Again, I don't own Zelda or associated characters, Nintendo does.
Link emerged through the wall. He was still being pulled by the hand, he saw now, the being that owned it was a heavily hunchbacked black creature, with a flat mask with more strange markings where the face should be. It was as big as a small bear and had something that resembled black hair on behind the shape with markings, it had one hand on the ground. This being probably walked on all fours. And the world looked different too, it was like everything had an orange filter to it, and strange particles floated around, everything looked creepy. Links hand glowed, it was his left, where he had a mark in the shape of the Triforce, the holy relic left by the golden goddesses. The monster threw Link away as if the light from his hand hurt it. Link landed on the forest floor. He tried to get up, but starting from his legs he felt weird. And suddenly there lay a wolf, and Link was gone, but, the wolf had this same mark on its left paw. Link had turned into a beast.
Waking up, Link noticed two things, one, he was a wolf, which alarmed him a little, and two, he was chained up in a prison-like chamber in a dungeon. His eyes grew in shock, he tried to get the chain off, he moved and jumped around like mad, but the chains didn't budge, they weren't rusty and old, but brand new, unbreakable. "There you are!" A happy girly voice mused. Looking up, Link found the owner of the voice. An imp, she -Link hoped it was a female-, smiled up at him, she had two teeth sticking out of her mouth, they were sharp. She had red eyes and orange, almost fiery hair. A helmet or crown, Link wasn't sure, rested on her head, it was broken, and one of her eyes was covered by a piece of the face part of the helmet that hadn't broken off. "Hello, little wolf!" She continued, still seeming really happy. Link growled at her, she laughed. "Now, being compliant yet, are you?" She asked. "I can assist you with your new form. But you need to follow my instructions exactly." She said. "And, as long as you are a wolf, you can talk to me and animals, only animals and me." She informed link. "Now, if you want to help me, I'll calm down." Link said, feeling surprised that a wolf could talk. "There, that's better." Midna laughed. She put her left hand with the palm up under her right hand, of which the palm faced the other hand. She appeared to be concentrating very hard. A red ball of energy appeared between her hands, and she blasted it at Link's paw. And the chain broke in two. He could move again. Before Link could say anything, Midna flew right through the cell bars. "Come on, get over here!" She giggled. "And how do you expect me to do that?" Link questioned. "I can't exactly pass through objects like they're not there." He continued. "I know." Midna laughed again. Link looked around the cell, in the corner, on the opposite end of the bars, under it, he spotted loose dirt, he was a wolf, he could probably dig through it. He went to the box and clawed at it, the box was old and fell apart at the least amount of touch. He dug in the dirt and after a few minutes, he made himself a pathway. "There you go!" Midna cheered while jumping up on Link's back. "Hey! I'm no horse!" Link complained. "Well, you humans don't always treat animals fairly, right? And right now, you're an animal." Midna explained. "Fine then, as long as you don't sit on my head when I eventually am human again, I'm OK with it." Link sighed, they headed to the next cell over, they couldn't leave via the door, but in this cell, there was a grate that also seemed to be able to break at the slightest touch. When the gate opened, Link ran through, still carrying Midna on his back. They ended up in the sewer system of the castle. "Look over there!" Midna pointed to a blue-tinted ball flouting where a person's head would be. "Look, focus your senses to here." Midna touched his forehead, in the middle between his eyes and a little up. "What do you mean?" Link questioned. "Just focus on that spot." Midna repeated. Link tried, nothing. "C'mon." Midna sounded bored. And again, this time it worked, the blue ball turned into a blue-tinted man, wearing a guard uniform. "See, there you are!" Midna smiled. "What use has this?" Link asked. "You'll see later." Midna giggled. Moving on along the pathway, Link noticed that the sewer system was dry, only a centimeter of water or so. "A sewer should be fuller. Why is there no water her?" He wondered out loud, turning the first corner. A steel fence greeted him, stretching from the floor to the ceiling, on the other side, where the raised pathway they were standing on continued, there was a gate in the fence, it was open, so Link jumped over the sewer floor, which still had a centimeter of water on it, to the other side of the raised pathway. He continued forward, a few meters after the gate, there was a four-way. One lead to a dead-end, the other lead onward, but there were spikes on the floor there, the last way, headed towards a large portcullis without holes in it, behind which you could hear the sound of running water. Link walked towards it and saw a big lever against the wall. "How do I pull that down? I have no hands." Link asked. "My hair." Midna explained, while her little hairdo transformed into an enormous orange-tinted hand. "Huh." Link sighed. Midna's hair hand-pulled on the lever and the gate went up, water streamed through and made it so that Link could pass over the water. "That is handy." Link said, jumping in the water stream. He swam over the spikes and again found himself at a four-way. And again, one led to a dead-end, the other lead to another portcullis, but this one was already raised. And the last one was the way forward, but this time, iron bars of another fence stopped advancement, and this time there was no gate. "And now? "Link questioned. "There." Midna pointed to a passageway Link could crawl through, but it was underwater. "Go there and I'll help you lift that switch." Midna said. So Link went, again, off of the chosen path, towards a gate and switch, once there, Midna's hair pulled the switch up, and the portcullis moved down, sucking in the water, Link nor Midna didn't understand how it worked. But, they could advance. And they walked back towards the other way, to the crawling space Midna pointed out. Getting close, Midna fazed through the massive iron bars, saying. "I'm not going through that crawlspace with you." Link didn't protest, they wouldn't fit in there with two, so Link crawled through the passageway and came out where Midna was waiting on him, she jumped on his back again. "Well done! Now, let's move on!" She said in a cheerful tone while doing so. They advanced, this time, they entered a tall cylindrical space, there was a staircase leading up, actually, Link saw, there used to be one. "How are we going to get up?" Link pondered. "You can jump." Midna said. "Yes, but aren't those gaps to big." "Not at all, don't forget you are a wolf, you can jump farther then humans." So Link tried, and fell a few times, but eventually he reached the top. "Now, there we are." Link huffed and puffed. "And now." He questioned. "There, they left the door open, how friendly." Midna pointed towards a door leading to the outside world. And again Link noticed that the world was covered in an orange tint, like twilight forever shun on the world, and those black particles floated around, seemingly forever. "What happened to the world? I noticed before, but hadn't thought of asking yet." Link said, looking questioningly at Midna. "My king, who usurped my throne, thought of your world of light badly, and he invaded your world. We are twili, people of the world of shadow, the Twilight Realm. But that's enough for now, I'll tell you more later." Midna explained. "OK." Link nodded. They headed on, and Link saw after a while that, they were on a castle's upper levels. "Were are we?" Link asked. "The castle of your rulers. Hyrule castle I believe." Midna said. Midna didn't see it, but Link's eyes grew, this is the place he needed to go to, and he made it, but not how he intended. "Head there." Midna pointed to a higher tower about 650 meters away. "What's there?" "The one who made this happen." Midna giggled. Link walked on, over the castles rooftops. finally, he arrived at a broken window in the tower, he climbed into it and in doing so entered the tower. "Up the stairs please!" Midna commanded, she giggled a little while saying this, she was apparently enjoying commanding Link a lot. Link headed up the stairs and found a door. He pushed it open, there stood a cloaked figure, looking outside of a big window. The figure turned around. "Midna? Why are you back?" It spoke, it was a female voice. "Is this the one you were searching for?" She said. Link assumed it was a woman. "Yes, he's more stubborn than I hoped but he'll do." Midna explained. "Would you explain what you did, princess?" Midna asked the woman. The woman looked at Link. "i am princess Zelda, ruler of this land. And the twilight you see outside is partly my fault." Princess Zelda started. "Would you explain what happened now?" Midna asked. "Yes, yes Midna. Well. At lunch, while walking down in the park a few days ago, the general of the guard called for defensive positions. My best soldiers stood guard inside and outside of the throne room. And we heard Screaming from below. The same orange tint crept up the castle, together with the monsters advance, Midna told me you were pulled into the twilight by one, so you know how they look like, but anyway. The throne room was reached, and the beasts took out my men one by one, and finally their leader came. A male figure, hulled in a long robe with the twilit markings on them, just like the creatures faces, or where their face should be, the man also had a helmet on, a face part that extended up to a curl up above his head. And a part in front his mouth, that to me, looked like it could be put up, so the wearer could speak clearer. His name is Zant, the usurper king of the Twilight Realm. He gave me a choice, as he put it. "Surrender, and your people will live, or do not surrender, and your people will live in fear, or death." Is what he said, meaning my soldiers would die, my people would be left defenseless, and he'd become king of Hyrule, or, we could surrender, and my people and I would live in twilight forever.. I chose to surrender, now the whole world, except your province of Ordonna, is covered in twilight." Zelda explained, it must've took half an hour. "So, your decision made this happen?" Link asked, he wasn't sure Zelda would understand him, but she nodded. "Yes, my decision to help my people, made everything like this." "So sad, now, we'll head off." Midna said, faking sadness. "To where, and how will we get there?" Link asked. "Back to where you first entered twilight." Midna explained. And before link could ask something, a portal, he assumed, appeared above him and sucked him in, Midna followed soon after, closing the portal forever.
And the portal appeared again, but now in Ordon spring, Link was shocked to find out he was still a wolf. "I didn't turn back?" He exclaimed. "No you didn't." Midna laughed, from Link's shadow, not able to be seen, apparently light hurt her. "But how?" Link asked. "You must save an area of twilight to turn back, but first, I think the light spririt wants to talk to you." Midna explained. "The wha-" Link started, but a ball of light floated up from the pond, and turned into a glowing white goat, the ball of light resting between it's horns. "I am Ordona." It spoke. "I am the light spirit that protects this province, I, along with three others, was tasked by the goddess Hylia to protect the land, but my brethren were attacked by evil creatures, and the light was stolen. I task you, blue-eyed beast, to free my companions from this fate." It explained, then, only was a ball again, and disappeared into the pond again. "Huh, why are my eyes important to this." Link pondered, Midna didn't respond. "Now, before you help this 'noble being'. You're going to find a sword and shield, for me of course, at least until you are human again." Midna said, "I have an idea where to find a sword and shield." Link said, heading down the path that was so familiar to him, towards Ordon. At his house, two green creatures, like the ones Link saw when Ordon spring was attacked just a few days ago. They noticed Link, and decided to attack. Link, not used to fighting as a wolf, just bit, and luckily got an arm in his mouth, he pulled on it, and the creature had a wound deep wound in its arm. The other one attacked now, this time, Link mixed it up, he jumped forward and bit, he got it by the neck, he let go and the monster fell limp on the ground, the first one, with the mauled arm, was still alive, but Link made quick work of it, and it also fell limp on the floor. "Past here lies my village, that there is my home." Link explained to Midna. "Alright, at least we wont get lost then, or are you not that smart?" Midna said, with a little sarcasm. "You're not too nice yet are you." Link said. "No." Midna answered. Link headed over to Ordon village. Arriving there, he saw that almost everyone was still up. Mayor Bo was talking about something to Talo and Malo's dad, Uli and Rusl were on their porch, also talking about something. And Beth's father was on the hill, on the lookout, for any monsters. "OK, Rusl has a sword or two, on is always with him, but the other is in his home, so we'll find a shield first, that should be at where Mayor Bo is talking." Link thought out loud. "As long as you don't end up dead." Midna commented. Link headed towards Mayor Bo and Talo and Malo's dad. They were scared off, but Link couldn't enter via the front door, but Midna noticed something. "There, that window's open, and you could jump it if you tried." "Alright, we'd have to get rid of Hanch though, that eagle will do anything he tells it to." Midna nodded to this comment. Link headed off, but got spotted by Hanch. "You're here to take more right? Give me my daughter back!" He yelled at Link, mistaking him for one of the creatures, Link quickly ran away. "We can try sneaking up from behind." Link asked Midna. "Good idea. You're not useless after all." Midna answered. Link sneaked behind the man, and it had the desired effect, he ran away from Link and into the pond a few meters away. Now Link could jump up onto the waterwheel, and ride it up to the roof. He got onto the roof and walked through the window, he dropped down onto the dinner table, from which he had a perfect way to get the handmade shield of Talo and Malo's father. He charged the wall and hit it, the shield shot loose of its holder and it fell to the floor. "There we are, a shield. Finally." Midna sighed. "You know, if I was a human, this would be more easy." Link climbed back up the roof and jumped off, he saw that Rusl was standing guard near the passageway to Link's house. And Uli was sitting with Sera by the little lake, so the sword would be unprotected. Link quietly moved towards the Rusl and Uli's house, there, again, the door was locked, but by the side, there was a patch of soft soil, and if Link remembered well, the floor was broken and showed the same soft soil, and Link was right, he got into the house and found the sword. "There we are." Link said. "You've got your sword and shield." "YOUR sword, kid. I'll keep them for you until you're human again." Midna said. "Let's get back to my lovely twilight, shall we?" She said. "Good." Link agreed, he wanted to be human again fast.
Arriving back at the wall of blackness, Link looked at Midna. "How am I going to get through?" He asked. "I can pull you through when I go through, wait here." And she disappeared into the twilight. A few minutes later, Midna's hair-hand appeared again, and it pulled Link through the wall. There he was again, on the same ground he transformed into a wolf for the first time, and Midna was on his back again too. But this time, there was no shadow beast. "Huh, no beast to speak of." Link said. "It's at Hyrule castle, guarding your cell, and not you." Midna winked at Link, a first sign of friendship. "C'mon, lets find that spirit shall we?" Midna continued. So they walked, and right before Faron spring, where the spirit probably resided, three of those creatures with markings on a plate where their face should be. "And how do I fight these?" Link asked, "I'll help you, just don't leave one of them alive, it'll just scream until the others get revived." Midna explained. Link did exactly as he was told, biting the first enemy in the neck, and using its body to leap to the next, and after biting its throat, he leapt to the last one, and it also fell, they were dead. and above them, the portal that made the creatures able to leave turned green, and Midna explained that they could use that portal now. There was the spring, and of course, another glowing ball rested, but was f, and gold instead of white, and glowed only faintly. "Blue-eyed beast, hero chosen by the gods. I am the light spirit Faron, dark creatures stole my light, and that stolen light now takes form in bugs, not visible without focus." It started. "I task you with finding my light, and in doing so, restore the light to this forest." It vanished. "See, that's why I told you to learn to focus your senses on that spot." Midna explained, proud at her forward thinking. "Now, focus!" She commanded. Link did so, and on the road towards the little hut of the lantern salesman he already saw two of these creatures. "How do I return the light?" Link asked. "Kill them." Midna explained, she seemed bored. Link did so, and the little creatures formed balls of dark blue energy, which floated to Link and got absorbed into him. "There you go!" Midna cheered. After another four light bugs, two in the lantern salesman's hut and a one outside the hut, link entered the long tunnel that formed the passageway towards the open forest area where he first found the humanoid pig monsters. In that tunnel, no bugs were found, but right after, at the start of the more open forest, Link saw two more light creatures on the wall, he got them off and got the stolen light back. afterwards, he looked over the woods, but they were covered in a purple mist that looked poisonous. "not going in there." Link decided, Midna nodded. "Yep, that's not smart." Link observed the scene and he saw a path leading over the mist, that's to say, pillars and tree branches. After leaping his way across, he found another two more light bugs around the middle of his jumping journey, and two more at the other end, close to the path that lead to the old temple. And there, he found more shadow beasts, he used the neck biting technique again and another portal became his again. And at the temple entrance, he found the last two light creatures, after he absorbed their light, he suddenly appeared at Faron spring again, human again, but he didn't notice yet. "Brave Link, Blue-eyed beast, I thank you for returning my light, this forest is now free from twilight. Now, the garb you wear is from the old hero of legend, the hero of time, but now you dawn the garb of the hero, you are the hero chosen by the gods, and the power you and your companion seek, lays in the temple of old located in the north of the forest." Is what the light spirit said. "No problem." Link muttered, as the light spirit disappeared into the spring again.
