Chapter 11: The power of gold dust Part 3.
Out on the main line, Diesel 10 was slowly rolling along the tracks. He was thinking about the moment he threw Agnes off the Big Dipper viaduct yesterday, and he was feeling rather proud of himself.
Dodge and Splatter were following close behind, and each of them were pushing 3 troublesome trucks loaded with rocks. Splatter also had a well wagon coupled up behind him, but that flatbed was equipped with a mangonel catapult with a bucket big enough to launch large rocks.
Splatter: "I just don't get it Dodge, why do I have to pull the catapult and push my trucks?"
Dodge: "It's a tricky job Splatter. But someone's gotta do it."
Diesel 10: "Quiet Splodge, I can hear you back there! Once we get to Arlesdale lake, we'll be able to play 1 of our favorite games: Boulder Splash!"
You see, Boulder Splash was just a random game that Diesel 10, Dodge, and Splatter made up and declared as a really fun game. They collect a few trucks loaded with rocks and something to throw them with, then they go to a big enough lake and throw their rocks to see who can make the biggest splashes. It was usually Diesel 10 against Dodge and Splatter, because Dodge and Splatter used the catapult while Diesel 10 just had his claw pinchy to throw the rocks.
As they continued their journey, Diesel 10 spotted Whiff the garbage engine puffing towards them on the outside line pulling 5 7-plank trucks loaded with trash. When Whiff got close enough to the diesels, Diesel 10 did something very devious.
Diesel: "Scram ya stink-o!"
Already feeling frightened, Whiff quickly scurried away with his garbage cars. As he left, Dodge and Splatter couldn't help but laugh at this.
Splatter: "Ha-Ha, you really got him good boss!"
After hearing Splatters comment, Diesel 10 also started feeling proud of himself again. As they continued down the main line, he started humming his "Old McDiesel" melody to himself.
A good ways up the main line, Agnes was peddling her track-cycle on the middle track in the other direction. Thomas was following close behind on the same track pushing 4 7-plank trucks loaded with crates, Ryan was close behind Thomas on the left outside line also pushing 4 7-plank trucks loaded with crates with Emily puffing alongside him on the right outsideside track.
As they continued on their way, Thomas had something to ask Agnes.
Thomas: "Hey Agnes!"
Agnes turned her head over her shoulder to look back at Thomas.
Thomas: "I know you're really confident about this, but is it really a good idea to be going up against Diesel 10 like this?"
Agnes: "Don't worry Thomas, I know what I'm doing. That dream I had last night gave me a sign, and I just know this'll work."
After Agnes turned her head back around, Thomas still wasn't sure if Agnes had this.
Emily: "I'm sure Agnes knows what she's doing Thomas, maybe that dream she had really did help her."
Thomas: "I guess you're right Emily, but who knows what might happen."
Ryan: "Agnes is my best friend, but I'm not entirely so confident about this."
After hearing this, Emily slowed down alongside Ryan so she could listen in on what he was trying to say.
Emily: "What do you mean Ryan?"
Ryan: "The only time I've seen this Diesel 10 character was when he tried to go across the Vicarstown bridge with some silver crown, so I hardly know anything about him."
Emily: "Don't worry Ryan, most of us actually know quite a bit more about Diesel 10 than you. So as long as you stick with us, you'll be okay."
After hearing that, Ryan felt a little more confident. But after they went a little further down the line, Agnes stopped in her tracks (no pun intended). After Thomas, Emily, and Ryan saw this, they stopped too. But as they looked in the direction that Agnes was looking, they all gasped in surprise. There, coming around a corner at the far end of the main line, was Diesel 10, Dodge, and Splatter. As they spotted Agnes and the 3 engines, they were as equally surprised as them. But the surprised feeling in both Agnes and Diesel 10 didn't last for very long, because they suddenly gave each other a determined death glare.
Agnes: "Diesel 10."
Diesel 10: "Candlehead."
Emily:(starting to move forward) "Hey, don't call her a cand-
But before Emily could finish her sentence, Agnes held her right hand up causing Emily to stop moving immediately. Knowing she didn't have a choice, Emily stayed quiet. Agnes climbed down from her track cycle, then she walked a few feet in front of it.
Agnes: "Hate to break it to ya Diesel 10, but I've got a score to settle with you."
Diesel 10: "Oh really, do you really think an innocent girl like you can beat heavy metal Diesel like me?"
Agnes: "Oh yes I do, I have it in my gut."
Ryan: "Yes, and she's got her friends here with her!"
Suddenly, Thomas and Emily quickly shushed Ryan letting him know not to ruin Agnes's moment. Diesel 10 stared at Agnes for a moment, then he grew an evil smile.
Diesel: "I don't think so, defeating you will be easy as cake."
Dodge: "Uhh boss, don't you mean easy as pie?"
Diesel 10: "EASY AS CAKE!"
After that sudden outburst, Dodge and Splatter decided to stay silent for a while. Getting back on track (still no pun intended), Diesel 10 smirked back at Agnes and the engines.
Diesel 10: "And besides, look at all this equipment we have. Once we're done with you, you'll look like nothing but a pile of rubble!"
Agnes scanned Diesel 10 with her eyes narrowed for a few seconds, but then she smirked and said the unthinkable.
Agnes: "Bring it!"
Thomas, Emily, and Ryan were extremely shocked by this, but Diesel 10 just pulled an evil laugh.
Diesel 10: "Whatever you say…...Splodge, release the trucks!"
Dodge's driver ran up to the trucks, and he uncoupled the truck that was on the front end. After he climbed back into Dodge's cab, Dodge shoved the first truck towards Agnes and the engines.
Emily: "I got this one!"
With that, Emily quickly puffed ahead of the others. She biffed herself against the truck that Dodge launched and shoved it off the tracks. Diesel 10 was enraged by this, but he wasn't gonna give up.
Diesel 10: "Splodge, more trucks!"
This time, Dodge and Splatter each shoved a truck towards them. Agnes saw this, but she already knew what to do.
Agnes: "Thomas, Ryan!"
Ryan: "Already on it Agnes!"
With that said, Thomas and Ryan each shoved 2 of their trucks against the ones that Dodge and Splatter shunted. The trucks crashed into each other, then they tumbled over the edges of the main line. Now they were laying on the ground on each side of the tracks, upside down or on their sides with crushed rock-rubble and splintered crate pieces scattered around them. But before Thomas and Ryan could feel proud for blocking Diesel 10's attack, Thomas spotted something ahead.
Thomas: "Look out!"
When Agnes looked ahead, she saw that Dodge and Splatter had now launched 3 trucks. But Thomas and Emily raced towards them, and Emily blocked 2 of the trucks while Thomas blocked the last 1. Once they stopped, they shunted the trucks into a siding on each side of the main line.
Diesel 10 snarled at this before he looked over at Dodge and Splatter, he could see that they each only had 1 truck left. They were about to release them, but Diesel 10 stopped them.
Diesel 10: "Save those trucks…..it's time to use the catapult."
With those very words said, Splatter's driver turned the crank on the catapult that was buckled up behind Splatter. After getting it loaded with rocks, he launched those said rocks into the sky towards Agnes and the engines.
Ryan: "Guys, look out!"
Agnes, Thomas, and Emily looked up into the sky, and they saw the rocks being launched towards them.
Emily: "Agnes, what do we do!?"
But by now, Agnes didn't know what to do. Lady said she was supposed to fulfill her destiny this way, but she had no idea how. But before she could give up, she heard a strange noise. After looking back and forth a few seconds, she looked down at the sticker of Lady on her shirt. Somehow…..the sticker was faintly blinking, and it was actually where that strange blinking noise was coming from. Not sure what else to do, Agnes pressed her finger onto the sticker. It did stop the noise and the blinking, but suddenly she heard Lady's voice.
Lady: "The gold dust is ready for ya Agnes."
Agnes suddenly realized what this was, the sticker was like a communication button. Now understanding what to do, she decided to try something and see if the gold dust would work.
As she looked up at the rocks being launched towards her, Agnes put on her game face. The moment she raised her hand up at the rocks, each of them were stopped in mid air by a trace of glittering gold aura. Thomas, Emily, and Ryan were both completely shocked and dumbfounded, even Diesel 10, Dodge, and Splatter were equally shocked at this. After holding it for a few more seconds, she put her fists together. When she jerked her arms outwards to her sides, the rocks were roughly thrown to the ditches on each side of the main line.
Diesel 10: "What in the…."
Ryan: "Wow…...now that's my girl."
Agnes then raised up her right arm, and then a stream of gold dust swirled around her forearm for 3 seconds. But as she jerked her hand back down, the gold dust had formed into the shape of a sword. Thomas, Emily, and Ryan saw this too, and they were pretty surprised by it. Dodge and Splatter had seen this too, but they suddenly grew rather nervous.
Splatter: "Uhh boss, she's gonna chop us!"
Diesel 10 was so busy deeply thinking, he wasn't entirely listening to Splatter. Agnes's new skills were very impressive, but Diesel 10 wasn't gonna let that stop him.
Diesel 10: "Release the last of the trucks!"
Dodge and Splatter didn't need to be told twice, so they immediately released each of their remaining trucks. Agnes saw the trucks coming towards her, but she already knew what to do.
Growing a determined look, she ran along the left rail of her track towards the trucks. Once the truck that Splatter launched came close enough, Agnes made her move. She slashed her gold dust sword against it, and the truck just poofed into a small explosion of gold dust. After she did the same with the truck Dodge had launched, she jumped down from the rail doing a front flip and swiftly landed back on the ground.
Diesel 10 was so shocked at this, a drip of sweat was seen on his forehead. Thomas, Emily, and Ryan were now extremely impressed by how quickly Agnes's new powers had improved, but they still wondered who gave her them.
Diesel 10: "Rattling radiators, how did you do all that!?"
Agnes: "Well let's just say…..I had some help from a new friend."
Diesel 10: "Rubbish, I can still destroy you with-Wait….what new friend?"
Agnes: "Well, let me show you."
With that said, Agnes did something that confused everyone else instantly. She closed her eyes and stood in place while putting her hands together in a praying position. After a couple seconds, she steadily spread her hands out like she was presenting something that was in front of her. At the same time, a thin cloud of gold dust started emerging in front of her. While it started growing bigger, Agnes's eyes shot open as they now each glowed a yellow-gold color. As Thomas, Emily, and Ryan all watched this, they all had the same question on their minds: how on Sodor did Agnes get so powerful. But somehow, they were about to get their answer.
All the while, the cloud of gold dust just kept growing until it was as big as a tugboat. But suddenly, the top-middle of it started clearing up and showing an image….of an engine. Diesel 10 couldn't clearly see who it was about to show, but he was about to get his answer.
Diesel 10: "What is this supposed to-...(gives a shocked look)...it cannot be."
When the image was revealed, Diesel 10 could not believe who he was seeing. There, in the middle of the clearing from the cloud, was Lady giving a stern grin down at Diesel 10. When Thomas saw this, he was the most surprised and amazed out of them all.
Diesel 10: "Lady!"
Lady: "Long time no see Diesel 10."
Diesel 10: "How can this be, you taught this candle-headed pipsqueak to control your pathetic gold dust!?"
Lady: "Of course I did, she's my newest Golddust Guardian."
Suddenly, Diesel 10 gave an utterly confused look.
Lady: "Anyway, your days of your devious deeds are over! Agnes and I are gonna make sure you're defeated at this very spot, once and for all!"
After hearing those very words, Diesel 10 started nervously stammering while sweating. When he looked towards the bottom section of the cloud of gold dust, Agnes stepped out in front of the cloud with her game face on. Diesel 10 just grew a bit more nervous, but he wasn't even expecting what happened next.
When Agnes looked up at Lady and Lady looked down at Agnes, Lady winked down at her signaling to make their move. As Agnes stood where she was firm and strong, she and Lady both closed their eyes. After a few seconds, they opened them up again. But when they got opened, a set of yellow-gold beams of gold dust shot from each of their eyes and against Diesel 10. Diesel 10 did his best to hold back against the beams, but his wheels were slowly screeching backwards against the rails. As this went on, Diesel 10's whole body was starting to get devoured by gold dust. Thomas, Emily, and Ryan were extremely amazed when watching this, but Dodge and Splatter were just getting worried for their boss.
Diesel 10's entire body was now completely covered in gold dust, he could still feel it pushing against him and just couldn't take it. As Agnes and Lady continued urging their beams against Diesel 10, they said the words that set off Diesel 10's defeat.
Agnes and Lady: "The power of gold dust compels you!"
With that, once Agnes and Lady jerked the power of their beams forward, it sent Diesel 10 shooting into the sky out of sight like a rocket leaving a trail of gold glittering smoke leading into the sky. Once Diesel 10 was really out of sight, the cloud of gold dust with the Image of Lady faded away. As the yellow-gold glow in Agnes's eyes also slowly faded away, Agnes was breathing from the energy she released while helping Lady shoot those beams at Diesel 10.
As Thomas, Emily, and Ryan were slowly puffing over by Agnes, they were still looking in awe up to where Diesel 10 had shot out of sight. But at the same time, they were extremely impressed by Agnes and her new powers.
Thomas: "Agnes…...that….was…..amazing!"
Ryan: "Yeah! I don't know how you got those powers, but that was quite a show you put on there!"
Agnes nodded towards Ryan in agreement, but then they all quickly looked towards Dodge and Splatter.
Dodge and Splatter were a few yards ahead still staring up where Diesel 10 had disappeared into the sky with their jaws dropped, then they looked towards Agnes and the 3 engines with worried looks on their faces. The moment Agnes gave them a stern glare while raising her right palm that sparked with a little gold dust, Dodge and Splatter immediately gave frightened stammers. Quickly, they reversed back around the corner behind them and didn't stop until they made it to the dieselworks.
Once Agnes eased herself to her normal temper, she felt really proud of herself.
Emily: "Agnes, that was amazing!"
Agnes: "Thank you Emily, I can't even believe I got the hang of my new powers so quickly."
Thomas: "I don't wanna ruin the celebrating moment, but what do you guys think has become of Diesel 10?"
Agnes: "Not sure, but all I know is that we won't be seeing Diesel 10 for quite some time."
Emily: "I guess she has a point, what do ya say we go home?"
Ryan: "Yes, let's."
Thomas: "Fine by me."
With that, Thomas and Emily started reversing back down the main line towards home. Ryan switched onto the track that Agnes's track cycle was on, and he was soon coupled up to it. After he waited for Agnes to climb on, he started reversing down the line while pulling Agnes and her track cycle along. As they continued their journey, Ryan had something to ask Agnes.
Ryan: "Ya know Agnes, I have something on my mind."
Agnes:(looks over at Ryan) "What would that be Ryan?"
Ryan: "How would you actually get these unique powers from a dream?"
Agnes:(shrugs) "I don't know, I guess it just happens sometimes."
After that, Agnes and Ryan both decided to leave that question a mystery. So with that, they decided to just head home and just be happy that Agnes had gotten her chance at getting even with Diesel 10.
Back at Gru's house that evening, Agnes happily walked back into her room. She simply put her hands on her hips, then she simply inhaled through her nose….then exhaled feeling relaxed about the busy day she had.
Agnes: "Ahh, what a day that was."
Suddenly, the picture of Lady on her shirt was blinking. Agnes wasn't sure, but it seemed like Lady wanted to see her. After looking back at the bedroom door to make sure nobody was coming in, Agnes pressed her finger on that picture of Lady. Suddenly, Agnes stood completely still and her eyes turned bright gold.
Before Agnes knew it, she was in that misty canyon again. And waiting about 2 yards ahead of her, Lady was happily waiting for Agnes. Agnes had a feeling she knew what she was waiting for, but Lady still spoke first.
Lady: "So, what did you think of our payback with Diesel 10?"
Agnes: "Oh Lady, it was amazing! I stopped those rocks like they were in my grasp, (no pun intended) then I had them in the form of a sword. But that beam thing we did together, oh man, that hit the spot!"
Lady chuckled at Agnes, she already knew that she had fun today.
Agnes: "But 1 question, about that button here I just pressed to get here. Is it gonna work like that from now on?"
Lady: "Yes. From now on, when you're having a little trouble with something, you can always have a private conversation with me for a little advice."
Agnes: "Nice, I'll remember that."
Lady: "Good. Before I forget, there was something I wanted to give you."
With that, Lady closed her eyes for a second. But when she opened them back up, they were glowing bright gold. Suddenly, a ball of gold dust appeared in front of Agnes. As the gold dust started fading away, it revealed what looked like a plastic amulet in the shape of a pointy gold dust spark. As it was still floating as high as her chest in front of Agnes, she softly grabbed it and looked at it in her hands.
Agnes: "Wow…...Uhh, (looks up at Lady) what is it?
Lady: "Try putting it on your wrist."
The moment Agnes put the plastic amulet on her right wrist, a pink plastic strap clamped itself around her wrist. As Agnes took a closer look at this, it now looked like an omnitrix in the shape of a pointy gold dust spark with a pink strap.
Agnes: "Wow."
Lady: "Whenever you slap your palm on it, it will release a bit of gold dust that will form into whatever tool you imagine that you need."
Agnes admired her new omnitrix, then she smiled excitedly.
Agnes: "Thanks!"
Lady: "My pleasure, you are now an official Gold dust Guardian."
Agnes was so happy, she didn't even know what to do or say. But before she could think of what to do or say, Lady suddenly spoke.
Lady: "I believe it's time for you to get back home, you don't want your parents to worry about you."
Agnes: "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Lady: "Farewell Agnes, and may the Gold dust Guardians be with you."
Agnes took 1 last look at her new gold dust omnitrix, then she sighed and looked back up at Lady.
Agnes: "Goodbye Lady."
With that, Agnes pressed her finger on the picture of Lady on her shirt again, and she started disappearing into a small cloud of gold dust.
Before Agnes knew it, she was back in her room. After she looked around for a couple seconds, she saw that nobody else showed up yet. She looked at her omnitrix again, then she only had 1 thing on her mind.
Agnes:(sighs) "Well, I guess this is how it's gonna be from now on."
Then, Agnes once again started wondering what happened to Diesel 10 after he got shot into the sky. But then she decided to forget about that question, then she decided to go downstairs to get herself a cookie. She couldn't wait to tell everyone about today, but she had a feeling that Edith would never be able to believe it.
Meanwhile, we open up to a slightly narrow frosty gorge with 2 stretches of track going through it. Suddenly, Diesel 10 comes rocketing down in a stream of gold dust. Finally, he crashed right into the gorge with a boom.
When all the gold dust fainted away, Diesel was seen regaining consciousness with his claw drooping from his side.(if you know what I mean.) And to his surprise, he had landed perfectly back on the rails.
Diesel 10: "Where the heck are we pinchy?"
Once Diesel 10 fixed up his claw, he took another look around the gorge he was in. He had to admit, the frost along the rocky walls actually made it look pretty nice.
Diesel 10: "Hmm, this actually looks really-OH MY NUTS AND BOLTS!"
When Diesel 10 had looked ahead, he had gotten a shocking surprise. The end of the gorge had the 2 stretches of track going into a large cave. But the mouth of the cave was the mouth of a monster face carved into the end-wall of the gorge.
Diesel 10: "Wow, that's quite a masterpiece."
?: "why thank you my good man."
Suddenly, Diesel 10 jumped in fright from hearing that strange voice. When he looked towards the cave entrance, he gasped in surprise and his eyes went wide with wonder. There was a pair of eyes staring at him within the darkness of the cave, and they seemed to be doing it in a cunning way.
?: "So, you're the one they call Diesel 10 I bet."
Diesel 10: "Yes that's me, 10 out of 10 for devious deeds and brutal strength…..who's asking?"
Suddenly, the figure with the eyes started slowly emerging from the darkness of the cave. And to Diesel 10's surprise, the figure just so happened to be an engine. The engine was a mostly black D51 200, but his piston cylinders and back half of his boiler were neon purple. He had black wheels with silver coupling rods, and he had a strange purple symbol on each side of his tender and smokescreens.
?: "The name is Dr. Megatrain."
Diesel 10: "Hmm, I see."
Dr. Megatrain: "I hear you're trying to destroy a certain engine with gold dust, "Lady" is it?"
Diesel 10: "Yes, I've been trying to hunt her down for about 17 years now…..why do you ask?"
Dr. Megatrain: "Because I can help you."
Diesel 10 was taken back by this (in a good way), but then he started liking where this was going.
Diesel 10: "...Go on."
Dr. Megatrain: "I've also heard you've been trying to get rid of this number 1 blue engine named "Thomas," and I think I can help you with that too. So if you follow me inside, I can help you with every problem that's in your way. With my help, we can rule this pathetic island once and for all."
Now Diesel 10 was really liking where this was going, but he had a couple questions on his mind. Could this Dr. Megatrain character really help him get rid of Lady? How did he know about his times with Thomas? But even with these questions, Diesel 10 still grew a small yet evil grin.
Diesel 10: "I'm listening."
With that, Diesel 10 rolled forward as he followed Dr. Megatrain inside the cave. And in a few seconds, both Diesel 10 and Dr. Megatrain had disappeared into the darkness of the cave. After that, the big scary eyes in the carved monster face each started glowing a blinding purple light. Whatever was gonna happen, it wasn't gonna be a good sign for Thomas, Agnes, and their friends.
