomy forest. Tears flowed down Totodile's face as Simon walked away.
The boy was brought back into reality.
'So...that's why Crocanaw asked if I was gonna be gone forever,' he thought.
An imaginary stick of dynamite detonated inside Louis' mind. He...was...angry.
He clenched his fists, bared his teeth, and bolted at the heartless Pokémon Trainer. Before he could even make an attack, the boy was restrained by Roy and Violet. It wasn't easy, as Louis was absolutely furious.
"Whoa! Louis!" cried Roy. "Take it easy!"
"LET ME GO!" yelled Louis. "I'M GONNA RIP HIS HEAD OFF!"
"Calm down!" struggled Violet. "Don't listen to him!"
Louis, madder than he ever has been, ignored Violet's advice.
"YOU LITTLE PUNK!" he shouted, being dragged away. "YOU'RE DEAD! YOU HEAR ME?! DEAD!"
Even with the struggle of keeping the boy restrained, Roy and Violet dragged Louis out of Simon's vision. Although he was still mad as hell, Louis restrained himself as Roy and Violet released their grips of him.
Not long after, Suzuki returned from the Pokémon Centre.
"Sorry I took so long," he said.
Almost immediately, Suzuki spotted Louis' face full of rage.
"Uh...you alright, man?" he asked.
"No!" growled Louis.
The boy with blonde hair turned his attention to the other two trainers.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Simon had his match a few minutes ago," Roy began. "It was all one-sided, with Simon one-shotting each of Keith Gryphon's Pokémon."
"And guess what? Keith quit the match!" added Violet.
"What?!" shrieked Suzuki. "Is that why Louis is...uh...angry?"
"No. Simon said something that got him riled up."
It was then that Suzuki returned his focus to Louis.
"Is that true?" he asked.
Louis nodded, unable to speak. Suzuki then pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.
"Simon has a knack for getting under people's skin," he said. "It's best not to listen to him."
Louis stood up, with his fury burning.
"You don't understand!" he growled. "He said that he left a Totodile in Johto!"
"Whoa whoa, easy!" said Suzuki. "Why are you so ticked off about it?"
"Because I know the Totodile he's referring to!"
The group fell silent. Multiple pairs of eyes gazed at the boy.
"W-...what was that?" said Violet.
"I said I know the Totodile he abandoned," clarified Louis.
"...oh," said Suzuki. "I-I'm sorry."
Louis, with regained composure, spoke again.
"You don't have to apologise," he said. "You didn't know."
The trio sat down next to the boy from Johto, with Suzuki placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You feeling a little better?" Suzuki asked.
Louis shifted his head, grinning.
"Yeah, only a little bit," he answered.
A voice over the loudspeaker interrupted their cooldown.
"The next battle will be Laura Flint versus Violet Watson," it announced.
"Well, looks like I'm up," said Violet, lifting herself up from the bench.
The other two trainers began to follow her back to the field. Louis stood up and walked in the opposite direction. Suzuki caught this out the corner of his eye.
"Hey Louis, aren't you coming?" he called.
"I'd love to," explained Louis. "But I have to call home."
Whoa. I don't think anyone was expecting that twist.
