I don't own the Zelda series or associated characters, Nintendo does.
and so they headed out of Faron, a short walk from the lantern salesman's hut there was a path towards the outside world, which is what the Ordonians called it, the path opened up to a field, with was named Hyrule field, named after the kingdom it was a part of. "We're not getting there today, that is it there, pretty far away." Link said, pointing toward the fiery mountain in the distance. "Very well then, you can rest when you're halfway." Midna said from Links shadow. "Halfway, that's a whole day of walking before I get to stop." Link complained. "NO, my word is rule." Midna exploded, popping out of Links shadow to yell at him in her physical form. "Alright, alright, stop halfway." Link agreed, his shoulders down in defeat.
While walking, Link observed his surroundings, and saw some trees gathered on a small hill, and from behind that hill, he heard the sound of running water, maybe a big pond or a river. And he was right, behind the hill, there was a pond, not too deep, but not too small either, he scooped some up in the bottle Sera had given him in Ordon and headed off, again towards the Death Mountain, which lay in the Eldin province. A little while later, A horn blew, and some creatures of the like that attacked Ordon on those little hogs, appeared a few meters from Link, they commanded their mounts to stop and got off of them, the animals formed a road block, that is to say, if you're able to get through the green, club and bow wielding monsters. Link decided to go with an offensive plan, since they weren't going to attack him. He ran forward, sword in front of him, of course immediately stabbing the poor enemy he ran into, he pulled his sword out of the monster, which laid dead on the grass, and shifted his attention to the rest. One got an arrow ready, so Link didn't see it was an arrow with an oily cloth around it, making it a fire arrow, so when his shield caught the arrow, it burned up and he was left defenseless. He decided to end things quickly, he stabbed the archer and immediately after slashed at one who was aiming for a hit to Link's skull. The battle was over, but at a large cost, Link was now defenseless, his shield burned up thanks to the fire arrow. He decided not to think about it and sheathed his blade on his back and continued on his little trip. About an hour later, it was again getting close to evening, and at that moment Link rounded a corner in a mountain pass he was walking through, and there it was, the wall of black, with golden symbols on it. "Well, here it is! Let us go!" Midna said happily, going through the wall and pulling Link with her.
Once in the Twilight Realm, Link fell to his knees, and felt something agonizing, his body was changing, and not in a harmless way. His transformation into a wolf, how brief it was hurt like hell. "Hmm. Couldn't you have warned me it'd hurt?" Link asked once his transformation was complete. "I thought you'd know, since you transformed once before." Midna answered. "I was concentrating more on the horror that'd pulled me through then, couldn't think about pain." Link answered. "Well. Let's go." Midna said, spurring Link to speed. They headed through the remainder of the pass, and at the point the pass opened up into another field there lay an object, Link smelled Talo and Malo and Beth with his wolf senses. "I know that, that was my training sword!" Link said, sprinting faster than ever. "Calm, boy. Calm yourself." Midna said in an exhausted tone. "Yes this is definitely Talo, Malo and Beth's scent, they're up ahead!" Link said, after inspecting the blade. "Well, we need to go that way, so c'mon! Go ahead!" Midna said, while Link already sprinted away. But at the chasm they found no bridge, only a part of the railing, and not to mention more shadow beasts. With Midna's help, Link dispatched of the beasts quickly. "Alright, half a bridge, where could it be?" Midna asked more to herself than to Link. "I remember something resembling a bridge in Faron, near the old temple, right next to where th…" Link said. And before he'd finished his sentence he was himself turning into twilight particles. And at the old temple he re-materialized into his wolf form again. And indeed there was a bridge stuffed away in the trees there, Midna and Link decided to take it back to Eldin and fix the bridge. Back at the gorge, Link and Midna appeared again, with the bridge falling in to it's place over the gorge, making the gorge passable. And allowing Link and Midna to cross, and, hopefully finally find the spring of the Eldin light spirit. They continued onward, crossing more field, Link nor Midna knowing what time it was, nor if it was day or night, they just walked, Midna riding on Link's back, while he and his now enhanced wolf endurance carried her towards their next destination. After a few more minutes of travel, they came upon a gate wedged in between two parts of a small mountain range, the above sign was broken, but from Link's memory of old Hylian, it read, Welcome to Kakariko village. "Its a village entrance, but looks like we're not getting in, the gate is shut tight." Link said, explaining his findings to Midna, who looked at Link with a funny expression. "Forgotten you're a wolf, hee hee? You could just dig and be on the other side." She said. Link growled in answer, walking over to the spot she indicated, and started to dig. Once on the other side, Midna followed Link, simply fazing through the gate and landing back on his back. They continued on, through a small mountain pass and into an opening with some houses in between. "This must be that Kakariko we read earlier." Link said. Looking around a bit more, he saw a faint glowing light in what had to be the spring, but the spring here was larger than in either Ordon or Faron. "There's the spring, let's go!" Midna said, spurring Link to go faster, but soon after they were halted by more shadow beasts dropping from the sky, the four beasts surrounded Link, restricting the hero's ability to go to the Eldin spring. "You know what to do!" Midna said, lifting herself from Link's back, and floating half a meter above him. And just like before, with Midna's guidance Link jumped from beast to beast, biting each of their necks quickly, not leaving time for the last one to revive the others. The beasts were defeated, so Link and Midna headed towards the large spring, there they were spoken to again. "Greetings brave youth, as you can see, my light was stolen. I trust you find my light and restore it to this land so you can regain your true form." Eldin spoke, and it's faint light disappeared. "Well, you know what to do!" Midna giggled. "Yeah, yeah." Link sighed, turning to the village. "Are they only going to be here? Or would I have to go further than the town?" Link asked himself, because he knew Midna wouldn't answer. Link decided that the building closest to the spring was a good starting point. It was circular in shape, and had a bell on top of it, some sort of sanctuary. The door was barricaded well, but Midna decided to help for once and found some fragile looking wood covering a damaged part of the roof, Midna helped Link up to the roof and they descended into the sanctuary.
In the sanctuary blue flames floated around, a group of them huddled together, and one pacing from the window to a statue built to resemble the spirit Eldin that was placed in the middle of the room. "Your senses!" Midna reminded Link. Link growled in answer and focused his senses, revealing that the blue flames were Talo, Malo, Colin, Beth and three people who looked like Kakariko locals. "Hey Beth, Beth! Don't cry!" Colin spoke, sitting next to the man comforting Beth. "Link will come and save us. I just feel it." The boy continued. "What do you mean?" Link got knocked out or killed. Why would he come for us?" Talo answered, trying to annoy Colin. "Who cares, this sanctuary of his isn't going to hold, did you see what them monsters thought about my bombs? They just ate them!" The pacing man spoke, pointing to the man comforting Beth. "Barnes!" Beth's comforter yelled. "Would you please close that mouth of yours? Basically threatening these kids so they'd stop talking isn't going to help. "Yeah yeah. Have it your way Renado." Barnes answered. "Hey Barnes, shouldn't you be guarding from your window outpost?" The final Kakariko Local spoke, it was a girl a year or two older than Colin, so about 10 or 11. "What do you mean?" Barnes answered. "Well, she's suggesting you continue with the simple task I gave you 20 minutes ago." Renado answered. "But that'd be dangerous, couldn't we hide out in the basement?" Barnes answered, lighting the candles on the wall, which seemed to magically move the statue, revealing it stood on a hole in the floor, with a ladder leading to the sanctuary's basement. "I wouldn't go down there if I was you, I saw some weird bugs down there." The girl spoke. "What did you say Luda? weird bugs?" Barnes answered, suddenly frightened, speeding as far away from the hole as he could. "Renado, how do you close the basement entrance?" Barnes continued in a state of panic. "Not." Renado answered. "N-n not?!" Barnes stuttered. "Yes, not, only close-able from the basement." Renado said, with a smile on his face. "Well, that's enough, get a move on!" Midna chimed in, making Link lose focus. "Yeah yeah, basement." Link answered, heading to the hole that led to the basement. There, just as the girl had said, two shadow bugs resided. Link quickly dispatched them and the light they stole was absorbed by him. "How do I leave here?" Link questioned to his back, but Midna wasn't there. "I'm here! Found an exit!" Her voice came from the opposite end of the entrance. She was floating around in a square room, it had scaffolding reaching to the top where an opening for what looked like an old well resided. "You could climb the stairs of the scaffolding." Midna suggested, landing again on Link's back. "C'mon, get a move on!" She continued, once again bossy. "Just When I thought you'd finally be friendly." Link sighed, climbing the scaffolding stairs. "Why would I be friendly to someone who I control?" Midna asked. "Because I'd cooperate better?" Link mused. "Eh." Midna said, shutting down the conversation. They emerged from the well in a kind of graveyard, there were no bugs here, so they headed to the only way out, back to the village, the path leading to the graveyard started behind the sanctuary. They went to every house, looking through the windows and in some houses finding bugs. And the final bug to be found in the village was found in a moment neither Midna or Link would ever forget. The two saw the bug crawl in a house via a hole in the side, so they followed. It turned out to be a bomb storage hut, and the bug hid in the fireplace. The only way to get it out was to light the fireplace, so that is what Link did, the bug flew out and was on fire, so in flying around it set fire to the building, and the bombs inside the building. "Hey, what do you think you're doing, I'm outta here!". Midna yelled as she flew through the hole in the wall, shortly thereafter followed by Link. Right as Link exited the building, it exploded, leaving a few ruins and a dead bug, it's stolen light waiting to be absorbed by Link. "Huh, didn't expect that." Midna joked, landing on Link's back again. They continued, heading this time towards Death Mountain, on their way they found more blue flames, when Link focused, they saw that they were weird rock creatures, Midna thought they were gorons, having apparently studied Hyrule's races in the Twilight Realm. About halfway up the path to the mountain, two more shadow bugs resided, Link dispatched them and was congratulated by a voice, it wasn't Midna's it was a golden wolf, the same one from Faron. "Let me teach you again." It spoke, as it bit into Link's head. When Link's eyes opened again, he was standing for the second time in the white dimension. He was a human again, and before him, the skeleton in old Hylian armor stood. "Welcome, brave youth." It said, slashing its sword at Link. Link pulled his sword and blocked the strike. "Very well, I see you've lost your shield, fret not. I have one for you." It spoke, pulling a beautiful shield from out of nowhere, it was a dark blue, with the Triforce on it, and underneath, red lines resembling a large bird. The shields shape was indescribable. "This is the Hylian shield, a shield wielded by many heroes before you, as the previous hero, I give you my old shield, from hero to hero. Accept my shield." It explained, offering Link the shield. "I thank you, when my time comes, I shall pass it on to the next hero when needed." Link answered. "So you shall." The skeletal hero answered. "Now, today's lesson. Say you are being attacked by a foe who dodges your strikes, the technique I teach you today shall help you against such foes. What you want to do is thrust your shield forward, which will stagger most foes you will face. It can also be used to block ranged attacks. Now try it." The old hero explained. It ran from Link, stopping about 10 meters away, it took out an old looking bow and prepared to shoot Link, who was holding the Hylian shield up in a defensive position. The old hero loosed the arrow, it flew to Link, who thrust his shield forward as fast as he could. The arrow flew back a little and landed on the floor about half a meter from Link. "Very well, the shield attack has been passed on. Good luck." It finished, and Link appeared back in his wolf form on the road up death mountain, with a bored-looking Midna next to him. "Ah there you are." She said, hopping back on Link's back. "Let's continue forward shall we." Midna said. So they continued and arrived at the base of Death Mountain. "Well here we are." Link said, climbing his way up some stairs leading to a hot spring area. There was another bug, Link snapped at it and collected the light. He suddenly appeared at Eldin spring, Midna floating next to him in her shadow form. "Blue-eyed beast, brave youth. You have done well to collect my stolen light, I thank you for this. The dark power you seek is in the Goron's mines in Death Mountain. One fellow spirit still is without light, rescue it too."
