A month after going to live with his uncle, Harry woke up in his room in Potter Manor and did the routine he's been doing since he had come to live in the manor. He got up, washed his teeth and went downstairs to the informal dining room to eat the breakfast that would be served by Dippy, one of the five house elves that worked in the manor who was also the kitchen elf. There was also Linny and Ally the cleaning elves, Winxy the head elf, and Griz the garden elf. He had been surprised at first when they'd introduced themselves to him and they'd been wearing uniforms with the Potter Family Crest instead of the dirty pillowcase that Dobby had been wearing when he'd met him. When he'd asked, Altair had told him that Harry's grandfather, Lord Charlus Potter, had asked them to make their own uniforms and so it wasn't him giving them clothes, which had made sense to Harry.

As soon as he'd gotten to the dining room, he knew that this day wasn't going to go like his normal Tuesdays, as instead of being greeted by his uncle's smiling face, he was greeted by the sight of the man (fondly nicknamed Star by his father and the name just sticking until now) looking grim as he read the Daily Prophet, Magical England's number one newspaper.

"Star? Everything okay?" Harry asked with a worried tone.

"Hmm." Altair hummed, seeming to snap out of his thoughts at the sound of his precious nephew's voice and turning to smile in his direction. "Oh, good morning Harry. Yes, everything is fine."

Harry went to sit down beside his uncle and looked at the newspaper in his hands. On the cover page was the picture of a man who looked deranged, in prison clothes and frowning in Harry's direction.

"Who's that?" He asked, pointing at the crazy man.

"That-well that's Sirius Black, he escaped Azkaban Prison last night. He's the first person to do so." Altair explained, muttering something under his breath that sounded like 'of course he'd do it.'

"Wow, but why are you looking so worried about this, we have nothing to do with him, do we…?" Harry said, trailing off in hesitation at the end at the look on his uncle's face.

"Well…" Altair trailed off, not knowing how to explain this to his already traumatized and still healing nephew. "We do have something to do with him." Altair took a deep breath before continuing at Harry's confused expression.

"I promised to always be honest with you, and to never hide anything from you unless it was necessary and I'd give you a reason if that were the case, correct?" He started slowly, getting a nodded from a still confused Harry, who didn't know where this conversation was going. "Well, Sirius Black was imprisoned for the murder of thirteen people and being an accomplice to the murder of two others. All of this happened in the span of twelve hours on the thirty first of October, nineteen eighty one." This gave a clue as to what related Harry to this man, and he was scared for Altair to continue but knew he had to listen to the whole story.

"Sirius Black is Padfoot Harry." Harry gasped in shock at this. "He's the godfather who's name you have a as a middle name."

Altair hesitated, he didn't know if he should continue, but he pushed forward. "He was believed to have been your parents' secret keeper, the only person who could reveal their location. It was believed that he betrayed James and Lily to Voldemort and so they were killed, which made people suspect that he was a Death Eater and thus he was sent to prison. On the morning of the first of November, Peter Pettigrew who was Wormtail cornered Sirius in a muggle street, shouted that he killed James for all to hear before the street was blown up, twelve mundane dying in the process along with Peter, whose finger and bloody robes were the only things that were found of him. Sirius was sent to Azkaban the next day and the story of his guilt was publicized in the Daily Prophet."

Harry started getting angry, before he paused and truly processed what his uncle had said. "You don't seem to believe that very much."

"I don't." Altair said simply, shocking Harry. "Look Harry, I've known Sirius since I was very young, and if there was one person he was devoted to more than anyone else in this world, it was James. I had never seen someone as protective of James as he was, not even Mum and Dad. When he was kicked out of his house by his very awful mother, he came and stayed with us and my parents took him in as their third son without much thought. The friendship Sirius and James had was something that I strived to have in my life but have never achieved to this day. I have to admit that I was jealous of the love and devotion James had for Sirius, as he'd never shown me that and I was his brother by blood. Then I understood that those two just had a connection that I would never understand and I have accepted that. If I had to think of a list of people likely to have betrayed your father, Sirius wouldn't have even been on it. And Sirius showed that same devotion to you when you were born, you were the apple of his eye. You always had his attention wherever you were and he'd have died before letting anyone put a scratch on you, I've seen that myself before. So, no, I don't believe that he betrayed your parents. But I do believe that there is something to the story that no one but Sirius knows about."

Harry mulled over his uncle's words for a moment before he asked "Then why didn't you visit him in prison and ask?"

"I was never allowed to. He was in the isolated area of the prison and wasn't allowed any visitors, not even his Grandfather, who was his closest blood relative and had every right to see him."

"But now we can ask him." Harry said in realisation, eyes wide as he looking at his uncle.

"What?"

"He's escaped. If we lure him somewhere, we can corner him and ask what actually happened."

"I don't know if it's that easy Harry." Altair said, the two dissolving into a heavy silence as they thought over their conversation, breakfast forgotten for the time being.

"Find me everything you can about Sirius Orion Black."

Far away from Potter Manor in Scotland, 'The Alliance' was having a gathering in Emrys Castle in Wales, discussing the one thing on everyone's minds at the moment. Sirius Black.

"Draco if you could tell us what you know, as his relative." Lynette said, going to sit and give the floor to Heir Draco Malfoy, whose mother was Lord Sirius Black's cousin.

"Well, Mother was never allowed to visit him, no one was. But the family never believed in his guilt and nothing was ever really revealed. The story that was publicized has a lot of holes in it. His wand was never examined, he wasn't checked for the dark mark, and we're not even sure he got a trial." Draco then explained the publicized story. "In the morning of November first nineteen eighty one, the DMLE were tipped about an attack in a muggle street, five aurors were sent, led by Senior Auror Alastor Moody, and found the street had been blown up, the remains of what was later found out to be twelve muggles was all around the street, and Sirius Black laying against a wall with tears flowing down his face and cackling hysterically. Auror Moody diagnosed him with a concussion upon further examination and he was captured and sent to the Ministry for questioning. A forensics team was at the sight a few hours later and identified the twelve muggles and the wand and bloody robes of Peter Pettigrew. It was believed that a blasting curse had hit a gas pipe, thus causing the explosion. As Sirius Black was the only one alive at the scene, he was deemed guilty of killing thirteen people as well as being revealed to have betrayed the Potters to the Dark Lord, as was found from the statement given by Chief Warlock Albus Dumbledore. Later that day, transfer papers for Sirius Black to be sent to Azkaban Prison were double signed by head of DMLE Bartemius Crouch and Minister of Magic Millicent Bagnold. And we all know the publicized story, he betrayed the Potter family, was secretly a Death Eater like the rest of his family and had killed the muggles and Pettigrew when Pettigrew had cornered him for revenge."

"Alright." Lynette said, thinking Draco's words through before coming up with a plan. "Susan, I need you to ask your aunt about his trial transcript, tell her you were curious about the story and started looking around, as a research project for your Law lessons, and found a lot of inconsistencies in the story. Draco, I need you to tell your mother the same thing, get her to contact your aunt, Solicitor Andromeda Tonks, and get her on standby just in case Sirius needs a representative in court. I feel there will be a trial soon." The two nodded their heads in confirmation, already thinking on the conversations they'd have to start. The others all looked confused though, and Theodore Nott, whose grandfather had been a solicitor himself and had taught him a lot about Law, decided to ask the question on everyone's minds.

"Are you implying that Sirius Black, Lord of the Most Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, didn't get a trial?" The question was asked in an incredulous voice, not really believing until he noticed the look on Draco's, Susan's and Lynette's faces.

"Yes, I believe so."

That caused an outrage amongst the members, as it was both fear inducing and offensive for the Lord of one of the biggest and most powerful families in England to be imprisoned without a trial. It made everyone think on how easy it could be to send any of them to Azkaban without a trial as well.

Days went by without anything happening, until one day, a statement by Madame Amelia Bones -Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement- was released, retracting the Kiss on Sight order that was released pertaining Sirius Black. The statement indicated that there was evidence found on Sirius Black's case that might mean he was not as guilty as it had first appeared. The interview with Madame Bones that had been released afterwards had further explained the situation, clarifying that the evidence of the case was not examined properly by the previous administration and that there is reason to believe that Lord Sirius Black had either gotten a very fabricated trial, as he had been suffering from an unhealed concussion at the time of his arrest, or he hadn't gotten a trial at all, and had simply been sent to Azkaban Prison on the 'belief' that he was guilty. The article also requested for Sirius Black to come forward and that he would not be arrested but would be asked to testify in a trial to see if he were actually guilty of the crimes of he was accused of.

This caused an outrage to go through the British Wizarding World, as the news meant that a wizard was sent to prison when they could be innocent. This news also reminded people of the fact that Sirius Black had been a very accomplished Hit Wizard, one of the best in the corps, and that he'd taken down over a dozen Death Eaters in his career and had saved even more lives than that. The news also scared people, if one of the biggest light advocates could be sent to prison without a trial, someone who had always been vocal about their alliances and had showed it through his many actions, then anyone could be sent there without a trial and no one would be any the wiser.

It was later revealed by a journalist by the name of Bethany Allen in a later article that those that had caused the quite possible illegal incarceration of Sirius Black were Bartemius Crouch Sr., Previous Minister Millicent Bagnold and Chief Warlock Albus Dumbledore. This caused the public to turn on the previously liked political figures, especially the two that were still alive and in large ministry positions.

All of this caused a sort of confusion to befall everyone, especially those who had known Sirius, people like Altair Potter.

"I told you there was something not right about everything that happened with Sirius." Altair said to his nephew as they both sat beside each other at the dining table. They had been having breakfast together, talking about Harry's choice of electives for his third year, when the owl had arrived with the Daily Prophet. The cover had talked about Madame Bones's statement, and most of the issue had been filled with speculation on what had happened.

"I know, and I trusted your words Star, but I just couldn't believe that they would actually send someone innocent to prison. Now it says that he hadn't even gotten a trial?" Harry was very suspicious about this, as it seemed that something very fishy had happened related to this case.

"You have to understand, Harry, that it was a very dark time. While that does not excuse what they did to Padfoot, it does make it more…understandable in a sense. There was a lot of confusion at the ministry, and everyone in the DMLE was trying to catch as many Death Eaters as possible, even if that meant some innocent people got thrown with the lot as well."

Their conversation dissolved into a lesson on how the political arena was divided during the war. As they got absorbed in the discussion, they didn't notice someone silently apparating into the living room. They made their way through the house, and looked into the dining room to see the duo bantering loudly, laughing together. The person let a small smile grace their lips before they collapsed in exhaustion. The thud of the body falling to the ground attracted the two Potters' attention, as they immediately looked towards the source of the sound and found a body lying on the ground. The two gasped in shock, hurriedly getting up and running towards the body.

While Harry called for their head house elf, Winxy, Altair knelt beside the body and immediately recognised the person.

"Sirius?!"

"What were you thinking?!" Altair Potter shouted at a very exasperated Sirius Black, who was rolling his eyes at his honorary younger brother's words.

"I noticed that I wasn't rejected from the wards, and so I just thought I'd come here to lie low for a little bit, maybe get something to eat. I didn't think you'd be living here, with Harry no less."

"Where else would I be? The apartment I lived in fell under a death fidelius when James died, because he had bought it for me as a graduation gift, so it was his, not mine, and so I couldn't access it until Harry had come of age." Altair said, starting to get annoyed at his brother.

Harry was just staring at the argument happening between his uncle and godfather, slightly amused by their back and forth.

"How would I have known that? In any case, I'm sorry for barging in it, I didn't have anywhere else to go." Sirius said quietly, lowering his head slightly in shame.

Altair sighed quietly and sat down beside Sirius. "It's alright Siri, I'm glad you came here. You needed a lot of healing, and the elves could help you with that."

Sirius nodded his head in affirmation before he turned towards his godson, the reason he had escaped in the first place.

"Hello Harry." He said, smiling hesitantly at the young boy, shocked at how much he'd grown since he'd last seen him as a cute one year old.

"Hi Mr. Black." Harry said politely, returning the smile with a small one of his own.

"It's Sirius, kid, or Padfoot." Sirius replied to the formal address, laughing quietly at the politeness.

Harry nodded hesitantly, shuffling in place. Altair, noticing his nephew's discomfort, decided to save him from the awkward situation.

"Why don't you go read that runes book I told you about, Prongslet? You do need to decide on your electives by tomorrow."

Harry nodded at the suggestion, shooting his uncle a thankful smile at the save and left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.

"He doesn't like me." Sirius said sadly, holding his head in his hands.

"No, that's not it." Altair reassured. "He just doesn't know you. Harry is really shy around new people, and while I've told him stories about you, he doesn't really know you."

Sirius laughed quietly at that. "You raised him pretty well though."

At that statement, it was Altair's turn to bow his head in shame. "I didn't." At Sirius's confused look, he elaborated.

"He was taken by Dumbledore and sent to live with Petunia before I had the chance to even see him after everything. I was never able to contact him and didn't know where he was. I kept searching and searching but nothing came up. If it weren't for his friend, he wouldn't even be here now. Dumbledore stopped all contact between Harry and I, and there was nothing I could do. The reassurances that he was safe seemed to allow the ministry to refuse my taking custody." Altair's guilt at that topic was still very raw, and he let a few tears fall as he spoke. As soon as Sirius noticed Altair's tears, he pulled him into a tight hug and comforted him. After the tears had ebbed, from both males, they dissolved into an easy conversation to catch Sirius up on everything.

Sirius was still weak, however, and so, an hour after he'd woken up Altair left him to rest for a bit more. With good reason too, because as soon as Altair had left the room, Sirius was out like a light. The next time he started regaining consciousness, he heard three voices talking quietly around him. He decided to focus on the words spoken while still pretending to be asleep.

"-I've already sent a letter to Solicitor Tonks and she said that if it came down to a trial, she'd be more than happy to represent him. I also have Narcissa's full reassurance that the Malfoy seat and the Dark Alliance will be voting for his exoneration, as a way to help the House of Black and possibly reclaim an alliance with them. The Grey sect will also vote in his favour, in acknowledgement of the injustice that had occured. Those combined will be able to outvote the Light Alliance, even if all of them vote against, which is highly doubtful. That should be enough to get him free." A female voice seemed to explain to the rest of the room, her words surprising Sirius. He hadn't thought his cousins would help him this much.

"That's good. If all goes well, then Sirius should be free by the beginning of term at the latest." A voice he recognised as Altair's said.

"Thank you for all your help in this Lynette, really." Harry, for who else could it be, said to the female in the room, smile evident even if Sirius couldn't see it with his eyes closed.

"Of course Harry, I told you I'd have your back from now on, and I always mean what I say." The female voice (who he guessed was named Lynette) said, laughing at the end. "Well, I'll take my leave then. Make sure to inform Lord Black of everything once he wakes up, and I do hope he makes a full recovery soon."

The three exchanged formalities after that, and as soon as Harry had left to escort their guest to the floo, Altair moved to sit beside Sirius.

"How much of that did you hear?"

"Just the last part, are my cousins really helping me? And who's the girl?"

"They are. And the girl was Lynette Ambrosius, a friend of Harry's who's a year older than him."

"Ambrosius as in…" Sirius trailed off, not able to finish his impossible train of thought.

"Descended from Merlin? Yes." Altair continued for him, confirming Sirius's thoughts.

"And she's friends with Harry?!" For someone that powerful to be on his godson's side, it could be a real advantage.

"Yes, and she is a year older than him and has connections with every major Pureblood Family on every political side. Which is how she got Narcissa and Lucius to agree to help you, she's friends with their son. She was also the one to help got in contact with Andy on your behalf, and got her to represent you in court, and was even one of those that gathered the evidence that indicated you might be innocent with help from her allies, and got Susan Bones, Amelia Bones's ward and niece, to convince her aunt to reopen your case."

"So I basically owe a fourteen year old for getting me a trial?" Sirius said in exasperation at the ministry's incompetent law system. The fact that they needed a child to tell them what they hadn't seen in the first place was very baffling.

As their conversation continued, with Altair explaining to Sirius the plan they would be following to get him free, they didn't notice Harry coming to check up on them with a small smile on his face before leaving his two uncles to their own devices and going to the library to go over his electives again. He had finally limited them down to four and had to decide on two. He was sure he'd take Study of Ancient Runes, but he was debating between Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures and Divination. He knew what his heart was telling him, but he'd still like to ask his uncle, maybe even get Sirius's opinion on the matter as well.
