Arriving at the location Noise sent had been tricky. Heroes of all kinds had arrived and closed off the area. Twice he had to duck back into the shadows before he finally reached a good rooftop. The scene below was enough to make even the most hardened hero queasy.
Blood was absolutely everywhere. It stained the ground, the dumpster, up the walls of the nearby buildings. If he wasn't mistaken there was even some blood on the windows closest those on the ground. A very reminiscent picture of just over a year ago. An alleyway where he had fought the blue haired man and his warp villain.
The difference was there were two on the ground similarly soaked in blood. One Izuku recognized as Noise. The other must be the hero. Even from a distance Izuku could tell things were not looking good for Kage. There was too much blood they needed to get him to a hospital.
As if hearing thoughts Noise looked up and their eyes met. Noise focused in on him drowning out the others and brightening their connection.
The older vigilante ordered, "Be careful, Fear. Stain is out there and he is looking for you."
:Why me? How does he even know that I exist?: questioned back the younger.
"The streets have ears, kid," replied Noise, "And unfortunately for you the streets do not always favor our kind. Someone has spoken of you or Stain has hacked the police files. I wouldn't put it past him as they keep not only vigilante routes but known underground routes. I suspect that's how he was able to ambush Kage so quickly after arriving. Watch your back or if you can stay off the streets until he is gone."
Izuku straightened as he denied, :I won't hide. Not again. Musutafu needs its vigilante and with you out of commission that means there are one less pair of eyes on the streets.:
"Kid," reprimanded Noise, "We both know that fighting Stain alone is suicide."
:Now who said anything about fighting him,: Izuku replied a mischievous light entering his eyes, :There is more than one way to force someone out of my city. I don't have to fight him to make his life difficult.:
"You and your schemes," sighed Noise as Kage was taken away on a stretcher with a blood transfusion already started, "Just be careful. AND DONT GET CAUGHT!"
:You be careful,: shot back Izuku without any real heat behind his words, :I am not the one who has to escape the heroes and the police. There has to be half a dozen undergrounds around there.:
As Izuku prepared to drop a few smoke bombs to aid in his friend's escape there was a shift in the air behind him. With his senses on high alert he was just able to detect it in time to throw himself to the side. A white cloth flew through the air where he had been just seconds before. Eraser.
Turning to face the hero he gathered a smoke bomb laced with pepper spray in one hand and a knife in the other. Just in case he had to fight his way out of this.
In the back of his mind he heard, "Fear what is it?"
:Our favorite sleepyhobo has decided to pay me a visit.:
"Now?"
:Now. Talk to you later, Noise. I have a nosy hero to deal with.:
"Try not to make him fall off the roof kid," snarked the older, "That quirk of yours could make All Might himself turn tail."
The two shared a mental laugh. Neither vigilante could stand All Might and his quirkist views. If it wasn't a strong physical quirk the Number 1 Hero didn't think the person belonged in the Heroics Field.
Which was absolute bullshit. Anyone could be a hero if they put in the work for it. Some would have it harder than others but it was possible to be a hero. Even if you had to go an unconventional route or become an underground hero. Or in cases like Noise and Fear become vigilantes.
Part of being a hero was helping out even when you weren't wanted. If you could do something to save a life then it was your duty to do so. That was what he firmly believed. Heroes weren't just those who fought villains. They were firefighters, police, paramedics, doctors, the person who stops to help a struggling stranger for no reason other than trying to be kind. As Noise had once told him even the smallest light shines in the darkness. He wholeheartedly believed the phrase now.
Now however he had to fight a hero in name and actions. Eraserhead was someone he admired for his fighting style. The man seemed like he was callous by nature but if it came down to it he could comfort even the most heartbroken child.
So green and red eyes clashed against each other. Izuku signed, 'Are you doing to do that every time you come to see me? What will you do if I don't dodge?'
Eraser smirked as he replied, "It's a good way to keep you on your toes. There are a few heroes out there that weren't happy to hear about your agreement with Tsukauchi. Many still don't believe Fear exists."
Izuku rolled his eyes. That was nothing new. They no doubt thought he was just someone taking advantage of the police. It wasn't like he cared what they thought about him.
He signed in question, 'How is Kage?'
Eraser winced as he replied, "His injuries are severe but unless Stain changed his M.O. to adding poison then he will live. I don't think there will be any permanent damage but that hospital will give a better idea."
Izuku sighed in relief. That was something at least. Kage was a good hero, a good man. He didn't deserve to die because Stain was searching for him. Still there was the issue that Stain got away. He was still out there somewhere and that spelt bad tidings for heroes and vigilantes alike.
Eraser questioned, "What are you thinking?"
'Stain.'
Eraser said his voice suddenly incredulous, "You're not going after him? That's suicide."
Izuku didn't deign the man with an answer. What he did was his own business. No one else's. Turning his back he made to leave.
Only to stop when Eraser called out, "If you plan to go after his directly let us know. We can help."
There was no answer as he faded into the shadows. Agreement or not he wasn't going to risk everyone because one psychopath was after him. It was why he withheld it from Tsukauchi in the first place.
