3rd POV

"So now that we're all introduced, can you guys explain exactly why I'm here? And where is here?"

"You're in the Knights of Dawn Headquarters." Stan answered vaguely.

Kendra slowly nodded her head. "Okay, but where is here exactly? Am I still in Fablehaven?" Suddenly the floor got very interesting as everyone stared down at it. Even Seth couldn't meet her gaze. "What is it?" She asked.

It was finally Vanessa who decided to speak up. "We're sorry Kendra, but we can't risk telling you that yet. You're still so new, and it's just as much for your safety as it is ours."

She looked so hurt when Vanessa had said that, but it was quickly covered with a face of understanding. "I understand. I wouldn't trust me either."

Everyone gave her a look of pity, making her wish she kept her mouth shut.

"Come on dear, let's go get some food for you. You're probably starving!" Ruth fussed.

Kendra still had a lot of questions that needed answering. But at that exact moment her stomach started to groan really loud. She blushed and looked down. "That would be much appreciated, Thank you."

Ruth smiled and started leading her out the door.

"Wait!" Bracken stepped out of the room. "Can I talk to you for a second Kendra?"

Kendra POV

Why would he want to talk to me? "Sure. If that's okay with you Grandma."

Ruth smiled sweetly, "Just take her to the kitchens when you're done talking." And she walked off, leaving me alone with Bracken.

"I hope that you're not too upset over the whole kidnapping thing. Sorry about that by the way."

The way he looked at me with those silver eyes made my heart flutter. No! You just got out of a relationship! You can't be fantasizing about one now!

"Actually, I should be thanking you. If it wasn't for the Knights of Dawn, I would've been married to a man who is obsessed with me to the point where I'm pretty sure I was being followed."

Bracken had a look of shock, and then anger. "Ronodin?! That's low, even for him."

My eyes widened, "Wait…You know him?!"

Bracken chuckled, "I mean I should, I am his cousin after all. I grew up with him."

My jaw dropped, "You're his cousin?!"

"What? Don't you see the family resemblance?" He asked, amused.

Bracken POV

Why was he flirting with this girl? He had only just met her a few minutes ago! He tried not to let his emotions overtake him, but there was something about this girl. She was so innocent…. And she almost had to marry Ronodin of all people!

Although he didn't know why, he made a silent vow to always protect this girl, no matter what.

"Thanks for leading me to the kitchen!" Kendra said happily.

I smiled, "Of course, anytime!" I was about to walk off when I hesitated and turned around. "Would you like a tour later?"

Kendra seemed surprised by the offer.

Why did I just say that!? Of course she doesn't-

"I'd love to."

Ronodin POV

"Sir! We found something!" One of his trackers said

"What is it?"

"One of the people involved in the abduction goes by the name of Bracken."

I clenched my teeth. So my idiotic cousin thinks he can steal away MY bride, MY princess, MY Kendra away from me? He has another thing coming. "Pull up everything you can find on him! And I mean everything! I want him in custody, and I want to question him myself!"

Bracken would rue the day he decided to take what was rightfully his. He would get Kendra back, and he was never going to let her go. Ever.
