Hey everyone, just wanted to leave a quick author's note. This is my first fanfic, ever. I have been a fanfic reader for years and stopped for awhile, but because of quarantine I got back into it. I never expected myself to ever right a fic, but here we are. I appreciate feedback and constructive criticism (hey first time here, it took me an hour just to figure out how to upload a story). I 3 BBRae since like forever, so this was just naturally the next step. I hope you enjoy the story, stay safe!
Three years ago, a typical battle with Adonis was taking place, but this time it was taken too far. They were called out to a robbery for a specific battery Adonis used for his equipment and they followed him to an abandoned warehouse. Adonis was always well known to hit on Raven, especially when she began to blossom into her more adult body, but this particular time he was just too insistent.
While she was fighting, a gust of wind picked up from the wall they burst through and he was able to see her whole leotard hiding beneath her cloak.
"So that's what you've been hiding underneath that cape of yours this whole time? You should go to jail just for that, because hiding all that body is a crime in itself ", sneered Adonis while looking Raven up and down.
She rolled her eyes and they all kept on fighting him, but he was able to knock out Robin by throwing Cyborg right at him. They were knocked through three walls and Starfire flew over to go help and it was just Raven and Beast Boy to fight him.
Adonis said, "How about I make you a deal, I spare your friends and in return you come back with me to my place."
Raven simply rolled her eyes and said, "Not even if you were the last scrawny man on Earth.". It was well known that he used all his armor to make up for his lack of muscles so she said that to mess with his mind.
"Scrawny? I think you must be mistaken with that green wimp over there", referring to Beast Boy whose ram transformation was just thrown against wooden crates. Garfield was a bit taller than when he first met Adonis, but not yet his full height and still pretty slender.
"Scrawny? Who are you calling scrawny, I at least don't have to build my muscles".
Adonis simply ignored him, "Come on sweet thang, I can kiss you all over and have you screaming for a real man".
Raven was of course beyond disgusted, but she couldn't help blush due to such crass comments. She started to look around looking for the rest of the team. The walls where pretty thick and Robin was temporarily knocked out. Cyborg went over to secure the battery while Starfire was tending to Robin and trying to clean him up from the debris. While she started summoning her powers again she replied in her signature monotone, "You simply don't know how to give up. You probably have Daddy to pay someone to give you the time of day".
He was able to dodge the last remaining intact crate and replied back, "Come on, just one kiss and I'll give in I swear" with what Raven could swear she heard a purr. Raven tried to use her powers again but she was having trouble and she wasn't sure why. She thought to herself, What's going on? Why are my powers not working?.
Beast boy looked at her and saw that she was becoming flustered and noticed her powers were not working, meaning that she was probably having an internal struggle.
Her powers would only get affected if someone or something got to her emotions. It did not happen often but one time she was not able to fight for most of the battle when the Hive was stealing from a museum and one of the artifacts was from Azarath. She took it so personal she could not concentrate, her powers did not come back until they almost dropped the sacred object, causing Raven to snap back into the battle.
He then lunged toward Adonis and yelled "Leave her alone! She's not interested. Haven't you ever heard of no means no?" before shifting into a gorilla.
Adonis coyly replied, "Oh yeah? Like how she's not interested in you?". Beast boy then changed formed to a form of a lion to claw at his armor. Adonis was able to grab him by the tail and flung him towards Raven, but she was able to dodge it.
"I think I know why you're all flustered, I don't know how but I think you've simply never been kissed. Well come on over I can take care of that for you right here right now. I don't mind him watching".
Raven really needed her powers back. She did not want Beast Boy to turn into the beast again in these conditions to fight Adonis. She had to come up with something now and quick. She really did not know what was going on in her head but before she could even think twice about, she found her lips meeting with Garfield's.
Though it was a quick peck, probably two seconds, to Garfield it felt like forever.
When they broke a part, Beast Boy was just staring at her with shock. Even Adonis did not expect that and had his jaw wide open. Raven was now able to use her powers again and the rest of the team came back and went off on Adonis while he was still in frozen. Raven was able to use her powers to ensnare him and they were able to take him to jail soon after.
It wasn't that bad of a fight, they for sure have had worst, but Beast Boy did not say a word the whole trip back home to the surprise of everyone. The team didn't see Raven kiss him, so they thought Adonis did something to him.
Starfire asked him with concern, "Friend Beast Boy, is there something the matter with you? You have not made a single joke since we left. You did not even laugh when Adonis yelled to Robin that his outfit reminded him of the automobile traffic light." Cyborg began chuckling again at Robin's expense, perhaps that's why Nightwing's color scheme would become just black and blue? Beast Boy just shook his head to try to get himself out of his trance and said, "Don't worry Star, I'm just tired that's all. Guess I shouldn't have watched all the Wicked Scary series back-to-back last night", rubbing the back of his head. He then started to look at Raven. Raven just looked at him briefly and turned to look at the window and did not say a word.
Robin was still pretty beat up and Starfire helped him to their shared room.
"Hey B, you still up to watch the game later on? I know Robin is out.", asked Cyborg.
Beast Boy quickly snapped out of his trance and replied to his best friend, "Uhh yeah Cy, just give me a minute, got to just pass by my room for real quick".
Cyborg just nodded and began to set up the common room to watch the basketball game.
After collecting the materials to create her tea, Raven began walking towards her room. She was grateful for Beast Boy's silence on the way home since she for sure did not want no one to know. She didn't even understand what happened. Adonis somehow got to her head when he was pushing on about her romantic experience. She was about to turn 20 and he was right, she never had her first kiss. There were sometimes where she was close sure, but the few dates she had would either turn out that the guy had asked her in order to score with a Titan, and one she swore was a follower of Trigon. It was something she did not think she was so self-conscious about, but apparently it got to her today. Her first kiss wasn't sacred to her, that is why she kissed Beast Boy on a whim. He was her friend for years, and he saw how uncomfortable she was. She can just apologize tomorrow morning about it and everything will go back to normal. She was just a few steps away from her door but Beast Boy all of a sudden appeared right in front of her. She was startled because she was lost in her thoughts about how she would approach Beast Boy tomorrow, so she did not notice the buzzing of the green fly that had followed her from the kitchen.
"Hey Raven, can we talk about what just happened back there?"
"I would rather not." and moved towards her door, where Beast Boy grabbed a hold of her wrist. "Come on Rae. You just kissed me out of nowhere, where did that even come from?"
Raven shook her head, "You saw how my powers were affected. I don't know why or how, but what he said really affected my emotions somehow. I'm not sure exactly which emotions he set off, but I became helpless. I assumed it had to do with him talking about kissing, so in order to shut him up, I kissed you. I did that to shut him up for a minute so I can summon back my powers and it worked".
Beast Boy just looked at her and she could feel his confusion, anxiousness, and surprise, she didn't even have to be an empath to know all that since it was all written over his face. But what really surprised her the most and what was not noticeable to the common person was that lingering sense of hope, which she was not sure was about.
He then told her "So you're telling me that was all just a distraction for Adonis? Nothing else? It meant nothing to you? Or at least you've never thought about it before?".
Raven looked at him to meet his eyes and for whatever reason she was not sure what to say. She was going to tell him how it meant nothing, it was out of desperation. So why couldn't she? When she met his emerald, longing eyes, she was lost for words.
So instead, she just replied, "We are friends, and even though I don't like it I actually consider you as one of my best friends".
"You're one of my best friends too Rae, but that still didn't answer any of my questions".
"Beast Boy just drop it, okay? We are friends, nothing more. Now if you excuse me, I have to go back inside and meditate and hope to go back to sleep, I suggest you do the same".
She pulled her wrist from his grip and was about to walk into her room until Beast Boy grabbed her shoulder and turned her to face him and said, "Okay if you're not going to answer any of my questions, I will leave you with more questions for yourself to think about," and he kissed her. This kiss was longer than the one she initiated, but still gentle. He had his eyes closed and his gloved hand was cupping her cheek. Her amethyst eyes were wide with shock. Shock at the action, but even more shock that she was not pulling away nor did she have a desire to break away.
To his surprise, Garfield was the one to break the kiss. He was just peacefully standing there and told her, "Just to let you know and to answer one of my own questions, I thought of that before actually doing it". He backed away to let her enter her room, "Good night Rae, sweet dreams" and he kissed her on the cheek swiftly before walking back to his room with a confident stride. Raven was now standing there even more confused than Beast Boy was when he came looking for her. She went back to her room and meditated almost through the whole night and wasn't even sure if she was going to get a wink of sleep.
The moment Beast Boy got inside his room he started basically began to jump off the walls from excitement. He kept om saying to himself, "I kissed Raven! I kissed Raven!". When the adrenaline began to fade and the consequences started to weigh in, he then started to look around his surroundings and the dawn of what just happened started to come towards the surface.
"Oh my God, I just kissed Raven...". Garfield did not do much sleeping that night either and the basketball game was long forgotten.
