Chapter 65: The Empire Strikes Back Part 5
In Cloud City…
The door to another cell slides open and the muffled yells of Han become sharp piercing screams of agony and pain.
Darth Vader exited the cell and was approached by Lando, his aide and Boba Fett.
"Lord Vader!"Lando spoke up.
Darth Vader walked over to Boba Fett.
"You may take Captain Solo to Jabba the Hutt after I have Skywalker and Naberrie."Darth Vader declared.
"He's no good to me dead."Boba Fett retorted.
"He will not be permanently damaged."Darth Vader assured.
The Sith Lord headed to the elevator as Lando and his aide walked up to him.
The painful screams of Ferus and Nadia were heard in the background from the other rooms as Darth Vader and the others passed them.
"Lord Vader, what about Leia, the Wookiee and those two Jedi?"Lando asked.
"They must never again leave this city."Darth Vader replied.
"That wasn't part of our agreement, nor was giving Han to this bounty hunter!"Lando argued.
"Perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly."Darth Vader suggested.
"No."Lando answered quietly.
"Good."Darth Vader responded. "It would be unfortunate if I had to leave a garrison here."
Darth Vader disappeared in the elevator as Lando turned with his aide and walks swiftly down another corridor.
"This deal is getting worse all the time."Lando murmured.
In the Prison Cell…
Han was brought into a prison cell that Chewbacca was while trying to fix Threepio.
Chewbacca rushed over to help Han after the two stormtroopers threw him in.
"I feel terrible."Han murmured.
The other door opened before Leia, Ferus and Nadia were shoved into the room.
Nadia gives Ferus a quick kiss on the lips as they embraced each other.
"You look terrible."Nadia complemented with a worried smile.
Ferus let out a weak chuckle.
"I've survived worse than this."Ferus assured. "Though the scan grid makes walking feel painful."
Leia smiled a bit as she stroked Han's hair.
"Why are they doing this?"Leia asked.
"They never even asked me any questions."Han grumbled.
The doors suddenly opened as two Bespin guards came in with Lando.
Chewbacca growled at Lando while Han, Leia, Ferus and Nadia glared at him.
"Get out of here, Lando!"Han scowled.
"Shut up and listen."Lando ordered. "Vader's agreed to turn Leia, Chewie and the Jedi over to me."
"Over to you?"Nadia questioned in disbelief.
"You'll have to stay here, but all of you will be safe."Lando explained.
Ferus and Nadia glanced at each other.
"It doesn't sound like Vader to keep his own enemies alive."Ferus complemented.
"And Han?"Leia asked.
"Vader's given him to the bounty hunter."Lando admitted.
"Vader wants us all dead."Leia retorted with a glare.
"He doesn't want you at all."Lando stated. "He's after somebody called Skywalker and another person called Naberrie."
A wave of fear washed over Ferus' mind, hearing that his former brother in law was after his children.
"Luke and Lisa?"Han said in surprise.
"Lord Vader set a trap for them."Lando admitted.
"And we're the bait."Nadia finished.
"I sense both of them coming."Ferus declared with a hint of worry. "They're on their way here to Cloud City."
"Perfect."Han muttered as he stood up. "You fixed us all real good, didn't you? My friend."
Han punched Lando on the face causing Ferus to quickly grab him.
"Stop it, Solo!"Ferus demanded.
One of the guards hit Ferus with the back of his blaster, making him hit the ground.
Chewbacca growled and started for the guards, who point their weapons at him.
"Stop!"Lando demanded and the guards lowered their rifles before he looked at Han. "I've done all I can. Sorry I couldn't do better, but I got my own problems. "
"Yeah."Han muttered with a venomous tone. "You're a real hero."
Lando and the Bespin guards left the prison cell as Chewbacca, Nadia and Leia went to check on their comrades.
"We'll be dead before this over."Ferus muttered.
Nadia frowned. "Don't say such things."
Leia looked at Han.
"You certainly have a way with people."Leia stated.
"All this just to get those kids."Han said and glanced at Ferus. "What's so important about them?"
Ferus didn't answer the smuggler's question and just remained quiet.
In the Sky…
Luke and Lisa's X-wing flew towards Bespin that was in the distance.
Artoo beeped and whistled to Luke and Lisa which reads out on the scope.
"Yes Artoo, I'm sure Threepio is with them."Luke assured. "Just hold on, we'll be there soon."
"I just hope we're not too late."Lisa responded.
Arroyo let out a beep, agreeing with the blonde haired girl.
In the Carbon Freezing Chamber of Cloud City…
Darth Vader looked at the machinery before him.
He had promised Emperor Palpatine that he would return the children of Anakin Skywalker to him unharmed.
Both his son and daughter were strong with the force and Vader saw the potential that if they could be turned, they would indeed make powerful allies.
Obi-Wan and Ferus were wise to hide them from him, but eventually he discovered the truth and would now take great pleasure in finally capturing them.
A few workers rush about the large chamber that was filled with pipes and chemical tanks as Darth Vader and Lando stood near the platform.
"This facility is crude."Darth Vader declared. "But it should be adequate to freeze Skywalker and Naberrie for their journey to the Emperor."
An imperial officer approached the Sith Lord.
"Lord Vader, ship approaching, X-wing class."the imperial officer reported.
"Good."Darth Vader answered. "Monitor Skywalker and Naberrie. Allow them to land."
The imperial officer bowed and walked off as Lando went over to Darth Vader.
"Lord Vader, we only use this facility for carbon freezing."Lando admitted. "If you put them in there, it might kill them."
"I do not want the Emperor's prizes damaged."Darth Vader stated. "We will test it on Captain Solo."
With Boba Fett in the lead, a squad of stormtroopers bring in Han, Leia, Ferus, Nadia and Chewbacca.
Strapped to Chewie's back, with only his head, torso and one arm assembled was Threepio.
"If you'd attached my legs, I wouldn't be in this ridiculous position."Threepio complained. "Now remember, Chewbacca, you have a responsibility for me so don't do anything foolish."
Ferus and Nadia glared at the Sith Lord while Han moved a bit closer to Lando.
"What's going on, buddy?"Han asked with a hateful tone.
"You're being put into carbon freeze."Lando admitted.
The bounty Hunter glanced at Darth Vader.
"What if he doesn't survive?"Boba Fett questioned. "He's worth a lot to me."
"The Empire will compensate you if he dies."Darth Vader declared. "Put him in."
Chewbacca growled in anger as he got in front of his smuggling friend to prevent the stormtroopers from taking him.
"Chewbacca, stop!"Han demanded, surprising Ferus and Nadia. "No, Chewie, stop! You're going to get us all killed!"
Chewbacca calm down as Han went over to him.
"Yes, stop. I'm not ready to die."Han stated and the Wookiee opened his mouth to protest. "Hey! Hey! Listen to me. Chewie, this won't help me. Hey, save your strength. There'll be another time. The princess. You have to take care of her. Do you hear me?"
Chewbacca quietly takes in his captain's words before Leia gives Han a short passionate kiss, finally showing her true feelings.
Nadia embraced Leia as Han got dragged away by the two stormtroopers.
"I love you."Leia admitted.
"I know."Han assured.
Han walked to the hydraulic platform to be frozen in carbonite.
Ferus attempted to step forward to interfere but got caught by two stormtroopers.
"No! Wait!"Ferus protested, looking at the Sith Lord. "Vader! If it's a rebel leader you want, take me instead!"
"The Empire still has plans for you, General Olin."Darth Vader replied coldly. "You and Aomori will be meeting him shortly when I take both of you to be held in a facility."
Nadia paled at the mention of Darth Sidious as Ferus was brought next to her.
Han looked one final time at his friends and suddenly the platform dropped, making him disappear into the steaming vat of sub-zero cold.
Chewbacca howled in sorrow and Ferus shut his eyes as Nadia comforted Leia, who turned away in agony.
"What's going on?"Threepio asked. "Turn round! I can't see!"
After a couple of seconds, a huge mechanical tong lifted the metal encased space pirate out of the vat.
The two ugnaught workers, who had been operating the machine pushed it down and revealed Han fused into the metal.
Leia was startled to see the man she loved in a terrible position, but didn't cry.
Lando walked over to check if the smuggler survived the process.
"Oh! They've encased him in carbonite."Threepio remarked. "He should be quite well-protected, if he survived the freezing process, that is."
"Well, Calrissian, did he survive?"Darth Vader asked.
"Yes, he's alive."Lando admitted. "And in perfect hibernation."
"He's all yours, bounty hunter."Darth Vader declared and looked at his men. "Reset the chamber for Skywalker and Naberrie."
The imperial officer walked up to Darth Vader to report him the arrival of the Skywalker twins.
"Skywalker and Naberrie have just landed, my lord."the imperial officer declared.
"Good."Darth Vader answered. "See to it that they find their way in here."
The Sith Lord notice Lando going over to Leia and Chewbacca as two stormtroopers grab a hold of Nadia.
"Calrissian, take the princess and the Wookiee to my ship with the Jedi."Darth Vader ordered.
"You said they'd be left under my supervision with the Jedi."Lando reminded.
"I am altering the deal."Darth Vader responded in a harsh tone. "Pray I don't alter it any further."
Lando fell quiet as he turned back to Leia, Ferus, Nadia, Chewbacca and Threepio.
Meanwhile…
Luke, Lisa and Artoo moved carefully down the deserted corridor.
The Skywalker twins stopped walking and hid behind the wall as they heard a group of people coming down a side hallway.
Boba Fett entered from a side hallway followed by two guards carrying the encased body of Han Solo while two stormtroopers followed them from behind.
Luke held his blaster and Lisa held her lightsabers ready as Artoo beeped at them.
"Look out!"Lisa cried out.
Lisa moved Luke out of the way as Boba lowered his arm and fired a deadly laser which exploded to one side.
By the time, Luke and Lisa reached the side hallway, but Boba, Han and the guards were gone.
Luke glanced at Lisa.
"What is a bounty hunter doing here?"Luke questioned.
"Nothing good."Lisa replied with a frown. "That's for sure."
Luke and Lisa went to the other side of the hallway, just in time to see Ferus, Nadia, Leia, Chewbacca, Threepio, and Lando being herded away by a few stormtroopers down a second hallway.
Lisa activated her lightsabers to block the blasts of the stormtroopers from hitting her and Luke.
"Luke! Lisa!"Ferus shouted. "Run! Don't go there!"
"It's a trap!"Leia yelled out. "It's a trap!"
Before the Alderaanian Princess can finish, the group turned a corner and were gone.
Luke and Lisa raced after them, leaving little Artoo trailing behind.
The Skywalker twins run into the zero-cold chamber and stopped when they realised Leia and the others were nowhere in sight.
Artoo were whistling down the corridor to the chamber when a giant metal door comes slamming down with a loud clang, cutting off Luke and Lisa's exit.
Luke and Lisa stood back to back as they later find themselves in the freezing chamber.
"The Force is with you, young Skywalkers, but neither are you are Jedi yet."Darth Vader declared.
Luke and Lisa turned around to see Darth Vader standing in a platform above them.
Neither of the Skywalker twins didn't show any sign of fear seeing the Sith Lord.
"Mum, Vader is standing before us."Lisa thought in a firm tone. "Please lend us your strength to confront him."
Luke and Lisa slowly headed to approach Darth Vader in silence.
The two jedi activated their blue lightsabers while Darth Vader activated his blood red blade.
The Skywalker twins then started duelling against Darth Vader.
In the Corridor...
Ferus, Nadia, Leia, Lando, Chewie and Threepio marched along between four stormtroopers.
Lando suddenly stopped before the sergeant of the guard.
The guards immediately aim their weapons at the startled imperial officer and stormtroopers.
"Well done."Lando complemented, looking at his aide. "Hold them in the security tower. And keep it quiet. Move."
The Bespin guards took the imperial officer and the stormtroopers away as Lando handed two blasters to Leia.
"What do you think you're doing?"Nadia questioned.
"We're getting out of here."Lando admitted.
Lando uncuffed Ferus and Nadia before handing them their lightsabers.
"I knew all along."Threepio commented. "It had to be a mistake."
"Do you think that after what you did to Han-"Leia started.
Lando uncuffed Chewbacca, only for the wookiee to start strangling him.
"I had no choice."Lando gagged. "I'm just trying to help. There's still a chance to save Han...at the east ...platform."
"Chewbacca, release him."Ferus insisted. "Lando has a change of heart."
Chewbacca released Lando, who rubbed his throat.
"I'm terribly sorry about all this."Threepio apologised. "After all, he's only a Wookiee."
Leia handed one of the blasters to Chewbacca.
Ferus, Nadia, Leia and Chewbacca started heading after the bounty hunter as Lando and Artoo followed them.
Artoo beeped as he went over to his old friends.
"Artoo, where have you been?"Nadia questioned.
"Where are Luke and Lisa?"Ferus demanded.
Artoo let out a worried beep in respond.
"With Vader."Ferus said in shock.
"We're trying to save Han from the bounty hunter right now, Ferus."Nadia reminded. "The next problem will be for later."
"Behind you!"Threepio warned.
Chewbacca and Leia started firing at the incoming stormtroopers as Ferus and Nadia activated their lightsabers to help them out.
In the Freezing Chamber...
Darth Vader sent Lisa flying backwards with a Force push when she attempted to strike him down.
Lisa got to her feet to see Luke and Vader were already engaged in battle.
Luke attempted to make a blow with his lightsaber, but the Sith Lord easily stopped the attack aimed at his chest plate with his red blade.
Lisa immediately joined Luke as they clashed their lightsabers with Darth Vader.
"You have learned much, young ones."Darth Vader complemented.
"You'll find we're full of surprises."Luke admitted.
Luke and Lisa continued clashing their blades with the Sith Lord before he threw their weapons down the platform.
The siblings quickly jumped down the platform before the Sith Lord's blade could hit them.
The Skywalker twins got back up on their feet when Darth Vader landed in front of them.
"Your destiny lies with me, Skywalker and Naberrie."Darth Vader stated. "Obi-Wan knew this to be true."
"No."Luke responded.
"That's a lie."Lisa scowled with a glare.
Before they realised, Luke and Lisa were thrown into the open platform and inside the vat.
"All too easy."Darth Vader sneered.
Darth Vader used the Force to activate the machine but didn't realise his children quickly going up before either of them got caught in the freezing steam.
The Dark Lord of the Sith glanced down at the steaming vat, feeling unimpressed that capturing both of his children was without any difficulty.
"Perhaps you're not as strong as the Emperor thought."Darth Vader complemented.
The Sith Lord looks up in surprise to see that Luke and Lisa have leapt fifteen feet straight up and were now hanging from some of the hoses on the carbonite ladle.
"Impressive."Darth Vader remarked.
Darth Vader attempted to slash the twins with his red blade, but they climbed higher to avoid his attack.
"Most impressive."Darth Vader added.
Lisa grabbed one of the broken pipes to blast the freezing steam on Darth Vader's face before she and Luke summoned their lightsabers back to them.
The Skywalker twins blocked their lightsabers with the Dark Lord again
"Obi-Wan and Ferus have taught you both well. You have controlled your fear."Darth Vader declared. "Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy me."
Luke looked around for a means of escape.
There was only one which was a round tunnel with pipes and conduit running through it.
Noticing her twin brother's plan, Lisa used her free hand to throw nearby crates at Darth Vader to distract him.
Luke jumped down the area below before his twin sister joined him before throwing one more crate at the Sith Lord.
"There is no escape."Darth Vader declared grimly. "You will use the dark side of The Force...or perish. Let your hate flow and save yourselves."
Luke and Lisa made a run for it into the tunnel ahead with Vader following them like a hunter that was hunting his preys.
The Skywalkers soon realised Darth Vader was no longer behind them, but they still kept their lightsabers on.
They were then forced back into the cluttered control area of the reactor that powers the city.
Luke and Lisa stood together as the Sith Lord suddenly started throwing pipes and wires causing steam, fluid and sparks to fly everywhere.
However when the Skywalker twins ducked down to avoid being hit by a crate it caused the window behind them to get shattered and it made Luke got sucked through by the depressurization of the room.
Lisa quickly just dove through the broken window right after him, pulling her brother back onto the catwalk before he fell down the shaft that went straight through Cloud City.
Luke and Lisa moved behind a tall storage case, which was neatly cut in two by one of Darth Vader's blows.
Several electronic tools sitting on the control panel fly at Luke and Lisa.
They managed to deflect the projectiles and, at the same time, hold off their deadly opponent.
But the two siblings were now battered cut in several places, tired and somewhat dazed.
Meanwhile...
Boba Fett's ship takes off against cloud sky at sunset before the group could come and save the smuggler.
Ferus and Nadia stood together as they slashed the stormtroopers in front of them as Leia and Chewbacca blasted the ones coming from the other side.
The group then headed to the other side which revealed a blocked entrance.
"The security code has been changed."Lando exclaimed.
"R2, you can tell the computer to override the security systems."Threepio insisted.
"Do it, Artoo."Nadia ordered. "We need to get out of here."
Artoo beeped at his old war friend.
The little droid connected his little hand to undo the code as Lando made announcement to warn the people of Cloud City.
"Attention. This is Lando Calrissian. Attention."Lando announced. "The Empire has taken control of the city. I advise everyone to leave before more imperial troops arrive."
Suddenly Artoo got zapped and Chewbacca quickly brought him back up.
"This way."Lando insisted.
The group headed down the hallway in front of them and saw people running in order to escape Cloud City.
More stormtroopers started coming as the group headed to the platform which was where the Millennium Falcon was.
However the group were able to get inside the Millennium Falcon and take off in the sky before they could get captured again.
In the Reactor Control Station...
Luke and Lisa were struggling to fight against Darth Vader.
Both of them were tired, but it didn't seem that their deadly opponent wasn't close on breaking a sweat.
"You are beaten."Darth Vader threatened. "It is useless to resist. Don't let yourself be destroyed as Obi-Wan did."
Luke clashed his lightsaber against Darth Vader as he and his sister were getting backed away to the dead of the catwalk.
Lisa stood on the small platform at the end of the narrow catwalk, waiting for her brother to move so there would be more space for the two of them to fight Vader together.
The blonde haired girl cried out in terror when saw the Sith Lord cut off her brother's right hand that still grasped his lightsaber.
Luke screamed in pain of losing his right hand, horrifying Lisa.
"Luke!"Lisa shouted.
"There is no escape."Darth Vader scowled. "Don't make me destroy you."
Luke started to shuffle back to join Lisa at the small platform before he could lose anymore of his limbs.
"Luke. Lisa. Neither of you do not yet realize your importance."Darth Vader stated. "You have only begun to discover your power. Join me...and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy."
"We'll never join you!"Luke shouted.
"You are a monster!"Lisa yelled out. "Your insane to think we would turn against our friends to help you!"
"If you two only knew the power of the Dark Side."Darth Vader said. "Obi-Wan or Ferus never told you what happened to your father."
"They told us enough!"Luke snapped as he went closer to his twin sister. "They told us you killed him!"
"You also killed our mother!"Lisa growled. "You took both of them away from all of us!"
"No."Darth Vader replied deeply. "I am your father."
There was no words to describe how Luke and Lisa felt when they heard Darth Vader's sentence.
What give them away were their expressions mixed in horror and shock.
It was a lie.
A lie that Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith was their own father, Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One that will bring back balance to the Force.
It had to be a cruel joke.
"No. No..."Luke denied in pure shock. "That's not true. That's impossible!"
"Your lying!"Lisa argued tearfully. "You can't be our father!"
"Search your feelings."Darth Vader insisted. "You know it to be true."
"NOOOO!"Luke cried out in defeat and looked down.
"No..."Lisa whimpered in sorrow.
Tears developed in Lisa's beautiful brown eyes as she and Luke felt pain and sadness develop in their hearts.
It was true.
Their father was alive, but somebody nobody can never imagine.
A person who plagued the whole galaxy in fearful darkness and took so many loved ones again.
Ferus and Obi-Wan have lied to them.
"Luke. Lisa. You can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny."Darth Vader declared. "Join me...and together we can rule the galaxy as a family."
Luke and Lisa looked down at the bottomless shaft below them, both gaining the same idea in their heads.
The Skywalkers twins looked back at Darth Vader since they knew what they have to do.
"Come with me."Darth Vader insisted, offering his hand out. "It is the only way."
Both Luke and Lisa jumped off the edge of the platform and started falling down the endless abyss.
Darth Vader stood at the catwalk and watched as his son and daughter fall down below until he can no longer see them.
The two siblings slid down a slide like entrance and ended up in the weather vane that was at the bottom of the city.
Lisa held her brother tightly to prevent him from falling but was struggling to hold him.
"Ferus. Nadia, please."Lisa cried. "Hear me."
"Leia..."Luke whispered. "Leia..."
Luke and Lisa hanged on the weather vane as they felt their energy slipping away.
The sound of the Millennium Falcon was heard as the ramp opened to reveal Ferus and Nadia.
Ferus caught Luke and Lisa felt being caught by Nadia as her eyes started to close slowly.
"We got them, Chewie!"Ferus' voice yelled out. "Take us out of here!"
Then everything turned black.
And now Luke and Lisa have learned the truth...
