Arc Two: Deathstroke

Chapter Eleven: School's Out

Entry #59

It's been a week since my meeting with Slade at Pier 41. After Robin watched the footage, he called for a team meeting to discuss what was found. The others were outraged, of course, and Raven said that she would begin checking for any signs of mind wipe amongst the Titans. Robin and Cyborg have started upgrading the security, and Robin plans to leave for Gotham as soon as that's done. We can't trust any of the mail services provided by the League, as that may lead to a mind wipe.

We've determined that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman may be the only founding members of the League that we can trust, as both Superman and Wonder Woman weren't there at the time and have the moral strength to reject this prospect, and Batman was the one who was mind wiped.

I haven't told anyone—aside from Raven—about Slade being my father. However, I may have to soon, given that Slade could make this revelation to Robin, and given how Robin acts around Slade…best that he hears it from me.

I sighed as I put down the pencil and itched my right shoulder again. The itch had gotten worse over time, and I considered getting it examined in the medical bay. However, given all that has happened recently, it's probably a bit foolish to get concerned over what might be just a bad rash.

I blinked as I heard a knock on the door. "Ah—coming!" I walked to my door and opened it, and found Raven on the other side, her face set in its usual stoic frown.

"May I come in?" She drawled.

I almost blushed. A girl—the girl that I had a rather considerable crush on—was asking me if she wanted to come into my room.

"…Sure." I replied, moving out of the way and allowing her access. The mage walked in, gave the room a look over, and then turned back to me.

"Are you going to tell the others?" She asked me. I knew what she was talking about the moment the words left her mouth.

"Not yet." I replied. "I think they still need time to process what we found out."

Raven hummed and nodded her head. "Remember, so long as they don't know, Slade can use the information to divide us."

I scoffed. "Like he hasn't…" I trailed off as I noticed gas emitting from the vents. "Raven we need to—!"

Unknown. With Robin.

The Boy Wonder gasped as he began to struggle against whatever restraints were holding him. Had the League found out? Were they going to be mind wiped? Had they already BEEN mind wiped? Then, Robin actually bothered to look around the room. Whatever this place was, it certainly wasn't the Watchtower. He—and the other Titans—were in a large, partially lit atrium that had black and white floor tiles with several balconies lining the walls, alongside paintings of a man with red hair and glasses.

Robin examined the other Titans. They were all restrained to chairs similar to his own, but each of the restraints were different in some way. Starfire had bands around her wrists that glowed a dull red color, Cyborg was trapped in a full metal brace, Raven had some form of white light binding her to her seat, Beast Boy was restrained by some sort of massive rubber band, and Blitzkrieg was bound in a similar manner to Robin.

The others began to awaken, and then chaos erupted. The Titans began to struggle against their restraints, to no avail.

"Am I the only one with NO IDEA WHERE WE ARE!?" Beast Boy screamed.

"You're right where you belong, my duckies!" A Cockney accented voice spoke from one of the balconies. Suddenly, someone leapt down onto the stairs in front of them. That someone was a man in his late forties with red hair and sunglasses and a rather…interesting sense of style. Said sense of style made him look like the embodiment of the stereotypical British man. Said man also carried a cane with a red ruby on the tip. "You're in school!"

For a moment, there was deadly silence. Then the protests began.

"LET US OUT YOU FUCKING—!"

"NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO!"

"I'VE ALREADY HAD MY EDUCATION—!"

"BE QUIET!" The man shouted. "I wasn't finished talking."

The man took out a cigarette, lit it, breathed out some smoke, and then started again. "As I was saying, you six are the only students at Mad Mod's Institute for Bratty Teenage Do-Gooders." The man—now identified as Mad Mod—began as he twirled the cane. "And it's high-time that someone taught you a lesson!"

The man gave the heroes a wry smirk as he withdrew a remote. Mad Mod pressed a button on the remote, and a projector turned on, displaying several images. "Yes, I've been watching you children misbehave…" Mad Mod scowled as an image of Beast Boy and Blitzkrieg fighting Thunder and Lighting appeared. "And I despise misbehaving children." Another picture of the Titans fighting the HIVE agents. "Fighting crime…" Another image of Robin and Starfire cradling a group of kittens. "Saving lives…" Another picture of…Beast Boy pulling down Plasmus' pants? "Interfering with the plans of hard-working villains. Why, you lot are nothing but a lot of troublemakers!"

Mod smirked. "But you'll learn your place soon enough."

Blitz flinched at the phrase.

"You see," Mad Mod continued. "I'm older than you. That means that I'm bigger, badder, and better than every single one of you!"

Then, the bell rang, and Mad Mod smiled.

"And there's the bell!" He turned back to the Titans and gave them a two-fingered salute. "See ya in class, duckies!"

Later. Unknown. With the Teen Titans.

Ten minutes had passed since Mad Mod had abducted the heroes. During these ten minutes, five of the six Titans had reunited and had attempted to defeat Mad Mod. These attempts had ended in numerous failures, with the Titans always ending up back in the atrium where they started. There were no signs of their sixth member either, no matter how many areas they searched…at least, until now.

The Titans entered the Atrium for what must have been the tenth time and found their black-clad comrade in the center of the room, facing away from them. Beast Boy stepped forward. "Blitz? Is that you?"

The electro-kinetic turned towards them in a slow, robotic motion. Beast Boy stepped back a little, his eyes widening as he stared into cold, light orange orbs. Then, Blitzkrieg spoke.

"Legacy Chip activated." The teen said, absolutely no emotion in his tone. "Objective: Destroy Teen Titans."

Robin drew his quarterstaff as Cyborg readied his sonic cannon. "The boom?" The Boy Wonder asked.

Cyborg grimaced. "It might be our only option."

Blitzkrieg charged, and Robin threw a concussion grenade as Cyborg let loose a blast with his sonic cannon. The grenade exploded just as the blast reached it, throwing the electro-kinetic across the room.

"What was that?" Beast Boy said as he approached Blitzkrieg's fallen form.

"No idea. He said something about a chip though…" Robin trailed off and then looked at Raven. "Do you think you can get inside of his head and see what's going on?" He asked the mage.

Raven lifted her hood off of her face as she scooped up Blitz's head in her arms. "I can only do this if I'm not being attacked, and I'll be unconscious until I'm done." Raven informed the Boy Wonder. Said hero nodded and turned back to his teammates. "Cyborg, carry the both of them. The rest of us will clear a path."

Raven put her index and middle finger between Blitzkrieg's eyes, and—!

Her eyes went wide.

"—How does it feel to be stupid, Luthor?"

"—Specter's gone on a rampage—"

"—I've got a lead on Slade's Legacy project—"

"—Lord Insight wants her alive—"

"—We sacrificed everything for them—"

"—We've actually been coming to this universe for a long time—"

"—We can even save her. I'm certain of it—"

"—This looks like a job for—"

Sean's mindscape. With Raven.

Raven awoke, gasping for breath as she sat up from the extraordinary cold surface she was laying on. In front of her was a white fox with four tails and crystal blue eyes that shone with mischief.

"Greetings Raven." The fox spoke, bowing its head. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you."

Raven relaxed and stood. "I assume that you must be Light."

"You assume correctly." The fox said, beginning to take on a more human form. A girl about a few inches taller than Raven was standing in the fox's place, still white-haired and having the ears and tails, but now wore a kimono that was the color of her fur.

Raven blinked. "Wait, you're a—"

"Girl, yes." Light interrupted. "I got that from the other emotions, save for Sean himself."

"How is he?" Raven asked.

Light frowned. "The 'Legacy Chip', or whatever this is, is suppressing his conscious mind, replacing it with what I assume to be Slade's will."

"Slade?"

"Yes. He said something about taking Sean's free will from him."

There was silence for a moment as Raven considered the implications.

"Can he be freed?" She asked the fox-lady.

Light nodded. "He can be, but not by me."

Raven frowned. "Why not?"

Light sighed. "The chip is keeping anything 'connected' to him. I.E., The other emotions and I." She looked at the empath. "But perhaps some outside interference might loosen the chip's hold on Sean."

"Where can I find him?" She asked.

Light pointed at a simple brown wooden door. "There. You'll find him in there."

Raven gave Light a nod and then walked through the door. On the other side was a massive, glowing cube with tendrils of azure light restraining a rather handsome looking boy that Raven assumed was Blitzkrieg. He was T-posed as the tendrils entered his brain, seeming to keep him in some sort of deep sleep.

Raven flew up to the tendrils, examining the way the light pulsed. Then, she muttered a quick incantation and grabbed the tendrils.

There was a burst of light, and both Titans screamed.

"—I'm you, Luthor, but I'm better—"

"—He's a clone of both Super—"

"—Galatea is not to be damaged during the transit—"

"—You're children! You're just chil—"

"—And thus begins the resurrection of Er—"

"—From one mad bastard to another! Here! COME! THE DRUMS!"

"—A great love is dying. And it may destroy us all—"

"—No, no, no! Don't you understand!? I'M GOING TO BE SUPE—"

"—No, Bart. You aren't alo—"

Titan's Tower. With the Teen Titans.

Blitzkrieg groaned as the bright light of day hit his opening eyes. As he rubbed his head, his eyes adjusted to the natural light, and he saw Cyborg leaning over him. "Say something only Blitz would say."

The electro-kinetic blinked. "Uh…Just who the hell do you think I am?" He offered.

Cyborg nodded, a small smile on his face. "It's him! The surgery worked!"

Blitz suddenly sat up. "Surgery!?"

"Yep!" Cyborg beamed. "Turns out, you had some kind of micro-chip in your skull that turned you evil." The larger teen explained.

"Wait—micro-chip!?"

"Yeah. Raven found it when she took a dive into your head. She managed to sever its connection to you, but Robin wanted it extracted so that we could find out who made it."

"I've already got a good idea of who it is." The electro-kinetic grumbled.

Cyborg frowned. "Who?"

The black-dressed teen sighed. "Get everyone else into the common room. I only feel like explaining this once…"

Later. The Titan's Tower common room. With Blitzkrieg.

I looked over the gathered Titans as they sat on the couch, staring at me with curiosity and concern in their gazes.

"Cyborg said that there was something you wanted to tell us about the chip?" Robin asked, leaning forward in his seat.

I took a quick glance at Raven, who gave an encouraging nod, and began to speak. I told them about the warehouse—everything this time, including the fact that Slade was my father. The Titans didn't speak until I was done. Then, Beast Boy raised a hand. I sighed. "Yes, Beast Boy?"

The changeling lowered his hand. "Slade chips his kids?"

I let out another sigh. "Apparently." Then I turned to the leader of our illustrious team. "Robin?"

The Boy Wonder looked at the floor from behind steepled hands, tapping his foot on the floor in an unsettling rhythm. Then, he looked up at me. "…I supposed if you were gonna betray us, Slade wouldn't have needed to activate the chip." He said, and I felt relief fill me.

"So…I'm still on the team?"

Robin smiled. "Titans together, remember?"

Starfire cheered. "Now that the issue of this revelation is resolved, shall we commence the eating of unhealthy junk food?"

I smiled. "Yes Starfire. I think we shall."

Underground. With Slade and Zero.

Slade snarled as he slammed his fist on his throne. Zero flinched, edging away from the enraged supervillain. "Master?"

Slade leaned back in the throne. "That buffoon, Mad Mod, failed to defeat the Teen Titans."

"Honestly…" A new voice spoke from within the darkness. "That was a bad move to begin with." The blue-haired hand-wearer emerged from the shadows, eyes obscured by his bangs.

Slade turned towards the young man. "And what do you suggest, Tenko?" He asked, voice as cold as a snowstorm.

Under the hand, the newly named Tenko smiled. "That you do this yourself."
