Chapter 13
After her surprising meeting with Bakugou at the hospital, Uraraka did her best to pull herself together again. It was frustrating, but he did have a point that it didn't help her or her parents to stay at the hospital for too long when she had to focus on becoming a hero as well.
The nurse had reassured her that her parents weren't in any danger anymore and that they would be taken care of. Even though she felt more at ease, it wasn't easy for her to leave them like that. She had hoped to see them wake up before she had to leave them again. She sat next to them both, holding their hands before she begrudgingly left them, promising that she would return as soon as they woke up.
Uraraka had asked the nurse to call her as soon as they knew something or when any of them opened their eyes.
A lot had happened in just a few days and when Uraraka finally got home, she was exhausted. The rest of the week would be tough to go through, she still had a ton of homework to do and they had quirk training as well. Uraraka groaned as she plummeted her face into her pillow, letting the cool feel of the fabric calm her down.
She woke up all groggy, not really knowing where she was. As she looked around, she was reminded that she was back home in her apartment. It was already dark outside.
How long was I sleeping?
She found her phone and saw that it was past nine already, how had she been sleeping for so long? She must have been more tired than anticipated, she didn't even realise she fell asleep, to begin with.
She stretched her body to wake up properly before she noticed that her phone was filled with messages from her friends in their group chat, asking her about the date with Deku. How did they get to know about that? Ah, Mina, you blabbermouth. And later there were a lot of worried messages about her parents. Really, you couldn't keep anything from those girls.
Uraraka sighed as she answered them with slow movement while typing. She wrote just enough to tell them about the date and her parents being at the hospital. She flopped back on the bed when she sent the text and closed her eyes shortly.
The date with Midoriya had been fun, she thought and her mind went to the end of the date when they were about to say goodbye. It seemed like they would have been close to kissing if it hadn't been for the phone call. The thought made her fingers touch her lips. Would she have kissed Midoriya?
A buzzing from her phone startled her, and she jumped up to see a message from Mina in their group chat.
[From Mina]: I just had the best idea guys! Let's have a girl's night!
[From Hagakure]: Yes! Then we can ask about the details of Ura's date
[From Momo]: Oh, that's a wonderful idea! We can meet up at my place
Uraraka chuckled slightly as she read their messages. Their enthusiasm was kind of cute.
[From Uraraka]: I guess I have no choice, huh
[From Jiro]: Then it's decided! We'll meet up at Momo's Friday afternoon
Uraraka got up to brush her teeth and went back towards her bed with heavy steps. On her way back she stopped when she stood by the window in her apartment where she could see Bakugou's window from across the street. She notices his silhouette walking past the window. Watching him from afar, Uraraka touches her lips again, thinking about her dream from earlier and at the end of the date with Midoriya. Would I have kissed him?
She stands there for a while before she goes under the covers in her bed and lets herself fall asleep.

Friday afternoon, Uraraka was going to get ready for girl's night with her friends from class. She had already packed a bag full of overnight stuff, and even though Yaoyorozu had promised all of them that she would be able to supply them with whatever they could possibly need for such an evening, Uraraka felt like it would be best if she went to the store to pick a few last things up before heading towards Yaoyorozu's place.
Uraraka was really looking forward to having a relaxing evening with her friends. She could really need it. Everything had been so tense at school this week ever since she got back after visiting her parents.
It had been extremely awkward between Midoriya and her ever since she had to rush away from the end of their date because of the phone call, it was like she didn't quite know how to act around him and it felt like he shared that same feeling with her.
At least it hadn't been that awkward between her and Bakugou anymore. She thought while looking at a pack of new toothbrushes in the store. Her mind had been wandering without her even realising where she stood.
"Are your parents okay?" A voice said not too far away from where she stood, a voice Uraraka recognized immediately and it made her almost drop the package of toothbrushes she was holding before she had the chance to turn around to look at red eyes and blond spiky hair.
"Bakugou! You're here … I mean … Of course you're here! I see you standing right here."
Oh yeah, it wasn't awkward with Bakugou at all.
Bakugou raised an eyebrow at her questionably before he grabbed a package of toothbrushes as well.
"Maybe I should ask if you were okay instead?" a quick smile started to play on his face as he looked at her with those eyes.
Uraraka took a deep breath and tried her best to calm herself down again before she opened her big mouth again.
"Yeah, I'm good, I'm all good, thanks," a short pause went by before Uraraka reacted to Bakugou's initial question.
"And my parents should be okay as well, thank you. The doctor will call me when there's anything new to report." Uraraka fumbled with the toothbrush package and pretended like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
Bakugou made a movement with his lips that could almost seem like a smile as he looked at how Uraraka was focusing on the pack of toothbrushes.
"That's great. Well, see ya later, Cheeks," he took one of the packages and tapped her head with it lightly before he headed towards the cashier and left the store.
Uraraka stood almost flabbergasted at the same spot she was left in as her eyes followed Bakugou walking away. Her hand slowly went up to touch where her head was tapped.
"Yeah, see ya," she whispered.

"Not that this isn't great, girls, but we've been here for more than an hour already and Uraraka, you still haven't told us about what happened on your date with Deku," Hagakure finally exclaimed while she was applying a sheeted face mask, revealing only very little of her facial features.
"Yeah, what happened? Did he like the outfit I helped you with?" Mina practically wiggled her eyebrows, looking up from polishing her nails.
Uraraka could feel an initial electricity go through her body by the sudden attention that was brought to her as her friends all started to look at her with those big curious eyes that were anticipating a romantic story they could gush over.
"What did you end up doing?" Jiro asked, the magazine she had been reading was on her lap.
"Did you perhaps end up kissing, ribbit?" Tsuyu asked with a finger to her lips, a small blush was dusting her cheeks.
Uraraka was almost feeling dizzy from all the questions, and she had to grab some juice to get a break.
"Okay, okay, I'll tell you all what happened," she finally said.
Uraraka looked around as she took a deep breath, thinking a week back, to when the date was scheduled. Without really thinking about it, she started talking about what happened at the gym with Bakugou before Midoriya showed up and she started to fumble with her fingertips as she did so. Afterward, she told about Midoriya's reaction to her outfit, how they went roller skating, how they held hands, how they later danced on the machine against each other, how they sat down at the cute little café and how they got back together. And when she got to the end, she paused for a moment. She hadn't told any of them about what had happened to her parents. Yet. She didn't want to cause people to worry too much, so she had just mentioned a personal problem as the cause for her absence.
"When we stood by the front door to the building and said goodbye, he leaned closer and if it hadn't been for my phone calling, he might have kissed me," she finally decided to say in the end.
"A phone call? What kind of phone call was it?" Yaoyorozu asked as she detected the change in Uraraka's tone.
"Ah, uhm, it was a personal call. Nothing too serious," Uraraka avoided and it seemed like the girls let it pass. Either because they truly believed it really wasn't anything important, or because they could feel they shouldn't press on the matter.
"So, did you want to kiss Deku?" Mina asked with a raised eyebrow, changing the subject and ending the slightly awkward silence, in a way only she could handle.
Uraraka looked down at her fluffy fingertips and fidgeted a bit, considering the question for longer than she would have imagined she would.
"I don't know."
"You don't know? You've had a crush on him since the beginning of the first year," Hagakure intervened, the mouth opening from the sheet mask moving was the only indication that she was talking.
"Yeah, you're right … I don't know."
"Does this have anything to do with Bakugou?" Tsuyu asked.
Uraraka's heart almost jumped up in her throat by the sudden question. A question she had not anticipated.
"Wha-what? What are you talking about?" Uraraka had to control herself to not let herself float up to the ceiling. She could feel her face heating up like a kettle.
Tsuyu looked at Uraraka with those big eyes of hers as if she was looking right through her.
"I was just wondering," her tone wasn't accusing of anything. It was more like a thought than anything else, but just from the hidden insinuation by it, Uraraka could feel her heart pound against her chest.
"Wait, wait, wait, what!? Uraraka, do you have anything going on with Bakugou? And what about Midoriya?" Mina gasped, getting excited about the possible drama unfolding.
"No! No, it isn't like that!" Uraraka flapped her hands in front of her face, trying to calm the situation and her heart down. But back in her mind, she couldn't help but ask herself. Was there really something going on between her and Bakugou?
"Then what about the training session with Bakugou?" Yaoyorozu asked and the other girls nodded furiously in agreement.
"We're heroes-to-be and of course we need to train with people we can improve with, right?" Uraraka was nudging her finger pads together.
"Then what's with the blushing?" Mina pressed, her cheeky smile starting to show. She loved this more than Uraraka wanted her to.
"I'm not!" Uraraka held her cheeks in her hands, and she could feel the heat emanating from them.
"In fact, I will text him and find a day to train, and I can assure you I would not have been able to do that if I did like him," She found her phone and flipped it open as a way of protest and when she looked through her contacts she realized something.
"So do any of you have his number?" She asked, fighting the blush from her cheeks to get back.
"Oh yeah, here you go," Mina whipped her smartphone out and found Bakugou under her contacts in a matter of seconds. She handed her phone over so Uraraka could type in the information.
"You even have Bakugou's number, Mina?" Hagakure sounded surprised.
"Of course I do, he's Kirishima's best friend."
"Is that actually confirmed by Bakugou as well?" Jiro suddenly asked with a small smile on her lips.
"I doubt you would get him to actually say the words," Mina giggled as she received her phone from Uraraka and the others agreed to what she said. It wasn't like they could imagine Bkaugou voicing out loud that Kirishima was his best friend or how important they seemed to be to each other.
Uraraka stared at her phone for an extra moment when she had typed in Bakugou's name and number before she wrote her text. She didn't want to think too much about this, so she quickly constructed a text, asking if they could train together this weekend.
"There! See? Easy," Uraraka put her phone back.
The girls cheered for her shortly, and they laughed.
"Soo, while we're waiting for our explosive Bakugou to respond to Uraraka's training date request," a quick protest was heard from Uraraka in the background, "Mina, what's going on with you and Kirishima?" Jiro asked.
"Aaahh, nothing yet. He doesn't really get my signals at all. A few days ago I asked if he wanted to go to the café together and he literally said 'sure thing bro that sounds great. Do you mind if I invite Sero and Kaminari as well?'" Mina groaned.
"That guy is a bit thick," Hagakure laughed.
"He sure is," Mina agreed.
"But he's a great guy. I'm sure that his feelings reciprocate yours, and when he finally gets it, you'll be a great couple," Yaoyorozu said with a smile.
"Thank you," Mina smiled radiantly, "I hope so too."
Uraraka could feel her phone vibrate, and her heart jumped, putting her focus to concentrate on her flip phone in her hand. The voices from the girls, gushing over each other's love life was fading in the background and all she could think of was the possibility that Bakugou had answered her text.
She opened her phone with slightly sweaty hands and smiled to herself.
[From Bakugou]: Meet me tomorrow before noon.
"What are you smiling about over there?" Hagakure asked as she was about to remove the face mask from her face.
Uraraka quickly glanced up from the phone to see the girls all looking at her and she quickly closed the phone. She could answer him later when she had more privacy.
"Nothing at all," she said.

Bakugou Katsuki lied on the ground of the training ground, sweating and panting furiously after a heavy training session. That's what he loved when it became Friday, he had the time to take an extra-long training session in the evening so he could push himself and his quirk properly.
And after this week he just had gone through he had really needed to get some pent-up frustration out in the form of training.
As Bakugou was trying to catch his breath, he heard his phone vibrate in his bag, so he pushed himself up on his feet to be met with a message from an unknown number. When he opened it and read it, he couldn't control his smile. Maybe this week could still get better by the end after all.
[From XXXX XXXX]: Hi, Bakugou, this is Uraraka. I got your number from Mina. I wanted to ask about that training session we talked about? Are you up for it one of these days?
He didn't even have to think about it before his sweaty fingers started to dance across the screen and he sent his answer. Yup, this wouldn't be bad at all.
