Lily Evans

'Come in.' Breezed out the weary voice of Minerva McGonagall as she prepared herself for the last audience of the very tiresome day. The door opened and closed behind a curtain of red hair with a soft thud as Lily Evans greeted the professor with a warm smile and took a seat opposite to her. The Career Advise session, Lily decided, had not been a walk in the park for the older witch, taking in her gaunter appearance - sunken eyes, slouched posture contrasting the ever present rigidness and of course, a weak attempt at a smile as she greeted the young prefect in front of her.

'At least I could hope for a good end.' She muttered and rubbed her eyes with her palm as a series of parchment flew on top of her desk. She cascaded through them, an impressed glint in her eyes before she addressed the mulling redhead.

'You have chosen a diverse curriculum for yourself and have excelled in all of them. Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, and Defense Against The Dark Arts - you've managed to impress each of your professors from the most difficult of the fields. Although,' She scratched her chin, as if coming across a sudden thought 'it might do you well to exchange bits of knowledge with James Potter. He can improve his charms, which you excel at, and in return, you can harden your grip at Transfiguration, which for some reason comes in naturally to his little band.'

Lily looked scandalized.

'Perhaps not.' McGonagall decided with a slight chuckle.

She straightened up, 'I am obliged to begin this session by asking you if you have a plan for your future in the Wizarding World.'

'There are many things that I have on my mind,' Lily bit her lip nervously but McGonagall egged her on 'I want to be a writer for the Prophet, perhaps. But at the same time, I want to join the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.'

McGonagall nodded thoughtfully, 'And you want to pursue these because...?'

'I want to make a change in the Wizarding World. For far too long we have dealt with imperfections that deals with prejudices, segregation, and class differences. I want to voice out my opinion to even the darkest corners of the community, as a writer. And as an activist for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, I want to fight for the laws of the underprivileged by legality and authority. I aspire to become the head of the department one day.'

McGonagall noted, with a sinking feeling in her stomach, that Lily's ambitions were influenced by the darkness that surrounded them as a war of prejudice was about break open in the Wizarding World. She had tried her level best to educate her pupils and see them lead a happy life, but she had not signed up to see most of them fighting a fight that wasn't meant to be theirs.

Nevertheless she managed a smile and said, 'You can achieve both, Lily.'

'I can?'

'That is the beauty of writing. You can influence power with wisdom beyond a veil of words, and you can do it any time. You can work for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and voice out your opinions through the Daily Prophet at the same time, if you want to. As a non profit article, they would gladly publish it. And I am sure professor Slughorn would help you in your dreams.'

McGonagall motioned for her to stand and gave her an encouraging smile, 'You have a noble heart, Lily. Maybe one day when I retire I could be an undersecretary to you, the powerful and influencing, young Minister of Magic.'

Lily smiled brightly and opened the door to an endless new possibilities of a Wizarding World free from all the evils. A Wizarding World that shall soon be shaped as she would cast herself in the path of a jet of green light, to give rise to the Chosen One. A Wizarding World with an eternal love of Lily Evans rushing through its foundations.
