Chapter 3

Eren

I stood up from the small bed of sorts that I have made and stretched. Today was the day I decided to take my first visit to the wall since I was taken years ago. I put on the ODM gear and scout clothing I had and took off to the end of the forest, dodging and weaving through the trees and leaves. I had a few titan encounters, but I have lived out here for years. It was nothing I couldn't handle. With the glare of the sun, I boosted once more and flew into the sky. With a bite of my finger, I transformed into a titan and began to run through the field. There are some things I don't exactly understand. Why I'm alive right now.

Years ago, on this same day, the Titans made their first attack. They trampled throughout the town with the help of a colossal titan and an armored titan. On that day, I and Mikasa were trying to pry a large piece of wood from our Mother, but it was too late for her. Hans picked us up to try to get us to safety but I disobeyed him. I broke from his grasp with sadnesses in my eyes, dashing towards my mother who was being picked up by a titan.

Because I wasn't being careful, another titan came, grabbed me, and ran away. Instead of eating me, they held me in their hand and studied me while they walked away. After it was all said and done, the titan then took me into the forest. It sat me down at a tree and left. I was alone out there, scared for my life. I noticed a small hole in the tree which I climb up into.

That was where I spent most of my teen-hood, in that hole. Until one day, I got bored. I have already been there for four years, not going anywhere and eating berries that fell from the tree from time to time. I was fourteen now, so I wanted to see the outside world. I was about to step from the tree when the titan came scurrying back to me, the same one that took me to the tree. It looked straight up at me and said "Subject...Of...Ymir...you...are? Something...show...I must."

It was calling my name. I put on the clothes of a dead scout that I found near the tree, and I hopped on down to see what the titan wanted. I walked towards it, and as soon as I was at arm's length, it grabbed my arm, bit it off, and took a few steps back. I screamed in pain, and then I was shocked by lightning. In a split second, I could feel myself changing and transforming as I yelled until I stopped.

I looked at my arm and it was stuck in some kind of flesh. So we're my legs. I closed my eyes and began to see from a different perspective. I looked at my hands and they were huge, and I was bigger than the original titan. I stood on one knee, Bowing to the titan as thanks, and watched it go back into the forest. I then began to walk around in this new body, trying to get used to it, and then, I ran into the forest in my own way, feeling free of sorts. Until I got attacked by a titan, they were able to quickly overwhelm me, but because of my titan's abnormal strength, I was able to escape.

For the next few years, I began to teach myself how to fight on the tree I lived on, and the more I ventured out from my safety stop, the more I was revealed to reality. I found out from a scout squad that I was assumed dead, and the Titans are slowly closing in on humanity. They have also reported spotting me and another titan, smaller, kind of like the titan that saved me, but much more agile and fast.

I wondered what titan could that be. But I had to be on guard. They knew I was strong because they have seen me training and fighting other Titans, and they know I'm intelligent for the same reason. In a split second, I was snapped back to reality and was about to run into the wall. I ran around it until I came to a small spot where no one was. I knew this, for I has studied their schedule for quite some time before I came here. I left my titan right under the walkway and used my gear to swing to a nearby tree. I sat for some time and ate some berries from the tree while looking at the town.

I sighed and began to think about my recent encounter. "Why did I show myself to that girl? She was just some random girl, right?" I thought to myself, but I knew otherwise. I could feel something between us. Something special, something old. I stood up with another, longer, sigh. Activating my gear, I swung up to the top of the wall and took a look at the town. The night was approaching, as the day ended and dawn began. I turned around and looked at the sunset.

"Sometimes, I wish my tree was tall enough for me to see this from there," I said to myself. "Yeah, well you can take a nice long look at the sunset from your jail cell." A man said from behind me in response. "Wha!?" I turned my head to see a tall man, around their twenties, pointing a rifle at me. "You not supposed to be here." They said to me, gesturing for me to stand up.

I stood up and put my hands up. "Hey, wait, I'm a part of the scout regiment. I was given permission to take a brea-" "Yeah, don't try that on me. I'm a part of the Scouts and have taken the liberty to memorize everyone's face and name in the regiment. I even have it on paper, and you are not on the list. Now get moving." He said in a stern voice. I turned around to take a look at what they were wearing.

Brown pants, a white t-shirt, and the scout regiment cloak around their waist with tan skin and perfect blond hair. I stared straight into his eyes and sighed. "Ok, I'm moving," I said and began to move forward. as I approached the ledge I turned around and said, "actually, you know what? I think ill stick to my tree." I jumped backward off the wall into the town, diving downwards, and then activating my gear to fly away.

"Get back here!" they yelled, as I speed away. I opened my mouth to bite my hand and run away but then realized that It might not be the best idea and continued using the dm gear. As night fell, I found a small passageway, leading underground. I look around me and then took a gamble and walked in.
