Percy stared in awe at the small little floating ball of light. His mind was trying to rationalize in its usual logical manner that this was the soul of his younger brother Fred. Then again, dealing with ghosts or spirits of the dead in his world, they kept the appearance of their former self. Yet, here, Percy could see it wasn't the same. Nope, his brother had been reduced to a small floating orb of light that couldn't communicate under the usual means like those of their world.
But a quick, modified spell had allowed Percy the right to talk with Fred. Who was beyond ecstatic to see him. And go on a rather long-winded tale of adventure that led him to Bickslow and the rest of the Raijunshin Team, who had arrived back to the guild only a few days ago. That initial meeting had been very impressionable to Percy, as he felt rather dwarfed by not just Bickslow but the two other male members, Laxus and Freed. Then again, in his world, being over six feet tall was becoming a more common thing, but at five foot eight inches.
Sighing as Fred seemed to bob before him, patiently waiting for an answer to his question. One that Percy didn't precisely want to answer at that moment. Because while Fred and George loved to push the envelope with their pranks and other fun ideas, they'd never go so far as to break all the fundamental laws and tenants of the Wizarding World. Yet, Percy had done so to find Fred's Soul and reunite it with his body.
"Perce!"
Lifting his eyes, he looked at what was left of his brother, noting how the little orb seemed to flicker from a shiny blue-green to a dull yellow-red, letting everyone know he was getting agitated. This was something Bickslow had cautioned them all about since Fred was definitely a Soul from another world and more than a month old and not a small child, which means that his innocence was no longer a factor and could turn if pushed too far.
"What do you think, Fred? For me to be in another world, in my own physical body? I broke several of the laws of Merlin and, just well, laws in general. What I did was forbidden, though not labeled as Black Magic."
The way the yellow-red faded to a clear, pearlescent white as he watched Fred float down to rest on top of the desk in Makarov's office was telling. No words needed to be spoken. The others in the office were already aware before contacting Bicslow when he and his team were still on their mission.
"Damn, Perce, that's just massive. But seriously, you did all this to make sure I could go home? Alive even?"
"Yes, Fred. You have no idea how much the family mourns for you even now. It took me the better part of a year to research and procure the last Time-Turner to do this spell."
"So, we can go home soon, right?"
Percy went still and let his head drop. He knew he could never do it, having been informed by Lucy that her spirits had said he broke several laws according to the cosmos and magic even in this world by tearing holes in the fabric of reality with his magic theory. Holes that were currently being fixed even now. He mostly had a physical body to transport, which was not supposed to be sent between worlds.
"By the next full moon, Fred, you can go home. I cannot unless I want to be put on trial and executed for breaking Merlin's cardinal laws. Besides, I don't fear death; I fear mum, you git. I took her special, custom made preservation spell and modified it so I could keep your corpse alive after going back in time and switching it with another after acquiring the Time-Turner."
There was a heavy silence in the office as Percy felt several pairs of eyes looking at him. But still, he bore it in silence, a penance he would pay for doing that. Because anyone from his and Fred's homeworld knew about their mother, it was her temper. And hell, her skill and prowess as a witch were second to none. What his mother did to Bellatrix LeStrange was proof that you didn't mess with or piss off Molly Weasley.
"Yeah, your right; mum is more fearsome than the magic council or death. So, George has just been waiting this whole time? How do you communicate with him?"
At that question, Percy lifted his head, smiling widely as he looked to Lucy. Who had a rather becoming blush on her face?
Lucy was fascinated with the magic that Percy had used so they all could speak to the soul of his younger brother Fred. It seemed to have intrigued Bickslow since for his babies to communicate; they had to be housed in specially carved totems and given names. So, she felt that learning all she could from Percy would be beneficial and had offered her help to Percy, after learning from Grandpa Crux that messages could be sent to other worlds.
Still, dipping her head, Lucy gave a nervous laugh as everyone looked at her. Her magic, she was learning, was more versatile than she had ever thought possible. However, she felt a bit shy about it since not much was known about Celestial Magic in general to the larger population of mages or regular citizens of Earthland as a whole.
"Is this true, Lucy?"
Lifting her eyes, she looked at Freed, who was giving her an assessing look. Slowly she nodded her head, watching as his eyes lit up as if he had discovered something new to study. It made her feel a bit awkward, but Lucy knew that Freed wouldn't be anything but a gentleman about his inquiries and never push her for the information she didn't, or instead couldn't, give.
"Yes. Grandpa Crux said that messages could be given to individuals in other worlds with the same sign as one of the Zodiacs since star constellations crossed over many worlds. And Fred and George fall under Aries."
The way several pairs of eyes went wide at her admission, Lucy wondered if this would be a can of worms? She really hoped it didn't. And as her eyes met Percy's, she saw that his light blues were dancing in amusement.
"Either way, 'Stache's face said that if we find the soul and wait until the Full Moon since that is when Fred's soul arrived, we could send him back with a magic ritual that is a combination of both Earthland and Percy's world, Earth's. But we would need Bickslow there to help guide Fred back, while Percy, Levy and I, and you Freed if you want to help make sure it goes off without a hitch."
Silence hung in the air for but a few seconds before both Bickslow and Freed agreed that they'd love to help. Making Lucy feel warmth blossom in her chest as she looked at Percy again, seeing shadows darken his eyes from behind his glasses. She knew that he was well aware of the consequences of his choice in actions. But to know you could never go home again due to being killed for crimes. It hurt because he would be without his family. However, she would offer, later in private, to send messages through Aries to the twins if the ritual worked.
