There was a new atmosphere in the Arena now. One made of hushed tones, and whispers. Most here knew that this would be an ugly battle, and the feeling wasn't lost on Violet Watson.
A sense of dread flowed through Violet's body. Facing off against Simon was the last thing she wanted to do in this tournament. She closed her eyes and tried to calm her nerves. Unfortunately, her attempts were in vain as she became more nervous.
The girl felt a hand placed on her shoulder. She turned her head to see Suzuki giving off a compassionate vibe.
"Try not to worry about it too much," he said. "It'll only cloud your mind."
But then, something like fire began to burn within her will. An idea. A glowing hope.
'If I can take Simon's team out now, Suzuki will have a clear shot at this year's win,' she thought.
The tall, mean kid was already on his mark.
"Hey!" he yelled. "Quit delaying, get over here!"
As the girl found her mark, Simon spoke again, in a snarky tone.
"I honestly thought you would forfeit and save yourself the embarrassment?"
Violet gritted her teeth.
"I would never pass up the chance of taking you down!" she spoke back.
Silence found the arena.
The referee raised his arms into the air before saying;
"BEGIN!"
With the battle commencing, the two trainers retrieved a Pokéball from their stash. Violet threw her capsule up into the air where a Pachirisu emerged from the beam of light. Simon, on the other hand, brought out his Luxio to the battlefield.
"Alright, no more playing around," muttered Violet.
She cleared her throat before announcing her first move.
"Pachirisu, use Swift!"
The girl's Pokémon took in a deep breath before firing a large number of glowing, white stars from its mouth, sending them straight for Simon's Luxio.
"Dodge as many of those as you can, Luxio!" ordered Simon.
The beast was nimble, deftly tumbling away from a majority of the attack.
"Now use Tackle!"
The Luxio used all four of its legs to dash toward the small Pachirisu, hurtling full-speed at it like a passenger train.
"Quick Pachirisu, dodge!" exclaimed Violet.
The Pachirisu attempted to dodge to the right, but Luxio was faster than it expected and was just able to land the attack on the small white and blue Pokémon.
Even though the opposing creature was supposedly more powerful, Pachirisu wasn't ready to give up. Not now.
"Ok Pachirisu, use Electro Ball," commanded Violet.
With that, Pachirisu charged up the electricity in its body to create a yellow, static ball of electrical discharges and launched it at the Luxio.
However, instead of dodging, the opposing Pokémon decided to stay put and take it. The ball of electricity collided with the Luxio.
Although it dealt a small amount of damage, it barely had an effect on the creature.
"I can't believe it just stood there," said Louis.
"Simon and his Pokémon have been known to do stuff like that," grumbled Suzuki.
It was then that the red-haired boy shot a taunting glare at Suzuki and Louis. This made the boy from Johto grit his teeth and clench his fist.
'I'm going to punch him,' he thought. 'I'm going to freakin' punch him!'
"Alright Luxio, use Crunch!" exclaimed Simon.
At that moment, Luxio bared its sharp teeth and pounced at Violet's Pachirisu, where it then clamped its fangs down onto Pachirisu's body, causing it to yelp in pain.
A number of audience members winced at the sound.
Unfortunately, for Violet, that move dealt enough damage to make her Pokémon fall unconscious.
"Pachirisu is unable to battle. Luxio wins!" the referee announced.
Before Simon could react, Violet had already returned her fallen Pokémon and brought out Ludicolo as her replacement.
This action surprised Suzuki and Roy.
"That was quick," Roy spoke.
"Use Mega Drain!" ordered Violet.
In the blink of an eye, Ludicolo leapt toward the four-legged Pokémon, grabbed onto it and proceeded to drain the energy from the opposing Pokémon. With the after-effects of the Swift and Electro Ball attacks from before, Ludicolo had managed to drain the remainder of energy from Luxio, causing it to faint.
The attendee's eyes widened.
"Luxio is unable to battle. Ludicolo wins!"
And just like that, Violet began to grin.
As Simon brought his Luxio back into its Pokéball and retrieved another device, he muttered silently.
"Try this on for size, big girl."
With that, he brought out his Houndoom to battle.
"Oh man," whispered Suzuki. "I hope Violet knows what she's doing."
"Quick, use Energy Ball!" yelped Violet.
Almost immediately, Ludicolo created a glowing, green ball of energy from the front of its mouth and fired it at the opposing Houndoom.
"Dodge it, Houndoom!" Simon advised.
The Houndoom quickly moved out of the ball of energy's course of action.
"Now use Fire Fang!"
Flames began to erupt inside the beast's mouth. It bolted toward the opposing Ludicolo and clamped its teeth down on its arms.
Ludicolo winced and groaned. However, the move couldn't stop it.
"Ludicolo, use Mega Drain again!" yelled Violet.
With Houndoom still biting down on its arm, Ludicolo wrapped its other arm around the opposing creature, its eyes and body began to glow as it drained energy from the Houndoom. Unlike the previous use of the move, the attack didn't cause Houndoom to collapse. Instead, the battle raged on.
"Those two aren't holding back," said Taki.
"We've all got beef with him," replied Roy.
Taki then noticed Crocanaw glaring at the boy with red hair. Before she spoke, Taki realised why she was feeling this way and continued watching the battle. What proceeded was a long back-and-forth struggle between the two Pokémon. After a while, both creatures appeared to be incredibly exhausted.
"Ludicolo..." said Violet. "Use Zen Headbutt!"
Using its remaining strength, Ludicolo ran toward the opponent, attempting to ram it.
"Houndoom, get out of the way!" yelled Simon.
Houndoom leapt up into the air, completely avoiding the opposing Pokémon's attack.
"Finish this off with Ember!"
With that, Houndoom launched a ball of fire at Ludicolo. It made an impact on its body, which made Ludicolo fall to its knees and faint.
"No..." muttered Violet.
"Ludicolo is unable to battle. Houndoom wins!" announced the referee.
Some members of the audience groaned in annoyance.
"Aw man, Violet almost had him," grumbled Roy.
"It's ok, she still has Yanmega," replied Suzuki.
'Yeah, but I don't think it'll last long against his Houndoom or Garchomp,' Roy thought.
Violet sent her fallen Pokémon back into its Pokéball. As she prepared to bring out her final Pokémon, she overheard Simon saying;
"Not bad. ...for trash."
A thread of patience in Violet's mind snapped.
Imaginary fires engulfed Violet's eyes, while a very unimagined fury took over her.
"You want trash?! I'll show you trash!" she screamed.
"Oh, no," whispered Suzuki to himself.
Violet threw her Pokéball, releasing her Yanmega. Simon, on the other hand, brought out his Garchomp.
The green hard shelled Yanmega with Dragonfly-like wings, and the terrifying Garchomp, with blades for hands, faced off.
Yanmega turned its head to see a furious Violet. A drop of sweat rolled down its face.
"Yanmega, use Air Slash! Now!" growled Violet.
The Yanmega's wings began to glow. It spun around and launched a sharp, glowing wave at the opposing Garchomp.
"Sidestep, Garchomp," said Simon.
Garchomp sidestepped away from the Air Slash. Simon grinned sinisterly.
"Take it down with Dragon Claw!"
Garchomp's hand claws began to glow light blue. It charged at the Yanmega with tremendous speed. It swung its glowing claws at the bug-type and landed a perfectly-aimed strike on the Pokémon, sending it careening to the ground. It could not get back up.
"Yanmega is unable to battle. Garchomp wins," the referee declared. "The winner of this battle is Simon Varnett and his team of Pokémon."
Almost immediately, a widespread sound of jeers erupted from the stands. Violet kicked the dirt in frustration.
"You weren't kidding," snarked Simon. "That was trash."
"Geez," growled Miguel. "That kid's a jerk!"
He ended up receiving a sharp elbow to the ribs from Janet.
Suzuki sighed, heavily disappointed. The fact that Simon had won, and that Violet was now eliminated began to weigh on his thoughts. Violet returned her Yanmega into its spherical capsule and walked out of the gym, taking all of her fallen monsters to the campus' Pokémon Centre.
"Let's just hope he doesn't face off against any more of us," said Louis.
"At this point, it is inevitable," replied Suzuki.
Soon, the professor switched on his microphone and began to speak again.
"The next battle is Louis Serrano and Team Venus facing off against Curtis Floyd and Team Garnet."
Taki turned her head to Louis.
"Looks like you're up," she said.
The boy nodded. Before walking onto the battle arena, Louis went straight to the gym's locker room. Upon entering, he proceeded to bring out all six of his Pokémon.
"Ok, guys. Our match is up next," he said. "I may need help in choosing who to bring out with me."
Before the group of Pokémon could begin a discussion, Marowak spoke up.
"I'll sit out this time," it said.
"Sorry?" inquired Louis.
"I may have evolved, but it seems only fair I let someone else battle."
The boy nodded.
"I'll sit out as well," said Azul.
"Me too," added Staravia.
Pleased by the quick response, Louis shifted his attention to Fennekin, Riolu and Torracat, who were grinning with confidence.
"So, are you three ready?" questioned Louis.
"Ready!" the three Pokémon exclaimed in unison.
The boy returned the Pokémon in question to their Pokéballs, where he made his way back to the stands with the remaining three.
"Hey, Taki, Dad, do you guys mind watching over my Pokémon while I'm down there?" he asked.
"Sure, no problem," answered Taki.
Louis left his remaining three Pokémon with his friends. He stepped onto the arena, new confidence built within the boy as he took his mark.
"Oh, it's that strange kid from the qualifiers," Curtis muttered quietly.
Both trainers retrieved their first Pokéball as the referee lifted his arms above his head.
"BEGIN!"
Curtis was the first to release their Pokémon.
"Go, Weavile!" he exclaimed.
A bright beam of light shot out from the Pokéball as it opened up. As the light died down, the Weavile prepared for battle.
"Riolu, you're up!" cheered Louis.
The Pokémon in question emerged from the capsule and landed on its two feet. The battle was about to start.
"Weavile, use Slash!" Curtis called.
One of Weavile's claws began to glow white as it leapt toward the small, aura Pokémon with surprising speed.
"Riolu. Quick, move!" yelped Louis.
Riolu tried to roll out of the way, but Weavile's claws had managed to scratch the black and blue creature, making it wince.
"You alright?" the boy called.
"Yeah, I'm fine," replied Riolu.
"Great. Now use Quick Attack!"
Before anyone could react, Riolu began to dash toward Weavile, leaving a cloud of dust in its trail.
The aura Pokémon tackled Weavile, knocking it back a few feet.
"Yeah!" Louis cheered. "Nice one, Riolu."
"Don't get cocky, Louis," said Staravia, under its breath.
As Riolu leapt back to its position, Curtis saw an opening for Weavile to strike.
"Use Night Slash, Weavile!" he commanded.
With that command, Weavile created a purple energy sword in the palm of one of its hands, using the other hand to grab the weapon for use. It then charged toward Riolu.
"Block it!" called Louis.
Riolu placed its arms in a cross formation. The purple energy sword made an impact with the Pokémon, dealing a small amount of damage.
At that moment, Louis saw the perfect opportunity.
"Riolu!" he yelled. "Reversal!"
In an instant, Riolu grinned and converted the power from the weapon into its own strength. It then jumped and lifted Weavile into the air, where Riolu used a powerful strike against the sharp claw Pokémon, sending it hurtling to the ground. As the dust settled, Weavile was down for the count.
Multiple sets of eyes widened in stunned silence.
"That was unexpected," blurted Roy.
"Weavile is unable to battle. Riolu wins!"
After returning his fallen Pokémon, Curtis brought out his second creature to the battlefield. It was none other than a Carnivine.
"Ooh, that probably wasn't a smart move," muttered Louis.
Louis retrieved Riolu's Pokéball from his pocket.
"Come on back, Riolu. You did great."
A red beam shot out from the Pokéball and brought Riolu back into the device.
The boy then brought a separate capsule from his pocket.
"Let's go, Fennekin!"
Fennekin leapt out from the Pokéball and onto the ground.
"Yes! Good one, Louis," cheered Suzuki, through gritted teeth.
Each trainer planned for the first move their Pokémon could use.
"Carnivine, Leaf Tornado!" ordered Curtis.
Carnivine began to spin around like a spinning top as a large tornado with circles of light-green energy appeared above its head. Once it was big enough, the tornado began to pull in Louis' Pokémon.
"Uh oh," said Louis. "Fennekin, look out!"
Unfortunately, Fennekin was sucked into the tornado. As it was consumed by the whirlwind, the circles of energy morphed into glowing leaves that spun around inside the tornado, causing Fennekin to get slight cuts.
Then, Carnivine slammed the tornado into the ground, making it disappear.
As the clouds of swirling wind subsided, Louis could see the damage that had been dealt to Fennekin.
"Hey, Fennekin," he called. "Are you alright?"
"Mostly," replied Fennekin. "I've still got some fight in me."
Louis nodded.
Curtis looked on from the distance, confused as ever.
"Yep. That kid really is strange," he whispered to himself.
"Ok Fennekin," said Louis. "Use Flamethrower."
Fennekin nodded. Taking in a deep breath, Fennekin exhaled a stream of fire at Carnivine. Being a grass-type Pokémon, Carnivine was vulnerable to the attack. It dealt a tremendous amount of damage, but it wasn't ready to quit.
Then, Louis knelt down to his Pokémon.
"Hey, Fennekin," he said.
"Hm?" Fennekin responded.
"I'm thinking about bringing Torracat out. But, if you still want to go on, I'll wait. Is that fine?"
The fox Pokémon pondered for a moment.
"Bring him out," it said.
"Huh?" replied Louis.
"Torracat has yet to be in a battle. I know I've still got some energy left, but I'll let Torracat finish this off."
The boy grinned.
He stood back up and revealed Fennekin's Pokéball, returning it inside.
"He's switching?" said Azul.
"Looks like," replied Marowak. "Remember, he still has Torracat and Riolu."
Louis brandished another capsule and launched it into the air.
"Your turn, Torracat!" he called.
The fiery cat Pokémon appeared from the light inside the device and landed on all four of its feet.
"My turn already?" it said, confidently.
Curtis, growing a little nervous, prepared to call the next attack.
"Carnivine, use Vine Whip!" he yelled.
Two dark-green vines emerged from the leaves behind Carnivine's head and hurtled straight for Torracat.
"Dodge them, Torracat!" called Louis.
With speed and dexterity, Torracat used its agility to dodge each attack from the vines.
"Now use Fire Fang!"
Flames began to build up in Torracat's mouth, where it then hurtled toward Carnivine, leapt up, and clamped its fiery, fanged teeth onto the grass-type Pokémon.
The burning sensation from the attack and the amount of damage dealt led to Carnivine falling to the ground, overwhelmed by the attacks.
"Carnivine is unable to battle. Torracat wins!"
"Yes! Great job, Torracat!" cheered Louis.
He then retrieved Fennekin's Pokéball and gazed at it proudly.
"You too, Fennekin," he said.
From the stands, Miguel and Janet became mesmerised by the spectacle.
"That's my boy," said Miguel.
"Oh, I'm so proud," Janet smiled.
Louis wiped the sweat from his forehead and returned his attention to Curtis.
"You ready for Round Three?" he called.
However, Curtis became incredibly worried. He began sweating, profusely.
"Uh, what's wrong?" called Louis.
"I-uh...I-..." stuttered Curtis. "...I don't have any more Pokéballs."
The arena fell silent.
"...what?"
"I... I only have two Pokèmon" Curtis answered.
Louis chortled.
"...how?"
– "I didn't think I'd need them" Curtis responded sheepishly.
There was audible laughter from the crowd now, and as the situation dawned on Louis, he did something no-one, not even he himself could have expected.
"Dude! I'll lend you one!"
Curtis looked at the boy in stunned silence.
"...are you serious?" he questioned.
"Yeah," answered Louis. "Just this once."
Louis turned his attention to the other three Pokémon on his team, who were still residing in the stands.
"Hey!" he called. "Can one of you three come down here and give Curtis a hand?"
As Curtis chose a Pokemon to battle with, four people in the crowd of many felt a sudden sense of pride. His mother and father, of course, but also Taki and Suzuki.
The latter turned to Roy and spoke a single word.
"Wow."
Curtis selected Marowak to temporarily be a part of his team. The Pokémon in question stepped over to the battlefield and prepared itself for battle.
"Don't expect me to go too easy on you, Torracat," said Marowak.
"I won't," replied Torracat.
Louis checked on Curtis from afar.
"All sorted?" offered Louis.
"Mm-hmm," his rival answered.
Curtis cleared his throat.
"Ok, Marowak..." he began. "Use...uh...Double Kick?"
The beast bolted straight toward Louis' combatant.
"Double Kick?" the boy blurted.
Then, in quick succession, Marowak landed one powerful kick to Torracat's body, while landing another strike in the style of a kickflip.
To Louis' surprise, as well as the other Pokémon on his team, Torracat was knocked out from the attack.
"Uh...T-Torracat is unable to battle. Marowak wins!" stuttered the referee.
With both eyes widened, Louis blinked twice.
"S-...since when could you do that move?!" blurted Louis.
"I learned it while we were training," replied Marowak.
"I didn't know that!"
The crowd laughed.
The boy's opponent watched the...conversation, confused as ever.
"Seriously, that guy is pretty strange," muttered Curtis.
Torracat opened its eyes, regaining consciousness.
"Wow, what a move," it groaned.
Then, Louis returned Torracat to its Pokéball. He quickly brought out one of his previous capsules. The Pokémon that was brought back out...was Fennekin.
"Huh?" it said.
Fennekin immediately noticed Marowak standing on the opposite side of the field.
"Wait, why am I facing off against Marowak?!" it shrieked.
Louis knelt down to the fire fox.
"The guy didn't have a third Pokémon on his team, so I let him borrow one of ours," the boy explained. "It's only this one time."
Although it was still nervous, Fennekin nodded.
"Try not to focus too much on Marowak's power, and think of a way to take him down," whispered Louis. "He's slow... use your speed against him."
With a new shred of determination, Fennekin readied itself.
"Alright..." said Louis. "Use Fire Spin, Fennekin!"
Taking a deep breath, Fennekin opened its mouth and sent a spiralling flame toward Marowak. Before Marowak could attempt to dodge, the spiralling flames surrounded the Pokémon, trapping it.
The flames surrounding Marowak gave off an intense, burning heat.
Curtis couldn't do a thing to get Marowak out.
"Now use...Will-O-Wisp!" exclaimed Louis.
Fennekin opened its jaw, forming a blue-ish flame in its mouth. After building it up, Fennekin launched it at the trapped Marowak.
In a gap between the spinning fires, the blue flames made contact with Marowak's body, dealing a significant amount of damage. This, in turn, lead to Marowak collapsing under its own weight.
"Marowak is unable to battle. Fennekin wins!" announced the referee. "The winner of this battle is Louis Serrano and Team Venus!"
A number of audience members applauded and cheered. Curtis walked over to the victorious boy and extended an arm.
"Nice work, man," he said. "And thanks for letting me borrow your Pokémon."
"Don't mention it," replied Louis, grinning.
Louis then walked over to the fallen Marowak, as it was sitting up, groaning.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Eh, a little hot," answered Marowak. "Fennekin's really good."
"Yeah, she is."
Louis brought out Riolu's Pokéball and released the aura Pokémon.
"What happened?" it asked. "Did we win?"
"We sure did," called Fennekin, as it trotted over to the group.
Riolu smiled and moved closer to Fennekin.
"I knew you could do it," said the aura Pokémon, smiling.
Fennekin and Riolu laughed playfully for a brief moment, when suddenly...Fennekin's body was enveloped in white light.
"Huh?" said Louis, as he turned his head to the light.
From the stands, Suzuki's eyes widened.
"No way!" he exclaimed.
"It's...evolving!" gasped Janet.
Fennekin began to morph in appearance, as it was now standing on two legs, instead of four. Its tail grew and the tufts of orange fur in its ear increased in shape and size.
Soon, the white light dimmed down to reveal Fennekin's newly evolved form.
What Louis saw made his jaw drop.
"Oh...my..." stuttered Louis.
A voice from the stands now made itself known.
"Yeah yeah.. hurry up and get off the field, kid."
It was from Simon.
"Hey, shut up Simon!" another unknown voice yelled.
Soon after, a ringing sound emitted around the arena.
"Ok students," the professor began. "We will be having a fifteen-minute break."
"Remember to stretch! Right, Coach?" he finished.
The man in training attire signalled a 'thumbs-up'.
After a short trip to the Pokémon Centre to heal Louis' Pokémon, the Serranos and friends gathered in a small group, while Roy began the suggested stretching, walking awkwardly as he did.
"So...do any of you have a Pokédex?" asked Louis.
"I do," responded Suzuki, pulling a Pokédex from his pocket.
"Here."
"Thanks," said Louis.
He held the Pokédex, with the camera facing the newly evolved Fennekin.
Soon, a picture of the evolved Pokémon appeared on the screen as an electronic voice began to speak.
"Braixen, the Fox Pokémon and the evolved form of Fennekin. To defeat its opponent, Braixen combines the flame from the twig in its tail with its fiery breath, creating a massive Fire Spin."
"Cool," said Louis, under a hushed breath.
"I heard that," Braixen spoke, grinning.
Louis returned the electronic device to Suzuki. Then, the top student saw a figure with purple hair approaching.
It was Violet.
"Hey, guys," she said, sitting with the group.
"Are you ok, Violet?" asked Roy.
Violet sighed.
"Not really. I hoped that if I could beat Simon, I'd give Suzuki a good chance at winning."
"Um, what about the rest of us?" voiced Louis.
"Of course, you guys too," replied Violet.
"...and your Pokémon?" inquired Suzuki. "Are they ok?"
"Yeah, they're fine," answered Violet. "But Nurse Joy suggested that we stay away from battles for a while."
Louis felt as if someone had begun to boil a kettle inside of his body, as his blood began to bubble. He had been trying his best to refrain from exploding again.
"Uh...son?" said Miguel. "Are you ok?"
Louis immediately snapped out of his trance.
"Huh?" he said. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine."
It was then that Violet noticed that something was different with Louis' team. It only took a few seconds to figure out what it was.
"Did...did your Fennekin evolve?" she asked.
"Yep," replied Louis.
Violet grinned.
"Uh, anyway..." she paused. "I guess during that time, I can focus on one of my passions."
"Passions?" questioned Janet.
"Yeah," answered Violet. "Before I came to the academy, I had a few hobbies and interests."
"Froa-kie?" said Azul.
"Azul said...'Like what?'" translated Louis.
"Well...art is one of them," explained Violet. "Like...painting."
"Art?" blurted Roy. "Why am I only learning of this now?"
"You never asked."
The group chuckled.
"Hey!" said Taki. "That reminds me of someone."
"It does?" inquired Violet.
"Yeah. While we were in Johto..."
Taki paused. She turned her head to Louis, who nodded while mouthing;
"They know about the journey. It's ok."
"...Louis and I found this kid named Tracey Sketchit stuck in a tree," continued Taki. "While we were helping him find his parents, we discovered that he was a really great sketch artist."
Louis thought back to the myriad of sketches by Tracey, and the few he got to keep.
"Oh yeah," added Louis. "We saw him make a sketch of a sunset, Crocanaw back when she was a Totodile, and...me and Venusaur."
Taki eyed the boy carefully, yet no sadness displayed on his face. Louis had finally recovered from the experience.
"Sounds like an interesting kid," said Suzuki.
"Oh, believe me, he was," replied Louis.
The gang turned to Roy.
"What about you?" questioned Suzuki. "Have you got any passions?"
"Me?" wondered Roy. "Hmm. I guess...I always wanted to be a musician."
"Really?" said Louis.
"Uh-huh," Roy spoke. "I like the guitar... my Dad used to play."
"Did he ever teach you any chords or tunes?" asked Louis.
"I was too young... I actually had no idea how a guitar functioned... still kinda don't," answered Roy. "Something about shortening strings to raise pitch and tone...I thought he was just pressing random strings down..."
Suzuki chuckled at this. Of course Roy presumed that.
"Y'know, after this tournament is over, I can teach you a melody," said Janet.
"Really?" responded Roy. "Thanks."
Suzuki pondered for a moment.
"You know something...with this being my last tournament, I'll need to start thinking about my future," he said.
The area fell silent. A pair of eyes stared at the veteran.
"What?"
"...did you say your last tournament?" questioned Louis.
"Yeah," answered Suzuki. "I'll be graduating this year."
"...how come you never told me this before?" asked Louis.
"I didn't know how you would've reacted," explained Suzuki. "I was gonna tell you last week, but...you were..."
"Upset?"
"Yeah."
Azul rubbed the back of its head in shame and embarrassment.
Then, the academy bell rang.
"Attention students," a voice said. "The National Pokémon Academy tournament will start again shortly. Please proceed to the Pokémon gym."
Immediately, the group stood as one and made their way back to the gym.
Wow! Fennekin evolved! Sweet! And...this is Suzuki's last tournament? Let's just hope he doesn't disappoint.
