End of Recap

CLASS TRIAL/IN SESSION!

"Let's begin with a basic explanation of the Class Trial, just to jog your memories" chortled Monokuma as he sat on his throne, "In the Class Trial you'll all be forced to debate and conversate in order to find out who our brand new murderer is! Once we've reached the end of the trial it's voting time! Vote correctly and ONLY the blackened shall be sent to their execution, buuuuuuuut vote wrong and I'll execute everyone BESIDES the blackened! Doing so will grant the killer the right to leave this island, this killing game and return home to their normal and probably very boring lives depending on who it actually is" Monokuma explained.

"Man,normally we've got a good idea of a case before the trial, but going in this time I haven't got a clue" sighed Harold. "Whoever the killer is,they seriously pulled out all the cards" said Scarlett. "Ha,funny. Because the wallpaper is playing cards" laughed Lindsay. "Where should we even begin?" asked Alejandro, "The time? The body? The weapon?". Heather put a hand to her forehead, "Slow down Matador, you're throwing too many topics out at once". "I propose we begin by looking at the victim in question" suggested Brick, "That obviously being Lighting". Harold rolled his eyes, "Duh,there's only one victim". "If the body is what we're gonna start with,I imagine myself and the guys won't be much help considering we never even got to see the corpse in person" said Topher, "All we got to see was a picture of the corpse from a bird's eye view". "From what saw in it,looks like the killer really went all out" added Brick. "Y'know I'd be glad to take the lead!" exclaimed Bridgette, "Afterall,I was the one who did most of the main investigating". "Sounds good to me" Topher smirked, giving a thumbs up. "Same here,it's only logical" agreed Harold. "Makes sense to me" added Alejandro. "I can also agree to that suggestion" smiled Brick. Bridgette nodded and put her thumb and pointer into a gun motion underneath her chin, "Welp, guess we can get the ball rolling!".

NON-STOP DEBATE: BEGIN

"To start my overview of stuff I found,I'll start by going over the body and stuff" Bridgette began, "Myself,Lindsay,Heather,Scarlett and Ella found the body in Grape Tower". "It wasn't easy to get to,I had to use a nail file to cut through the door" snapped Heather. "What? Why? You could've just pressed the button to open the doors" said Alejandro. Lindsay shook her head, "Nuh-uh,the door was tied up on the inside of the tower with rope. I remember me and Bridgette tried to ring you guys while Heather got the door opened" she remembered. "We can talk about that later, can you continue with the body discovery Bridgette?" Alejandro asked. "Ah yes! Right! Of course!" stammered Bridgette, "Lightning was lying in the middle of Grape head was lying away from his body, one arm was snapped off and the other was twisted around with some..ugh...bone sticking out" she explained, trying not to gag. "How awful, there was no need to butcher the dude!" gasped Harold. "That's what I said!" exclaimed Bridgette and Heather. "I should also note that Lightning's head appeared to be crushed inwards with a deep indent, almost as if his skull was caved in" replied Scarlett, pushing up her glasses. "From what we saw in the pictures from the Monokuma File, there appeared to be a hammer at the crime scene" said Topher, "Maybe that was used kill Lightning!". "No,that's wrong!" declared Bridgette.

NON-STOP DEBATE: END

"That's a good idea Topher, but I don't think the hammer was the murder weapon" said Bridgette. "Huh? Why not? Surely a hammer and a smashed in skull leaves only one possible option, right?". "In theory yes, however the hammer was completely clean, almost like it was fresh out of the box" Bridgette explained, "If the hammer was the murder weapon it would've at least had a couple drops of blood on it". Topher ran his fingers through his hair, "Guess I didn't think about that, good eye Bridgette". "Okay,so what was the murder weapon if it wasn't a hammer?" asked Alejandro. "Probably the bloody machete" replied Bridgette, "There was one covered in blood lying on the ground near the body, most likely that was used to decapitate Lightning and to cut off his arm!". "Hammers, machetes, where could the killer have possibly acquired these tools from?" Ella pondered. Heather scratched her hair, "Maybe they had them before we got here?". "Right, they just so happened to sneak in tools while we were on a fucking roller coaster and being gassed out" said Brick, face palming. "Well it seems to be the only logical answer" said Bridgette, "As far as we know, there wasn't a single weapon inside of the funhouse!".

OBJECTION!

Topher: No,that's wrong!

Bridgette: Something bothering you Tophman?

Topher: Absolutely! Your previous statement is wrong!

Bridgette: What? No way man, prove it!

Topher: Tch,alright. Here it is!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN

Topher: You claim that in terms of the weapons, mainly the hammer and machete...

Topher: That they weren't in the funhouse...

Topher: Purely based on an assumption!

Topher: When in actuality, this assumption is false!

PROCEED

Bridgette: We investigated the entirety of the funhouse and found not a single weapon.

Bridgette: Obviously that means that the hammer and machete had to have come from outside!

Bridgette: We looked everywhere,in every room and every possible space...

Bridgette: Which means there was no where the killer could've hidden the weapons before hand, let alone a room to hide them in!

RETREAT

Topher: Nope,that's false.

Topher: There was one room you didn't investigate due to only three people ever entering it...

Topher: That room I hear you ask? Simple, the Final Dead Room, which was full to the brim with weapons, including hammers and machetes!

Topher: Because of this,we can prove that the killer acquired their weapons by completing the Final Dead Room!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN: TOPHER = SUCCESS

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN: BRIDGETTE = FAIL

Topher stood in triumph,as he regained control of the situation, "The Final Dead Room was,as I said, filled to the brim with weapons. The killer had to have completed it to grab their weapons to use for the murder!" he explained. "But wait, you mentioned three people have entered it to see,who were the others aside from the killer?" Bridgette asked. "I was one of them" Harold spoke up, "I joined Topher during our investigation, when Monokuma unlocked the doors so we could pass through and get a fair search. Meaning aside from us,the killer is the only other person who made it through" he explained, recounting the events. Bridgette blushed, "Ah...r-right,sorry guys. Guess I let the whole debate leading go the ol' mellon" she chuckled, knocking her fist against her head. "It was almost like you were the protagonist in some courtroom video game or something" Harold laughed. "Imagine that" agreed Lindsay, "That'd be pretty neat to be in a video game". "Yeah...video games, right" Scarlett muttered, "Sure would be cool". Topher shook his head, "Uh,guys? Think we could get back on track?".

"Ah yes,of course!" exclaimed Brick, "We've nailed down three things that should be vital to the case: The murder weapon, how the weapon was acquired and the fact that the killer had to have completed the Final Dead Room". "What should we move onto next?" asked Lindsay. "I've got something I found quite weird" said Bridgette. She turned to Alejandro, "Yo Alejandro, you remember when I rung you guys from Grape House earlier?". Alejandro folded his arms, "Indeed I do,it was when we were in the lounge trying to shut off the wall clock. Why do you ask?". "Well the thing is,it's got me real confused that your clock was going off later than it should've been". "Hmm,looks like another debate's about to start, gotta be ready!" Topher thought.

NON-STOP DEBATE: BEGIN

"Tell me,do you think you might be onto something?" Alejandro asked. Bridgette nodded, "Indeed I do my Mexican Muchacho" she replied. "I'm Spanish" Alejandro replied bluntly. "Oops, sorry" Bridgette sighed, "A-anyway,when we rang you guys you said your clock was going off in the lounge, but that shouldn't be possible". "Huh? Why not?" asked Brick, "It was 11am,the usual time when we get up because of the alarm, makes sense for it to start ringing". "But that's the thing,it wasn't 11am" replied Scarlett, "According to Bridgette you answered the phone when it was 12am,meaning that the clock in Strawberry House went off an hour late". Brick titled his unibrow, "Woke up an hour late? Tch,yeah right. I always make it a note to wake up on time". "How do you know we woke up an hour late?" asked Harold, "Maybe we were on time but you girls got up early?". "Or maybe the killer messed around with the clocks to confuse us?" Heather asked. "I agree with that!" said Topher.

NON-STOP DEBATE: END

"That's a great thought Heather, one that may be correct" Topher smiled. "Oh,uh,you think so?" Heather asked, surprised that she could've thought of something good. "If what Scarlett said is true then myself,Alejandro and Brick woke up at 12am,before getting Harold up a few minutes later when we finally turned the clock off" said Topher. He turned to Bridgette, "Just think for a moment. If Lightning was killed at 11am,yet it was 11am for the girls and 12am for the guys then that clearly shows all the clocks were turned back by some amount of time. Not just the clocks in the lounge, but I'm pretty sure every clock but one was tampered with to throw off our perception of time!" he exclaimed. "That sounds really confusing" said Ella, "Changing every clock but one?". Topher nodded, "Yep,the clock in Lightning's room was set back by an extra hour, meaning it was at least an hour behind the clocks in the Grape House and two hours behind the clocks in Strawberry House". "Now that I think about it,I do recall hearing an alarm going off sometime last night" said Alejandro. "Same here" said Topher, "I also heard some other weird noises like crashing sounds last night too". "Funny you mention that,I also heard similar noises" said Scarlett. "Me too!" Lindsay exclaimed, "I didn't get up to check it out though,I was still kinda sleepy".

"Y'know I remember finding something that I just wanna discuss real quick with a certain sneaky Tortilla" said Harold. He looked at Alejandro, "Care to do some explaining Al?". Alejandro looked confused, "Al? Are you talking to me?". Harold crossed his arms and frowned, "I think you know who I'm talking to". Harold then looked at Topher, "Yo dude, you remember that piece of evidence we found while searching Alejandro's room earlier?". Topher was confused too, "Can't say I do remember Harold, sorry". Harold rolled his eyes, "Check your pockets". Topher shook his head but stuck a hand in each pocket. He felt a crumpled up piece of paper and pulled it out. "Woah,is that a murder note?" asked Lindsay. "Nope...even worse" Topher whispered as he looked at what it said, the paper unfurled in his hands. Alejandro began to sweat, "Wha-what is it? What's you got so shaken Amigo?" he asked. Topher and Harold stared at him with death eyes. "You know what's wrong you Spanish Prick" said Harold. "This motherfucker had a secret stash of churros that he was eating all by himself while the rest of us were starving away!" Topher yelled, flipping the bag around to show the logo of the churro stand. The other students all began complaining and yelling, since they had no realised Alejandro was keeping food to himself in a situation where they'd all die of starvation with Brick stepping around Amy's portrait and Topher around Trent's so that they could smack the bullfighter around the back of the head. "Ow! Ow! Okay okay! Stop stop,I'm sorry,I'm sorry!" Alejandro yelped as he wrapped his arms around his head so he could guard his skull.

"Now that we've dealt with that" said Topher, brushing his hands together to dust them off as he returned to his podium, "We can at the very least know that logically it makes no sense for Alejandro to be the killer, clearing him of suspicion". "What makes you say that?" asked Ella. "It only makes sense" said Brick, "We were put in a scenario where food was the reward for murder, otherwise we'd all die of hunger. However by having food already with him upon entering the funhouse it meant that Alejandro had no real reason to kill someone as his small supply of churros would give him more boosts of energy to outlive us all, wait for someone else to kill or to simply await rescue". "My exact thinking too" Scarlett replied, giving a thumbs up to the soldier. Lindsay tapped her forehead, "Is there anything else to talk about?". "Hmm" Harold mused, "There was something I found quite bizarre when in the Final Dead Room's Octagon". "Octagon?" asked Bridgette. "Mhm,it's the name of the weapons room behind the Final Dead Room,it's the place you gain access to if you complete the Final Dead Room" Topher explained. "Yep,that's it" agreed Harold, "As I was saying,I found something quite weird". Scarlett cleaned her glasses, "What was it,a window?". Harold clicked his fingers, "Precisely! It was a window that showed the outside of the funhouse". Ella laughed, "Of course, because the outside of the building is incredibly vital to the case". Harold responded with a scoff, "For your information it actually might be a vital piece of this murderous puzzle, especially considering what I saw". "Go on then Harold, what did our blind littles eyes bare witness to?" asked Scarlett.

NON-STOP DEBATE: BEGIN

"Alright, here's what happened!" Harold began, "Upon looking out the window I saw two important things. The first was a giant stone building of a long and tall corridor, ending in a huge stone tower. The second is that despite what we've been told about the funhouse's structure,Grape House couldn't be seen at all behind the tower on the other side! Taking into account how high above the ground we were,it means we can reach the conclusion that Strawberry House and Grape House are actually the same building!" he exclaimed. "No way,the same building?!" Brick exclaimed. "So you mean to tell us that Strawberry House and Grape House are just stacked up on top of each other?" scoffed Heather. "I find that quite hard to believe,we've got crystal clear proof that the two buildings are built horizontally instead of vertically" added Brick. "Brick's right" agreed Ella, "Remember the elevator that takes us between the two houses. When getting out of the elevator,Strawberry Tower is on the left while Grape Tower is on the right" she remembered. "Because of these crucial things of note, there's absolutely no way to possibly get between the two houses without the elevator" said Brick. "No,that's wrong!" yelled Topher.

NON-STOP DEBATE: END

"What do you mean 'no,that's wrong',there's literally nowhere in the funhouse that allows people to move between Strawberry House and Grape House vertically" snapped Brick, "If there was, surely we would've just found out that the houses are stacked on top immediately, which would've made no difference to the murder". "That's where you're wrong man, because I think I might know something that proves Harold's point of the funhouse being one building with two houses on top of each other" Topher snapped back. Topher looked up at Monokuma, "Hey Monokuma,I know normally we keep everything in here, but for the sake of the Class Trial would it be possible to return to the funhouse to acquire some vital pieces of evidence?". Monokuma coughed as he shook his head quickly, "Huh? Wuzzat? I was bored with the lack of drama that I fell asleep". "We wanna leave the courtroom to establish important evidence for the case sir" Brick responded. "Leave the courtroom for evidence?" Monokuma asks. He put his small hands onto his sides, "Normally we always stay here from the beginning of the trial until the after the execution, but for this specific scenario I suppose I can be nice and allow you a quick break, supervised by ME!" he chortled, "Alrighty kiddos, let's make it snappy!".

CLASS TRIAL/ON HOLD!

*Strawberry House*

Crashing could be heard as Monokuma Rock's elevator smashed through the first floor of Strawberry House. The doors opened and the nine students walked out with Monokuma. "Chop chop boys and girls, let's make this snappy" Monokuma ordered. "Yeah, show us what you gotta man" Bridgette said to Topher. "Got it,just follow me. We gotta go through the Final Dead Room to the Octagon" Topher replied,as he lead the others through the Final Dead Room. "There are two key things in here. First off, there's the window Harold mentioned earlier" said Topher, pointing at the window. "You can all look through for yourselves to see that the funhouse is just one tall building" Harold told them. Topher walked towards one of the back corners and pushed some boxes out of the way for a clearer view, "You'll also see a trap door here on the floor. My theory is that this trap door leads to Grape House". "Now that you mention it,we did find a trap door in the ceiling at the Monokuma Archive on the third floor of Grape House" added Heather, "We just figured it was how Monokuma got in and out of the funhouse". Topher turned to Monokuma, "Well Monokuma, could you be a pal and open up the trap door for us?". Monokuma raised a hand holding a key, "Right away, anything for my wonderful jurors!". Unlocking the door and flinging it open,Topher's theory was correct as green light burst through the open space. Jumping down, followed by Brick,Heather and Harold, they were met with the Monokuma Archive on the third floor of Grape House. "Nice, looks like you were right Topher" said Harold, congratulating him. Monokuma rubbed his hands together, "Are ya'll done now? Can we head back to the trial grounds?". "Not yet" said Brick, "There's something I'd like to quickly examine myself". "Fine, fine, just make it quick. I'm not kidding around here" Monokuma snarled. Brick nodded, "Hey guys,I want you to all head to the main area on the first floor of Strawberry House and wait for me there until I get back" he ordered, shouting up through the trapdoor. He spun on his heels and pointed at Topher,Heather and Harold, "You three, follow me. It's direly important for solving the murder". "Sure thing man" said Topher. "Whatever you want Keicho" Harold sighed. "Better be something good" Heather muttered.

Marching through the halls of Grape House Brick lead the trio to Grape Tower. Entering they found the body and crime scene was yet to be cleaned, allowing them to properly go over the crime scene. "Hey Brick,is there any particular reason you brought us down here?" Harold asked. "I was gonna ask the same thing, you said you wanted to show us something important" agreed Heather. Brick walked in a circle around the room and examined everything, taking notes of the ropes that were tightly bound to the door handles of the door that would lead to Strawberry House. "Keep note of everything in this room and it's exact position" Brick ordered. After a minute,he turned and walked out the door, "What are you standing around for? C'mon!". Entering the elevator in Grape House they were taken back to Strawberry House. The others watched as they exited. "You guys finished yet?" Bridgette asked. "Hurry it up already!" Monokuma shouted. "Be there in a few minutes, just need to confirm one more thing" Brick responded,a serious expression on his face. "Hurry up,don't dawdle" Brick told Harold,Topher and Heather. The three were confused but followed after Brick nonetheless. "Uh,dude. You do realise the doors are still tied up,right?" Harold asked. Walking towards the door,Brick raised an arm and rbought it down into a powerful chop, cutting through the ropes. "Wow,that was impressive" Topher whispered to Harold in amusement. "You can say that again" Harold replied. With the ropes cut,Brick pressed the button to open the door to Strawberry Tower. After a few moments the doors swung open, the red hue of Strawberry Tower shimmering through. Entering,Topher was amazed. "Hey,look at that! The entire crime scene is all here, with everything being in the exact same place!". "And look at that, the door to Grape House on the other side is missing it's handle, which is lying on the ground right in front of it!" added Harold. "HOLD IT!" Monokuma roared, "That's enough for bonus investigating!". He ran into the tower, threw rope around the four inside and dragged them back out. "Ow,hey! What's the big idea buddy-bear?" Heather yelled. "Your time is now up! Everyone back in the elevator to return to the courtroom at once!" Monokuma shouted. The nine students entered the elevator and returned back to the court room.

CLASS TRIAL/BACK IN SESSION!

"Hope you all enjoyed that brief break, cause it'll probably never happen again. From now until the rest of trial, nobody leaves alive until a verdict is decided and executions played out,be they group or a single" Monokuma snarled eerily. "I thank you for the time sir" Brick replied, saluting the headmaster. "Now that we've been able to do some extra investigating, the case might've become a lot simpler than we originally thought" mused Scarlett, "We now have definitive proof that Strawberry House sits directly on top of Grape House, with the killer being able to travel between the two houses. This must explain as to how the killer moved between both houses despite the elevator being shut down on both ends". Ella rubbed her head, "That sure is confusing, are you sure that's what happened?". "What other way is there that could've helped the murder be completed?" asked Brick. "The body was originally discovered in Grape Tower, with the door opening instantly rather than time being needed for it to open" said Heather, "Which means the killer got Lightning in Grape House, then left and shut down the elevator before using the trapdoor in the Monokuma Archive to return back to Strawberry House,if the killer is assumed to have come from there". "Perhaps it would make more sense if the killer were from Strawberry House?" Brick suggested, "It would've been easier for the killer to quickly get eveything done, correct?". Ella shook her head, "Not at all,it would be much easier for the killer to be a girl from Grape House. All they'd need to do is quickly grab their weapons from the Final Dead Room, then wait in Grape House for Lightning. Once they kill him, they'd just need to flee up the stairs and back to bed" she described. "But that's not all they had to do,remember? The killer also shut down the elevator, disabled the doors to the tower and turned back all the clocks" said Bridgette. "Just had a thought" Topher interupted, "Since we now know that the funhouse is one tall building,I've got a theory. One that may not seem important but could lead to us finding out how exactly Lightning was killed". Alejadro smirked, "Go for it Amigo, estoy intrigado por aqui tu teoria!". Topher took a deep breath, "Okay, here's what I propose: Lightning was not killed by being decapitated from a machete. Instead he was killed...by falling!".

OBJECTION!

Ella: Don't be ridiculous!

Ella: You can't seriously say that Lightning was killed from a fall.

Topher: Is that so?

Ella: Indeed!

Ella: I hate to raise my voice and be so rude, but hear me out!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN

Ella: You're trying to say that Lightning died from a fall?

Ella: Ha,pardon my language but that's freaking impossible!

Ella: Try to remember the crime scene carefully, there was nowhere for Lightning to fall from!

Ella: Along with that, there was a machete covered in blood, what else could the cause of death be?

PROCEED

Topher: I'll have you know that I'm remembering the crime scene incredibly carefully.

Topher: If you use your eyes and common sense, you'd realise it was a fall that caused the death.

Topher: Since the funhouse shares one tower,it means that Strawberry Tower and Grape Tower are on top of each other...

Topher: Taking into account some rope tied around one of Lightning's ankles,a door knob that was off the door to Grape House inside the tower and the fallen over pillar...

Topher: I propose that Lightning was tied up and dropped down onto the pillar once the floor of the tower moved downwards!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN: SUCCESS

"H-hold on a second, that doesn't make any sense!" Ella exclaimed, "Even if Strawberry House is on top of Grape House there's still nowhere for him to fall and die inside of the tower!". Topher ran his fingers through his hair, "You still think that? Hate to be rude but it's blatantly obvious what's going on if you just use your head". "Agreed,I already had a basic idea of what happened as soon as I realised that both houses are the same building, but upon seeing the crime scene appear identical in both Grape Tower and Strawberry Tower" added Harold. Ella folded her arms, "Please go ahead then, what could it be?". Topher and Harold glanced at each other. "It seems that, looking at things clearly, the tower being one building could possibly mean that it's floor is an elevator!" Harold suggested. "Yes,a brilliant idea!" Brick agreed. Alejandro adjusted his fingers into a gun figure on his chin, "An elevator would make sense. Considering we always had to wait for the tower doors to open before entering and that we couldn't have people enter from Strawberry House and Grape House at the same time means that it must be a contact elevator that doesn't move when people are inside". "Sounds really complicated, you sure that's what the killer did?" asked Lindsay. "I'm 100% certain that's what happened" replied Topher. "It could also explain why the towers appeared on different sides upon exiting the main elevator. If the houses are stacked then it could've been a sliding elevator that moves 180 degrees to give the illusion of moving horizontally instead of vertically" Harold explained, placing a finger in the cleft of his chin.

"So" Scarlett began, "From what we know, the killer set back all the clocks to most likely lure Lightning to the tower alone. After attacking him, presumably with the machete, before tying him up,hanging from the door knob while the elevator was in Strawberry Tower mode and dropped the floor to Grape Tower mode so that Lightning would fall into the pillar to cause death. Quite the interesting and complex murder plot" she mused. "We now know how the murder was committed in the first place, but now it seems all that's left is to actually find the identity of Lightning's murderer" said Bridgette. "Perhaps is the time for us to begin going over our alibis from the night time announcement yesterday to the body discovery today" asked Brick. The others agreed on the idea. Lindsay rubbed her head, "Well,I didn't really do much yesterday,I just stayed in my room and stuff. Then the next morning I got woken up in my room by Ella, went to the tower and then helped Bridgette to ring you guys on the phone" she explained, "Once I heard Heather saying the door was open,me and Bridgette went back downstairs and saw the body,it was really gross". "Is that correct Bridgette?" Topher asked, looking at the surfer. "Yep,that's exactly what went down!" Bridgette exclaimed. "Now that I think about it,I'm pretty sure all of the girls were practically together for the entirety of yesterday and this morning,so maybe it isn't any of us" Scarlett pondered, "In fact I believe the only girl who left their room and went off last night was Ella". The students looked at Ella. "Is that so? Mind telling us where you were Ms?" Harold asked. Ella was nervous,a small bead of sweat appearing on her forehead. "She was with me" Brick interrupted, "Last night when I admit I was on a walk to clear my head when I ran into her. We spoke for a brief while before I escorted her back to her room". "He isn't lying" added Scarlett, "I witnessed Brick taking Ella to her room myself while still in the lounge".

"Alrighty, seems Brick and the rest of the girls are in the clear,so that just leaves you three" said Heather, moving her pointer finger between Harold,Topher and Alejandro. "Well we've already ruled out Alejandro as a suspect after discovering his stash of churros,so I guess that leaves Harold and Topher" remarked Scarlett. "Wha-? No way,Topher and Harold would never kill anyone!" Brick yelled. "Y-yeah,listen to the man!" Harold agreed. "There's no way I could kill someone,I remember saying I would've preferred us to all starve to death than murder one of us!" Topher blurt out. "Is there anything that can prove you two didn't do it?" Heather asked. Topher wracked his brain, feeling as if he was backed into a corner. "I've gotten this far in the case but don't know if there's anything that can conclusively prove it wasn't me or Harold. C'mon, think Topher, think!" Topher thought to himself. Memories flashed through his eyes as he recounted the events of the day. A few moments later...it was done. He pieced it together.

NON-STOP DEBATE: BEGIN

"Well Topher, got anything to say? If you have any objections you might wanna make them now" said Ella. "Hmph,I think I've got it. Two keys pieces of evidence, one from today and one from yesterday that not only make myself and Harold innocent but also tells us exactly who the killer is!" Topher declared. "What is it then? Please, enlighten us" Alejandro asked. Topher nodded, "To start off, this morning. At the time that we thought was 11am,our alarm clocks began going off,the loudest being in the lounge. At the time,Brick,Alejandro and Myself were present trying to shut it off due to the annoying noise, while Harold was fast asleep in his room". "Yep,I was out cold" added Harold, "Someone, presumably the killer, took the batteries outta my clock so the alarm didn't go off for me". "Anyway,my piece of evidence points to someone that I really hate to have to attempt to convict" Topher grumbled. "Who is it man?" Bridgette asked. "Let's hear it Topher,I hope it isn't me" said Lindsay. Shaking his head,Topher looked around the room as his eyes glided along in a circle through his peripheral vision until they finally landed on who he believed was the culprit. "Lemme guess, could it possibly be someone who wouldn't have been able to hear an alarm?" asked Brick. "I agree with that!" Topher mumbled.

NON-STOP DEBATE: END

"Brick" he uttered, "For our entire stay in the funhouse you've been sleeping in a completely soundproof deluxe suite, yet somehow you were awoken by the alarms and were in the lounge claiming to have heard the noise". Brick didn't seem phased at all, "Interesting, what seems to be your point soldier?". "I found that puzzling too" Alejandro said, joining the conversation, "You were the first person to join me Brick, coming from the direction of the stairs and not from that of your dorm room". Brick still stood strong, "Merely a coincidence my friends,I was just up using the bathroom, that's all". "If Brick is the killer, maybe the reason he was present in the lounge with me is because he was attempting to return to his room but couldn't as I wouldve noticed him" Alejandro suggested, "Since he was sleeping in a soundproof room,it would've been in his best interest for us to find him pretending to sleep in his room as it would've made sense for him to be asleep since he wouldn't be able to hear the alarms". Brick laughed "An interesting theory I'll give you that, but surely appearing in the lounge isn't the only piece of evidence to suggest I killed Lightning". Topher scoffed, "Y'know you being present at the time of the alarm isn't the only reason I believe you to be the brains behind this case". Brick crossed his arms, "Go on then, tell me what it is and enlighten me with your deduction" he smirked. "It all has to do with last night when you were supposedly clearing your head" Topher began, "Last night,I too was awake at the time. While coming downstairs to enter Strawberry Tower to calm down,I heard you and Ella having a conversation". Ella's face went pale, "Y-you...wha-what?!". "What exactly did you hear soldier?" Brick asked. Topher closed his eyes, "You really wanna know? Okay, here's everything that I heard!".

*Flashback to the Previous Night*

Ella: I can't believe you actually went in there! W-what if you had died?

Brick: Ha, 'what if I had died?',do you hear yourself woman? As if a little escape room would be enough to do me in.

Ella *sighs*

Brick: Look. We're in a crisis here. It's been days since we've been fed, everyone is starting to lose hope. Makes me sick seeing everyone sitting around just waiting to die.

Brick: If I didn't go in there to try find even a scrap of food,no one would've.

Ella: You always do your best to think about us all, don't you?

Brick: Of course I do. Wouldn't be able to call myself a man if I didn't try my best to protect those who can't protect themselves.

Ella: My hero.

Brick: Yep. A...hero.

*Flashback End*

The court room was silent. Topher was serious and Brick was remaining calm, almost as if he were standing his ground. "I don't get it" Topher thought, "I don't wanna have Brick executed,I truly don't,but all the evidence is pointing towards him yet he ain't staggering". "Is it true Brick?" Lindsay asked. "Did you seriously murder Lightning like that?" Harold asked. Brick huffed, "Hmph, don't use that word, 'murder',I didn't murder anyone". "What? What do you mean you didn't murder anyone? All the evidence points to you man" exclaimed Bridgette. "I don't deny Lightning was killed by me" Brick shouted, "But it was not murder". "So you admit it?" Topher asked, "You willingly admit Lightning died because of you?". "There's no way to deny it at this point" Brick smiled, "Yes,I'm the culprit. You got me fair and square". Topher sighed a heavy sigh. Brick looked at Topher, "You know what comes next. So go ahead, finish it for us all".

OBJECTION!

Ella: Please wait!

Ella: B-Brick is not the killer,I know it!

Topher: Hmm? What do you mean?

Ella: S-shut up! Shut up and listen to me,Brick is not the killer!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN

Ella: There's just no way that Brick is the killer...

Ella: Because...because...because I killed Lightning!

Ella: That's why I ran into Brick,I had just got back from killing Lightning!

PROCEED

Topher: Ella...this is just as hard for me as it is for you,but you aren't the killer.

Topher: Realising it now, there's a lot more that points to Brick, like the fact he seemed to be on the dot about near everything in the entire trial.

Topher: Along with that,he knew to investigate the tower on both sides.

RETREAT

Ella: How does that equal Brick being the killer?

Ella: He's just really smart!

Ella: Or maybe the killer told him everything and forced him to keep quiet in order to frame him!

PROCEED

Topher: What more proof do you need than what we currently have?

Topher: Even so,I'm 100% it was Brick when taking into account the last thing he said to you before taking you back to your room.

Topher: "A...hero".

Topher: It's pure common sense to put one and two together to get three. Brick kill Lightning to save his own skin, turn tail and run. He killed Lightning as a way to give up his own life and help the rest of us escape!

REBUTTAL SHOWDOWN: SUCCESS

Ella was standing and stammering, sweat running down her forehead. Brick stood with his arms tightly folded. Topher didn't know how to react but was remaining headstrong. Meanwhile the others were in shock. "N-no...it's...no" Ella stammered. "Ella, give it up" muttered Brick, "It's done". Brick turned to face Topher, "You hit the nail right on the head Topher. Might I ask that you move on to finish up with this Class Trial?" he asked,a small smile on his face. "I...*sighs* yeah, sure thing" Topher sighed sadly. The others all looked at Topher. Topher took a deep breath, "All right, here goes nothing. Here's everything that happened in this case!".

CLOSING ARGUMENT: BEGIN

Before discussing how exactly the killer went to work,we first need to establish how exactly knew how to act out their plan. They knew exactly wha do by being the first person to complete the Final Dead Room and finding out that the entire funhouse, consisting of Grape House and Strawberry House,is not two buildings that meet at a tower in the center, but instead one six floored building with a moving elevator in the tower. Our latest case of killing began it's set up last night. The killer was witnessed leaving the Final Dead Room by Ella, and overheard by me. While at first I found it strange and thought nothing of it,in reality it might've saved Lightning. I returned to my room, and once the killer returned Ella to her room, they set about putting their plan into motion. The began by setting all the clocks in the funhouse back by an a hour for Grape House and two hours for Strawberry House. Since the killer was staying in a deluxe room, they also took note to remove the batteries from the clocks in Harold's room and their own room. In the end the only clock left untampered was Lightning's,in order to bring him out alone. With everything prepared, the killer returned to sleep. Upon waking up early the next day the killer smashed the control panel to the elevator and then moved to Strawberry Tower and awaited Lightning's arrival. At 11am,Lightning woke up and tried to go to Grape Tower for Monokuma's Bootcamp. Finding the elevator was broken he must've gone to Strawberry Tower, thinking the bootcamp was changed. It was then that once he entered it sealed his fate. The killer attacked with a machete. Once damaged and unconscious the killer's murder was finally set into motion. To begin, they tied him up up with some rope that they had brought from the Octagon before looping some rope around his ankle and then attaching it to the door handle that was painted to look like Grape House's door. The killer then left the tower and tied rope around the handle to prevent anyone from entering. They also smashed the button to the doors just to be extra careful.

After that, the killer entered the Final Dead Room and used the secret trapdoor in order to get to Grape House. Once in Grape House they made their way to the first floor and smashed the button for the elevator on the other side. Standing outside Grape Tower the killer pushed the button to bring the floor down,as the entirety of the tower's floor was one large elevator that only moves when it can't detect movement. The moving floor caused Lightning to hang in the air. The killer then entered and tied ropes around the door to Strawberry House in order to keep the illusion that the two houses were separate buildings. Leaving the tower, the killer tied up rope around the handles of the door to the tower to stop people getting as well as smashing the button to allow entry to the tower. With everything done, the killer returned to Strawberry House. Meanwhile inside the tower,Lightning was probably starting to wake up. Finding himself hanging upside down,he most likely panicked and began to swing back in forth. Not able to bear the movement and his weight, the doorknob holding him up broke off the door and sent Lightning falling downwards. He crashed into one of the stone pillars, dying instantly with his head and an arm being torn off. While Lightning was getting busy dying the killer must've left Grape House right before the girls woke up. With the girls now waking up the killer quickly returned to Strawberry House. Somehow, the alarms began to ring inside the lounge of Strawberry House. Since Alejandro was already in the lounge he attempted to turn off the alarm, with the killer and later myself entering to help. With that, the plan was carried out, however the killer left some important evidence behind that lead to them being found out.

The person in question is someone who would need to be an expert at battle strategy, like a soldier,or in this case an Ultimate Soldier. This is the devious trap you attempted to snag us in,isn't it Brick McArthur?

CLOSING ARGUMENT: END

"Impressive" Brick mused, "You seem to have landed most of the main points of the crime. Tch,guess there's nothing left to say for now. Fine, fine,I come clean. Yes,I killed Lightning. Not murdered, killed". "There you go saying you didn't murder him,if you killed him then murder is the same thing!" exclaimed Heather. "Ah shut up,I'll explain everything after we vote" Brick snapped. Ella seemed to be unable to process what was happening, "N-no wait,we c-can't vote yet". "Too bad Ms Princess,I'm getting real bored" Monokuma cackled, "Soooooo let's move onto, drum roll please...VOTING TIME!" he announced, "I'm sure you all know the drill by the 5th Class Trial. To vote all you've gotta do is use the device to select your choice, but remember to be triple sure to vote. Anyone who does not vote will be executed harshly!". Nobody said anything as the voting commenced, though Ella could be heard sniffling. After a few minutes, the voting devices shut down. The large screen on the wall flashed on showing that there was 8 votes for Brick and 1 for Ella. A slot machine flashed on the screen and began to spin through the students, until it eventually landed on Brick. The screen flashed one more time and revealed a single word: GUILTY.

CLASS TRIAL/ALL RISE

With that, the class trial was finished. The students stood up and stepped away from their podiums. "CORRECT! Holy maceral you guys and gals are gonna be great detectives one day!" Monokuma laughed, "But as of right now, your latest blackened victim was indeed Brick McArthur!". "No fucking way" Scarlett murmured. "Though one thing to note" Monokuma said, "Ms Ella Enchanted. Trying to take the blame and voting for yourself was a ballsy move. Good thing the others had their heads in the game otherwise you might have all ended up dead...well,except for Brick that is" he giggled. "You really killed Lightning?" Lindsay asked Brick. Brick chuckled, "Obviously I killed Lightning". "But why man? Why'd you do it?!" Topher exclaimed. "Yes" Ella whispered, looking down, "Why did you do it Brick?". Brick looked at the group and took a long sigh, "You really wanna know?". "Of course I we do" said Heather spat. "Alright alright...I'll tell you everything" Brick sighed, "Here's what went down".

*Flashback to Strawberry Tower*

Brick: Ah,you've arrived, right on time too.

Lightning: Brick? What the sha-heck are you doing here?

*Lightning notices the hammer and machete in the middle of the floor*

Lightning: Wha-what's sha-going on? Where's everyone else? Where'd you get those sha-weapons?!

Brick: Got them from the Octagon,a special weapons closet you get by beating the Final Dead Room.

Lightning: Hold up,you sha-beat the Final Dead Room? Why the fuck would you sha-do that?

Brick: Simple,I'm gonna kill someone. Believe me I don't want to do it,but I strongly believe the few must be sacrificed so the many can live.

Lightning: *takes a step back* A-and...who is you wanna sha-kill?

Brick: You're a smart man Lightning, you know who my target is.

Lightning: T-tell me! Tell me why you wanna sha-kill me,or why you wanna sha-do any of this!

Brick: *shakes head* Listen to me man,we're in some serious shit right now. No food,no fighting spirit,no hope!

Lightning: So what? That's got sha-nothing to do with me.

Brick: To quote former U.S General,Norman Schwarzkopf; "The truth is that you always know the right thing to do. The toughest part is doing it". If you've got any sense of a brain in terms of common sense and honour, you know why you are here and what has to be done.

*Long Silence*

Lightning: *sighs* I get it. You know the others won't sha-kill each other, they'll just wait to sha-die. Which is why you want us to sacrifice ourselves to save the sha-lives of everyone else.

Brick: Hmph, that's exactly it my friend. I don't want to die either, but innocent lives are on the line which means it would go against my honorary code to just stand by and do nothing.

Lightning: You brought me here to murder me then?

Brick: Tch,don't be a moron. It shall not be murder, the outcome of today shall be your choice. If you wish,we will battle to the death, the winner will continue to live and carry on towards the class trial, where you may do as you wish. However if you do not want to die a hero, instead a coward, then go back to your room and I'll never speak of our encounter tonight ever again.

Lightning: I...I don't know man.

Brick: C'mon to fuck man! You're a Quarterback, right? You know the importance of leading your team to victory and looking out for those who can't help themselves, right?!

Lightning: Of course I sha-can,it's my duty as the leader of my teams.

Brick: Then stand up and fight, one on one with me. Allow us to give up our lives to save those weaker than us so they may honour our lives! Live a coward or die a hero. The choices is yours soldier.

*Lightning thinks, looking back and forth between the weapons,Brick and the exit*

Lightning: *nods* Fine,I accept your sha-challenge. If you say this is a fair fight that'll make me a sha-hero then I'll sha-take you on! There's gonna be no sha-mercy for you General Buzzcut!

Brick: You made the right choice man. Now,claim your weapon and return to your position.

*Lightning walks forward and picks up the machete*

Lightning: Heh heh,oh yeah sha-baby. This is gonna be fun.

Brick: *not holding the hammer* I'll fight you with my fists,I'll fight with pride and honour!

*Brick and Lightning charge at each other,Lightning jumping to give a powerful swing downwards as Brick throws an uppercut*

*Flashback End*

"Ayup, that's what happened. How it all went down" Brick said. Ella had tears in her eyes. The guys were astonished. The girls were shocked. "Fuck, that's deep" Harold whispered. "That's what she said" Topher muttered, making Brick,Harold and Alejandro laugh. Ella frowned and punched Topher in the shoulder, though she hurt her own hand more than Topher. She stumbled to Brick and wrapped her arms around him. "Y-you know what happens, right? You k-know you're gonna die now!" she wailed. "What's up with her?" Scarlett asked. "Oh shit, forgot about that. No one else knew those two had a thing going on" Topher thought to himself. "She's just upset" Brick answered in response to Scarlett's question, "You see,Ella and I have been in a secret relationship since we first got out of Hope's Peak Academy after the second class trial". Harold,Bridgette,Heather and Alejandro's jaws dropped,Scarlett was shocked and Topher just stood there. "Odd that most of you are shocked,I could've sworn I told you all" Brick mused. He looked down at Ella, "Don't cry Ella, everything's gonna be fine". "I-i-i-i-it's n-not gonna be f-fine!" she cried, "I-i-i-i n-need you B-b-brick!". Brick laughed a manly laugh, "Nonsense! You don't need me to continue living! I did what I had to in order to ensure you'd all survive! That's why I spent the trial helping everyone,so that they wouldn't make the wrong choice" he explained. "It wasn't just a selfish act then?" Bridgette asked, "You 100% killed Lightning in a sacrifice? That story you told us wasn't bullshit at all?". Brick laughed and gave a thumbs up, "Of course it wasn't a selfish act or bullshit". Brick lifted up his shirt revealing loads of bandages wrapped around his stomach and chest, "If it was bullshit then how'd I get these wounds?". Ella yelped and jumped back, while the guys murmured to each other, certainly being impressed. "Jesus, get a load of those battle scars" said Bridgette. "This was the damage Lightning gave to me with the machete, the man put up a good fight and died with dignity" Brick explained.

"Hmph,I recon it's been long enough! I think you all know what time it is!" Monokuma chortled upon his throne. Ella's eyes widened. "N-no...p-please wait!" she yelled, running to the throne, "P-PLEASE DON'T KILL HIM!" she wailed. "Whaaaat? But whyyyyyy?" Monokuma whined, "He's already confessed and been found guilty? There's nothing more to do!". "J-JUST WAIT!" Ella screamed, "T-TAKE ME INSTEAD!" she begged. "Not happening" Monokuma snapped, "You know the rules Missy. If found guilty,ONLY the Blackened will receive punishment" he explained as Ella crumpled to the floor and began to cry, though she was assisted by Lindsay. Monokuma looked at Brick, "C'mon big guy,say your goodbyes and stuff!". Brick took a deep breath and turned to face the others, "My name is Brick McArthur, highest ranked general of the great Canadian Army and leader of The Royal Canadian Regiment. I've spent my entire life fighting endless battles in order to ensure peace, safety and hope around the world, the help those who cannot help themselves. Being here I've done my best to keep everyone safe. Unfortunately my own failures cost the lives of ten students and the life of the man who would be my final opponent. He and I have given up our lives to save you all from the cruel death of starvation, including the woman I love who is mourning the near end to my life's journey. My final battle was my final act of heroism. My tour of duty has finally come to an end. Despite the terrible situation I find myself in,the time I've spent with you all has meant the world to me. I wouldn't change it or give it away for anything". He stamped a boot and stood to attention, giving one final salute, "Men...uh,and women,it has been an absolute honour to walk among you and fight the good fight. I wish you nothing but the greatest of luck in survival, only hoping that my life's end not be in vain". Marching over towards Monokuma's throne,he picked Ella up by the shoulders and embraced her in one final kiss. She looked at him, eyes red and wet from crying. "Farewell my love, perhaps we shall meet again in new life" Brick smiled. He turned to Monokuma, "I am ready to go sir,my last wish be that I am sent out like any other soldier". Monokuma gave a thumbs up, "You got it Brickster, whatever you want! Alrighty then, let's get this show on the road and give it everything we've got! IIIIIIIIIIIIT'S PUNISHMENT TIME!" he cheered as he swung his gavel and brought it down onto the "punishment button".

(General McArthur's Dishonourable Discharge) (Ultimate Soldier/Brick McArthur's Execution - EXECUTED)

BRICK HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY! TIME FOR HIS PUNISHMENT!

A green military truck drives through a muddy field as rain pours down. It arrives at a small concrete building and stops outside. Monokuma appears dressed in a Canadian Military outfit and opens the back door of the truck where Brick is sitting. Brick is forced out and has his hands put into cuffs as Monokuma walks him through the mud into the building. They reach an open courtyard where five other army Monokumas are standing, holding M16 rifles. The eight students are also present, placed behind a small metal fence. Monokuma walks Brick to a wooden post opposite the firing squad and stands him in front. Brick looks at the students and gives a salute,to which they all respond. Monokuma ties a bandana around Brick's eyes so that he can't see,in typical military tradition and also places a target on his chest before walking away. Whistles are heard as the Monokumas take aim. Suddenly,Ella jumps the fence and runs towards Brick as the whistle signals for the squad to fire. Ella notices she's too late and is gunned down. The squad reloads and then fires again at Brick, who still can't see. The bullets all hit their mark and blow Brick to pieces, leaving a large hole in his chest and hundreds of bullet wounds all acoss his body. Brick dies, not knowing of Ella but with the thought of pride that he has given the ultimate soldiers sacrifice.

Lindsay and Heather screamed at the sight of Ella, the guys all jumped the fence to run to her aid and Bridgette puked in the corner. "Oh my God! Are you alright Ella?!" Topher yelled. "She's full of bullets and bleeding like crazy,WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK?!" Alejandro retorted, "Harold, can't you do something?!". Harold scoffed, "What do I look like,a fucking doctor?!". "My my,isn't this sad?" Monokuma chuckled as he walked over. "You gotta do something!" Topher exclaimed. "Tut tut tut,not at all my Producer Pal. Brick has been executed, while Ella here jumped into the line of fire by her own free will. There's nothing that I can do about that" Monokuma explained while grinning. "So you're just gonna let her die?" Harold asked. "Exactamundo!" Monokuma exclaimed, "Looks like this was quite a surprise, having three students die in just two days. It reminds me of our time in Hope's Peak Academy when good ol' Duncan eat Trent with a guitar and slit Dawn's throat" he sighed happily. Suddenly there was a cough and splutter as Ella cracked an eye open, "I-it's so cold". "Don't worry man,we'll patch you up and get you back on your feet in no time" Topher said. Ella swatted his hand away, "N-n-n-no...p-please. J-just let me go" she whispered, "W-we had f-fun. B-but my t-time is up. N-now I-i-i-i can r-reunite with B-brick on the o-o-other s-side" she smiled weakly. Taking one final breath, the colour faded from her eyes and her body went limp. Ella Enchanted the Ultimate Singer was dead.

With Ella dead,Monokuma allowed the remaining students to climb into the truck he had used in the execution. Once everyone was aboard,he drove them back to the main area of Jabberwock Island so that they could return to living on the first island once more. The last few days were rough, the students now numbered a mere seven. It was time to get serious,no more punches were going to be held. Starting from tomorrow,Topher vowed in his mind to start working towards truly finding escape, finding the mastermind or to put an end to this wretched killing game. He didn't know how,but knew it had to be done somehow. The sun set as the truck reached the main area of the fourth island. It was so big that the funhouse was built faraway in the forest. Once back it was a simple drive to the first island. The students climbed out once they reached the hotel while Monokuma drove off laughing to himself. Not a word was said as everyone returned to their cabins. Topher closed the door, climbed into bed and slept.

-END OF CHAPTER 5-

(Coyler's note: Jesus fucking Christ this was a long one,but one I seriously enjoyed putting together. Killing off Brick and Ella was tough, but I think Brick got a great send-off in a way that fit his character. Starting with Chapter 6,things are gonna get a bit a more serious. The comedy will be kept to an extent but the actual plot will most likely take center stage. As always I hope you all enjoyed, remember to follow, favourite and review. Well, that's it for now. Coyler, out!)
