Happy new year, everyone!

A fortnight passed. Lots of activity was present on the academy's main quadrangle. Conversations about many different topics were carried through the calming breeze. Other trainers studied out in the open, wanting to get rays of sunshine absorbed into their skin. The events of the tournament qualifiers two weeks prior were still fresh in the minds of the students. Many dreamed of having a similar experience of their own in the future.

Three figures stepped out of the campus' main office. Each trainer carried a sheet of paper in hand, with an anticipating smile displayed on their facial features. Taki, Roy and Louis made their way to the island's sakura tree.

"I'm really looking forward to this," said Roy. "What made you guys want to do it as well?"

"I wanted to do it because I felt nostalgic in a way," answered Taki.

Roy peered past the girl to face Louis.

"What about you, Louis?" he asked.

The young adult carefully thought out his answer.

"Let's just say...a friend gave me the idea," he hinted.

Soon after, the blooming cherry blossoms made their presence known to the trio. The wooden bark of the tree grew bigger as they got closer to the organic structure.

As they sat down in the shade, all three individuals turned to one another.

"You ready to do this?" asked Taki.

"Yep," answered Louis.

"More than you know," added Roy.

One by one, the trainers brought every single one of their loyal companions out of their Pokéballs. Once they were visible, the Pokémon caught sight of their trainers and their eager smiles.

"What's got you three so happy?" asked Feraligatr.

After Taki translated the large alligator Pokémon's question, Roy began a little speech to the company of powerful beasts.

"For the past few weeks, us trainers have come together for a common purpose," he began, dramatically.

"We have been hard at work, attempting to provide something of importance to you majestic Pokémon," continued Roy.

All of the creatures stared at the musician, confused and uncertain.

"Star-raptor?" said Staraptor.

"She said, 'Say what?'" translated Louis.

Taki chortled, attempting to contain her laughter. Once she had eased herself, she continued on from her friend's speech.

"What Roy is trying to say is that the three of us have been planning on doing something...special," she explained.

"Special? In what way?" inquired Lycanroc.

"Without giving too much away, ...it's an adventurous kind of special," clarified Taki.

Inteleon and Dragonite looked to one another.

"I think I know what's going on here," said Inteleon.

"Same here," replied Dragonite.

"I'm not sure if I do..." added Incineroar.

Louis rolled his eyes, but with a grin. He rolled his sheet of paper like a scroll and cleared his throat.

"This is what we've been planning," he said.

He placed a few fingers on the edge of the scroll as it unravelled, revealing the written text printed onto the sheet.

"Behold," he cheered.

The paper had the words 'National Pokémon Academy World Excursion' written in big, bold words.

Then, the remaining individuals revealed their sheets of paper to the Pokémon. Azul, Cinderace and Inteleon each retrieved the sheets of paper, as the party read through the contents of the printed paper. Once they had finished reading, the group of Pokémon turned to their trainers with hope and anticipation in their eyes.

"You guys are actually serious about this?" asked Azul.

Louis nodded and said, "You bet we are."

A chuckle rang out from Feraligatr's mouth.

"I think I'm beginning to see why you guys are doing this," she said. "It reminds me of our trip back in Johto."

"Yeah. That's basically the reason why I'm doing this," replied Taki.

"Sounds like something you three would enjoy," said Staraptor.

"Us three?" questioned Louis.

"Well yeah, I mean..." Staraptor paused.

Sensing the issue, Louis understood everything and smiled.

"Staraptor, who said we'd be going alone?" said Louis.

A widened stare from the bird Pokémon met the young adult. Soon, the rest of the beasts turned to their respective trainers.

"You guys are actually gonna bring us along with you?" asked Braixen.

"Of course we are," answered Louis. "We're a team, and we always will be."

"Yeah. Nobody gets left behind when we're around," added Taki.

"It'll give us a chance to actually see the world, instead of being crammed on this small island," joked Roy.

Like before, Taki tried to contain her laughter. However, her efforts would fail this time. She cracked up in a laughing fit. Soon, Louis followed suit, then the Pokémon joined in. Roy blushed and chuckled as well. As the rest of the party continued in their playful laughter. Roy unknowingly retrieved his guitar, planning on strumming a little tune on the acoustic instrument.

He remembered a little melody that his father had played for him when he was just a small child. Recollecting the notes that stood out the most, the musicians carefully strummed to the sounds of his friends' happiness. However, three bars in, a string broke with a comical twang.

The sound of the string breaking reached the rest of the party as they turned to the musician.

"...ignore that," he said, sheepishly.

They didn't, and the band of friends laughed one more time. As he laughed, Louis took one final look at his team of Pokémon, remembering the day they first met, up to where they are now. The young adult lowered his head, closed his eyes and grinned.

"I'm glad we're together again..." he said to himself.

He then flicked his eyelids open and stared at his team of Pokémon with confidence in his heart and said;

"...ready?"
