Chapter 15: Boulder strikes again part 2.

It was a brand new day at Boulder quarry, Edward and Boco had just returned to start their work. Rosie came slowly puffing out of 1 of the yard sheds yawning, she had stayed at the quarry overnight so she could keep helping out in an easier way. Skarloey, Rusty, Duncan, and Bertram did the same by sleeping in the yard's narrow gauge sheds, and they were ready to start their work for the day. Lucy, Margo, Edith, Agnes, and a bunch of the minions (including Mel) had been riding in the 2 red coaches that Edward was pulling, and they simply poured out of them with the minions being the most excited.

Mel started ordering the minions to get to work right away, and the minions saluted in agreement. So they put on their dark orange hard hats and picked up their pickaxes, and they set off to work over by the nearest quarry wall.

Edith:(sighs) "Another day, another quarry shift."

Lucy: "Now don't be like that Edith, I'm sure you'll have a good time."

Agnes: "Yeah, especially since Margo's gonna be helping out here today!"

To prove her point, Agnes happily hugged Margo from her side as she smiled and rubbed Agnes's head while kissing her forehead. Then after she also put on a dark orange hard hat, she set off to work.

Boco: "Indeed, it was a good idea of yours to have the minions help us with the work."

Edward: "Thank you Boco, but it was mostly Lucy's Idea. Derek was sent back to the dieselworks to get repaired, and Lucy and Gru always know to keep the minions in ord-

But before Edward could finish his sentence, Percy suddenly screeched to a stop alongside Edward.

Percy: "GUYS!"

Edward:(stammers) "Percy, don't do that! You're gonna make rocks fall on the minions' heads!"

Mel: "Wha?"

Suddenly, a bunch of rocks came falling down on Mel and the minions heads as they shouted out in pain and annoyance.

Edward: "Ya see!?"

Percy: "Sorry, but am I too late to deliver Thumper?"

Indeed, Percy actually was pulling a flatbed that had Thumper riding on it. When Edward and Boco saw him, they finally understood.

Boco: "Nah, you're just in time Percy."

Percy: "Oh good, I'll put him over by the sheds for when you're ready for him."

With that said, Percy happily puffed over towards the 2 yard births.

Lucy: "Phew, this is some job we're in for."

Boco: "Indeed, but we've got this covered."

After Lucy went off to help Margo and the minions, Edith was already starting to feel rather bored. Agnes noticed this right away, then she started getting an idea. She walked over by Edward, then she spoke to him.

Agnes: "Hey Edward, me and Edith are gonna go take a walk down the quarry branchline."

Edward: "Uhh okay, I'll send you 2 a smoke signal when it's time for you guys to come back."

Agnes: "Gotcha."

As Agnes started walking away, she dragged Edith along by her wrist. When they got far away enough, they stopped for a moment.

Edith: "Hey, what's your deal?"

Agnes: "Relax, you wanna try and make this day more interesting?"

Edith: "Sure, how?"

Agnes: "What do ya say we check out that boulder again?"

Edith: "Awesome, I'm game."

With that, Edith and Agnes started running along the track that led to the cliff where Boulder would be. Back over by Edward, he and Boco saw Lucy walking up to them.

Lucy: "Hey Edward, have you seen Edith and Agnes?"

Edward: "Oh they said they were going for a walk along the quarry branchline, they'll be back real soon."

Boco: "Ya know, I sure hope you're right Edward. With someone like Edith wandering off like this, who knows what'll happen."

With that, Boco purred off to start his work. All the same, Edward and Lucy were still kinda worried about what would happen to Edith and Agnes.

Meanwhile, Edith and Agnes had just arrived at the spot where Boulder was. They glanced up at him, and he stood proud and silent where he was. The 2 girls stared in awe at him, but this wasn't quite enough for them.

Agnes: "Ya know, it kinda sucks to see it from all the way down here."

Edith: "Yeah….wanna go up there for a closer look?"

Agnes was completely surprised by this suggestion, she didn't entirely think it was safe for them to do that. But she already went up there last night, so she had no choice but to accept it.

Agnes:(sighs) "Alright fine, but don't come crying to me when you fall and break your leg."

After that, they started climbing the steep slope towards Boulder. There was an arch-shaped trench near the bottom, but Edith and Agnes each managed to leap over it. Soon enough, they got so high that they were standing right in front of him. Now that they were much closer,

Edith: "Wow, now this is what I call a panoramic view."

Agnes: "Ugh, who told you about Gordon's incident at Kirk Ronan?"

Edith: "His driver did, he told me he also got a broken arm during that time while I was talking with him at Knapford station."

Agnes just rolled her eyes before continuing to look over Boulder, but Edith still wanted to talk.

Edith: "So how old do you think this rock is?"

Agnes: "Honestly, I'm not sure. From what Rusty told us, the last time it was seen was about 19 years ago."

Edith was disappointed that she didn't get to know how old Boulder actually was, but she thought she found something caught underneath it.

Agnes: "Also, I doubt that anyone knows how old this Boulder is, it must just be that historic."

Suddenly, Edith walked over holding something in her right hand.

Edith: "Do you think there's a reason it's up here in the first place?"

Agnes: "Probably, Rusty said it caused a lot of-

That was when she noticed the object in Edith's hand, it was a rock that was kinda in the shape of a rubber door stopper.

Agnes: "Uhh Edith, where did you get that?"

Edith:(points behind herself) "Over there."

When Agnes looked where Edith was pointing, she saw that there was a lumpy gap in between a group of rocks that were holding Boulder in place. But Edith was now holding the main rock that was holding Boulder in place, and Agnes grew rather wide-eyed.

When she and Edith stared at each other with worried looks on their faces, they slowly turned up at Boulder. After a couple seconds….

Boulder started to move.

Agnes: "Move, move, MOVE!"

Almost without thinking, Edith and Agnes quickly ran back down the slope with Boulder steadily rolling in tow. Agnes looked back at Boulder while running, and she saw that Boulder was slowly gaining on them. Suddenly she saw the trench near the bottom of the slope, then she got an idea.

Agnes: "Down there!"

Once she grabbed hold of Edith, she jumped down into the trench pulling Edith down with her. Once they were both in the trench, they huddled each other tightly until Boulder had gone by. Since Boulder was so big, he just simply rolled right over the trench leaving Edith and Agnes unharmed.

Edith: "Is it over?"

Once Agnes assumed it was safe, she and Edith poked their heads out from the trench and saw that Boulder had landed on the tracks at the bottom of the slope. But suddenly, he started slowly rolling forward until it was now rolling quickly down the tracks towards the quarry yard.

When Agnes saw this, she gave the same look she made the time she saw Kevin chewing on her unicorn as a purple minion.

Agnes: "Oh no, it's far from over."

She and Edith climbed out of the trench, then they ran down by the tracks and looked down the line where Boulder had disappeared to.

Agnes: "Boulder is heading straight for the quarry yards, it's gonna crush everything and everyone in its path!"

Edith: "I know…..it sounds awesome!"

After hearing that comment, Agnes just gave Edith an angry look. Edith quickly noticed this, then she just looked down in shame.

Agnes: "How are we gonna warn everyone before Boulder gets to them!?"

Edith: "Don't worry, I know a shortcut."

With that, Edith led Agnes through a cutting in the forest by the tracks as they tried to get back to the quarry yards before Boulder got there.

Back at the quarry yards, everyone was on their break. Lucy and Margo were standing by Edward each drinking a plastic cup of lemonade with a tiny umbrella,(Lucy: orange, Margo: purple) Boco and Rosie were over on the left side of the yard talking with each other, and Skarloey, Rusty, Duncan, and Bertram were resting in their sheds on their side of the yards.

Over with Boco and Rosie, they were already hooking up on a good conversation.

Boco: "So Rosie, why did you get painted red in the first place?"

Rosie: "Well Boco, it's mostly because pink was getting a little outdated for me. So I decided that I should get a makeover to make me look more cheerful, along with being more useful. So I went to the Steamworks, and I got a new coat of paint and picked cherry red for the color. So with a few modifications, I became how you see me now."

Boco: "Well said Rosie, well said."

Rosie: "Yeah, but there are times where I miss my old paint job."

Over by Lucy and Margo, they had just finished their cups of lemonade and tossed the cups into a nearby recycling bin. After taking a glance out in the yard, Lucy started growing a little worried.

Lucy: "Hey Edward, shouldn't Edith and Agnes be back by now?"

Edward: "I think so, but I'm sure they're fine."

Skarloey: "But Edward, aren't you forgetting that Edith is out there too?"

Rusty: "Yeah, who knows what she'd get herself into out there."

Edward had to agree with Skarloey and Rusty, but he was sure that Edith and Agnes would be fine. But still, they had no idea about either of the odds.

Edward: "Look guys, I know we're all worried about Edith and Agnes. But If you're that concerned, I'll send that smoke signal to them right now."

But just as Edward was about to blow his first puff of steam….

Agnes: "GUYS!"

When everyone looked ahead, they saw Edith and Agnes running up to them in a rather alarmed state. The moment they stopped over by Lucy, Margo, and Edward, they were majorly catching their breath.

Agnes:(heavily breathing) "Problem…...branchline…"

Edith:(breathing heavily) "Big rock…...rolling…"

Margo: "Woah girls, calm down."

Edward: "Yeah, what are you 2 talking about?"

Agnes: "Boulder, he's gone loose!"

Edith:(points behind herself) "Look!"

Starting to understand what they were saying, Edward, Lucy, and Margo looked ahead to where Edith was pointing. But when they saw what Edith was pointing at, they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Boulder was rolling down the tracks towards the quarry, and his rolling was making the whole ground rumble.

Edward: "Flatten my funnel, Boulder is loose!"

At that moment, the workmen set off the quarry alarm gaining the attention of everyone in the yards. When Mel and the other minions saw Boulder they immediately panicked, throwing their pickaxes in the air and running back and forth like crazy. Mel tried ordering them to calm down, but they just didn't listen to him.

When Boco and Rosie saw Boulder, they were almost as alarmed as the minions were.

Boco: "Get back!"

While Boco quickly reversed into a siding, Rosie quickly backed up inside 1 of the yard sheds for shelter. Skarloey, Rusty, and Duncan

Bertram: "What's everyone panicking about exactly?"

Suddenly, Bertram was actually able to see Boulder up ahead.

Bertram: "Great scott!"

next thing he knew, Rusty coupled himself up in front of Bertram and pulled him away to safety.

Boulder was getting closer, and the rumbling was growing louder. When Mel had finally gotten the minions to calm down, they joined Lucy and the girls huddled up against the nearest walls of the buildings they were standing by. They braced for impact, but Agnes had something on her mind. Boulder was gonna destroy the quarry, and all of her friends were in its path. She took a look at her gold dust omnitrix, then she looked back towards Boulder. She suddenly grew a determined look, then she broke from Margo's grip and ran out towards Boulder.

Edward: "Agnes, what are you doing!?"

As Agnes kept running, she focused her sight on Boulder. But when she took another glance at her omnitrix, she saw that the top part of it was pulsing a faint gold glow indicating that it was time for her to use it. While still running, she slapped her palm onto her omnitrix. Before she knew it, a bunch of gold dust had formed into the shape of a knight shield that was a couple inches taller than her whole body.(minus her candle-like ponytail)

Once Agnes had gotten close enough, she skidded forward on her left knee until she stopped. She was still on her left knee, but she had her gold dust shield firmly placed against the ground at 45 degrees left in front of her.

Everyone back by the yards watched in awe and worry, they still had no idea what Agnes was up to.

Lucy:(to herself) "Oh Agnes, be careful."

As Agnes saw Boulder coming straight at her, she closed her eyes tightly while turning her head away bracing for impact. When Boulder reached her, he just bounced against the surface of her gold dust shield and towards the small buildings that were somewhere behind her on the right side of the tracks. Seeing that Agnes had done it, Margo, Edith, Mel, and the minions cheered while Edward, Boco, Rosie, and Lucy just smiled with pride.

When Agnes got back up, she examined her gold dust shield marveling at her work before putting the shield away. Suddenly, she heard a crashing noise coming from where Boulder had rolled to. When she looked, she saw that Boulder had already destroyed a couple small quarry buildings on the side of the tracks. But to her surprise, Boulder somehow turned around and began rolling back towards her. When Agnes saw this, her eyes grew as wide as saucers.

Agnes: "Oh boy."

Almost instantly, Boulder rumbled right through knocking Agnes away and into a ditch on the right side of the tracks. After Agnes layed slightly unconscious in that said ditch, Boulder rolled dangerously back down the tracks and out into the island.

After Boulder was gone, Edward and Boco quickly pulled up by the spot where Agnes was laying with Lucy, Margo, and Edith riding in Edward's cab.

Edward: "Agnes, are you okay!?"

After he said that, Lucy and Margo ran up to where Agnes was laying so they could check on her. While Margo held up her head from behind, Lucy lightly patted Agnes's left cheek to try getting her to wake up.

Lucy: "Come on Agnes, come on."

Suddenly, Agnes started opening her eyes while softly groaning. Everyone felt relieved that Agnes was alright, and Margo helped Agnes get back on her feet.

Agnes: "Phew, thanks guys."

Lucy: "Agnes, that was…..amazing!"

Edward: "Yeah, I never thought you would attempt to pull a stunt so crazy."

Agnes: "Well I just had to save you guys, and the quarry."

Boco: "I can tell, but how did Boulder go loose exactly?"

At that moment, everyone started looking towards both Edith and Agnes. Agnes then gave an angry glare towards Edith, and Edith knew she had to spill the beans 1 way or another.

Edith:(groans angrily) "I plucked out the main rock holding Boulder in place, okay!"

Everyone (minus Agnes): "YOU WHAT!?"

At that moment, some of them - including Margo - started becoming rather angry towards Edith.

Margo: "Edith, how could you!?"

Edith: "I'm sorry I just wanted to get a closer look at that rock, it was a really good looking rock!"

Agnes: "Why would you get so curious over a rock!?"

Edith: "I was starting my own little rock collection at home in my room."

Lucy: "Whatever, you've still got a lot of explaining to do little missy!"

Boco: "I hate to interrupt your little argument, but we've still got a bigger problem to deal with here."

After they heard Boco say that, they suddenly remembered that Boulder was still on the loose. Along with that, they had to think of a plan on how to stop him.

Lucy: "Right, how are we supposed to stop that thing?"

Agnes: "Well for the first step, we gotta catch up with it somehow."

Edward: "That's gonna be tricky, neither of us are even fast enough to catch up with Boulder."

Just then, Rosie pulled up alongside Boco.

Rosie: "Maybe I am."

Margo: "You Rosie?"

Rosie: "Yeah, I can be pretty quick at some points. Not too long ago, I did pretty well in a race against James."

Edith: "Didn't James tell me that he actually beat you?"

Rosie: "That may be true, but I still did pretty well."

During a couple minutes of silence, Lucy, Edward, and Boco thought about what Rosie had said. Boulder was fast, but they knew Rosie was fast too. So after growing a smile on his face, Edward had to agree with Rosie's plan.

Edward: "Alright Rosie, you're in."

Rosie: "Thanks Edward, now let's roll."

As Lucy was about to climb into Rosie's cab, Agnes stopped her.

Agnes: "Edith and I are coming too."

Lucy: "Honey-

Agnes: "Lucy, it's our fault that Boulder is on the loose. So we gotta come, just to make up for our mistake."

Lucy: "...Okay, hurry."

With that, Agnes quickly dragged Edith with her as they climbed into Rosie's cab. During that, Lucy phoned Gru to tell him to send in some extra backup. Growing a determined look on her face, she blew her whistle and sped off down the line after Boulder. Edward and Boco watched with concern, and Edward only had 1 thought on his mind.

Edward: "Be careful you 2."
