She can see that Coulson is about ready with the team and Skye can fully understand him. The three agents bickers more than her siblings on a bad day, which happens rarely.
"Your not wrong. We still need to iron out the kinks."
Coulson comments before turning his attention towards Simmons, Ward and Fitz.
"But, Ward, you speak six languages. Simmons, you have two PhDs in fields I can't pronounce, and, Fitz, you are a rocket scientist. So work this out."
Coulson orders them before turning around and heading out of the lab once more. Looking after him, Skye wants to make a comment but decides it's for the best to keep silent. Seeing how Simmons, Fitz and Ward turns their back to one another, Skye decides this will be the perfect moment to head for her bunk.
The moment she reaches the second floor, she almost wish she had stayed with Simmons or tried to head for the cockpit when her eyes lands on the soldiers sitting around in the common area. With her head lowered and keeping to the walls, she managed to reach her bunk.
Sliding the door open enough for her to enter, she makes sure to lock the door behind her. Dropping down on the bed, her eyes lands on the hula girl. With a weak smile, she reaches a hand out for it, poking it so it starts to dance. Hearing the soldiers outside of her bunk, she turns her head to make sure her door is locked.
If this is how things are going to be, if every mission with this group is ending up like this, then she might just leave and head back home at the first opportunity.
She's not sure when she fell asleep, but she knows her head is now hurting. Taking a few seconds, she realises her head isn't the only thing hurting. She is laying on a clod floor and her arms are handcuffed together behind her back. Forcing her eyes to open, she finds herself laying beside a knocked out May.
The moment the fact that May is knocked out beside her sinks in, Skye feels how fear grows in her. No one can knock that woman down, Natasha and Clint have tried many times, falling every time. But this is a second time she has seen the woman she used to see as an unbeatable superhero being taken down.
"This is my fault. Should have learned kung fu."
She can hear Fitz complain beside her. With a deep breath, she slowly push herself up to sit, it wasn't easy with hands cuffed but she managed to in the end.
"Oh, yeah, but I shouldn't have pushed you into the field in the first place. You weren't ready."
"It was my job to make a proper threat assessment."
"Uh, we... We weren't ready."
Skye listens to the trio beside her talk, her eyes traveling towards May once more.
"This wouldn't have happened if Agent May wasn't on the stick. She would have busted out some of her ninja know-how."
Skye hears herself say, her voice weak but she can feel how the others have heard her as their eyes are turned towards her. Moving her head to see the puzzlement in their eyes.
"Agent May? No. No, no. She transferred from administration."
Fitz points out, his attention turning to Simmons in a try to understand what is going on, it was clear that Simmons isn't sure either what is going on. With a deep sigh, Skye nods her head towards May.
"Well, I've seen her destroy a guys, so..."
She tells them, trying to keep her comment as light as possible. At this new information, FitzSimmons turns their attention towards Ward who let's out a deep sigh.
"You've heard of the cavalry?"
Ward asks them and Skye has to bit her lip from telling him not to use that word.
"Yeah."
"Yeah. Wh—everyone at the academy talks about st—"
Simmons and Fitz says at the same time before growing silent once more, their eyes traveling past Skye to land on May.
"She's the cavalry!"
They say at the same time, their eyes growing large. Skye has to push a growl down, forcing herself to not make a comment. Yet she hears the words she was about to say, slightly confused at first only to realise that May has finally woken up.
"I told you, never to call me that."
Turning her head to the side, Skye lets out a sigh of relief to see that May has finally open her eyes once more. But the fear is still there, and she is quite sure it won't go away anytime soon.
"I can't believe it. Oh, we're sure to get out of here now."
She can hear relief in Simmons voice as she speaks, but in the next beat, the relief dies down lightly.
"Um, how do we get out of here?"
She asks, looking worried once more. Skye can hear how May grunts as she sits up beside her.
"Can't go through the doors. They're bolted, tied to the pressurization lines. You two geniuses have nothing?"
May asks, Skye knows she is talking to Simmons and Fitz, but she starts to think herself. Her eyes traveling towards the lab doors in a try to figure out a way to open them.
"Yeah, well, it's hard to concentrate in these intense situations."
Fitz complains, making Skye roll her eyes. Going over what May told them, she tries to pick it all down.
"Hey. Don't freeze up. Take a deep breath."
Ward says and without realising what she is doing, she follows is instruction to Fitz. And that's when she sees it, a way to get the door to work. It was such a Clint idea that she is sure her brother would be prod.
"What if we drive one of the SUVs into the lab doors? That should break the pressurization lines, right?"
Skye says, turning her attention towards May. She can see a flash of surprise in her eyes, but it's gone just as quickly. She can feel how the others looks at her with surprise.
"That is absolutely crazy! They will kill us, beside, we are tied to the cargo door."
Fitz points out and Skye rolls her eyes.
"I have a feeling she will kill us either way, I rather take my chances to get out of here if I can."
Skye tells him, trying to figure out if she should dislocated her thumb like Natasha have shown her or not. The last time she nearly fainted when trying. Hearing the sickening crack coming from beside her, she realises May has done it herself.
"What the hell was that?"
Fitz asks, horror in his voice as he asked the question.
"Her wrist."
Skye hears Ward explain at the same time as herself. Ignoring that for now, Skye lift her head to the catwalk where she sees one of the soldiers walking. The man comes to a stop to look down at them.
Skye can see that he is confused over why there is only four people down below. Before the man has a chance to react, May has dropped down beside him and with a swift kick, the man is being thrown over the railing, May jumping over the railing herself.
Landing without any problems on the floor, she grabs hold of her wrist and puts it back into place once more, hearing the crack once more, Skye shivers.
"What's next?"
May asks, her eyes on Skye as she asks the question and Skye starts to wonder if the woman in front of her realises just who she is. Taking in a deep breath, Skye steels herself for what will be next.
"Untie us, quickly."
She tells May who nods her head and does exactly what is asked, starting with untying her. Once free from the handcuffs, Skye is on her feet within seconds and heads for the lab doors to look inside.
"Did they move the 0-8-4?"
She asks, turning around to look at the S.H.I.E.L.D agents. She can see how they look at her with surprise, but lifting one eyebrow, she taps her foot slightly. They do not have the time for this.
"Well?"
"Yes, they took it upstairs. We found out its a weapon, it made the hole it was stuck in."
Fitz tells her as May releases him and starts working on Simmons. Turning her attention towards the lab once more, she starts to think.
"We are still following the route, I can feel the plane turning. Agent May, are we following the right path?"
Skye asks, turning her attention towards May who nods her head.
"So let's blow a hole in the side of the BUS."
She tells them, and the reaction and complaints were instant. Rolling her eyes, Skye pulls out the pamphlet Ward had given her earlier that day.
"Everything will be fine, we just need to make sure we can get a hold of the plane once more. If anyone else has a brilliant idea, I'd like to hear it."
She tells them, her arms crossed. She can see how the other agents looks at one another and she knows she has won this fight.
"Everything we need to know about staying safe is in here."
She adds, holding up the pamphlet, hopping this will edge them on to her side. She can see that they finally give up. Going over everything with them, making sure she is staying close to Simmons.
"Okay, we're sure, right? Everyone's sure?"
Skye asks them, she can see that they are still worried over her plan. If she had not grown up with her siblings, she wouldn't have suggested or agreed on something this crazy.
"We're all on board."
"Yeah, let's do this fast."
"No turning back. No freezing up."
"Because if we do, then..."
"All of us dies."
Skye listens to the three agents as they try to tell themselves everything will be alright, that this is something normal. Hearing one of the SUVs cars engine revs, Skye turns her head to see that May is standing at the ready.
"You guys talks to much."
She tells them before entering the car, Skye jumps to the side, to be out if the way. Ward pushes Simmons and Fitz to the other end of the hangar as May drives the SUV into the lab doors.
The rest of the plan somehow managed to run as smooth as she possibly thought. There were a few that was thrown out the hole in the BUS, Skye is just happy it was neither of the team was thrown out.
"No other way in, huh?"
Coulson asks as he places a broken glass on the bar.
"Was just starting to warm up to this place."
He adds, looking around himself at the destruction. Skye lifts the glass to place a coaster under it.
"The 0-8-4 is cooling and stable. But we should call H.Q. and get it to the Slingshot as soon as possible."
Fitz informs them and Skye lets out a sigh of relief.
"Told you they were good."
She hears Coulson say, turning her head to look at him, she can see how he looks at the now tide up woman on the floor. Shaking her head, Skye starts to head for her bunk once more. They are heading for a S.H.I.E.L.D base and something tells her, it's for the best if she keeps hidden.
The moment the BUS lands however, there's a knock on her door. Lifting her head, Skye reaches out and pulls the door open to see Coulson. Realising that hiding won't be an option, with a deep breath, Skye rises from the bed and starts to follow Coulson. As they reaches the hangar, Skye smiles when she sees that the Lola is alright.
"Not a scratch. But your plane's totalled. I hope S.H.I.E.L.D insurance covers hijackings."
Skye comments, turning to look at Coulson to see his reaction.
"Sure. Under 'incidentals'"
Coulson replies and Skye can't help but to smile at this. She have heard that line before.
"What exactly am I signing up for?"
"Like I said – front-row seat to the craziest show on earth."
"Yeah, but I didn't expect the show to get this crazy this fast all for an object you're just gonna destroy."
"Slingshot is protocol. A weapon like the 0-8-4 is too dangerous for any person or country to have. People like Reyes would always be after it."
Coulson explain and Skye nods her head, already aware of how the protocols. Most of her childhood have been controlled by S.H.I.E.L.D protocols after all.
"What happened with Reyes, anyway?"
Skye decides to shift the conversation.
"She's being held at a S.H.I.E.L.D detainment facility. I expect the Peruvian government will negotiate for her release. She probably won't spend much time in jail."
Skye roll her eyes at this information, she already figure that out by herself.
"No, I mean what happened with you and Reyes? You guys totally did it back in the day, right?"
She asks him and she can see a small smile playing on his lips.
"That's classified."
He replies before heading away. Shaking her head, Skye looks around herself. Her eyes lands on Ward and May, seeing that the two of them are in a deep conversation she decides to stay where she is, and then there's the fact that she doesn't want to spend time around Ward.
Seeing that Simmons and Fitz are coming down the stairs, a cooler between the two of them, Skye lifts one eyebrow. She smiles however when she sees how happy the two of them look and she can hear snips of their conversation.
"Hey, come on. You guys don't want to miss this."
Fitz calls out, holding up a beer as he and Simmons sits down on the hangar. May and Ward joins them, Skye keeps to spot she already in.
"So, it'll take about 180 days to reach the sun. Now, yes, of course, it would have been faster if they'd used hydrogen-fuelled APUs, but they're having fun."
Fitz explains, making Skye lift one eyebrow as she looks at him.
"How many of those have you guys had?"
She asks, hearing Simmons laugh slightly as she turns around to look at her.
"Sk-Skye. Its important when in the field to unwind from time to time."
"Yeah, yeah, especially after a hard day of everyone almost dying."
"Which doesn't happen every day, right? It's an anomaly – an irregularity."
In this moment, Coulson returns and Simmons turns her attention towards their boss.
"Not... the norm."
She adds, suddenly sounding a bit unsure about it all.
"Speaking of 'not the norm', whose idea was it to blow a hole in the plane?"
Coulson asks and Skye can't help but to shrink. She should have known this conversation was coming and the tone of his voice brings her back to when she was younger. With a deep breath, Skye looks at him.
"May said that the doors were tied to the pressurization, so I thought –"
She starts to explain and Coulson turns his head to look at her.
"So we thought it was the only way to release them."
"It was everyone's ideas, sir."
"Yes, quite genius, really."
Skye turns her attention towards Simmons, Ward and Fitz. Surprised that they all speak up. She can see the same surprise in Coulson and May's eyes.
"Nice work."
Coulson tells them, his eyes on Skye however and she nods he head. He turns his attention towards the others and outside as they are informed that the rocket is about to launch. Smiling as she hears the Fitz mimicking the count down.
Feeling her phone vibrate, she pulls it out to see the incoming message from an unknown sender. Glancing up at the others, she takes a deep breath before replying that she is in.
