"Are you sure you can walk from here?" Revali said standing next to Xeri. Cigar lit in one hand, he puffed on it before blowing it out. "The castle is still a good mile or two away. I could get you there in fifteen minutes."
"I think I'm alright. You just get back to village and warn them. They need you more than I do kid." He took the last puff of the cigar before plucking it. "Get going. Stick to the plan."
The Rito nodded before quickly flying away. He looked at the sight of Hyrule Castle in the stance. Standing in a grassy field, he felt a rain drop fall on his cheek. And just like that, rain had heavily poured down. Taking his hood, he put it over his head and began to walk towards the Castle.
Zelda. I'm coming for you darling. When did it stop? The running? The tiresome nights? The violence?
He heard a hard snap behind him. He froze. He looked over his shoulder to see a gold-man like figure in the distance. He turned around to face it and behold a Gold Lynel seething towards him.
"I seriously don't have time for this shit." His adrenaline started to kick in as it lightly trotted towards him. The Lynel stopped about 15 feet in front of him before-
"It's an honor to finally meet you, Xeri." The Lynel spoke.
His eyes were as wide as the planet when it spoke to him. He almost shitted his pants right on the spot. The Lynel laughed a darkly laugh. When the fuck did monsters talk!?
"Bit your tongue? I'm sure you have something to say, it isn't everyday you see a Lynel talking to a Hylian." The Lynel said. A fucking Lynel was talking to him, speaking perfect English and complete sentences.
"What the fuck is this?"
"I'm glad you like it. It seems Ganondorf has really outdone himself. But I won't spoil the secret ingredients. That's not why I'm here." The Lynel began to circle around him. "I can't let you leave this field. Alive. Ganondorf requested that your corpse be brought to him so he can put your head on a pike. So you can surrender here, and die. Or you choose how I kill you."
"So instead of coming out himself and being a man, he sends a lackey." The Lynel growled at him. "You don't mean anything to this life, you serve no purpose. Not before the voice nor after the voice."
The Lynel began to breathe more aggressively. He drew his sword and shield before positioning himself in a stance. "And here I though we could settle this the easy way."
His blood began to boil and he drew his swords. "Get out of my way."
The Lynel didn't budge. Instead of doing so, he began to charge at Xeri. Bringing the sword down from his head, Xeri side stepped this before trying a slash himself. The Lynel positioned his shield to his side, parrying the attack and slamming his elbow into Xeri.
Stumbling back, he had a sour taste in his mouth. He spit a glob of red before chuckling. "My grandmother hits harder than you."
The Lynel roared before swiping at Xeri's head, he ducked low to dodge it and doing so successfully he spun around clenching onto his sword. He swung wildly, and in a swift 360 motion his sword connected with the Lynel's cheek. Swiftly cutting a nice gash on the side of it's face.
It growled with anger. "I'm afraid that just doesn't do it. You won't win this give up old man."
The Lynel swung the sharp ends of it's shield in the direction of Xeri. Blocking it, he used the opportunity to swipe his sword across the Lynel's torso marking him deeply. Seemingly not affected, the Lynel went back on offense. Swinging the sword wildly, in a desperate attempt to hit and kill Xeri. Successfully dodging all the attempts, he wasn't fast enough.
The Lynel cut deep into his side, but not deep enough to kill him. He fell over before quickly throwing himself up. He went to touch it and felt his shirt soaked with blood. A nice sharp cut, right above his old one. He looked at the Lynel who had a smirk on his face.
"You won't win this Warrior. I'm just too good now." Xeri chuckled before swinging downwards again. Missing, Xeri used the opportunity to use his fist to punch the Lynel's in it's face. Not affected, the Lynel quickly spun around and ran in a opposite direction.
Before he turned and at full speed, charged head on at Xeri. Barely jumping out the way, it had seemed everything had moved in slow motion. He had been so focused it had seem as if time stopped.
And not long, he cut deep into the Lynel's torso. The Lynel had dug it's fingers into the ground to stop itself. It seethed in anger, almost looking like in pain. It looked at the wound before drawing it's weapon again. "Maybe I underestimated you, but it won't change a thing."
The Lynel jumped high into the air before putting both hands on it's sword before bringing it downwards. Xeri had damn near slipped on the wet ground, rolling to the left. The Lynel missed once again. In anger, he spun around with the sword with him. Xeri slid back, the sword barely missing him. He hopped forward and slashed at the Lynel's arm. That's it!
He began to use his defense, the Lynel would attack and miss while Xeri distracted him from. Slashing all around it's arm, the Lynel had been forced to drop the sword. In anger and possibly pain, the Lynel threw the shield.
A swift punch to his side with the wound was enough to almost kill him. In one swift motion, Xeri had screamed in anger before aggressively swiping at the side of it's neck.
The Lynel's eyes had been opened wide open, in an attempt to cover the gaping wound on it's neck. It almost collapsed onto the ground. Xeri threw the dual swords before giving the Lynel a deathly blow to the head, enough for the Lynel to fall over with the wound on it's neck.
Xeri had breathed heavily. He looked at the Lynel sword, knowing he won this battle. He wanted to finish this fucker. Picking it up, he stood above of the Lynel's head. Watching it choke on it's own blood
"You won't get to her, it's already too late-" Xeri had brought the sword down on it's neck before blood had spurt out, and not long before it was lying dead.
"Should've walked away when you had the chance...bitch." The rain poured heavily onto the land, drops landing on the middles aged man's brown skin. He faltered, dropping to his knees as he dropped the gigantic Lynel sword, the clang almost startled him as to how much the weapon weighed. Blood was everywhere, the beast he slaughtered lied dead on the ground.
Slashes all over it's muscular body, a deathly cut alongside it's neck which ultimately killed the Lynel in which instantly ended the fight. Gold. Red and gold mixed into the ground and created bloodied puddles of water. His green eyes looked up towards the sky, streaks of lightning filled the sky tempting to strike him if it got the first chance. His brown skin wet with rain, his beard soaking. Drops of water fell from his pointed ears, rain fell onto his muscles and body. Drops of rain poured down his clothes soaking him, muscular arms glistening in the pouring weather.
A teardrop fell from his green eye, slightly stinging his bruised cheek. Violence was what he knew. All he ever knew. All he'll ever know. Bang! A ear deafening sound had came from the direction the Castle. He shifted on his knee, facing the castle to watch the castle's lights all shutoff in the night. He must be in the castle! Eyes widening, he went to stand up. The wound on his side obviously slowing him down.
He picked up the Lynel sword before his other sword before sheathing the third sword. He was coming to find Zelda.
The rain hadn't stopped. And it didn't help that he was soaking wet and soaked in that Lynel's blood. He held his sword in his right hand, and the Lynel sword in the other. He walked through the empty Castle Town. Nothing but old paper and trash had flown in the wind mixed with the rain.
He stepped in a puddle. He stopped before looking at his reflection. He looked at total mess. He was soaking wet and caked in blood, his sword was still dripping blood and the dried blood had laid on the Lynel sword.
The wound he had was still bleeding, and he had bags under his eyes. He hadn't slept in a couple days. His skin was discolored brown instead of the chocolate brown he usually was. He was bleeding out.
He didn't have the supplies to treat his wound, but the pain was motivation. That it would hurt a thousand times more if Zelda died. He gritted his teeth and looked towards the castle gates spotting two Lizalfos guarding it.
He fearlessly made his way towards him, they had spotted him before realizing he wasn't a friendly. "It's him!"
The green Lizalfos quickly rushed towards him with an attempted attack, but Xeri wasn't having it. Sidestepping, he dug the sword into the head of the monster, watching it fall dead and limp. He saw the other charge at him, in a swift motion he flung the Lynel sword at the monster.
Lodging it in it's skull. It also fell limp. Xeri forcefully pulled the sword from the Lizalfos head. And walked towards the other one, snatching the weapon from the monster's body forcefully.
The gates were already creaked opened and he didn't know if he could muster the strength to push it open. He had wondered how long he could keep going like this.
He heard rumbling, multiple footsteps. He turned back to an army of Bokoblin's running towards him, he pressed the door as hard as he could feeling it began to open more. There were gaining on him when a sudden explosions had erupted, knocking them off one by one.
Multiple Rito flew by and he had seen Revali nod towards him before flying off.
"Xeri!" He heard behind him. Urbosa had sprinted towards him. "Thank Hylia your alright. You look like crap, what happened?"
"A Lynel ran into me." He said deadpanned. Urbosa gazed through his soul with squinted eyes. "Where is Daruk and Mipha?"
"They're forces are coming as we speak, Revali and I just made it here."
"Those bastards can talk now, it's haunting." Xeri said.
"I'm aware," Urbosa swallowed heavily. "You need to get in there, she's waiting for you. Hyrule's counting on you."
Xeri softly smiled before she leaned in and kissed his bruised cheek. He felt a warmth in his body but he wasn't about to express it. He slipped in between the gate cracks and slowly closed it. Watching Urbosa exit from his sight.
He walked the walk way, eventually making it into the castle. It was dark, and gloomy. Creaks were the only thing he heard. The halls were empty, weapons scattered around. He made his way around the castle, he was dead set on finding her.
He turned a corner and a Moblin had appeared. It roared before trotting towards him with a claymore. It raised it above it's head leaving its midsection open. Xeri used the Lynel sword to slash a gash right down the middle. Dropping the claymore, the Moblin had stumbled back with a cry.
It flung it's foot in the direction of Xeri's face. Xeri ducked, before cutting deep into it's ankle. Relying on one foot, the Moblin tried to retreat. But not before Xeri swiped at it's other foot. It fell with a roar, and Xeri had calmly walked towards it. He brought the sword down not once or twice. But three times. It's snout barely hanging off it's face as it laid dead in the middle of the hall. Xeri carelessly walked passed it's corpse turning a sharp corner to where the Sanctum was located.
"Xeri!" He heard from behind them. It was a castle worker, Bardeen. He limped towards him. A huge wound wrapped in gauze had appeared on his leg. "Boy, I'm glad I found you."
"What are you doing here Bardeen?" Xeri asked. That was the right question, what was he doing here?
"I had been hiding for so long." That didn't answer my question. Xeri had been eyeing his wound. It was a clean sharp cut right across the thigh.
"How'd you get that cut?" Xeri asked.
"I had ran into some trouble with a Lizalfos. It had that little boomerang thing."
Xeri scoffed. "Boomerangs don't make a clean cut like that."
Bardeen was silent, and Xeri had been waiting. A deep cut in his thigh. Bardeen suddenly pulled a sickle from behind but not before Xeri had plunged his sword into his abdomen. Coughing blood, he dug deeper making sure to hear his screams. "Your the Yiga that got away."
He twisted the sword inside of him to get an answer and what was answer was a scream. "That's right, I helped capture her."
He forcefully pulled the sword from his abdomen, and watched the traitor fall to his knees. Blood spilled from his mouth and a maniac giggle came from the former castle worker. "Why?" Was all that Xeri asked.
"For the thrill! Ganondorf made a proposal I couldn't turn down! He offered me a better position than this damned castle had ever." Bardeen explained with an evil smile. Xeri roughly grabbed his neck before looking at him in his eyes. "Are you going to kill me? Go ahead, it won't change the fact that Ganondorf will take over-"
Xeri plunged the sword into his neck, watching the man's smile turn into a a helpless expression. Warm blood had spit from it and landed on his hand, he roughly took the sword out and watched the lifeless man fall to the ground with a thud. He stopped before looking back at the betrayer. He grabbed the former shell of a man by the hair, before swiftly beheading him with the Lynel sword. The rest of his body had fallen limp onto the floor, holding the detached head by the hair, he felt blood spurt onto his pant leg. He didn't care at this point, it wasn't like he wasn't caked in blood.
He continued the walk until he finally made it to the sanctum. He saw a dark figure sitting on the throne with a smirk on his face. Xeri made sure to toss the beaded head of Bardeen into the middle of the sanctum. He looked at it with almost a grimace before his brow furred into anger. He closed his eyes before lightly chuckling.
"So your the legendary Xeri," Ganondorf said. He looked him up and down before squinting. "You look a mess."
"Your lackeys ran into me." Xeri darkly said. "That Lynel? Dead. Those Lizalfos? Dead. That Moblin? Dead. Bardeen? Dead as well."
Ganondorf didn't say anything but sneered. His evil glare turned into an amused one. "Well I can't say I'm not impressed. I'm starting to begin to think your the chosen one. Yes, quite a resume for you. May I ask, how are you capable of putting on such a fight?"
Xeri stared at him clenching his sword tightly. "A life of pain will do that to you." It was silent for a moment as the two men looked at each other with intensity. Death glares enough to kill each other. "Where is she?"
"She's alive," Ganondorf replied. He scoffed before chuckling. "For now. When I'm through with you and this damned land, I'll be sure to feed her to the monsters."
Xeri clenched the sword tightly and quaked violently. "That won't happen." He began to walk forward.
Before he knew it, the ground had caved in and he fell through. It was five seconds before he hit the ground again, the cold hard ground was not nice to his landing, it had felt as if a horse had rear kicked him but a thousand times worse. He looked around to see nothing but dark corners and walls.
"Xeri?" His head snapped behind him and there stood none other than Zelda. She had smudges of dirt on her, she looked as if she hasn't ate all week and her gold hair was now caked with brown and dirt. An old ripped up shirt that barely hid anything was enough to make his blood boil.
"Zel. My god." He rushed toward her embracing her. She wrapped her arms around him before he groaned from her squeezing his wound. He groaned before she had quickly released
"Xeri, who did this to you?" She asked.
He looked at the wound before looking at her. Her gorgeous green eyes stared into his. He smiled before embracing her once again. "It's been a rough week love, I'm glad your okay."
"Where's Link?" She had asked.
"He uhh, his injuries were too complicated for him to fight alongside us."
"I feel terrible," She said. "He saved me, and told me to find help. But they captured me before I could do anything. I feel so terrible." She almost began to weep.
"Zelda," Xeri lifted her chin up. "Everything will be fine-" a thud had interrupted the two. Xeri had turned around to see Ganondorf with a glowing orange weapon in his hand.
"I'm glad you two could reunite, but I'm sorry to cut it so short." Ganondorf sarcastically commented. Grabbing the two swords, Xeri stood directly in front of him. The evil king had stepped two steps closer that they were in striking distance. "I hope you know what your getting into mortal."
Xeri didn't falter nor back down. He used his free hand to push Zelda farther behind him. "It's getting late. Let's get this done."
Ganondorf sneered. Before the two men rushed at each other.
